10-12 The two passages you referred to on the manifold were originally for the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) No Water. Small Block Chevy heads have water passages at each end and the manifold blocks two of the four that are cast into the heads making them interchangeable from side to side. Hugsssssssssssss you TWO !
It was so good to see a long upload and see Aaron working in the shop. Finley isn't in the way he's doing his job making sure Aaron takes a rest now and then. Enjoy Florida.
Aaron try using 3 M’s foam double sided tape for attaching things to the dashboard. They use it for attaching walls on semi trailers. I used it for attaching controls on wheelchairs! Kids were able to drive around without having the joystick fall off.
Emily get yourself a piece of 5/8 inch heater hose the link to the gearshift take the novel shut the heater hose down on there it looks better plus if you ever need a piece of 5/8 inch heater hose you’ll have it😂😂
Great to see Garfield get some TLC. Aaron did great with showing just about the perfect amount of tweaking and explaining what was going on. Also, some good precision free hand machining... Looking forward to seeing Garfield out for a drive.
That's a ton more work than it looks like, glad to see it running again. Newbern is 100% spot on, Hot Rodding is not an exact science but you'll remember that work around forever now.😎
Y'all are so cool!!!Garfield sounds great, and you both are so great in your video's. Keep it up, we love watching you both do great thing to your cars and trucks!! Thank you so much!!
Great to see Garfield getting back on the road. I had a C10 with a 350 and a four speed that served me well. That ole' truck just never quit. It was bare bones but he did everything I asked him to do....except drive in snow...it was not a winter truck. Glad to see you guys back at it and looking forward going along on the adventures. I do miss the old intro and outro...Emily does the best sultry to silly out there,😂 so cute! Stay well and stay tight. Blessing all.
Thank yall for showing all the gory details of "hot rodding". Things don't always go as planned as anyone who's been involved in this hobby for any length of time knows first hand. Love the fact that you work through all this with a smile on your face. It's much appreciated.
Love this episode. The hot rodding stuff is never simple with engine parts merry go rounds but it’s is SO rewarding when you finally solve the issues. Arron is looking so much better. A smile looks good on him 👍🏻 love the VGG T-shirt. ❤
One of your best episodes. Aaron is especially great with the explanations and describing progress. Framing the journey you’re on is super helpful. I learned some things and smiled a lot I really appreciate how hard you’re working…. You’re new editor is doing a great job too
So glad you guys are back! Love the content! Just one thing? A c-20 is a 3/4 ton and the c-30 is the one ton. Hope to see you on the road someday! Keep up the great work 👍
Vortec heads only have 8 vertical bolts. The center bolts don't exist. TBI / swirl port and later TPI heads have the different angle center bolts to clear the Intake for install/removal. But if the Intake bolts all go in at the same angle they are old school sbc heads. You can usually check SBC head casting numbers by pulling the oil cap and shine a light in there.
Glad to see you guys back healthy and enjoying life, projects will be there but sometimes you got to take time for yourselves, can't wait for this new "Spark" of energy from y'all, peace and good luck!
So glad you're 😊 back. I didn't realize it's been 3 years since Garfields been on the road. Seems like yesterday when you put him together. Glad Aaron's health is coming back. Like you guys and I will follow you more better and closely from here on out.
Love that Vice Grip Garage Shirt young man! Some of my favorite videos are of VGG and Flying sparks! Love the this video and the way you fellers and Fel-etts support each other.
So good to meet you both at sick week yesterday! Garfield looks yellow on my phone and now I get it seeing him there ! Love the new intro and getting some solo time in the shop with Aaron . Happy you are well and moving up !
Good job, Aaron. Those cuts came out nice. Glad to see Garfield on the road. She's a beaut! Had to finish watching this one before I could see your latest :)
I remembered when you got Garfield . He came from Iowa. That was the first time time I watched you guys. I have been a subscriber ever since. Great video!
I have noticed some changes in the channel. The main one is you guys are more chill. And I like it. Most home shop mechanics don't like rushing around doing jobs to some artificial deadline. We enjoy the activity and art of wrenching. And so do you. I like it. You guys are smooth. Getting an engine started after it has been non running for awhile is sometimes a battle. But if everything is right it must run. There are just lots of things to get right.
I recall timing problems before electronic ignition, there were also point and dwell settings then add to the mix duel point distributors. Thanks, glad your back and well. 👍✌
I had a 71 C10 camper special back in the mid 80s. I wish I had that truck now. Just to get a rusted out junker now is insane how expensive they are! I enjoy watching you guys work in all of yours though!
Love your new, fresh intro to your video! Keep on keepin' on, and doing great work! Glad to see you guys going forward now with a positive outlook on all things life & career-related! Very cool!
Persistence ! A long diagnostic, but you nailed it ! Congrats... and kudos at the end of the video for the best dressed mechanic award... never noticed you wearing a dress in the shop... probably not that practical, but what a treat! Again congrats !!
Y'all didn't let 12-volt Dave touch it, didja? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I am SO happy to see Y'all back in the shop, and lookin better than ever!!! Lots of prayers comin your way, to keep God's blessings on ya!! ~Donny Olson~
So glad to see y'all back to working on stuff!! And to see Aaron helping you & you helping him with the things he's having difficulty doing!! Such a supportive couple!! Love y'all!!
there is a gen 1 and gen 2 sbc. gen1 has perimeter valve cover bolt and gen2 has the center valve cover bolts. the gen1 heads take a gen 1 intake(bolt holes match) gen2(vortex) takes the gen2(vortex) intake. gen1 block has 2 pcs main seal, gen2- 1pcs.
Awesome Aaron. It's a joy when problems are solved and the engine fires up properly. I know you two have had serious trouble recently but maybe the change of pace in the shop is a silver lining. It's good to see you back in the shop working things out. I'm a subscriber only but I would bet that you won't be losing views, subscribers or patrons. Hang in there.
I’ve got a 72 Chevy C-20 Deluxe that was our dads until we got old enough to drive and he had got a new truck. My twin brother and I always got parts for it that were brand new we would both get a left or right piece since I’m a twin. I was injured in the line of duty and am a medically retired law enforcement officer in Arkansas, been here all my life, and he said to both my twin brother and I that he was going to help us restore it when it cooled down, we only had a month left till it got cooler outside, (you know how this Arkansas heat is). He ended up being killed in 2014 a month short of us building it together as a father and his two sons. We’ve still got all the parts to completely restore it. All still new in the box. We’d built it for street/strip back when we were in high school, and I’ve always had my ASE MASTER TECH certification and always worked on new and old things that had any form of engine, and I’m currently trying to drag my twin brother off a car we bought and built to drag race, he thinks the Camaro is cooler, and I love all the extras this truck came with on the Deluxe package and add ons listed on the RPO in the glove box. I finally dragged it up to the house close to the shop so I can start working on it. My welder and all my other tools are there, it’s just not the same without dad; or even my brother helping. I’ve so far taken the bed off, and gives me access to all the suspension parts I need to replace and makes it easier to work on the cab also. Love your videos. Wish you were a little closer and I’d come see Garfield. I’m in Arkansas but from the videos I’ve captured you were from another state. I need me some sponsors like you. Shoot I could use some good tools😂 keep up the good work, can’t wait to see more of Garfield
Awesome job ,I’m so glad y’all are getting your stride and grove back. Great video and the shop and lifts are looking good. Y’all just keep it in drive!
Glad to see ya back! The manifold problem is not water it's egr system, the heads you have are non egr. you need a different manifold. on your clutch, your line connection is most likely problem.
Spoiled pup! I love it. I have 3 Labrador Retrievers that think they are lap dogs. 80 pound dog on your lap and you can barely get up! Fun stuff though, keep up the great work! Safe travels my friends!
Wow! You two have an opening voiceover intro now! That’s the big time, right there. But beware: that Finley was in danger of stealing your spotlight. That little dog is insanely cute, and I’ve loved watching him help you folks out in the garage. It’s so beautiful just SEE you two (…well, three) smiling and having fun in your garage. The world is a better place with you folks in it. May Our Lord continue to bless and keep you. Aloha from all your friends out here in the 50th state. ❤
That sad thing is that I saw yalls truck parked Tuesday night... knew I'd seen it somewhere but drew a complete blank on where and why... then i get home in the morning and see this. Glad you guys made the event. Hope your trip goes smoothly.

The easy way to set up timing is as follows: rotate the crankshaft until the rotor button points to the first cylinder on the compression stroke. Then wind it back about 10° before top dead centre, mark is on edge of harmonic balancer. Then loosen the distributor, and with th key on, move the distributor slowly until the points spark... key off, then tighten distributor. Your car is set to idle give or take a few degrees....
Emily, you're going to need a few more cheeseburgers and fries before you can push Garfield around like that! LoL Great video, y'all keep doing that which you do.
Awesome you are back healthy , physically and mentally . The world needs more people like you . Please keep inspiring more young folks .
So glad Arron is getting better. You two have been missed.
Not that its a big deal but C20 is 3/4 ton. C30 is 1 ton. Love the channel.
Thankee Mr Morrow for beating me to that. Only because I have you surrounded with my ‘68 1/2 and a ‘70 1ton. Love y’all. Keep it up. 👍🏻🐢
I screwed that up! Aaron corrected me after it was too late 🥹😂 Oh well, I never claimed to be perfect 🤪 Thanks for loving me anyway! 🥰
@@flyingsparksgarage Hey, if that’s the worst you do today it’s a great day. That’s how I roll. 😘
I thought the same thing
It was so good to see a long upload and see Aaron working in the shop. Finley isn't in the way he's doing his job making sure Aaron takes a rest now and then. Enjoy Florida.
Good to see the two of you back in the shop and on UA-cam
It's always nice when you can phone a friend!
Aaron try using 3 M’s foam double sided tape for attaching things to the dashboard. They use it for attaching walls on semi trailers. I used it for attaching controls on wheelchairs! Kids were able to drive around without having the joystick fall off.
Not many ladies go from taking a transmission out one day to a modeling job the next day. Very impressive! Love y'alls channel.
Emily get yourself a piece of 5/8 inch heater hose the link to the gearshift take the novel shut the heater hose down on there it looks better plus if you ever need a piece of 5/8 inch heater hose you’ll have it😂😂

Love that truck. Hope sick week is amazing for you two.
THIS is excellent. Back to your roots. It's the kind of video that got me watching in the first place. You're back. Well done.
Great to see Garfield getting back on the road. I had a C10 with a 350 and a four speed that served me well. That ole' truck just never quit. I'm amazed at the knowledge Aaron and you have isolating trouble areas. My favorite You tube channel! Praying Aaron's shoulder is getting better.
One of your best episodes. Aaron is especially great with the explanations and describing progress. Framing the journey you’re on is super helpful. I learned some things and smiled a lot

Great work folks...Nice to see Garfield back...Thanks for the post...
I love seeing you guys in the shop. We have missed you and are so very glad you are healthy again. Those lifts are monsters.

Glad to see ya back! The manifold problem is not water it's egr system, the heads you have are non egr. you need a different manifold. on your clutch, your line connection is most likely problem.
I remember you getting Garfield. How Can I possibly have been following you for that long.very enjoyable time.
I am working on my 1970 c20 with the 396/402 but th400 automatic. Thanks for some mid winter inspiration!
I love the mechanic's chair. I'm still taking my life in my hands using my harbor freight chair.
What a long way from AaRon laying in the back seat of the Nova to on the creeper under Garfield! You Go!
Wow! You're super strong, pushing Garfield around like that by yourself. 😛
Love the intro..patience is so much more than a virtue when working on cars “sometimes “
so nice having these videos come out so frequent
Spoiled pup! I love it. I have 3 Labrador Retrievers that think they are lap dogs. 80 pound dog on your lap and you can barely get up! Fun stuff though, keep up the great work! Safe travels my friends!
Wow! You two have an opening voiceover intro now! That’s the big time, right there. But beware: that Finley was in danger of stealing your spotlight. That sad thing is that I saw yalls truck parked Tuesday night... knew I'd seen it somewhere but drew a complete blank on where and why... then i get home in the morning and see this. Glad you guys made the event. Hope your trip goes smoothly.
I would pull a valve cover and see exactly what head you have. They arent Vortec heads and unless it’s a really early ZZ engine it should have had aluminum L98 heads. Also those little ports in the intake are EGR passages so it would be exhaust and not coolant there.

sooo many great moments in this video!
Finley rocks and love the fake out until he hears anything referring to food. sooo much like ours. Truly made me smile.
Big fire - cool - crank it again. The look was PERFECT!
and using the toolbox from Garfield to work on .. Garfield. Classic.
Finally, yes, Mexican food is always the answer even if you don't know the question.
Actually C20 is a 3/4 ton. C30 is a one ton.
In any event, that ZZ3 is a beast. Color me jealous. I'd love to have that as a shop truck!
@10:10 "That hurt".
So cute. I hope it's not too serious.
Love you guys! 👍
Yeah!!! Got the lift up! Fun times now!!!
So good to see Arron doin better. Y’all are such a cool and awesome couple

Love this!! Good to hear that truck running!
Emily, you're going to need a few more cheeseburgers and fries before you can push Garfield around like that! LoL Great video, y'all keep doing that which you do.
Love the headrest! And to think I'm 55 years old and always used a coolant jug. Has anyone ever tried a coolant jug? There's two positions lol.
Yep glad to see ya
And that 280z
Memories on mine long gone.
On the intake, new style heads, old style intake. Bolt holes are on a different angle. (Glad you're back! )
Ops, I commented to soon!
