Absolutely brilliant video mate, there is a monster purple belt at my gym does this pass often and very well. You have given me some great things to work on. Thank you👍🇦🇺😊
Hi, Jon! Huge fan! I looked into your video library and couldn’t find anything on countering leg weave/leg pummeling or float passing. It will be great to see you counter it…
Estima lock defense that isn’t inverting or just being aware? I’ve got a bad neck so I don’t really do inverting. granbying to escape turtle is about as crazy I get. Thank you, and I love your content and style of teaching and wish you the best!
I rely on the second stage of inverting a little more than I should. Will be looking to address the grips earlier like you showed in this video. When I was studying to defend this grip, a really good match to study was this sequence in VH vs Max Gimenis Worlds 2021. ua-cam.com/video/ilL1TchxI1s/v-deo.html good stuff sensei.
Amazing content coach. I have a question myself, does double sleeve, cross collar sleeve or collar sleeve have attacks on partners having 2 knees on ground, right knee up left knee down or left knee up right knee down? Because many especially old schhol guys that i know, try to pass with both knees or one knee on ground.
I try to keep the leg elevated in air in first place to make it difficult for that to occur, if they do trap it then I try to sit up and slide back while stiff arming. I can make a video on it soon!
@@JonThomasBJJ Oh okay, I was asking because I play open guard sitting up, so I'll have one of my legs flat on the ground. Because of that, when my coach passes my guard, often times, he will step on my flat leg.

Love these guard retention videos. I need all the help I can get.
lol, I feel you so much)))
Thanks a lot for breaking it down in layers of defense. It makes it a lot easier to understand when it is the right time to do what.
No problem buddy! Having a good organization of how to defend each pass is critical.
another awesome video! thank you. I already use these as saving graces in every training session!
Thank you for these videos. Only a white belt but your directions are straightforward and easy to follow.
As a 5th stripe white belt (some call it a blue belt) Jon is the shit
Really appreciate it buddy!
I cant thank you enough for your videos!

Yeah the invert is great but for sure I want to get the fats grip break when I can. It’s so dangerous if they get going.
Red head Tornado !!

Yes. Many options.
@@tra1in1 Yes, I hope coach Jon can make a video of that, it would be of huge help.
Helpful video! What would you do if they step on your leg?
