I love how this video tells you witch fingers go on what string and on what fret unlike most videos where it just says like chords because I’m a beginner and this is a good video
I was scrolling on a nostalgia trip and I came across this video from my childhood. I remember when I first got a guitar, my Dad put me in front of an iPad and had me try to play SCOM, I couldn't physically do it because I was so new to guitar. I came back today and learned how to play it from this video. Thank you so much for being my first experience on guitar, I am so glad I was finally able to play.
I give you a ton of credit for admitting that your earlier effort wasn't quite right, and then taking the time to do a very accurate version. The attention to detail is greatly appreciated!
When I'm in the mood to learn something new, you're the first channel I go to. You give the most detailed, accurate, and easiest to understand instruction I've found.
Glad you enjoyed it. There are now 700+ song lessons plus a song request board here: www.justinguitar.com/songs Cheers 😊 | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide & Approved Teacher
Justin. Brian from Sydney here. Your teaching style is amazing and you've brought from never having picked up a guitar in April this year to being able to play 10-12 songs end-to-end. Thank you so much. I've spent so much time watching your videos I feel like I know you so well. Thanks again and keep them coming.
you taught me everything i know justin , from my first chord to sweet child o mine- thats pretty epic ,thanks :) i just got the justin guitar 4chords app for a bit of fun aswell - i was broke when i started out so youre honour system was a lifeline
Can't wait for the next parts. I will have achieved a life long goal when I can play this (including solos) from start to finish. Thank you and come do a workshop in Wellington NZ sometime! :)
Watch guitar tutorials upside down. It becomes easier to view finger positioning since the view would be the way you would normally look down at a guitar👍👌
How coincidental, I was listening to Appetite for Destruction on my way home just then and was thinking "I should really learn the right way to play this song" .. Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial, Justin. Great, as per usual! I've never been a fan of GnR or Slash, although I guess it's much better to just play it if someone asks if I know how to play it rather than look like a goose when I say that I don't have a clue! For me, it's actually easier to stick to the alternate picking because that's the way I'm used to playing. However, it's very nice of you to study it closely enough to break it into up and down strokes based on what Slash does. Excellent job!!
I remember your original video of this tutorial. Very first one I ever tried learning, even if it was on an acoustic guitar back in '08. In fact, I think the original video of this is the first video I ever watched of yours along with Stairway. My how time flies. Thank you for the tutorials through all these years!
I learnt to play this from the first lessons you did but always used the same fingering as you show in this new version as I personally found it more comfortable. I always thought I was doing it wrong but it was the only way I could play it!! Great lesson and now looking forward to the rest as I've since forgotten exactly how to play some of the other riffs. Cheers :)
Out of all the UA-cam guitar teachers you are one of the best I learned how to play house of the rising sun. Animals version you slow it down perfectly and don’t overload the learners mind. 👍
Hi Justin! I just want you to know that I have learned so much from your videos! MY brother gave me his old guitar a month or 2 ago and thanks to you I'm already doing really well on the beginner stage. Thank you so much!
Oh Justin Thx so much for going out of your way to re do this one. I did master it the way you showed us the first time you posted it and yes I did find it very difficult alternating the strings. Thx also for letting us know the settings on the guitar. I also think this is if not the best guitar intro I've ever heard. cheer cobbler.😎
Thanks Justin, the outro part at the end is a little tricky to follow but I slowed the video play speed to 0.25 and managed to jot it down. Thank you for your channel ✌️ now to practice
Hey Justin would you consider making a DVD for the training for this song. I'm a subscriber and have been watching and trying to learn this song but my internet is so crappy that it's buffering so much it's hard to learn with so many interruptions. Thanks John
Thanks Justin. Been trying to sort out that last little riff for a week. Logged on here and had an "oh yeah" moment. I love your lessons and your songbooks. Thank you for putting them all up here.
Amazing tutorial! I slow down Slash’s picking and I see it’s is down up up up up down up up not down up up up up down up down. Idk, if I am wrong or not. However, it works both!❤
Hey Justin! Gotta be "that guy " and point out you change the picking when you play it your way. You throw in one downstroke, rather than the ups that you say slash uses. That said, really looking forward to the videos! There's that one run he does, crazy ascending run that everyone gets wrong! Great channel, best of it's kind!!!
My dad used to be able to do just the intro as a kid on electric guitar. As a 15 year old girl with some sort of guitar knowledge from school, I just wanna learn the intro to impress him lol
Justin, it was watching you're original tutorial that genuinely made me realise that these guitar riffs are "do-able" by us mere mortals and I almost mastered the entire song, except for when it speeds up into the Wah-Wah solo (which I believe is in fact impossible by mere mortals!). Now you are telling us that we are even playing the intro wrong?! Haha! I of course write this tongue in cheek, but I seriously love you're tutorials, the best on UA-cam by far! and if you could teach us how to play "The Fast Bit" ascending to the "Wah-Wah" Solo, I would call you the God of Guitar Tutors (which to me of course you are anyway). Another great Vid, thanks Justin
Hey Justin great presentation as always! Great stuff man! When do you think you can do a lesson on Stevie Ray Vaughn's Pride and Joy, the electric version? Thanks..
Ok man, I understand. Sorry, alot of people tell me they can't hang with that song. They say"don't get me wrong, we love Stevie Ray Vaughn, but that song is very challenging to play. I just don't get that Texas Shuffle rhythm
Is it important to do the fingering exactly this way? I've learned the intro but using all four fingers (mainly cause when I first learned it I was even more of a guitar noob than I am now so my reach with my left hand fingers was rubbish 😅)
FYI to play this in proper tuning without tuning the guitar, play a fret lower. So instead of first note being at fret 12, have it at fret 11, do the same with all the other notes. Second set can be played with the ring finger for first note instead of pointer. :p

Thx dude :) you been putting the hours in obviously. Congrats.
Wow the tone is identical to the recording!
Yeah scary close I think :)
I can't find the place on the website that shows the tone settings. Can you help please?
Matt x69x Yep the Les Paul obviously helps, just saying the tone is identical to the recording.
+JustinGuitar Songs what kinda pedal did you use man sounds great !!!
Yea, slash uses a gibson and justin also uses one.
you taught me everything i know justin , from my first chord to sweet child o mine- thats pretty epic ,thanks :)
i just got the justin guitar 4chords app for a bit of fun aswell - i was broke when i started out so youre honour system was a lifeline
Thanks for teaching me play the guitar!
Youre the best Justin!

Justin!! Perfect tone and playing mate.
Watch guitar tutorials upside down. It becomes easier to view finger positioning since the view would be the way you would normally look down at a guitar👍👌
Peter Scalise I'm a lefty so doesn't really work for me :(
Ambarie you can play guitar and fret with your left hand even if you're a lefty. Just practice
+Zack 2.0 Yeah, a friend of mine does that. He has no problem playing that way. Also, didn't Mark Knopfler do that?
Zack 2.0 I actually have a left handed guitar ;)
No need for me. I'm a leftie player. Technically, this video is already mirrored for me! ;)
*Learn how to play Sweet Child O Mine in detail!* www.justinguitar.com/songs/guns-n-roses-sweet-child-o-mine-intro-chords-tabs-guitar-lesson-st-376
I don't even play the guitar and I enjoyed this. You seem to have a really great tutorial style.
The tone of that guitar sounds amazing😍😰
I use to play long ago, I watched your video today and you brought me back up to speed and some thanks brother!
There are hundreds of Lesson videos and I certified Justin is the only that explained super clearly and now i can play this song! 😎 thanks !
Yaaaaayyy! Finally in way better quality. : )
Thanks Justin!
I greatly appreciate this learning experience. I love guns n roses and being able to play this song will make my family cry
How coincidental, I was listening to Appetite for Destruction on my way home just then and was thinking "I should really learn the right way to play this song" .. Thanks!
Justin you're the best teacher out there. Period. Thank you so much for all the great and FUN lessons.

You're awesome guitar teacher. Positive atmosphere and good lessons. All is simple and clear.
Thanks for doing a HD version.
Thanks so much for this amazing tutorial.
Wonderful piece of playing and very well explained, all salutes to Slash as well, thanks guys.
Down up down down up down up down works for me Justin.

By far my fav GnR song. The only one I really wanna get.
I learnt to play this from the first lessons you did but always used the same fingering as you show in this new version as I personally found it more comfortable. Justin really knows how to teach... love how he breaks everything down so it's easy to learn

Oh my! I was doing alternate picking! Thank you for this 🤘🏼
Thank you for the tutorial. I was struggling quite a bit.
Thanks Justin, the outro part at the end is a little tricky to follow but I slowed the video play speed to 0.25 and managed to jot it down.
Thank you for your channel ✌️

Thanks men, your explanation helped me a lot to play this riff. Cheers from Montreal, Canada.
Great attention to detail..as always...nothing more beautiful than the sight & sound of a goldtop les paul
Hey Justin would you consider making a DVD for the training for this song. I'm a subscriber and have been watching and trying to learn this song but my internet is so crappy that it's buffering so much it's hard to learn with so many interruptions. Thanks John

Awesome lesson Justin...thank you so very much. Also, your tone was spot on. Excellent!
Fantastic! Hoping for a tutorial on the Stone Roses' 'Beautiful Thing' in the coming weeks. Cheers from Seoul
top lesson, looking forward to the rest. ...
DUDE this was beyond the most helpful lesson !!! thank you !!!!!
The Doors Robbie Krieger intro on Light my Fire is the best
Excellent video. Worth noting the picking combination is different on the last 2 bars!
Finding this very hard to nail . Great video came back yet again 😂
Amazing tutorial! I slow down Slash’s picking and I see it’s is down up up up up down up up not down up up up up down up down. Idk, if I am wrong or not. However, it works both!❤
Justin, you are a great teacher. Learn a lot from your tutorials. GOOD JOB MAN & KEEP IT UP !
This is the song that made me want to play guitar !
Little wing for me :)
Jakob Björklund Also a great one !
By the way I never actually played Sweet Child of Mine . So I'll certainly be following this series.

That gold top 😍😍😍😍
Lovely !! You made me cover this intro
GREAT job, Justin! =)
Thanks for clarifying the intro! 💪😎🤘
My dad used to be able to do just the intro as a kid on electric guitar. As a 15 year old girl with some sort of guitar knowledge from school, I just wanna learn the intro to impress him lol
A beginner and been on this a few months. Getting the notes ringing into each other and hitting 125 BPM (i play it at 100 atm) is the hard bit for me.
yep
Thanks...
Thank you so much! I hope you do November rain one day
yeah thank you mate
Untuk kami , yg belajar music ini sangat membantu, kami trimakasih.
Im 68 years of age and have just learned this riff for the first time - Thnx Justin. Now where can I get me some leather trousers?
This is it easiest song to learn how did you learn it after so many years 😂
@@dimitriosmalatches5522 Because there are other great songs aswell??
Hey Justin! Can you give us a tutorial for happiness is a warm gun? Love your stuff!
u can play the intro and most of the song in standsrd tuning its just different frets but nice job 👍
Justin, it was watching you're original tutorial that genuinely made me realise that these guitar riffs are "do-able" by us mere mortals and I almost mastered the entire song, except for when it speeds up into the Wah-Wah solo (which I believe is in fact impossible by mere mortals!).

Another great Vid, thanks Justin
great lesson and great tone thank you justin!!! kemper !!!!!!!!!!! i wish i could have this tone with something on budget lol!
What would be the settings on the amplifier to get that sound?
thank you!! really good tutorial
The Les Paul really is the only guitar you can use for this song if you really wanna nail that neck pickup tone
why so?
Hi Justin are you going to do all the parts to this song?
yep, well, almost all, not every layer of rhythm parts.
Hey Justin great presentation as always! Great stuff man! When do you think you can do a lesson on Stevie Ray Vaughn's Pride and Joy, the electric version? Thanks..
when I can play it well ;)
Ok man, I understand. Sorry, alot of people tell me they can't hang with that song. They say"don't get me wrong, we love Stevie Ray Vaughn, but that song is very challenging to play. I just don't get that Texas Shuffle rhythm
it's harder to nail down than it first seems. I can kinda do it but it needs some hours in the 'shed!
thank you so much fo this lesson!!! cheers!!!
Great stuff Justin. Any chance in the future of a Black Keys - Lonely boy lesson ?
Bad ass!! Don't talk just let the guitar speak for u
Yesssssss!Thanks,Just!
Yo justin. I am pleased to say how much you learned me... Can you please do November rain for us...
Justin, I think it makes much more sense to pick DUUD UDUD. Or even more efficient DUUD UDUU. Please try and let me know your thoughts
You are my guitar teacher
I always start this on an up-pick. Whatever suits I guess.
Hey Justin could you plz do a vid of the tuning that would be great thx
Finally...thanx!
I was alternate picking this- the slash way is so much easier
Will you please do some grateful dead solo lessons?
Hey Justin, could you do a lesson of The Strange Song from the great Leonard Cohen. I really love the song, but the fingerpicking is something else :)
Is it important to do the fingering exactly this way? I've learned the intro but using all four fingers (mainly cause when I first learned it I was even more of a guitar noob than I am now so my reach with my left hand fingers was rubbish 😅)

I tried and the strings played together making a crunchy hurting sound
