    Hi from Edmonton again, Watch one Advanture at a time, they also have not enough power in the pro master ( and traction issues on hills)
    Don’t be so fast to write off the sprinter line. We have a Roadtrek adventurous RS , 22.5 feet long, can park on the street to sleep if we have to. King size bed, Mercedes diesel that gets 24 mpg( no exaggeration here). Perfect for 2. Pricey, yes, but they also keep their value when resale time comes. If the emissions stuff is scary, buy an older one. Ours is a 2007, zero garbage like that. Doesn’t need DEF either. Indoor and outdoor showers, tons of storage and that diesel will pull up a hill past all the trailer rigs that are struggling. Can get it with 2 seats instead of 4 so you can add/have a pantry and clothes closet where the other 2seats would be. Look at the resale prices….. you’ll see the others fall much faster than a Roadtrek.

    Check out the AIRSTREAM RANGELINE (built on the ProMaster chassis). Full indoor wet-bath, elegant European-designed interior, quality solid cabinetry). Everything you need at a much lower price than the Panoramic. We LOVE ours!

    Watch The Vandersons. They have a Ram and have a ton of problems. They travelled a lot in South America too and sometimes had difficulty finding places to fix their vehicle.

    We have a Winnebago Solis 59P. We bought ours here in Texas. It may not be what your looking for but we love ours. We just hit 50k miles this week. Yes $260k is way to much money.

      PS Kale used to be classified as a superfood. However, it is now recognized as a major contributor to stones! Kidney, in particular. Far too high in oxalates for healthy consumption. Especially raw. Cook to death and don’t eat much!

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  17 днів тому

      That's what we thought. Glad to hear we aren't completely unrealistic in thinking a van shouldn't cost that much. We added it up - a brand new RAM is between 60-80,000, so with an asking price of $260,000 they are saying that the build is worth almost $200,000! Just, no.

    Wow very interesting topic on vans and gardening!! To me the price on vans and class c are very pricey!! Sometimes second hand looks ok but they can be close to the original price . So do I have a answere ?? To much money at this stage of my life . As you know I always enjoy your channel and your adventures and sometimes they are really interesting. This was one of them !!!!! As always BS & BK & BC !!!!

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  17 днів тому

      You're right about some selling for close to their original price. In fact, we have seen some vans sell for more than they were purchased for at the height of the pandemic when practically everyone was building a van and they were in such short supply. Maybe it's possible the RV market is still trying to ride that wave?

    Your gardens are amazing-the design, layout and the variety of plants. Some of my perennials are starting to look ‘autumnal’, but there is still lots of colour. You may have already done this, but with lots of plants like foxglove and salvia, etc., I snip off the finished blooms and often get a second flowering. 💕💕

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  17 днів тому +1

      We tried snipping the salvia and for some reason they didn't rebloom? The foxglove definitely bloomed a second time with smaller flowers, but still lovely. They are wild foxglove, though, and we've noticed that they don't last quite as long as the domesticated varieties.

    Wow 260 is a lot. There other things to consider. You mentioned the maintenance cost for the Mercedes but Chrysler 3.6 has issues and so does the older Ford Echobooste. If it's you guys I'd rent a Van for a week before jumping in with booth feet and 100k. I hear Jay is in love with the van concept but your spending a lot of time in a tiny space. Better safe than sorry. Good luck in your quest. The RV show coming this fall may have some deals to temp you guys

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  17 днів тому

      You bring up a really good idea. Thanks for suggesting it! We had previously not considered renting one because a) the rentals are really expensive, and that b) we were so set on vanlife. But it's definitely an option worth exploring at this point.

    Hi Mel and Jay, here’s a question you may have been asked before, so if you’ve done a video on this, let me know please. Debby, Wade, Jax and I are going south of the border in four weeks from now. We’re looking at Harvest Host and similar type discount accommodation sites. Which ones do you recommend and which ones are the better options? Cheers Eden

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  17 днів тому

      Hey Y'all! We've used Boondocker's Welcome, which is similar to Harvest Hosts, but campers stay at people's properties and have the opportunity to stay more than one night (usually). What we found difficult with it was finding places that could accommodate the size of our trailer close enough to where we wanted to go. For example, we wanted to go to Leavenworth, WA but had to camp in Everette (about an hour away). Having a smaller rig definitely opens up more options. Harvest Hosts is a good option if you plan to stay in a place for just one night. The catch is that you are expected to support the business where you are camped by purchasing something from their shop (fair enough), but in then you aren't actually saving that much. It's great for unique campsites and locations though since lots of them are found at breweries, wineries and farmsteads.

    Wow, what a beautiful garden you guy's have and so plentiful.
    I have pepper's, cucumbers, tomatoes, beans zucchini and raspberries in my garden this year.
    I agree it's not easy trying to find a van within a reasonable price range, but hang in there end of camping season you will start to see more and more coming up for sale and being patient will pay off.
    Once again great video and content. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the van shopping. Cheers

      Your garden sounds so productive as well! Our zucchini isn't doing so well this year, but we had a good yield from our raspberries considering it was their first season producing.

    Good Morning from Oyama ,I have friends that are kicking themselves for paying $200,000.00++++++ for the Mercedes Camper Van . Its prob great if you're in your 20s or 80 plus ? Don't need the room to move around and very flexible and your just doing overnight . I know if we went from our 21 ft Trailer to a Van now in our life it would cost a lot more as it could mean a divorce .

    I would stay away from any commercially built RV because they are all junk. Even luxury built motor coaches and yachts. And trying to get major brand RV warranty problems fixed is just another night mare. As far as staying within your budget you might have to buy a used van and build it out yourself as many people do. Find a good carpenter or cabinet shop to work with you and get what you want at an affordable cost.

    • @HomeARoam
      @HomeARoam  19 днів тому

      Thanks for the tip! Building our own is definitely an appealing option to be able to get exactly what we're looking for. Never thought of speaking to a cabinet maker. Thanks for letting us know there are potentially other ways we can get a build done. 🙏
