    I love how this video tells you witch fingers go on what string and on what fret unlike most videos where it just says like chords because I’m a beginner and this is a good video

    Little known fact: Slash uses this intro as a warmup exercise. Axel thought it was pretty cool sounding and wanted it in the song itself.

  • @thomasnonsense
    @thomasnonsense 7 років тому +7

    Thanks for the tutorial, Justin. Great, as per usual! I've never been a fan of GnR or Slash, although I guess it's much better to just play it if someone asks if I know how to play it rather than look like a goose when I say that I don't have a clue! For me, it's actually easier to stick to the alternate picking because that's the way I'm used to playing. However, it's very nice of you to study it closely enough to break it into up and down strokes based on what Slash does. Excellent job!!

    FYI to play this in proper tuning without tuning the guitar, play a fret lower. So instead of first note being at fret 12, have it at fret 11, do the same with all the other notes. Second set can be played with the ring finger for first note instead of pointer. :p

  • @jimbobur
    @jimbobur 4 роки тому +3

    Is it important to do the fingering exactly this way? I've learned the intro but using all four fingers (mainly cause when I first learned it I was even more of a guitar noob than I am now so my reach with my left hand fingers was rubbish 😅)

    I think it's awesome that Slash could play this *perfectly* when he was only 19 or whatever.
    But then I think he didn't just play it at that age, he *wrote* it. How is that possible? It's not just how difficult it is, it's the musicality of it. At 19?!
    My honest opinion is that he must be a genius. Or he had lessons.

    Don't apologize, there are many ways to always play a tune. Many artists play their own tunes different every time. You get it right way more than most

    Justin, Is it wierd that 90% of the time when I practice, I only Downpick in the hopes I can someday beat James Hetfield as the king ofdownpicking.
