I have a question. I’ve been seeing ur channel for a while and I know it’s all about credit cards. But I wanted to ask if you know anything about credit unions? Could you make a video or something about the benefits or direct me to somewhere that they talk about it. I’ve googled It and I’m just getting mixed answers
@@MagnetoTeslaMY If you’re talking about the Sapphire series, it’s the same points system, so nothing should happen, but I don’t have experience with that
I believe, it's only the higher tiered credit cards like the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Ink Business Preferred that you'll have more perks and can move points to partner merchants like United Miles. But your number of points will stay the same.
The ability to get multiple bonuses on Chase's cards is one of the biggest pros to these cards that isn't appreciated enough I feel like. The 5/24 rule forces you to keep Chase cards in mind, but the positive side of it is that if you manage your 5/24 status correctly, you could be cycling through Chase card bonuses constantly which isn't something you can do with every lender (I'm looking at you Amex 👀). This was a really valuable video Daniel... great work once again!
Love your videos man, I’m 20 and i’m an accounting and finance major. I first got started with chase by watching your videos. Now I have the trifecta and im loving it. Great work with your videos!
Love to hear that man, I really appreciate you watching and supporting the channel! I'm obviously a huge Chase fan, so good to hear that you're enjoying these cards too! Thanks again for watching 👍
you literally just addressed every concern i had about getting a new promotion offer, downgrading, and 5/24 rule in one video. you just earned another subscriber !
Excellent video Dan. Just as I've cautioned before with downgrading a card, Chase "could" deny that if you're headed into year two with the annual fee card, and if approved, they could reduce your credit limit, which increases your utilization. Also, and as you've mentioned a number of times (and I've certainly taken advantage of it), become a Hyatt member as that's often the best point value for redemption, often >$0.03 / point.
I literally just got approved for that INSANE Marriott 5 free night offer as well from an email offer, so it’s still out there if you look for it! And as annoying as it is, paying attention to 5/24 pays off honestly. Loved the way you explained that Daniel.
Great video Daniel! Personally I have not made any of these Chase mistakes, but it’s mainly due to UA-camrs such as yourself and Reddit. I am working on my 80k bonus from my new CSP now!
Thanks Daniel! After that video you posted about the elevated 80k offer last month I did reach out to Chase about matching. Unfortunately they kept me at the 60k welcome offer but I was also only 2 weeks away from the end of my 90 day period, so that is most likely why.
You're a pro at this with your videos on credit cards and travel, so good to hear that you've managed to avoid a lot of these! Agreed though, Chase 5/24 has gotta go lol. Thanks Manny!
It’s not necessarily a rule but more of a tip, I remember applying to the CFU and got denied because I didn’t have enough credit history. So for those of you struggling to get your foot in the door into chase’s ecosystem, I suggest opening up a checking account to start building that relationship with them. Within 2-3 months you should have a good chance of being accepted. However things may get easier with the new chase freedom rise coming soon.
Just called Chase Card Services and requested the higher 80,000 point sign up bonus for my new Sapphire card. They increased with the stipulation that I meet the requirement of spending $2000 in 3 months to receive 20,000 additional points following completion of the $4000 in 3 months. It works! Thanks Daniel!
I didnt even know or ask but Chase matched the extra 5% back on groceries on 1st year on the Flex when I had applied a week prior to them rolling that offer out.
You’re in luck! I made a similar video for Amex a few weeks ago, so here it is: 10 Amex Mistakes That 90% of People Make ua-cam.com/video/GNp9CrbfwyI/v-deo.html
The mistake I was making with Chase was when I was booking flights I was doing it through the travel tab instead of doing it through ultimate rewards. So I was getting the general 2x points for travel instead of 5x for flights until I figured that out.
After watching a couple of credit card points videos, I am astounded at how many credit cards you guys carry!!! We have a six figure income. Well above six figures, not trying to brag I’m just giving you some context. We only have a chase sapphire preferred (I haven’t been able to convince my husband to upgrade to the reserve because he doesn’t think the added annual fee will benefit pay off) We both use the same account so we can accrue more points and pay everything we can with the card and pay the full balance at the end of the month. Even so I don’t think we have enough points to get ourselves first class seats, so how do you guys do it? We have gotten free flights before but always economy. I guess we are playing the game all wrong.
Hi, I’ve been enjoying your videos recently as I’ve been getting interest in managing my finances. I’m only a 21 year old college student so I got my first credit card 2 years ago(Discover student CC) and then a year ago got the Chase freedoms unlimited. Now I’m currently trying to find what my next CC should be, what would your recommend I get next ?
Hi, question on mistake #6 - what if you have a bunch of miles on the CSP and Freedom but are coming up on the 48 months? I didn’t know that I would be eligible to receive a bonus again! But what do I do to my current miles?
Good video on Chase cards. On the point to call chase to match an update signing bonus, this needs to be done within 30 days in conjunction of when you got your card and when the updated bonus went live.
I definitely wish I planned a little bit more around the Chase 5/24 rule because now I"m in a bit of a gardening phase waiting to come back down under 5/24 later in the year in order to capitalize on the Chase Ink Unlimited/Cash Offers, and then some other cards as well like the WOH Card. Great video here Daniel!
My wife signed up for the CSP for 60k; shortly after she got hers, they raised it to 80k. Based on feedback from Travel Freely, she asked for 80k and got it! 80k seems dead of now.
#8 - when you downgrade and get a new CSP card, will you have to re-link accounts with your fiance to transfer points? Or will it keep the link because its all under your same chase acct?
I just got the freedom unlimited 2 weeks ago and have reached the welcome bonus. I have another big purchase soon and want to take advantage of the freedom flex welcome bonus. How long should I wait? I have a great credit score so I should be accepted but I don’t want to apply too soon
I had one question about the Downgrading. If you already have the freedom flex and unlimited credit card and you want to downgrade a sapphire card, can you downgrade the sapphire card to either a flex or unlimited card even though you already have one of each of those cards?
Thanks about mentioning that you got Chase Marriott Bonvoy Boundless with 5 night bonus. I was about to apply for 3 nights. I see that the 5 nights is a targeted offer, I will check around for that offer.
Great video! I'm currently sitting at 4/24 (soon to be 3/24 as it has almost been 2 years since opening my CFU). My credit cards consist of CFU, CSP, Amex Gold, CVX. What Chase card do you recommend I look into for highest SUBs historically while I'm under 5/24?
I called chase and asked for the 80K offer. I had gotten approved 5 days prior with the 60K offer. The rep said I’d get the additional 20K within 2 billing cycles. 🤞🏾
Regarding rule #7, if I wanted to downgrade my freedom unlimited to a freedom flex and then reapply for the freedom unlimited, would I be able to get that signing bonus or does it only work with a sapphire card?
Is the World of Hyatt credit card the next card I should get after the Chase Trifecta? Is it worth it? Or maybe an airline card? From Seattle area, and just canceled my Alaska Airlines card. Didn't seem worth it anymore as a single person. Thanks for your vids.
Bro, I’m trying to learn I’ve been wasting so many points with my business. I don’t even know where to start.. credit score is 812 just started collecting cards, but I may have started to fast :-). I just had 8 hard inquiries in the past month lol not sure how that’s gonna affect my score hopefully it’s still stays well above 750 but I wanna keep going and I’m not sure how long I need to wait. Luckily I’m still at only three cards out of the 5/24 so I’m gonna hit up some more chase business cards. Before I round out my Chase personal cards.
If you're really trying to game the system and open, close, reapply, and product change a ton then they might flag you for that - but in general when someone is just opening cards at a normal pace and product changing after the right time periods have passed then they don't worry about that
Great content! Question with regard to the 5/24 rule, does that apply to credit cards in the last 24 months only or any new accounts such as car loans mixed in with credit card products? I worry the Chase algorithm will see a new car loan mixed with 4 new credit cards and auto decline because it can't differentiate.
Anyone know if you can get welcome bonuses if you apply for more than one of their cards? For instance could you get the Amazon Chase Card and get the $200 gift card and the Chase preferred which offer 60k points
I don’t believe so, as long as you have a card earning UR points then just call Chase and tell them you’d like to transfer to a household member that has the Sapphire Preferred. So only 1 of you should need to have that card
Recommendation...close the Chase Saphire card on the anniversary so you can enjoy the 10% yearly return. It would be a mistake to downgrade before this.
sadly I asked chase to match the offer on the preferred and they denied me. I was only a month from when I got card and they upped it. Chatted online. Maybe should have called too. :(
Daniel, there is a question I have not seen addressed anywhere, and I was hoping you would mention it but did not. You are about to downgrade your Sapphire card and will later apply for a new Sapphire card. During the period in which you have no Sapphire card, what happens to your Ultimate Rewards points? Do you transfer them out of your Sapphire card before the downgrade? Can they be consolidated to an non-Sapphire card while you have no Sapphire card? Is there any danger of losing points that you want to use for future transfer to airlines or hotels?
Francis is correct in that comment! If you already have another chase card that earns UR points then your points will be safe there. The only reason you would want to transfer or use the points before downgrading the CSP is if you don’t plan to get it again in the future. If you plan to reapply then you will still have those points with other UR point cards and then you’ll have access to redeem them better with the new CSP. This is assuming that Chase will still approve you again though obviously. Hope that helps!
#6 is not accurate. If you close the acct in good standing, it will not count against you. You might get a slight temporary ding by reducing your available credit. However, having too much unused credit will hurt your chances of being approved for a future card.
Hey Denny, that’s correct! That’s why I said that the account will not fall off until 7-10 years, depending on if it was in good standing or not. Like you said, the immediate impact is the drop in available credit which can affect utilization. My main takeaway with mistake number 6 is that most Chase credit cards with an annual fee have a no annual fee downgrade option. I think that is better than closing a card with an annual fee in 95% of cases for most people. Hopefully that makes more sense which what I meant there - but great point you made about closing a card!
Honestly skip chase cards or get the bonus points and use them and get rid of the card. There is a night and day difference between Amex and Chase reserve customer service.
