We are so glad you are okay after Bill became aggressive, especially because you are such an animal person and have so much respect and experience with animals, We are so excited to watch this season as you venture down to Texas. We loved Utah when e were there last October….until the snow came. We hope you have great travels and many more adventures!
You noticed that, eh? We disagree on the definition of 'hot' where Jay's definition is in line with folks who live in northern climates and Mel's inline with those who live on the face of the sun 😂
OMG...thats so scary, sorry that happened to you !!! we have been around Bison before both on a bison farm and in South Dakota in the wild...they can be so unpredictable we are both very happy that all turned out well for you Mel WOW Another great episode on this years adventure !
Enjoying your videos! Brought back memories of a close call with bison in northern BC near Liard Hot Springs. Great video, love following your road trips! Keep safe 😊
oh wow! Yeah, they can be pretty unpredictable creatures it seems and close calls happen more often than we realized. Since this happened, Mel's Facebook feed is filled with videos of close encounters with wildlife 😅
Yeah won't be doing that again! Met another lone jogger on the trail going in the opposite direction, but he seemed local and experienced in bison avoidance.
I stayed at that campground in late spring/early summer on my way to Yellowstone NP. The mosquitos were so bad they made tall "tornados" that you could see while driving down the road. You couldn't put enough mosquito repellent on to beat them. Great campground though.
oh wow, so it sounds like this is the place to go in the fall to avoid all the masses of insects. Hope you still had a nice visit and enjoyed Yellowstone!
I agree with Jay. He thinks you're cute Mel 😂. In all seriousness that was terrifyingly. I would have pooped myself Glad you're safe and avoid him What a beautiful place 😍
He sure has a strange way of showing his appreciation for my cuteness 😂 If my bladder would have been full, I think I definitely would have peed my pants!
Looks like you guys are having lots of fun. Pretty scary when something big like that is chasing you. I had a grizzly bear. Do it to me While running pipelines in Swan hills.
I know I would not like to be "friends with Bll" great video. Think we may meet up in San Antonio, Tx Michele thinks Rowell may be on the cold side for us reverse "snowbirds" maybe stop after South Padre Island?
Hi, glad you escaped Bill without a problem. Wow, that would get the heartrate up. Just wondering what time of year you were in Utah. I know youtubers generally don't give an indication of where and when they are in a specific location but, judging by the shelters over the picnic tables it would get very hot there in the summer. It would be helpful if my wife and I had general idea of when you two were there as it seems to be a nice time of year to be in that part of Utah - avoiding summer heat but also the winter weather.
Hi Pete, Great questions. We were there just recently in mid-November. For us, it was a perfect time of year to be there because, you're right, it can get really hot in the summer there. The daytime highs were about 15-18C and nighttime lows a little above freezing. If you are interested in Antelope Island specifically, every year at the end of October they round up all the bison for medical checks, headcount, etc. There are ranger programs that allow people to get up close to them in a safe way to really appreciate their size. Sadly we missed it this year but it looks like a neat event to witness.
Could be something else was going on with Bill -- in another part of the state recently, UA-camr Foresty Forest was chased up a canyon by a Bighorn Sheep. Apparently such things can happen during the rut . . . Glad everything ended okay!
Wow! Yes, we're glad it all turned out ok, too. It's definitely likely something was going on with Bill, but bison mating season happens from June to September.

Thanks! Thankfully things with Bill didn't go as sour as they could have.
Jay says it ‘s soooo warm…, next shot is Mel sitting in a chair in her down fill coat and head band. 😂

Thanks you two! So glad it didn't end worse, and definitely an adventure. Although can't say we'd recommend it!

Glad you have binos!
we finally remembered to use them!
Love your video and contents. Cheers and Enjoy the Journey !!!!!
Thanks! Enjoying the journey is definitely underrated, but one of the reason we love slow travel now!
I'm so glad you are ok! So scary
Yeah it was pretty tense there for a while. The heart was pounding in my chest!
Oh Mel huge hugs from Nova Scotia. Not the place for lone runs or hikes for sure.
Yeah won't be doing that again! Met another lone jogger on the trail going in the opposite direction, but he seemed local and experienced in bison avoidance.
thanks again! Great video
Thanks Doug! It was an adventure in that park for sure!

Oh wow, that must of been a bit scary! Nevertheless I had faith that you could out run it. 😂
Great video and content! Safe travels!
I think diving through the bushes made him think twice 😅

our hearts just stopped a little...a grizzly!? We can't think of anything more terrifying. How did you get away?...or did you? 🤯😧

Hmm… dreams of stampeding BUFFALO in your dreams Mel!!!!
I (M) don't think I could even imagine what an entire herd could do! Way more scary for sure.
