2 years playing 52 yrs old. The fact that I have the skills to even attempt to try and learn this. Still amazes me . Never too old to learn. I'm happy with my progress. A day and a half watching this over and over progress is good . I'm 😊 happy
God for you man.😀 In my case i suck, my E and G strings vibrate a little bit, witch produce undesirable sound. I try to rest the palm whiteout affecting the B.🙄
@@mastopage3120get some Gibson strings. The strings on my Sg wasn’t anything spectacular so I swapped them out for Gibson 9/42 and the difference was instantly noticeable and getting the same tones as Angus Young even before I have yet to drop a set of Wilkinson humbuckers in but hopefully they will be installed soon. What guitar and strings are you using.
Been playing all but around a few months and taught myself to play the entire AC/DC thunderstruck (51yrs of age) the only part I’m having an issue with is getting the palm muting with the rhythm Malcom Young plays. Likewise I found some of the most “seemingly” easy riffs to be quite difficult to tricky to get to grips with lol there’s one that has just three movements and it still every now and then trip me up falling over my own fingers across the fretboard 🤣🫣
Thank you very much Justin, especially for Malcolm's part in the intro. For those who are figuring it out: 10:59 onwards is EXCEPTIONALLY helpful. Everything in this is helpful, but that especially.
Though i do not watch every single video of yours, i gotta say that i appreciate the amount of content you're producing lately! Once in a while i stop by because of a song that i've been waiting for and never miss to enjoy it :-) Greetings from Germany!
Seeing Justin struggle a bit with the main riff makes me feel a little better about myself, but also makes me wonder how feasible it is that I will nail this riff at the same speed as the original recording...
Very well explained! Thank you! Malcom’s riffs are killer! Audley Freed said: „Malcom Young is a pretty devastating Rythm Guitar player.“ I totally agree!
Thank you so much, Justin! You are my absolute favorite guitar teacher! You break down everything so easy. I can play lots of my favorite songs now because of you ( minus the solos). Still working on those. You rock! Love AC/DC!
James Lowe Thanks for this information, I was wondering what guitar it was, just like a bunch of others... it is really a sweet guitar. I love that zero fret and the fingerboard markers, and heck, just about everything else. 🎸😎👍🏻
OMG, THANK YOU! I think you're the FIRST person I've found on UA-cam that included that inverted D power chord during the main chorus (those open A and D strings you noted). It seems like EVERYONE else tells people to repeat the A power chord and it just sounds wrong. Good job! Also, kudos to Malcom Young for that insane B-chord finger picking that drives this song forward. I can't even do that! It's way easier to do Angus's legato for the entire song.
Dear Justin, thank you for the lessons. Please do a couple of Queen lessons. Tie Your Mother Down, WWRY, hammer Ta Fall, Now I Am Here, One Vision - all cool riffs and interesting chords and solos. We all would be highly grateful.
JustinGuitar Songs Yes, please. Especially considering that Brian May really likes what you do. In regards to his sound you can always get together with his tech man - Pete. If you need help with getting in touch with him, pm me.
Excellent teachings. Your recommendations are spot on. Practice makes perfect….. I almost have the riff down and greatly appreciate you providing the rest of the song. I think I’ll be busy till fall. Best from Idaho
Check out Shutup & Play Guitar Tutorials. The guy is amazing and did Funk 49 a few months back. There are two people I support financially on UA-cam, Justin and Shutup & Play - Both are great teachers, and they both provided a wonderful, life changing service.
Brilliantly fantastic to see you bring out the MY Gretsch again at last, poor thing must've been feeling a bit neglected. Been waiting for you to roll out a number like this and what an awesome choice, thanks J.
Great lesson. I've always love Malcolm Young's rhythm guitar playing. But now after watching you teach/play, I have to admit that respect level that I have for him just went up a couple more notches.
Hey man, glad to see you're keeping up with these amazing lessons. This one's very helpful. I think this shows just how underrated this song is in its musicality.
Metronome. Find your baseline tempo where you can play it flawlessly and speed up by 2/3/5 beats. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Use more of the edge of the pick and don't use too much distortion. And Malcom's rhythm is tougher than the main riff.
Man I'm just starting to play at 50 years old and am digging your videos. I'm using your website and have started taking local once a week lessons. Oh yea, AC DC rocks because they have a beat and a rhythm that's easy to listen to!
What I hate about all guitar tutorials (except this one) is that the guy raves on about it, and then takes you through slowly until the end. I want to know what I will be learning. You showed me this!
Thanks heaps Justin ! That s awesome. There is one thing I dont understand : at 10:31mns you mention down up down up up down down down but when looking closely yo do down up down up up down.. ? That s the hard part as you say
So I may have missed it but one thing I didn't see mentioned was that the main single-note riff begins on an open string, which is relevant to the feel / playing it picked or legato. Based on live video I've seen, I think he plays that initial note with an upstroke, but I could be wrong. So it's possible that all of those fretted notes actually land on upstrokes.
Thanks Justin absolutely love that, been on it all afternoon great techniques as well, realised I really need some work on my hammer ons and pull offs😉 Thanks again

Awesome! I've been waiting for this video forever! I love the way you teach songs. It really makes it so much easier to learn! Question I have to ask. Are you ever going to do Def Leppard?
Great lesson my friend. could you put a little more emphasis on how he walks out of the main riff when he hits the exit notes. I can't seem to catch the very end of the riff??
Meant to say, your one of the go to guys when I started playing guitar, your tutorials really helped, at what pace would you suggest on a metronome to get close to the original sound Thanks again mate
Standard advice is slow enough to get it correct but not too slow it sounds awkward and ridiculous. Hard to put a number on it as it will depend on your level when approaching the song. | Richard_close2u | JustinGuitar Official Guide
I mute the hi E and the the G string with my pick hand and play the riff one handed with all hammer ons and pull offs. as I 'm typing this response you are covering that. Cool

Every other guitar player in the world: " I hate the B string!"
Angus : "hold my beer"

**"Hold my tea!"**
Really that's a thing???
Hating the b string

Didn’t seem to struggle too much dude lol
Very good job communicating this song. Love that guitar and the tone. Simple, crunchy, ballsy....I dig!!! Thanks for sharing.
Great lesson Justin, specialy the attention to the rythm playing of Malcom. Think he's one of the best rithm players ever. Very underrated.
Will Kupers He is the best rhytm guitarist ever
@@trajfl One of the best, at least
I like how genuinely excited you are to do these lessons, you certainly love your work. Cheers!
Thanks man! I'm a noob at 47yrs old and have just discovered AC/DC, crazy right but there it is! This was great. Thanks Justin 💕💕
