the only one who is allowed to play this at guitar center
whitestripesfan11 not like u can "whitestripesfan11"
Guy Fieri He probably can. The song is easy as fuck.
Coltallic3 YOU'RE easy as fuck.
whitestripesfan11 and were glasses inside
It really just depends which part of the song you're talking about. I know how to play the entire song. the intro is pretty easy and a lot of fun actually, the verses are even easier as long as you can hit a hammer-on without moving any of your other fingers. but as soon as you start getting into the solo it starts to get very technical, Slash used a lot of bends, pull-offs hammer-ons, slides even a light sweep pick and blended it all together perfectly. One little mistake can really throw it off. It's not the hardest solo for sure but definitely isn't easy either. all together I would say you need to be an average-pro guitar player before playing it.
Someone flattened his top hat....
Haha! Oh yeah XD
XneverstopfightingX he’s not gonna wear the same hat all the time
Lol
That's what you get for playing Sweet Child O' Mine in a Guitar Center.
Yes. I know
It's always nice to here the story behind the song...
+Alienscanner Agreed, The "where do we go now" part was hilarious.
+Alienscanner I Love the story behind this song, but the original story is much better slash is reiterating himself in this clip and he's kinda leaving some small details which to me is the Main evolution of it:)
+ROOT S listen to bohemian rhapsody, tell me there wasnt inspiration... Maybe slash didnt realise and was doing it sub consciously but it is defo there
He wrote a whole book about the formation of the band
Hear
"Yeah, we were just chilling and accidentally created one of the most iconic riffs of all time..."
It is a very good song but hardly qualify as the greatest riff of all time.
one of the most recognizable riffs i would say
@@8Junio76 yes it is
To be fair, that's how a lot of them were made.
i actually dont like the riff, only the solo
One of the greatest guitar solos ever.
My favorite solo
David Thomas
David yo nasty ass up
Moody Hyadd always gets stuck in my head.
Moody Hyadd ii
0:29 good spot to scratch xD
jaskicd lmao
jaskicd xd
FINGERING
Scratch Dat Pussay !!
😂😂
Slash might not be the most technical guitarist but the way he composes his solos, he's a pure gifted genius.
Richie Rick he’s one of the best guitarist of all time top 5
his shredding is not fast but boy is it melodic and soulful, very unique too. You can tell if it’s a Slash solo
@@paul479 I know but he’s just not as technical as Steve Vai or Joe Satriani.
@@neptunemike who cares , it’s all about the feeling.
@@neptunemike doesn't matter... none of steve's songs/solos sound melodically good... feeling of melody >>> technicality.
i like how he speaks in a present tense about his gnr days
its like he's so passionate about the memories that he gets stuck back in those moments.
BEST LINE : All Guns N' Roses songs write themselves . There's no formula , there's no pattern
there is a simple pattern. an inspired slash.
absolute legends....
He's humble. That's why I like him
Idk if he’s actually a nice guy, but from the videos I’ve seen of him, he sure does seem like a genuine person
Yes, I've seen other interviews with him, before I knew much about him, and was glad to see that he doesn't have an arrogant rock star attitude. Eddie Van Halen , too, comes across as a down to earth guy in interviews.
He’s very shy from what I’ve heard. Apparently he always wears sunglasses so people can’t tell he’s looking away from them.
@@AidanMillward 100% relatable
@@AidanMillwardhe said once that it helps with lights on stage and then he just got used to wearing shades because he got used to seeing in that tint. Imagine if you took the tint off your car window. Clearer sure but it can get too bright.
@AidanMillward Its the same with his hair - he mentions in his bio how, once he'd "acquired" the top hat, he found he could pull his hair over his face and whilst he could see out into the crowd, no-one could see him and he could almost shut himself away on stage. 😎
I just clicked on this to see if Slash could speak
Omg. Me, too.
i wanted to see if he had eye
i was thinking that he had his top hat stuck in his head
i used to think the same thing just finished looking him up in the 90s and he used to talk alot
I clicked because im a simple man
I see slash, i click
1:17 "the song wrote itself" that whole album sounds like that. all songs and parts seem to come together effortlessly. it is a great record.
the beginning bass of sweet child o mine has to be my favorite bass line of all time
the old GNR will NEVER die!!!!
Do you still use this account?
It's funny when slash says he doesnt recall when Sweet childonmine riff came from..Stuff i do and we all do we dont remember how we got there but glad we did...fkn great interview. One of the greatest riff ,in history
Slash the most badass guy I know he can be a awesome rockstar and be a gentleman at the same time he’s just himself all the time
I was looking at the nice guitars in the background then i saw the price next to it.... Jesus man.
+TacoNinja15 same
2:23.
Wow, his pinky finger is as useless as my own. Now THAT's inspirational.
😂😂😂😂😂😂 same
that's inspirational until you hear the nightrain solo...
Ulas Onal or Paradise City
Not really
I still can’t use my pinky lol
Not one, not two. probably not even three genius minds came together to make this epic Iconic rock and roll song. absolutely brilliant.
this is how you know real talent is there, even if i learnt how to play this song theres no way id know the chords behind it, makes me realise how much i dont know and ive been playing guitar my whole life, i think some people just have it
SLASH'S GUITAR PLAYING TOUCHES ME TO THE CORE OF MY SOUL AND ROCKS IT TO THE POINT IT MAKES ME CRY ITS SO BEAUTIFUL GRATEFUL FAN ANN FROM CT
My band did an album with one of the producers that helped on appetite for destruction and we learned alot from him.. I cannot for the life of me remember his name but we were in highschool and won a battle of the bands for studio time and free gear and we had a studio tech a producer and musical genius to help better our songs and I'll never forget the signed pictures of him and slash... Cause that was my biggest idol at the time... Would kill for a jam sesh with the legend of a man
Mike clink?
It makes me feel so good to hear a great guitarist say that he really didn't like the song even though he wrote the main riff, sometimes a song just doesn't go where you expect it too when you come up with that first good riff. Sometimes I will have a part that I think is killer but after putting it to live drums it takes the song in a different direction, its up to you as the song writer to use that and build upon it, I just can't believe sweet child of mine was that song in his mind.
Greatest riff ever, loved by millions, well done Slash, I love GNR, seen them many times
millions? more like billions!
I actually wrote this song and never got credit. I was visiting LA one day and this guy with a top hat was outside crying, and i was like, what's the problem sweet child, and he was like, i just can't play the guitar its too hard. and i was like, start with something easy like this, and i played a little cross pattern (it was my first time with a guitar), and i said just do that and some day you'll be good. well later that year I see that same guy on tv. its ok though, i'm satisfied just knowing i helped him reach his full potential
lol "what's the problem sweet child"
what the hell are you talking about?
Really good troll indeed
Gr8 b8 m8.
Lol just like when Forrest Gump tought Elvis how to dance
Isn't the riff originally an exercise?
that's civil war
+Tahir Lagap That's what he says in his book.
+Tahir Lagap Yes. Both Civil War and Sweet Child o Mine were exercises.
Tahir Lagap. Its from the lesson series the magic touch.
A string skipping exercise yeah
One of the best guitar players
I'm sorry everyone, but Slash isn't real.
Parents dress up as him to try and help their kids believe in the magic.
Made my night
South Park...
i hate u! i hate u i hate u i hate u! U LIE!............. dont u? :.(
vunterslash!
You are such a dumb ass
This man, Slash is legendary much love Slash I've been with you guys since the beginning the 80,s were the best times of my fuckin life
those simple 3 chord things, they are all izzy
LOOOOOL
Haha yeah ouch!
I've always been trying to play this lick with my pinky & it's been almost impossible for years. I could never get the Tempo or keep the fretboard quiet the way I was trying to do it with the added pinky doing the majority of the work. Now seeing u play it, it makes sense as to why I could never get it correctly. I had a friend & when we were kids, he could play it with no problem, but sadly he took his life & ever since then I have always tried to practice it. Hoping that 1 day I would get it down. Now seeing you actually do it. It looks like it will be so much easier now that I won't be trying to add the pinky. Thanks man. Hopefully my friend will finally be able to look down & see me not butcher ur intro, sooner than later. God bless. And if anyone is reading this & thinking about taking your own life or someone else's, Please don't man. Just pick up a guitar & play out what your feeling man. I've beaten my guitar over the years when I'm feeling bad. My Guitar has helped me work thru so many good & completely horrible situations. Just pick up an instrument, any instrument man. Please Play.
thank you for making the song man
the song writing for them back in the good ol days seems to have come so easily
This Slash guy is super good! He should join a band.
LMFAO
Lol
The genius of youth and the adrenaline that tears it all apart, great insight to the song here.
Appetite For Destruction was a game changer. The soundtrack to my youth. Not necessarily a positive soundtrack, but one nonetheless.
GNR is such a great band. They killed it in their prime. They were made to perform. My favorite Rock band. 🤘
Y'know, I bought AfD in 1987...and I think this is the first time I've ever heard Slash's voice.
One of the most if not the most iconic intro in history of rock...
0:35 its the first time I see this intro being played with the exact same tone as in the studio.
Imagine hearing this song come together through the day, before any recording.
It’s always interesting to me that the best songs you think take forever to write and record were actually written in a day.
he's very humble. he was the core of all of those songs. none of those guys can do it without him but he can without them which is why velvet revolver was also great.
(Plays at guitar center) never saw the light of day again
Crazy to think if Axel never came over that day we may never have got this absolute masterpiece of a song.
Come on Slash you know Guitar Center's rules, no stairway to heaven.
Man, Slash is so cool! His coolness makes him the best guitarist ever in my opinion!
so axl said, "where do we go now?" and they turned it into part of the song...LOL
I cant believe it 😂
This song was playing on the radio the day I brought my first born daughter home from the hospital ❤
ah... scuze me brothers, the vid is clearly called shred with slash but i have yet to shred with slash a single fockin time
You're looking at one of the greatest guitar players of all time PERIOD
0:30
He knows exactly where to scratch there.
How jobless are you😂😂😂
The story I heard about it is the riff came from trying to make some producers laugh at a studio. They came walking in and he was trying to play something really sappy and cheesy to make them laugh, but they ended actually liking it. I don't remember where I read that....
This is one of the few songs that makes me cry--like a religious hymn for me. Never heard the story behind it till now.
This solo took me 30 years but one day for Slash : ))
Ay up Stoke lad!
With many blessings to you and all whom you love. Regards AJ, Stoke, England.
I wish I had 4 JCM800's behind me.
No one ever mentions the chords for the song being one of the most important thing to make it awesome, so many nice changes really allow for the epic solo to be what it is. Take the same solo and play it over 3 chords in the right key and it's still never gonna happen work so well. 👌👍
walking legend
I love hearing this story of the song, I've got so much love for slash, mainly coz his English but how could you not be proud of him if his one if your own?
Odd, in his book Slash said that he and Steven were at a guitar store and as a gag, Slash started playing music that sounded like it belonged in a carnival. Adler looked at Slash and said something to the effect of, "hey that sounds really cool, you flesh that out." Oh well, I guess the origin is immaterial. The song is with us and it's one of the best ballads ever.
Music Power Slash was so fucked on drugs back in the day it’s hard to believe everything he says. That’s one of the reasons why I generally believed Axl over him when they were conflicting, not cause I hate Slash, but just cause of the logic that drugs fucks up your memories.
I love this guy with all my heart. So thankful to God for creating such a talented guy
3:25 "Alright, let's move on" lol, that was unexpected.
I think he meant not move on from the question but if the song takes more than a day to write let's move on as in from the song lol
Excellent music. Remember where I was when I heard this song.
Slash is really an underrated guitarist. He is no where near Eddie Van Halen, although Eddie is, in my opinion, the only guitarist that is worthy of being compared to Hendrix. Slash is a great guitarist that doesn't necessarily showcase his full capability in songs. Slash knows how to take a backseat to really demonstrate his band mates' skill, like Duff. Slash is a fantastic guitarist that is ageless. His solo albums really demonstrate how he can take a back seat to showcase the band but at the same time be so prominent. He is a fantastic guitarist, he just doesn't have the same playing style as Eddie Van Halen, Eric Clapton, or Stevie Ray Vaughn where the guitar almost over powers the song. With that being said, I'm not talking shit about any of those guys, they are amazing guitarists. It's just Slash has a somewhat different playing style which leads people to believe he is not as great of a guitarist as he really is. Don't believe me? Look up "Hold On" off his solo album, really demonstrates and reiterates what I'm talking about. Slash is easily a top 10 guitarist.
This is why I respect Slash so much, he really does showcase all of the others above himself, and then comes on with his solos. Like Todd Dammit Kerns, one of the best live Bassists ive seen, so energetic and Slashs songs really showcase his talents.
+Mike McAndrew So what, he doesnt shred all the time therefore making him underrated?
they are different in their own way, slash is more blues rock.
+Mike McAndrew I hear younger people say Hendrix wasn't all that great, but you have to put it all in context. When Hendrix came onto the scene, there was Nothing to compare him to. He blew Everyone away, and had folks like Clapton, Beck, The Beatles and many, many others in awe of his talent.
I feel blessed to have been around when Eddie Van Halen came out with his first album. I can only imagine what it was like to hear Hendrix in the 60's.
That must have been something special.
Honestly Eddie is overrated in my opinion. Don't get me wrong he's definitely in my top 10, but I just don't feel much emotion in his songs. Slash, Jimi Hendrix and others all play somewhat slow but you can really feel what they wanted to put into their song. Slash is better in my opinion because it's more as if the band made a song and then he fixed his riffs and solos to play to the song, instead of van halen coming up with a riff and then having the band play to that riff.
Sweet Child creation told by Slash! Fantastic!
Slash is God... From there, Led Zeppelin telling the heaven.
Thanx Guitar Center
They climb the Stairway to Heaven, then they Knock on Heaven's Door, realising that they're Locked out of Heaven. After ages of waiting, they enter and are so relieved to have made it they make Tears in Heaven.
This is the most I've heard Slash speak in more than 30 years.
they made it by coincidence , so this is the best coincidence ever
Energies between artists genius and masterpiece is born love this❤❤💯💯👌👌💙💙
probably he missed the word weed as he was saying how the song came about.
Hahahahaha
hahah yes
Johnny Valencia cough acid cough
He was actually doing heroin at this time, weed wasn't a big enough rush for him. He wrote a whole book on the formation of the band
@Nintariz weed isn't as bad as some might believe
wow, slash is so inspiring!! i just watched 3-4 vids of him and BAM i sat down with my guitar and shredded the hell out of it!!!
0:36 Fucking Sandstorm. It's everywhere!
Musicians at their finest !!! Accidentally coming up with a hit song and “IT” becoming a staple ..
Any of the simple 3 chord stuff is Izzy. Izzy - Thanks Slash. Really generous of you.
Imagine that! They were just hanging around and created a classic
the way he got this riff i saw it the producer said he was drunk in the studio and slash did this riff as a an ice cream truck it was like a joke and thats why slash dosent remember where he came from this riff
Slash is so awesome he sat on his top hat and turned it into a fedora
Who"s watching this in 2020
and that folks is how the magic of great songwriting happens.
That's not Slash, his hat is wrong. Nice try though...
volimNestea he where's different hats
+griffin games "wheres" lol. U mean wears?
griffin games r/whooooossshhh
I just started learning to play electric guitar a year ago. My goal is to to play this whole song, just like Slash did. My favorite song 🎵
You know pedals for slash sound? In Sweet child o' mine in particular
@The Monkey Magic no I dont... do you? What do I need to do?
His voice is amazing
That solo is redeeming indeed 💥
Anyone else notice he's not wearing his top hat
+jack rodman But I've seen him out with his wife and he was wearing it
He stole izzys hat
I heard someone stole it
Really like to listen the story behind song which is my all time favorite.its like personalize a song, giving soul to a simple song....really nice...
I see a Les Paul Special Vintage Sunburst back there. :O
I love how no one gives Izzy Stradlin any credit whatsoever for his songwriting and guitar sound even though he deserves it as much as Slash does.
Right “those simply 3 chords Izzy does” like man wtf Izzy wrote some great stuff, plays one of the best rhythm guitar I’ve ever heard ,fantastic musician
Yeah sweet child o mine becomes the worst riff in existance when the tone is even slightly off
no he doesn't why do people say nonsense like this.
so my fav guitar riff of all time was kind of an accident
Sweet child o Mine and November Rain Solo (3:52 ) 😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍😊😊😊🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 are favorite.
Saul Hudson
he's so chilled, relaxed and in a totally weird way COOL !
For everyone say sweet child o mine is easy.... I know how to play the entire song. The intro is pretty easy and a lot of fun actually. The verses are even easier as long as you can hit a hammer-on without moving any of your other fingers. As soon as you start getting into the solo it starts to get very technical, Slash used a lot of bends, pull-offs hammer-ons, slides even a light sweep pick and blended it all together perfectly. One little mistake can really throw it off. It's not the hardest solo for sure but definitely isn't easy either. all together I would say you need to be an average-pro guitar player before playing it.
Yes, i agree, solo part is very technically, u cant even be the same As slash pick the tone he has made in this solo section.
Just to think about it it was composed by one guy..Also its not really that "difficult" I consider myself a low level medium player and I can play it, but its only because of all the times I had to practice
@@vlad.the.impaler. well i mean...i play it too...but can you REPLICATE it as close as you can? ONLY THEN you will see it has so many details that make it even more difficult...playing the notes is one thing....expressing them as Slash does on the recording.....another story.THAT'S what people dont get...
Most of the covers i see , they bend 4 times at one specific point of the solo while Slash does 5 bends squished on perfect timing....he bends and vibrato-es, 1 1/2 bend at the end....all those things are important...one does not simply play the notes and claims he can play it.
@@Suzumebachigr notice how I say I canplay it, never said I could relpicate what slash himself does..
The entire song kind of came together, that evening !!!!
I what that Les Paul gold. :* its fucking sad that I don't own a single one n he got a showroom
I'm the same :'C
Sweet Home Alabama was written in the same fashion. Playing rifts in a broken down house and Ronny started to our lyrics to it on his own. Best music comes from these places.
I wonder what his real name is ? maybe he has transcended above a normal identity and on his every contract or legal document he just writes Slash and nobody would ever dare question that because he is the one and only slash, he doesn't need a regular name. And he's allowed to wear glasses all the time and anywhere even in church !! and always with a high hat which in some way makes him look like he travels with a carnival !!
Haha, John this is a brilliant comment! Read it twice, hilarious man!
Saul Hudson
John Keen haha thanks mate seriously I was just blabbering like 05:30 in the morning XD
serhat1 Really ? Saul Hudson, naah I'm sticking with Slash good ol Saul Hudson sounds like someone who works in a bank XD
John Gunnerek Well his net worth is $32 MILLION he might be helping out the bank to count his money.
slash is the reason y i started playing guitar sweet child o' mine was the first song i started learning :o
The best part about this...
Is that he's wearing glasses
