@@changlee4129I believe you must wait 6 months between capital one cards. That may also only be the case if you’re denied when applying. Should be easy to look up on capitals website.
I've said it for years, but the Savor One is one of the most underrated cards around. There's so much value there, plus no foreign transaction fee and travel benefits too. It's rare to get all that in a no annual fee card. It gives the Chase Freedom Flex a good run for its money. Thanks Dan.
Same here. Used to get so much hate on these channels. They all wanted to act like they're approve capital one lol. AMEX approving them for "platinum" made them feel special. Then they look at paying the AF for the 3rd or 4th time and it hits them... Or they realize they have a ton of chase cards with the same bonus categories 🤣
I received the venture x in April. I just applied and was approved for the savor one. I had the Amex gold but I am cancelling the card now because the savor one does just about the same of what the Amex gold does. Oh yeah, and there’s no 250$ fee. I know you can use the credits and make it a 10$ fee but I find myself going out of my way to use the credits. I like things to be very simple so this duo will probably be the one I use for years to come.

I got my venture x with a 746 credit score after having my discover it card for 8 months then getting an Amex gold. After four months with my Amex I applied after using the preappoval tool. I also have a 6 figure income though. They want you to not have many credit cards to be profitable
I run the SavorOne and Citi Custom Cash and I’m loving it. I also have my old Quicksilver one card for a credit card utilization and spend under $10 a month on it. Very happy with everything I’ve learned in this short 4 day period of research on UA-cam.

The Venture X and Savor One are Capital One's saving graces in my opinion. They aren't my favorite lender, but they did it right with these cards. The ability to convert your cash back on your Savor One to miles on your Venture X really unlocks a lot of value from this duo considering how many categories the Savor One covers in addition to the 2x miscellaneous category on the VX. Great call on this one Daniel! p.s. I bet you had a good time in Austin... I hear some cool folks live there 👀
I’m with you on C1 not being my favorite lender but, they have been growing on me the last couple of years. Taking basically the same awards structure other lenders build into trifectas and putting into a duo by making your high-end travel card also your catch-all card was brilliant on their part. It’s simple, and a lot of people want simple. I also have a soft spot for them because they were my first card… a long time ago. In a decade far far away.
Yeah one thing that gets me is that you can have a flexible Travel or cash back system from Chase, AMEX with Schwab platinum and Citi all with at least 1cpp in cash back. Capital one not so much. I do love the idea of AMEX Platinum AMEX Gold and C1 Venture X as a trifecta. I feel like those 3 cards can really cover all of your bases as you go and travel.
Same here! I'm gonna apply again for the Venture X in a month or two because it's a great card - so is the SavorOne. Thanks as always for watching Manny!
@@Daniel_Braun you got denied? I also want to apply but lowkey worried I’ll also get denied, just got the Amex gold like 2 1/2 months ago, and for some reason my credit score went down a few points so I’m now sitting at 740-755. You think I should apply now? Or wait another month?

I love my Venture X and really itching to get that SavorOne! Such a straightforward setup that fits in (almost) anyone's wallet! With a great set of travel benefits for little to no cost AND a solid all-round earner, the two cards work so well together. The Uber perk on the SavorOne is such a major cherry on top too. Another perk that's kindof hidden is that the Priority Pass has no limit on the number of guests you can bring in too! As always, awesome review Daniel!
Even though my score was looming around 700, I needed a boost so I got the CO Quicksilver card and used it religiously and paid on time and sometimes early for a bout 6 months. Then I watched your video on the CO X card and I applied and was accepted in about 10 minutes. Already booked a trip, used my $300 travel credit and added my daughter . So excited to get the most out of this card….thanks to your excellent tutorial!!!!
Wow, this Capital One Duo setup is truly a hidden gem! It's amazing how effective it is, yet it doesn't get the recognition it deserves. Thanks for shedding light on this underrated combo!
I’m one month in with the Duo and can confirm this is perfect for anyone working abroad. Zero FT fees and 2-3x on everything you can pay with card. Also, Cash Back can only be transferred to Miles on the website, not in the app. That took a bit to figure out. So, to summarize: 💵💶💷💳🤑
How long did you wait before getting the second card in the duo? I just got the savor one and don't want to apply to soon to the venture x because I don't want to be denied.
I 100% agree. I wish they could add a 5% category to the quicksilver. Or even 2% back with a monthly limit. If they add priority pass and some sort of credit to the Venture it would still be kinda worth it. It seems pointless rn.
The Cap One Duo is definitely competing hard with the Chase & AMEX Trifecta as the 👑of Credit Card Setups with the ability to convert Savor One Cash Back into Venture X miles, and getting those fantastic point multipliers & travel benefits offsetting the fee. Great coverage in this one Daniel!
No hate, but I remember seeing vids of you talking about how you disliked the Venture X and Capital One and saying how people should use Chase instead. Glad to see you finally talking about the Venture X and this duo positively now.
Hi Daniel!! Love your videos❤ I got the Savor One back in March and my Venture X is being delivered today. Getting both in less than 6 months was a huge surprise to me. I wasn't planning to apply for the Venture X until next year, but I said what the heck...let me see if Im preapproved. Surprisingly I was and went for it....instant approval😁
I just upgraded my Capital One Platinum Card to a SavorOne and I can’t complain. I’m a student so I still won’t apply for the Venture X but I’m keeping an open mind for it in the future.
This is my current setup and I love it. I used to only have the Venture X. I knew I was leaving money on the table, but didn't want to run multiple credit cards as I knew I couldn't properly manage them. Being able to cover most categories with just 2 cards is much easier. I'm thinking about getting the custom cash, but I just got the Savor, so I want to wait a little longer until I get another hard inquiry on my credit report
ON your redemption example, I feel like one thing that isn't talked about enough is that there are often bonuses to transfer to BA or Virgin Atlantic so if you watch for those and transfer when you get a 30% bonus you would have only needed to transfer 17k miles instead of 22k which would have been over 5 cents per mile. I recently did this for business class from Barcelona to JFK through VA. Ticket was 48,500 miles so I transferred 38k. Even if you figure only $2500 for a cash price that is over 6.5 cents per mile.
Daniel, ive been binge watching your videos the last 2 months or so and its helped me so much! Ive already comitted to the chase trifecta, but this seems like a great next step. Awesome video, and common Daniel Braun W
FOR SURE this is an underrated combo. My wife and I love the Venture X but the only downside to be aware of is that the $300 travel credit has to be used through the Capital One travel portal. Great take on this as always Daniel!
Are you or your wife the primary user of both cards? Wondering if I have one and my spouse has the other but we're both authorized users could we utilize the benefit of transferring the cash back into miles.
Will you please make a video about downgrading cards? And which cards from each of the major credit card companies can be downgraded to which no annual fee cards? There is not a video with all of that info in one place anywhere on youtube.
Very interesting setup. I just got my venture x last month, and started to look really hard at my saphire reserve. With a savor or savor 1, I pretty much would replace all the benefits chase currently offers me. After 5+ years of the saphire reserve and that bump from 450 to 550 I'm starting to wonder if it's worth keeping.
I use it like I use my Sapphire Preferred and my Freedom - I use Sapphire for Dining and Freedom for the 5%, then I use Savor One for Groceries and Venture as a catch all for all non-targeted categories.
Great video! You should do a video on the new Wells Fargo autograph journey card paired with the regular ol autograph card as a kind of knock off dumbed down version of this pair. They’re very similar in terms of how they don’t overlap benefits much and offer similar benefits for each tier but with generally lower rewards for a cheaper annual fee. ($95 for the autograph journey card.)
I would think this duo was perfect if it wasn’t for the Capital One portal. That’s a deal breaker for me. Booking directly with the airline saved me thousands of dollars. You can get price adjustments any time and I rely on that.
I think the best duo no one talks about is the boa duo with the boa unlimited cash rewards card and the boa custom cash rewards card because of the incentive to invest and get a 75% rewards boost making the rewards 2.62% cash back on every purchase for the unlimited cash rewards card and your 3% choice category could increase to 3.75% - 5.25% cash back, and the 2% cash back at grocery stores and wholesale clubs could increase to 2.5% - 3.5%. for the first $2,500 in combined choice category/grocery store/wholesale club purchases each quarter. Your unlimited 1% cash back could increase to 1.25% - 1.75% on all other purchases. For the custom cash card
VERY underrated setup for cash back! I'm definitely making a video about that in the future as well because that truly is a setup that really no one talks about haha
I feel like something nobody talks about when it comes to Capital One is that their travel portal is powered by Hopper. Haven’t booked any flights since Covid, but hopper always seemed to have the cheapest bookings available back then so I’d be more inclined to “trust” the value of C1’s travel portal.
I still think the best plan for me is to open a Venture account, get the sub (same as VX sub) which is 7 years of af, use the TSA credit to make the first year free and switch to the Venture X in a couple years.
This is my current setup. I also use the venture X for gas. I know there are other cards that give more points/cash in return, but I’m trying to thin my wallet and I’m ok with two points on gas.
Love using the venture X. I dont really find the travel portal that frustrating like people say. I got to baseball games ever now and then using points I earn- as well as hotels for the weekend when I travel with my wife. I just got accepted for the savor one. Looking forward to the simplicity. Planning to use it for dining n groceries etc. hate to admit but I’ve learned a lot with capital one. I was considering Amex options but chose to keep it simple.
I have a middle score of 770 and got declined for venture X. Called customer service and since I had a credit freeze for security purposes, all I had to do was remove them and re-apply. Most cards you only need to unfreeze one bureau not all three. My first credit denial in years if not EVER lol. 😂 I will reapply soon. I closed my Amex platinum due to lounge overcrowding, the annoying airline credit that’s hard to use, the hotel credit that’s limited and the hefty $695 fee. The venture X is essentially a free card that pays you $5/year to have it.
Thanks Daniel!! Love your videos! Tons of info and you drop the strategy/logic behind it. Have been researching a ton of cards and sort of have been leaning towards these two cards as a stack, but this video pushed me over! Applying now to venture x lol
If you get mail all the time about pre approval for the quicksilver card. You could apply and get that card since you’re pre approved, then upgrade to venture x if they’ll let you or ask to switch to the savor one card. My guess is the savor one card is your best best to switch to from the quicksilver
Hi Daniel. I have the Venture X and Citi Custom Cash (and many others!), but not the Savor One. I like the simplicity of the setup, but I have many cards, and they have overlapping categories, so I think I need to pass on Savor for now. This might have been perfect earlier in the game. Hope all is well.
Love my Venture X! Savor one is next on the list for sure. Awesome 2 card set up. I’ve had a good experience with their travel portal, the price match feature is amazing. Only have used it once, but it was a easy, 10 minute phone call.
Ok I also got denied for the Savor One and couldn’t figure out as to why other than having opened others accounts earlier this year but I didn’t know CO was more rigid about their approvals. I always thought they’d be easy to get since my first ever card was their platinum. But I’m glad to see it happens to others too. I’m gonna just have to wait till the end of the year and apply for it again.
I have the Capital One Bass Pro with a small $3K limit. Was denied for a Savor One, as well as, several Bass limit increase requests. Current Fico 807, never late, balances always paid off. Have Amex Gold and Plat, CSR and FU. Scratching my head with this company--makes no sense, maybe Capital wants people who carry a fat balance monthly. Amex trifecta works best for me.
I am 20 years old, and my credit score is 750 but history is still new. I wanted to get Chase Trifecta and Capital One Duo, but I'm scared to apply because my history is still new. Should I wait another year or take the risk to start applying? I have a Captial Platinum card, Discover, Citi Double, and my local bank credit cards.
I just got approved a few days ago, but sadly a $500 starting limit for the Savor One. Its definitely like having the Amex Gold card in regards to points towards dining and groceries in a way.
I have both cards Venture X and Savor… I love them both. I guess I have a leg up because I was grandfathered into no annual fee for the Savor since I got it before they implemented a fee.
I keep trying the pre qualifying feature every so often, and usually, it says they dont have any cards to offer, but yesterday it said well done and let me proceed but i chickened out at the submit button. My score is 680, and i can't afford another hard inquiry considering my older ones are starting to drop off and my score is on the rise. I'll wait a while longer,i have enough credit at the moment.
So I’m brand new to credit cards. I just applied for a capital one venture one card due to the fact that I life pretty far away from my parents and would like to visit them often. I didn’t find this channel until after I was approved. Was this a good option?
I got the chase trifecta with the SP. I'm leaning heavily towards the CapitalOnebifecta since I already have the Savor one. I can't justify the AMEX Gold because I wouldn't use any of the monthly benefits. I never use Uber eats and am not starting just because of the card and the dining credit is the same thing. At least with the Venture x credit I know I will be putting it to work day one
I think this duo is more powerful the AMEX plat and gold card honestly and gives Chase a run for their customers. AMEX targets transportation and hotels. Where Captial One target lifestyles and this is good for someone doesn't travel a lot.
Hey Daniel, think you can make a video discussing the benefits of being an authorized user and being a primary cardholder? I've been watching different videos on the subject, but no other channel breaks down Credit Card info as good as you.
Love my Venture X got approved 1st time applying. However, keep getting denied for Savor One. I eventually found a some what loop hole to get the Savor One. I was allowed to product change an older Venture One to a Savor One.
@@Brandon-mc1ml Just have to call up Cap One and ask if you got an upgrade or product change offer. There is a way you can do it online also but it is confusing.
Not great if you get groceries at a discount grocery like Walmart or a warehouse club. The Sam’s Club credit 5% discount is a great alternative and gives you a gas discount.
The easiest 3 card setup with travel benefits is definitely the Capital One duo plus the Custom Cash for, like you said, gas. So easy and basically free!
Doesn’t the top spending category automatically change? Is there a way to keep it on gas for every month? Also, how are you combining the Citi rewards with C1 miles? Thanks!
@@jaymartinez8231 it changes based on what you spend the most in. To keep it as the same category, just spend the most in that category. The easiest way to do it is to only use the card for one thing (gas for me).
Deciding between this and Chase trifecta. Planning on transitioning to Amex eventually so I'm iffy about the Savor One since its rewards overlap with the Amex gold
Hey Daniel! I've been learning alot about credit card from your channel! I never really learned much before until now. I am 31years old and still using my student card from wells fargo when I was 16 years old. Looking to try out the Capital One duo Venture X and SavorOne. I have pretty good credit (been hovering between 750-780 for the last few years), and always paid my balance in full since I've had the card. I read that Captial One only lets you open 1 card per 6 months. If this is the case, which one should I open first? The SavorOne or the Venture X. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!
No one talks about the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card. I’m working toward the Capital One Duo but this Wyndham card completes the C1 trifecta. It gets 8X on gas and and 5X on things like utilities. $95 annual fee offset by 15k anniversary miles. Oh yeah, Wyndham is a transfer partner of Capital One. My favorite super power? Wyndham’s partnership with Vacasa at a fixed mileage redemption where I’ve gotten 5-6 cents per mile!
How long should i wait to product change my capital one union plus card to a capital one venture one? I just recently got approved for my capital one savor a week ago.
Hey, got a question! Can you get a Savor One, and accumulate the cash back rewards, and a year later get the Venture X and transfer all that cash back into Miles? Or do you need to have the Venture X before the SavorOne to be able to transfer the points?
I wish I could get even one of these cards, but capital one doesn’t seem to want to work with me. They honestly have been the worst card company for me so far, but would still love to get these two cards.
I have this exact same set up been using them for a while now great way of building up miles fast especially with that 10% Uber eats i usually just do pick up instead of delivery. Only problem is C1 is terrible at giving you a high credit limit especially on the S1. I've had it for over 3 years now and still stuck at 1k. I always pay in full, never miss a payment and constantly at the edge of maxing it out due to me travelling a lot for work and using perdiem to cover my food charges on the card.
I just got a letter from CapitalOne stating that they were going to reevaluate my SparkCards due to the fact that I have very limited spend on them compared to the credit lines. $10 a month with $10k limits. I have both the Visa and M/C SparkCards. They are 10 and 12 years old. Anyways, I was thinking of product changing to the $95 Venture Card but they won’t give me a bonus. I’m at 4/24 so I don’t want to cancel and get a new Venture Card. It looks like I’m going to put some spend on my SparkCard at 1.5%.

I recently did this for business class from Barcelona to JFK through VA. Ticket was 48,500 miles so I transferred 38k. Even if you figure only $2500 for a cash price that is over 6.5 cents per mile.
I got pre approved for the savor one and venture one . I already have the quicksilver and the platinum card

Literally I've been waiting on this video! This may replace my AMEX Gold
This is such a good setup and a very possible alternative to Amex! Thanks for watching Stan!
I use it like I use my Sapphire Preferred and my Freedom - I use Sapphire for Dining and Freedom for the 5%, then I use Savor One for Groceries and Venture as a catch all for all non-targeted categories.
Nice! Great strategy Lucinda!
I think the best duo no one talks about is the boa duo with the boa unlimited cash rewards card and the boa custom cash rewards card because of the incentive to invest and get a 75% rewards boost making the rewards 2.62% cash back on every purchase for the unlimited cash rewards card and your 3% choice category could increase to 3.75% - 5.25% cash back, and the 2% cash back at grocery stores and wholesale clubs could increase to 2.5% - 3.5%. for the first $2,500 in combined choice category/grocery
store/wholesale club purchases each quarter. Your unlimited 1% cash back could increase to 1.25% - 1.75% on all other purchases. For the custom cash card
VERY underrated setup for cash back! I'm definitely making a video about that in the future as well because that truly is a setup that really no one talks about haha
@@Daniel_Braun not to mention it’s probably the best no AF duo
Very good if you're into cash back. Personally I need my travel partners!
@@druiz012 TEAM CASH BACK FOR LIFE! The ONLY way I say points are better is if the points can be redeemed at one penny per point 🤷🏾♂️
Very well explained thank you !!! I just got the venture x and I’m so excited
Nice video Daniel! 😀
I have these two cards and the Bilt Mastercard. Perfect setup for my spending habits and I'm being given $5 to do it!
This is my current setup. I also use the venture X for gas. I know there are other cards that give more points/cash in return, but I’m trying to thin my wallet and I’m ok with two points on gas.
Love to hear that, and I get it! Always good to keep things simple and a thin wallet too - 2x is still decent for gas 👍
I live a minimalist lifestyle too so a two card setup really speaks to me.
I have both cards and they are amazing!!!
I feel like this duo covers everything but gas. Which is great. Correct me if I'm wrong?
Just got approved for savor 1. $3000 credit limit!
If you get mail all the time about pre approval for the quicksilver card. You could apply and get that card since you’re pre approved, then upgrade to venture x if they’ll let you or ask to switch to the savor one card. My guess is the savor one card is your best best to switch to from the quicksilver
These are the only two cards I use. Period.
They’re great cards! Such an underrated 2 card setup
Only have used it once, but it was a easy, 10 minute phone call.
do they price match to sites like expedia ? have the savor and debating on getting the venture x
Really informative! Thanks!😁
Awesome video man!
Can we do this with the Venture and Savor as the double?
Great content man! Very informative!
Have both these cards, totally agree!
Super helpful videos! I made sure to use the affiliate link to sign up for my Venture X card. *thumbs up*
I am 20 years old, and my credit score is 750 but history is still new.
Ouch! That's low
How to convert the savor one cashback to venture x miles?
I could not find it in the video
I got the chase trifecta with the SP. I'm leaning heavily towards the CapitalOnebifecta since I already have the Savor one. I can't justify the AMEX Gold because I wouldn't use any of the monthly benefits. I never use Uber eats and am not starting just because of the card and the dining credit is the same thing. At least with the Venture x credit I know I will be putting it to work day one
What’s the chase trifecta cards?
Hey Daniel, do you have a video where you cover getting all the benefits from SavorOne, Venture and Venture X?
I think this duo is more powerful the AMEX plat and gold card honestly and gives Chase a run for their customers. AMEX targets transportation and hotels. Where Captial One target lifestyles and this is good for someone doesn't travel a lot.
Hey Daniel, think you can make a video discussing the benefits of being an authorized user and being a primary cardholder? I've been watching different videos on the subject, but no other channel breaks down Credit Card info as good as you.
Any thoughts on Venture One and SavorOne setup? Are there still benefits to be had in transferring SavorOne rewards to the Venture One?
Did you ever get an answer on this? I have and venture as my first card..
Nice work
Love my Venture X got approved 1st time applying. However, keep getting denied for Savor One. I eventually found a some what loop hole to get the Savor One. I was allowed to product change an older Venture One to a Savor One.
How do I change a venture one to a savor one?
@@Brandon-mc1ml Just have to call up Cap One and ask if you got an upgrade or product change offer. There is a way you can do it online also but it is confusing.
I'm just rocking the Savor one and the Quicksilver card.
What's your score if you don't mind?
Would it be better (if it matters at all) to get the Venture X or Savor One first?
I got approved for the Venture Rewards card a few months ago. Wish I knew about the SavorOne card before finally deciding to go all in chase 🙃
Ugh! Capital One has been a nightmare in terms of approval of cards. Thank goodness i only need the two cards 😁
9:57 technically couldn’t you buy gas gift cards at your grocery store to get 3% back through your capital one cards?
I just got approved for the Savor One after getting failed for the Citi Custom cash
My question is, how do you know what the best credit card setup is best for you? Amex, Chase, Citi etc.
Right now I’m using Amex and Chase.
A miles redemption video on the capital one site will be helpful
Thanks!
So travel is by air not like if I buy gas or diesel ?
Would you sign up for the savor one or venture x first?
No one talks about the Wyndham Rewards Earner Business card. I’m working toward the Capital One Duo but this Wyndham card completes the C1 trifecta. It gets 8X on gas and and 5X on things like utilities. $95 annual fee offset by 15k anniversary miles. Oh yeah, Wyndham is a transfer partner of Capital One. My favorite super power? Wyndham’s partnership with Vacasa at a fixed mileage redemption where I’ve gotten 5-6 cents per mile!
Question for these travel credits: aren’t the prices in portals higher than outside of them, or is it really a great deal?
How long should i wait to product change my capital one union plus card to a capital one venture one? I just recently got approved for my capital one savor a week ago.
Hey, got a question! Can you get a Savor One, and accumulate the cash back rewards, and a year later get the Venture X and transfer all that cash back into Miles? Or do you need to have the Venture X before the SavorOne to be able to transfer the points?
I have both and don’t see why not. That should work.
Never really consider capital one for travel, I have the quicksilver, should I product change it to the savor one, then get venture x?
I wish I could get even one of these cards, but capital one doesn’t seem to want to work with me. They honestly have been the worst card company for me so far, but would still love to get these two cards.
Can you still transfer cash back to miles with the Savor One/Venture duo? Not the Venture x
Which one I should get first, savor one or vx
Hey Daniel, I was wondering your opinion on the Quicksilver card, and if it’s worth it for a good 0 Annual Fee.
The venture card I was pre approved for didn’t have a annual fee
I just got a letter from CapitalOne stating that they were going to reevaluate my SparkCards due to the fact that I have very limited spend on them compared to the credit lines. $10 a month with $10k limits. I have both the Visa and M/C SparkCards. They are 10 and 12 years old.
Anyways, I was thinking of product changing to the $95 Venture Card but they won’t give me a bonus. I’m at 4/24 so I don’t want to cancel and get a new Venture Card. It looks like I’m going to put some spend on my SparkCard at 1.5%.
Should I apply for the venture x first, then Savour 1? Or can I get both at the same time?
Do you have any suggestions what options that could get Global Entry included with a new travel card if you already have travel card?
Great video and detailed as always! Question, which software do you use to edit your videos? Just curious. Also, 6'7" here! 🙂
What do you think of the Alaska Airline Credit Card Daniel? thank you
