I Identified Every Actor in HARRY POTTER
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 чер 2024
- Join me for an hour as I breakdown the careers of every single actor that appears in the 1st Harry Potter movie! I look behind the scenes to discover cameos you might not have known about. And I take to biographies to uncover interesting links between the Sorcerer's Stone and other films its stars have appeared in. Also, for some actors, I look a look at what they did before Potter, what they were acting in then, and what they're doing now. Some actors have sadly passed away, but others have gone onto have thriving careers.

Ok, dude, not sure if you’re aware of the stuff that Rowling has been saying over Twitter, but I think you need to be. Because she said that anyone who supports her works also supports her views, which are horrible. Is that really what you want?
Great video. One typo, 01:10 , Richard Harris was in Camelot as King ARTHUR. An honest mistake. You are confounding this , his most famous role, with his portrait of King Richard the Lionheart in "Robin and Marian". Good job though. So much detail in this video. Love your work
Great video! However, the title had me confused for a second. I thought this was going to be literally every actor in the entire HP franchise, according to the title… not just the Philosopher’s Stone. I was gonna say… how could you not include Katie Leung (Cho Chang), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory), especially the latter, of all people to not include??? 🤣Glad it was clarified in the actual video, but you might want to be more specific with the title.
Fun fact: Unlike his character Richard Griffiths found the idea of a boy going to a magical school fascinating and asked JK Rowling and co if they could film a scene where Vernon visits Hogwarts but that was turned down. I find that idea very interesting.
Also fun fact about Melling:
His grandfather is Patrick Troughton the person who plays the 2nd Doctor in the BBC's Doctor Who
I'd also like to point out for Danielle Radcliffe: he also had a role in the movie _Now You See Me 2,_ as the main antagonist who (funny enough) doesn't believe in magic.
Forgot about that one! Radcliffe has definitely broken free of the child actor curse. He's had a stunning career!
Oh my god wow it’s like he plays different characters in different movies whoahhhhhh I thought every movie he was in was part of the Hogwarts universe whaaaaa you blew my mind. I thought Guns Akimbo was just a crazy spell Voldamort cursed on him
@@SOSOLRAK he was taking about the irony of being famous for his wizard character and then playing a character who doesn’t believe in magic
Not too smart are you mate?
@@YodaOnABender wow so like he’s playing different roles woooooooooooow amazing
@@SOSOLRAK for a guy who calls himself the comedian you’re not very funny mate
Fun fact: David Bradley once played the first Doctor in an episode of Doctor Who; but a few years prior he played William Hartnell in a docu-drama about the making of Doctor Who. Hartnell being the original actor who played the first Doctor.
For those wanting an explanation, Zoe Wanamaker plays Cassandra, the last human, in Doctor Who. Or, as she's affectionately nicknamed in the show, 'The Bitchy Trampoline'.
Her character wasn't even a one-off, either. The following season of the show featured an appearance from her in the flesh as a past version of herself.
Other actors even did impressions of Cassandra when she started switching bodies, including David Tennant for a spell.
Basically that was all that was left after she ensured that she remained genetically pure, when compared to other humans who, by her time in the future, were essentially hybrids. Also, it's okay if you don't get it. We Whovians think it's ridiculous too.
@@kerosarriola5979 Kind of. I believe she was the last genetically pure human, just because she survived all other "pure" ones. I always assumed her being thin was because (social commentary!) it was a beauty ideal for women to be thin, and after a lot of plastic surgery, she got as thin as she could be. But I suppose she was also really old, so I guess that too.
7:42 He’s also the grandson of actor Patrick Troughton, who is world widely famous for playing The 2nd Doctor in Doctor Who
To add onto all the Dr Who references, Harry Melling is the Grandson of 2nd Dr, Patrick Troughton, which some others have mentioned, and Alfred Enoch is the son of William Russell, who played a companion of the 1st Dr.
*Richard Harris sings Camelot*
"Dumbledore's got style".
😂
These videos are fantastic. Hope to see a series as extensive as your reviews with these videos :)
Edit: also, being a Doctor Who fan, that thing that Zoe Wanamaker plays is “Cassandra,” who in Doctor Who is canonically the last remaining “pure” human, who in order to live forever, has stretched herself as a single piece of skin on a metal frame with her brain in a jar below it. It’s very odd indeed, but in the context of the show is very interesting.
Thanks so much!
And in season 2 she used a device to switch herself from body to body and funnily enough died in her own arms as the doctor take her back in time when she uses her servants body.
@@TheUnusualSuspect I think you will like Doctor Who seeing as you’re a fan of things like Star Wars. I’d recommend it at some point but if it’s not your cup of tea then that’s fine
I'm the Harry Potter fan since my early childhood (so that would be for ~20 years), but you totally blew my mind with this. So many connections I missed! My favorite new fact is about Violet Columbus as portrait girl. Thank you very much! Can't wait for next one
A couple Doctor Who connections you missed!
Harry Melling is the grandson of 2nd Doctor, Patrick Troughton
Alfred Enoch is the son (not Grandson, son) of Ian Chesterton, William Russel.
This Friday just got a whole lot better
You made a Wood joke about that one scene, but I really hope it was intentional to miss that his surname was BIGGERSTAFF…. and he played a character named WOOD! 🤣
Here are a few more roles (that I know of) for some of the actors that you've mentioned:
-Maggie Smith (Clash of the Titans-1981, Hook, The Secret Garden-1993, 1st Wives Club, Nanny McPhee Returns, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel & The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel 2)
-Robbie Coltrane (Buddy & Nanny McPhee Returns)
-Fiona Shaw (Pixels)
-Richard Griffiths (Sleepy Hollow-1999, A Muppets Christmas: Letters to Santa, Bedtime Stories & About Time)
-Daniel Radcliffe (Robot Chicken, Horns, Now You See Me 2, Simpsons-Treehouse of Horror XXI, The Playmobil Movie & The Lost City)
-John Hurt (Planet Dinosaur & Jackie)
-Harry Taylor (Harry Potter: Hogwarts: Tournament of Houses)
-Julie Walters (Mama Mia: Here We Go Again!)
-Emma Watson (This Is The End & The Perks of Being a Wall Flower)
-John Cleese (George of the Jungle-1997, George of the Jungle 2-2003 & Dreamwork's Trolls)
-Simon Fisher Becker (Harry Potter: Hogwarts: Tournament of Houses)
-Alan Rickman (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy & Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland)
-Luke Youngblood (Harry Potter: Hogwarts: Tournament of Houses)
So you decided to take a break from Star Wars and moved on to Harry Potter for this video? Wonderful! This video was planned perfectly...just in time for the 20th Anniversary of the Harry Potter Films!!!
Still hoping you eventually make an "EVERY Actor in Jurassic Park" video?
I noticed Tom Felton in the flash and was sooooo happy when you mentioned it in the video as I’m a huge fan of the show after watching all 7 seasons of it
Man, your effort and quality still astounds me to this day. You are and will forever remain, my favourite UA-camr! Great work Suspect!
Really appreciate that! Thanks so much!
@@TheUnusualSuspect it’s the least I could do for such amazing content. Btw, the discord link you put in the description isn’t working, if you do have a discord, I’d really like to join it. Thanks.
Marcus Flint was the kid from Mr Bean?? Holy shit! I never would have guessed that in a million years.
At 46:43 Alfred Enoch is Also the son of actor William Russell who played one of the first three companions in doctor who Ian Chesterton
I'd like to add to Verne Troyer's career, he was Dex's furry creature sidekick Ferbus in Saban's Masked Rider, an adaptation of the Japanese superhero show Kamen Rider Black RX. He wasn't particularly happy with the show, but appreciated the experience.
John Hurt interestingly provided the voice for the villain Sailor John in the Thomas the Tank Engine movie Sodor's Legend of the Lost Treasure.
The skin with a face Zoe Wanamaker plays in Doctor Who was called Lady Cassandra O'Brien, the 'last human' of Earth before it was destroyed in the far future. Basically she had so much cosmetic surgery she ended up as a sheet of skin with eyes and a mouth in constant need of moisturising, with her brain in a jar. And she also possesses Rose in her second appearance.
Hey you forgot to mention that Harry melling is the grandson of the second doctor who actor. And you missed mentioning Jarred Harris in Sherlock Holmes. also richard griffiths Chariots of Fire and Pie in the Sky, what the Hot fuzz scene for David Bradley. Great video man, Hope you don't mind the suggestions
Kiran Shah 19:10, one of the goblins named and stunt double for super man, was also in Narnia, The lion, the witch and the wardrobe, as the Witch's little helper
Matthew Lewis also appeared very briefly in Sharpes Justice. The scene where Richard Sharpe returns to the orphanage where he was raised.
Hey did you know Maggie Smith was going to play aunt May in James Cameron's version of Spider-Man
Just looked it up, that's crazy! Apparently Katharine Hepburn was considered too!
Been waiting eagerly for the next part of this type of video. 1 whole hour 😍
Honestly hoping the next one was Revenge of the Sith. But at the same time, I am now looking forward for the Harry Potter cast videos.
Who would’ve thought that professor mygonigal’s son is a Bond villain
@@Exile19941 Or that a younger Harry Potter knew three of Hogwarts' teachers before he attended Hogwarts.
I mean, I knew. But that's mainly I saw David Copperfield.
Thanks for taking the time to do these videos, they are extremely enojable to watch and just want to keep going until the end of them! 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Greeting from México 🇲🇽
I look forward to more of your work!
Here’s a fun fact: in one of my film arts project, I went to film a real live owl for a few shots. The owl in question, real name Harley, actually appears in Harry Potter in the very first scene he’s in. He’s an Eurasian Eagle Owl and he resides in the World of Owls Sanctuary in Randalstown County Antrim in Northern Ireland. In layman’s terms, I got to see and film an owl superstar!
Thanks for sharing! Couldn't find any info about that particular owl; so that's a scoop you've shared right there :)
Such a well done video! Really looking forward to the rest of the series
Draco Malfoy was the kid from the Borrowers?
This is why I subscribed to you, Ross. Great video, as always. Thanks for teaching me something today.
It’s always good when Ross uploads
Yeayyyyy finally a long video agen thanx soo soo much bro.
Huh. Didn’t know John Cleese was in the Muppet Show. I’ll have to check that out.
Heh. They make an Ex Parrot reference.
Thanks suspect, great video as always
Always impressed with the effort you put into your videos. Even if you're really busy in life I'm still sticking around for this channel
Just saw this after hearing the news: R.I.P. Hagrid
Brilliant stuff
Alternative Drinking game: Take a shot every time Suspect mentions an actor who stars in Doctor Who.
David Bradley also played William Hartnell in An Adventure In Space and Time, a movie about the creation of Doctor Who.
So David Bradley played The First Doctor and the actor who played The First Doctor!
Fun fact: Harry Melling, Dudley's actor, is the grandson of Patrick Troughton who is best known for playing The Second Doctor in Doctor Who
I am loving these type of video’s. How you get all this information is very impressive. This must’ve taken ages to put together. Big like, always following your great content Suspect.
At 45:00 Zoe Wanamaker plays Cassandra the first human in doctor who (the skin on the metal frame
Wow, there was a lot more Doctor Who actors in this film than I realised.
Oh well I don’t mind as I love whenever I see Doctor Who actors 😂
Another great look at a great cast and their history of acting. Will be fun to see what other connections appear throughout all the Potter films. For instance, it'd be a fun connection if anyone from the Potter films had appeared in Power Rangers at any point.
I could watch these all day, I love em
Ah yes! Zoë Wanamaker as the Lady Cassandra, she made two appearances in Doctor Who as the same character in Series 1 and 2. She was introduced in the second episode of the first series as the “last human” in the distant future when the original Earth is about to be destroyed by the expanding sun. She and a whole bunch of wealthy aliens have come around to watch the planet’s last moments with Cassandra being considered a special guest. Cassandra is basically what happens when you got way too much money and undergo WAY too much plastic surgery. That’s basically the joke about her appearance: she’s insanely rich and spends all her money on vanity and preserving herself. She’s not really the last human as humanity crossbred with other alien species over billions of years. Cassandra considers herself the last “pure” human and took EXTREME measures to preserve her perceived purity and life. She’s basically just skin with lips, eyes, her brain is in a jar beneath her, and she needs to be moisturized every few minutes. Eww. In the second series, actors Billie Piper and David Tennant actually got to play as Cassandra as she somehow possessed their bodies in order to keep staying alive. Zoë Wanamaker also appears in the episode in person back when she was younger (and had a body)
Edit: Hope that clears it up, unless someone else beat me to it… they did, didn’t they?
Love it when you upload mate so whatever you upload I’ll watch. But was wondering when are the Mcu movie reviews coming? And will you ever do it?
great video, as alwaays :)
Nice work
I can't wait for chamber of secrets and for you to talk about Louis Doyle, Edward Randell and Charlotte Skeoch
Would still love For you to continue the series, especially since like you said, the future videos won’t be as long because there’s not as many characters! :-)
Thank you, Unusual Suspect, for introducing me to the greatness that is “Lightning” from Postman Pat: The Movie.
*_Oh oh, oh oh; There you go_* 🎼🎵🎶
the bearded man sitting next to lee jordan 51:16 is tom feltons grandfather
Thanks for sharing! Did not know that one!
48:02 That episode takes place 5 billion years in the future, where cosmetic surgery has become advanced enough for a human being to become… that
I find it hilarious that the most shocking one for me out of this entire video was Youngblood playing magnitude from community. How did I never figure that out?
I love you and your content
Zoë Wanamaker played Cassandra the last human in Doctor Who, the reason she looks like a trampoline XD is because she's had unhealthy amounts of surgery to extend her life, her brain is in a jar at the bottom of her trolley thing
An hour long Unusual suspect video?
It must be my birthday! 😁
After I watched this the first time I decided to watch the Mr Bean clip of Marcus Flint getting his haircut I actually started to laugh
A really underrated performance by Harry Melling was in The Devil All The Time. He plays a young preacher who is driven by the power of God so much that he stabs his wife to death and is convinced that he can resurrect her. It's a shame that a lot of people don't recognise this performance because it is one of the most chilling I have ever seen.
10:42 Hello Rodney Trotter.
How interesting!
Also have you considered doing one of these on 12 angry men as well (should be simple enough right)
Yeah, haha. Wouldn't take long that one. I don't think it's well known enough though for modern day audiences. Maybe I might do it if this series ever takes off.
Yeah that's fair enough. (I mainly suggested it because of what one of the 12 also did voice-over wise) 😉
He’s back
When you wear talking about Zoe Wanamaker and My Family I was hoping you would bring this up. Gabriel Thomson who plays Michael in that show was one of actors considered to play Harry but Christopher Columbus decided not to cast him because he believed Gabriel was too old for the role.
Things Suspect needs to review:
- All 3 Fable games
- Series 5 of Doctor Who (peak)
love the fact that you have an iron man infinity gauntlet in the back
45:04 you’re welcome for that information for those who are confused I told suspect about Rasputin and another person who plays Rasputin which I think we’ll get to him in the future
Decent to say the harry potter cast is an all star line up across all 8 films
One of my favorite films that Richard Harris starred in was the 1977 film *"ORCA: The Killer Whale",* produced by Dino De Laurentiis of *"Death Wish"* & *"KING KONG '76"* with an Oscar-worthy film score by Ennio Morricone.
And Fun Fact:
He and George C. Scott were both considered for the role of Captain Englehorn in Universal's first attempt
of a Kong remake between 1975-1976 entitled *"The Legend of KING KONG".*
David Bradley also played a role in the first Captain America Movie.
Personal trivia (amendment) Made a mistake regarding my parents connection with Alan Rickman, They baby sat the kids of Jonathan Pryce (Governor Swan) and just met Rickman at events the two actors attended not quite the same, but still pretty cool.
The character with the surname Wood is played by a guy called....Biggerstaff. Beautiful.
OMG YESSS!
I can't wait for DT in part 4
I remember Maggie Smith as Thetis from Clash of the Titans and man were her blank stares absolutely haunting to me. Even now.
The only good thing about a Cursed Child movie would be Jean Southern coming back as the Trolley Lady. I hear there's a mental scene with the character.
Explanation for Doctor Who character:
48:02 Of course! In the second episode of the revival series, The Doctor takes his new companion, Rose, on her first trip through time and space. They arrive on a satellite that is observing the destruction of Earth billions of years in the future when the Sun expands and engulfs the Earth. The character Zoe plays here is known as the last human who has lived for millenia if not millions or billions of years (I think, it's been a while since I watched it) because she has had so many surgeries that she eventually turned into a "bitchy trampoline" as Rose puts it. Her character is smug, narcissistic, and entitled. If I remember correctly, she ends up being one of the antagonists in that episode and the Doctor ends up foiling her plan, but due to her need to be moisturuzed constantly, she ends up drying out and dying with the ironic last words "I'm. Too. Young!"
50:30 Suspect you're a comic genius!
It's actually insane how pretty much every actor is from the UK. MCU is insane but Disney could never pull off what Warner Bros did for Harry Potter.
And not even that but the diversity of talent from beginner to veterans is crazy.
How strange that a movie about UK Wizards has exclusively UK Actors??
@@weeping_me362 You joke, but there really were ideas from executives to cast one of the main characters (I think Hermione) with an American actor, and to have cheerleaders at the Quidditch games (seriously). Thankfully all those ideas were nixed, and the film’s success helped pave the way for later book adaptations like Narnia to not force in American characters for the sake of making it palatable to that audience.
At 28:30 Rupert grintt also was in a sky one show called sick note alongside nick frost
Hey Ross, love the video can’t wait for more just wondering did you see spider-Man no way home if so what did you think of it
I did, it was brilliant. Hard to talk about it without spoiling the living crap out of it, but I loved the interplay between the characters! It was fan servicey, yeah, but in the best possible way. A real crowd pleaser. Possibly Holland's best one yet.
Harry melling was being touted for bond recently
@The Unusual Suspect Julie Walters was also in Mary Poppins Returns
I just learned that Michael Gambon has joined Richard Harris in Heaven, as he passed away two days ago, at the age of 82.
R.I.P. the two Albus Dumbeldores. 😔
Harry Potter and his cohorts are great and mystical people!
1:45 to 1:48 so thats were weird al parody for the jurassic park song.
As requested. Zoë Wannamaker was playing Cassandra, the last human in Doctor Who. A woman who had undergone so much plastic surgery to keep herself looking young that all that was left was a single stretch of skin, her eyes, mouth and her brain (in a jar at the foot of the contraption).
It’s only a voice role in her first appearance but does get to play the pre-surgery human form in flashbacks when she returns for series 2.
As someone who's from Alnwick, I feel obliged to make mention of a place instead of a person. Some scenes from Hogwarts from the first two Harry Potter movies was shot in Alnwick Castle, most notably the scene where Harry Potter first rides a broom and subsequently gets scouted as a Seeker by Mcgonagall. The statues in that scene actually exist on the castle's battlements, meant to confuse enemy soldiers back when it was an actually fortress. It was also in the Transformers: The Last Knight, but it's less celebrated by the castle for some reason.
Of course, the people who run the castle do not shut up about that scene seeing as it's the main advertisement for the Castle and the town in general. But hey, if you want some crappy Harry Potter merch...
No way, I actually lived in Alnwick for a year (and only live 30 minutes south of it atm). They've shot scenes for the upcoming Dungeons and Dragons there too. I was gutted, cause I totally would've applied to be an extra had I known.
Daniel finally got his mtv best villian award for the lost city
We very nearly got Ric Mayall as Peeves
I'm surprised you didn't mention that Harry Melling is the grandson of Patrick Troughton
^This
Darn it, missed that one! Thanks for sharing! Gonna have to pay closer attention to family links for future episodes.
@@TheUnusualSuspect Great video
@@TheUnusualSuspect Also Alfred Enoch is the son of William Russell, who played Companion Ian Chesterton in Doctor Who in the 60s
@@anttibjorklund1869 Damn, I didn't know that one. Thanks
You should do one of these videos for spiderman 1
You missed a trick with Tom Felton in The Flash. You could have had a clip of him telling Barry Allen that he's looking for The Philosophers Stone, which was the McGuffin in that season.
47:53 that’s Lady Cassandra that Zoe Wanamaker voiced, the episode was set in 5 billion years in the future the time where it’s the end of planet Earth. According fandom wiki Her life was extended through a series of seven hundred and eight plastic surgery operations until she was nothing but a piece of skin stretched onto a frame with eyes and a mouth, connected to a brain in a jar below. her skin needed to stay moistured. Hope that explains it
ThAts sooo cool for the chauffeur he must be a good guy I imagine a lot of actors just ignore their drivers
Cool! Harry Potter!
Are you gonna continue And cover the rest of the Harry Potter and fantastic beasts movies? Would be truly gratefully appreciated :-) #FantasticBeastsTheSecretsOfDumbledore
