Thank you Jay! I love all your enlightening and encouraging contributions to us all! I’ve never shared this before, but, I’m curious to know how simple lifestyle changes, exercise and healthy food intake, has any relevance to those who suffer from chronic pain, TBI, cognitive impairment, migraine, aphasia, and basic inability to adopt any of these lifestyle changes can ever benefit from them?
I understand a healthy person not being sedentary, but if you suffered a horrible head injustice, spinal injury from an accident, how do any of these suggestions help, like walking after a meal, even just walking, and walking outside (very challenging for those with PTSD from a horrible accident?
I think so much about my Mom who suffered a horrible head injury when a construction board fell on her head one day on her way to pick up my little brother from school? This changed her forever, a degenerative neurological disease is as as close and far from an official diagnosis I’ve ever heard from a doctor. Her injury happened over 30 years ago, and yes everything about her condition(s) is chronic as is her older age (which seems to be another “condition” doctors love to use as an excuse, not a diagnosis.
Where and how can those who are not in perfect health due to an injury, or accident, sudden disease that was totally out of any one’s control? I have so much compassion for those who are in chronic pain, suffering, faculties diminishing and every day activities of life are a challenge. How can we make their lives better, how do we get to address their cellular dysfunction? I’ve always believed that something was very wrong on a cellular and metabolic level, every doctor over the decades has never understood, nor was willing to understand a more internal knowing, failure to metabolize energy above the very lowest level of survival.
Thanks for listening. I feel that there is not enough or any attention paid to those who are already sick, compromised and can not make any “simple lifestyle changes”, especially not on their own. They are simply trying to get through the day full of pain and suffering and it’s utterly debilitating. They can’t meditate, or create vision boards, or even enjoy food, meals because sitting is too difficult.
I think there needs to be more empathy, attention paid to those who can’t easily adopt simple lifestyle changes. How can they also benefit from these incredible wellness discoveries, and suggestions for a a positive change, and life?
Thank you kindly for all your love, wisdom, and positivity you so generously, seamlessly share.
      Caroline

My wife, medical doctor and dermatologist for over 20+ years says this, "Doctors DON'T know about health, they KNOW about disease", a profound statement! We assume that receiving lab results within acceptable ranges we are to be considered "healthy", but nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, the physician just does not have anything to prescribe, which we comprehend as being in a good state of health. This interview resisinates a lot. Our country has become addicted to high caloric, non-nutrient, processed fast food, pills that mask the systems, never addressing the actual underlying issue. We choose the easy way out, nobody wants to hear that we have a choice to change what / how we eat and rather continue the lifestyle that is simply killing us. Change doesn't happen overnight, but awareness can lead to a step towards a healthier tomorrow.

They just have no idea what the side effects are to their gut and Microbiome and they don’t realize they’re gonna have to take these injectable medication’s for the rest of their lives! As soon as they go off these drugs, their gut will be permanently disrupted and the weight will return. Do not be seduced by these drugs!

In 2015 I received a diagnosis that I had 1-2 years to live without heart surgery. As I had no symptoms whatsoever, I declined the surgical option and lived an active life until 2021 when I underwent a TAVAR procedure to implant an aortic valve via catherization. The procedure was a success, but I developed a fatal bacterial infection originating at the implant site and spreading thru my entire heart. Antibiotics did not help, and I was released to a facility providing hospice support. The diagnosis was 6-8 weeks to live. All medications and supplements were removed to facilitate my passing. While on morphine, I awoke one day feeling just fine! Tests revealed no evidence of infection and I am once again living an active life ... Very much aware that there's more to human existence than just a body.

I Googled TVAR, as had no clue. My only question - what happens to the diseased valve that the artificial one replaces?
EDIT: nevermind about answer this question about the diseased valve, and what happens to it.
After reading about this procedure further, I am thinking that the aortic valve is not removed, but rather is reinforced by the 'balloon' that is guided into the aortic valve & then inflated to open up the valve. - I think?

      @scl384
You may have misread the comment. (?)
      It's believable to me.
The OP went thru a TAVR procedure (Transcatheter
      Aortic Valve Replacement.)
It's not 'open heart' surgery, but a minimally invasive procedure to reinforce the heart's aortic valve. (Probably narrowed by stenosis, which results in constricted blood flow. )
So, they actually did have surgery, and were not just treated with meds.
The surgeon inserts the 'replacement valve' by way of the groin's femoral artery. The femoral
artery connects to the heart's aortic valve.
The surgeon guides the replacement valve (which - I'm not sure, but I think it's a non-biological 'balloon' that's guided up through the femoral artery and into the aortic valve to reinforce it.)
Once the balloon is in place, it is inflated so as to open up the (probably clogged) aortic valve, so that blood can flow freely from the heart and throughout the body.
      Genius, huh?😃
So anyhow, it seems to me that a nasty bacteria entered thru the groin incision during surgery, or possibly the balloon itself was contaminated.

Greetings🍓🍒🥑🥦 just eating a bit less sugary and fastfood, and incorporate more fresh food, 🥝🫑🍎is a great way to start. And observe How we feel. Doctors can check our blood if we eat a balanced diet. Fresh air always give me a boost of energy! I am a vegetarian for almost three years, and the Doctors, after making a test, told me, I have great cholesterol levels and bloodresults was also good. Of course, as I dont eat meat , fish or eggs, I regularily take D and B12 vitamins. Not saying that all should be veggie, But to eat more fresh(!) foods!
To have good friends to talk to when its tough is a big deal too! To be sometimes completely honest with myself, helps me to know what to do, to keep living healthy.

In line with everything being said here I think Dr. Furman's "Eat to Live" is the absolute best effort I have ever seen in how to eat a whole food diet. Basically, eat about a 5-10% calorie restriction per day and eat whole. His lectures are fantastic. It's pretty simple but can be difficult for many people but those that have spent the time and effort to get it are greatly rewarded.

Yes, our bodies have a way of communicating with us, don't they? Sometimes, when we feel fear or discomfort, it's like our body's way of signaling that something important is happening. It's like a reminder to pay attention and listen to what our body is trying to tell us. Our physical sensations can give us valuable insights into our emotions and help guide us through challenging situations. It's all about tuning in and understanding the messages our bodies are sending us.

I’ve healed from cancer, and what shocked me more than going through the journey of treatments etc, was the whole process and “systems” of treatment. It is SO robotic, no “thinking” involved by the oncologists, nurses, etc. They just follow the “book” and see what happens to you.
The nutritionist that was assigned to me, gave me a list of foods to eat and avoid for the diarrhea that I will experience during radiation, and I looked at the list and couldn’t believe it. They were things like Ensure, jello cups, white bread… I was shocked but not really.
I told her about the ingredients in those items and that they were filled with sugars and artificial chemicals which will not help me with the cancer. She didn’t know how to reply and just said, “well this is the protocol we are given for patients, you don’t have to follow it if you don’t want to”…
    Like WTF.

I'm glad you healed despite the process. Makes one wonder what they go to med. school for if everything is just "paint by the numbers" and without questioning anything. I've also been appalled by the lack of curiosity.

Very informative discussion, She is telling the truth! Trust yourself!
You have to be your own advocate. They only care how many prescriptions
they right and like she said how many surgery they perform.

I Love her. She speaks with such authority and intelligence. I am on board with her theory 100%. I have been making my own decisions on my health for a while. I get the annual tests and work from that information. She has encouraged me to continue going within for answers. Thank you for bringing her on.

Wow ! What Yoga teaches us too ..a yogi does all asanas pranayam , pratyahara to eventually be ready to realise oneself in source.
Dr. Casey is amazing .. she talks fearlessly about the fear mongering and brainwashing done by money hungry pharma industry. And not only the problems , she talks about the solutions.
This talk is so so informative. ❤ Jay keeps himself out of the way too and that allows her to really shine.

Brilliant conversation! Amazing to see her calling out big pharma and their need for people to be repeat customers. We are all individually responsible for our health. Health does not come in a pill or a jab.

As a chiropractor of over 31 years, I have to say that Dr. Means is spot on with why we are so sick and what it takes to get and stay healthy. Chiropractic has unfortunately been marginalized over decades due to Big Medicine's attempt to place our HOLISTIC health profession into their REDUCTIONISTIC model of managing symptoms. Unfortunately many chiropractors in the 1970's (due to health insurance acceptance and inclusion) chose the path of least resistance (out of convenience and lack of certainty) and have bought into the sickness care pain-only model of practice just to "fit in" to society's expectations of the dogmatic definition of what a doctor is and does.
One of my favorite chiropractic quotes...."Medicine is the study of disease and what causes a man to die. Chiropractic is the study of health and what causes a man to live."

I agree. Symptoms are the body’s way 33:53 talking to us. I listen but I can’t always follow its instructions. I get headaches and lightheaded when I’m tired. I take ibuprofen because I have to work. I have taken days off to rest like today. I have trouble staying asleep but life goes on.

Very good episode on promotion health! TY dr. Casey!
In my opinion, it all comes down to the food choices. I tried being vegan, vegetarian, eliminated red meat for 5 years. I was constantly accumulating health issues. When I got to keto, the first time in my life I understood that it is possible to live without eating so much carbs. I’m carnivore now, for almost a year. This is the first time in my 57 years I finally see some health issues go away. I’m proving the doctor right with my experience. Everything she said in the interview I see happening in my life and more.
    Just few observations.
I went from being constantly hungry to eating 2-3 times a day.
I’ve been lifting heavy things in my garage every morning for the last 3 years, but only on carnivore I added some muscles.
Everyone I tell about carnivore, 90% can’t even grasp the concept.
    Be healthy everyone!

All the comments contribute so much on Casey's brilliant talk points so let me add that Jay, I love the studio. It aids in having calm conversations as for me this brings me back to when people would sit in studies like this having a brandy, sigar or pipe and discuss topics of various levels of importance.
