If you look at the McGonnagal vs Snape fight closely, you can see that Snape never attacks McGonnagal, he is always just protecting himself. On top of that it actually is Snape who deflects McGonnagal's spell on the Carrows to protect McGonnagal and the kids while he runs away, keeping his true agency secret for both the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters.
in the book, Snape and Minerva duel with flaming snakes and daggers, and Snape doesnt seem concerned about the children. it's much cooler fight. Movie Snape is a different character altogether. He immediately flees lol.
@@conormurphy4328 Even though the scene itself didn't make the cut, it shows what the intention of Mcgonagall/the filmmakers was here. So it isn't really left up to interpretation.
I like how Snape secretly deflected the spell that McGonagall's spell sent at him during the duel to take out the Carrows, hinting at his real allegiance being to Dumbledore and Harry Potter.
I agree that the leaving out of Dumbledore's backstory was disappointing. I will say this for the film. At least they fixed one the silliest moments in the book, where the Order of the Pheonix decides to go out on the grounds to attack the death eaters, which seems like the worst strategy possible.
William Wehrs Yes, they really should have included Dumbledore’s backstory. And Lupin’s story. Especially since so many people don’t bother to read the books, and Dumbledore’s story with Grindewald is a part of the Fantastic Beasts films, which I’m assuming those same people would like to watch.
re: voldemort disintegrating, i think they did this to show a physical representation of how splitting your soul so many times essentially turns you into nothing. at least that's what i got from it.
I belive that the Malfoys were mentioned in the aftermath of the battle as 'sitting awkawardly feeling they shouldn't be here while everyone celebrates.' I am not 100% sure as I read the books a while ago but I think they were mentioned after the battle.
VOICE-GUY! I want to thank you for these videos. I play them to fall asleep as your voice is so nice and relaxing to listen to. Of course I enjoy them regardless. How about doing a vid on a modern classic like Titanic or Inception?
They picked cat noises for the Hogsmeade alarm because it’s actually a “Cat”erwauling charm. Also, I imagine Harry was just saying something like “Oi, open up!” when he was telling the sink and door to open. That will continue to be my headcanon until proven otherwise.
19:04 I’m surprised you never thought the battle was that brutal to be honest, it’s still bad in the book but the shot in particular of greyback attacking Lavender- Ron’s girlfriend from half blood Prince- really shocked me and thought it showed how bad the battle is and how no one is safe
Thank you for correcting me on that point. I'm not too fluent in the language of plot as much as I am in the analysis of film so I ask - what word/phrase should I have used instead?
They should redo Harry Potter but as a TV series on Netflix or something. That way they could stick 100% to the books and have more time to flesh things out and create a more coherent story.
Joravil You've hit the nail on the head. Harry hadn't acknowledged that you cannot add all the details of such a complex book into just a few hours of a film. Many BBC adaptations over a few weeks can do that. Have you ever seen the FULL version of say Oliver Twist or Great Expectations compared to a 2 hour film? You'd be very surprised how much is cut. Harry's review is deeply flawed.
In the book the Malfoys are actually seen after the battle sitting awkwardly with everyone else wondering if they're actually allowed to be there or if nobody had noticed them.
im glad you also found the "celebration" of voldemorts death, basically everyone drinking tea and hagrid saying harry's name, was pointless. it kind of ruined the end of the battle of hogwarts for me. the book ending was much better great reviews overall. i love hearing comparisons between book and movie
I know they didn’t explain it in the film, but around the 5:40 mark you talked about the alarm in Hogsmeade. I believe the alarm was the product of a Caterwauling charm (in the book) So idk. The word cat is in there. Why not cat screeches am I right? Right? Anyone..?
I think I liked the last film far more than you did, but I will definitely say that if you did not read the book, you’ll be lost on multiple occasions. I read it before watching the movies, but I remember thinking how I understood most of what was happening due to what I’d read before and not what was presented, unfortunately.
Voldemort did not check for a pulse on harry because when he killed harry Voldemort also fainted because harry was a horcrux. It says he seems scared to touch harry.
@@ryanm666 omg this comment is so old but I dont like Harry Potter anymore since jk Rowling is a TERF so it's a shame Voldemort didn't think to use Crucio cause then he could have ended the series early.
The elder wand theory is a plot hole in both versions. There are a few videos that explain this theory, check it out and see for yourself if it's a plot hole. I would also like to add that the way Snape died was only for the convenience of the plot. Voldy could have used the killing curse to kill snape. What's even worse is in the film where Voldemort slits Snape's throat with the wand before killing him. This doesn't make sense since he could have used the killing curse instead of giving him a severe and painful death. The only explanation is for the convenience of the plot, for harry to get Snape's memories.
As a big fan of the books when they came out, this movie was good but not great when I first watched in theaters. And since then, the flaws that bugged me the first time just stand out more and more, leaving a bitter aftertaste for this movie
I did get to see this in theaters and I'm not much a fan of 3d either HOWEVER it was done really masterfully and when voldy kinda disintegrated at the end the entire theater looked like it was filled with the little floating pieces of him and it was incredibly magical to experience.
Yup! I'm aiming to make that video this week funnily enough, not entirely sure what exactly I'm gonna talk about but I'm gonna give it another watch and see what goodies I find inside!
You have an amazing voice for ASMR 😂 and your humor was on point. Love it and subbed! Yes I'm that sad as well now only am i into Harry Potter now. Sorted in Slytherin instead.

Great review, as usual, but I honestly went in expecting a lot more about the Elder Wand ownership switch at the end. Much becuase I don't remember a lot of what happened there, so I was hoping for a refreshment, but still.
Eh, if you saw Hogwarts Jesus rise from the dead YET AGAIN AFTER VOLDY FAILED TO KILL HIM FOR THE EIGHTH TIME, wouldn't you be like "You know, this isn't going to end the way we want it t0" and apparate the heck out of there?
im really curious as to why you want to "run fantastic beasts and where to find them into the ground" aside from the movie sharing the name with the book and the book being mentioned in the movie, i dont think its really about that. it also not technically a harry potter movie and as such shouldnt be compared to them as i see so many people do. i personally loved the movie and i really want to hear your opinion on it and why (im assuming) you didnt like it.
Possible spoilers for crimes of grindlewald........ isn’t credence ariana’s obscurous? Like it was a big twist but I kind guessed it was gonna go that way
Eh I considered Part One to be my least favourite out of all the films - it was mainly just filler, and I disagreed with you regarding Part Two aswell :/ Each to their own i suppose
Sarah Hughes deathly hallows part 1 is my favourite film after half blood prince. It’s such a human piece and really shows the connection of the trio. I just love, love, love the scene with Hermione propped up against the tree in the Forest of Dean where she says ‘maybe we should just stay here Harry and grow old’ it really shows how dire the situation is and gives us a glimpse into Hermiones character. And also DH part 1 has my favourite opening scene and opening music of all 8 films. And Bellatrix as Hermione is great, it feels as if I’m actually watching Hermione in a disguise she got it perfectly
I don't really mind Voldemort not checking Harry's body, to me it makes sense. Time after time voldemort had thought he'd finnaly got Harry just to be triumphed by him. He'd want to put a death eater on the line (one who's disappointed him countless times and doesn't care for them) instead of himself. I think it shows how precautious he was not to have his plan ruined again, even though it did lead to his downfall.
The fun thing is, Dumbledore's backstory is cut from this movie, but I think we might still see it in Fantastic Beasts, considering where this movies are possibly going.
I actually enjoyed the fantastic beasts & where to find them but it really doesn't feel like a Harry Potter film & was a huge stretch.
