My husband just passed away and I'm going through the exact same situation. My husband took care of everything concerning the house: surveillance cameras, cell phones, smart TV, pool and vehicle maintenance...I'm at a complete loss. I'm having to learn everything from scratch, and what I can't learn I have to pay people to do them for me. I am alone in my state and have to do everything myself to pack and get my house ready to sell and move to another state where my only child and her family live. With two dogs and two vehicles. So many things to go through and sell, including two trailers and a race car. I miss him so much.
Jesus, I am so sorry for your loss. My husband takes care of ours as well and has for 28 years. I can't imagine what this has been like for you. I pray you are able to find some strength to help you find peace right now as you grieve your loss. ❤❤
I am so, so sorry for your loss. I worked at a cell phone store for three years, and the story told in this film happened four separate times. It never got easier, and I know each and every person I worked with hurt as much as you are now. I know it must be incredibly difficult to not only be going through this, but also to be so open about it and sharing it with us. It means the world to me that you were able to do so, and while things may be difficult now, I hope the best for you and your family as you start a new chapter with your child and her family.
Great job buddy, now I'm eating dinner with tears falling into my plate. Really though - this is a 100% work of art. A little kindness goes a long way...SMILE!!!
I worked in a library for many years. It was encounters like these that made it all worth it. Books were only the backdrop on the drama. Providing accurate information was only the pretext. I remember so many people ("patrons", we called them) like James and how, while remaining professional, I was able to break all the rules and be a human being with feelings and compassion and sympathy. This film brought me to tears.
Really good story. I half expected the older gentleman to be up to something. But in the end, it turns out he was just trying to close a chapter and move. Very touching short film.
Damn you 😥 This really struck home with me on a personal note. I lost my wife 3yrs ago and have had a real hard time deciding to turn her phone off, for the same reason, her voice. Exact same phone too. Coincidence i came across your movie? I dont know. But i must say, it was very powerful. Great job to all. And as Siskel and Ebert would say 👍👍
What a powerful movie! Widowers like myself know EXACTLY what James is struggling with…his efforts in coming to the reality that Lydia is not returning to him, yet knowing he loves her more than he’s ever had. He has many empty days ahead of him, and it stirs up the bitter loneliness in all of us who have already gone through this. Truly a magnificent film! 😥
I knew where the story was going from the start when James sat in his car. You all caught the nuances of grief. It is recognizable and heart breaking. The actors are wonderful. My husband was killed along with many others. Most institutions i had to deal with were actually prepared that a customer may report a loss from the event, and need help navigating financial accounts, statements, name changes. Most, but not all. I remember finally yelling at one arrogantly rude brusque young man. He talked to me like i was a fraud. I told him feel free to look us up, I called from a listed number landline inside our listed home address. I ended up crying and hanging up. I called again the next day because it had to be done. But most were compassionate and professional.
I love the small details they added. The ringer his wife had saved for him was from an old rotary phone. Such a small detail opens volumes of meaning and gives sweet insight in the loving relationship they had.
I saw this first when it was screened at a film festival and it had damn near the whole place in tears by the end. Beautiful story. We absolutely loved it.
Compassion, listening, and empathy is a great skill to have. Beautifully Acted by all. You could see the pain in James's eyes, losing a loved one, and Derek had compassion for James"s story. Derek had compassion and empathy. It"s beautiful
@@ghggp1 I'll second that. A refreshing, beautiful, and compassionate story. No superheros, mega effects, bombastic music. Its a simple moment of incredible humanity.
My mom passed last year and I still have one voice message from her. I don't want to lose it. I wish I had more. I wish I had so much more. I just added this film to my list of favorite short films. VERY WELL DONE.
I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom, I hope you’ve been doing the best you can in such a difficult time this past year. I still have a voicemail from Izzy that I can’t let go of either, he’s mentioned at the end of the credits. Thank you so much for the kind words about this film, saying it’s a favorite of yours means a lot to me and everyone involved that made this.
What a beautiful glimpse into the best of customer service. And I mean that as a person who has worked over 10yrs in customer service. It was such encounters as this that made it so worthwhile. Even though the unfavorable guest interactions far outnumbered the meaningful ones - just that one time knowing you learned something, witnessed something, or in some small way contributed something that represents the true meaning of life love or humanity - those moments have stayed with me for decades. Derek here wont forget this encounter for a very long time. Thank you also for showing how much a little bit of effort, care or sacrifice on your part can go towards getting another person through some very bad times.
Thank you so much for perfectly summarizing so much of what I’ve been hoping to capture with this film when I wrote it years ago. Yes, there are certainly other themes such as loss, grief, and finding connections between generations, but you really did a perfect job pointing out that while there are unfavorable guest interactions, there are some that really do stick with you for the rest of your life. Thank you again for the kind words and for watching this film ❤
What a superbly sensitive and compassionate film. I am also speechless. After recently loosing my brother I understand what those voicemail messages mean. Thank you for focusing on a subject all to familiar to some of us. It was the most impactful 15 minutes of my day. BRAVO to you and your cast and all involved in the creation this film.❤️💔❤️
Thank you so much for these kind words and sharing your own personal loss, I’m so sorry to hear about your brother, but it means the world to me that this film resonated with you. It’s comments like yours that motivate myself and the team to continue making films, so thank you ❤️
Nice job David Fritzson! You made this old guy get a bit teary-eyed. Solid writing, directing, and acting, with nothing over the top. Thanks for sharing it with us!
I work for a government agency in Australia, health services, so many sad situations and so many sad people. I'm proud to say we try to help them. Usually we succeed. Technological naivety is a big problem. What seems easy online isn't easy for many people young and old. Face-to-face works.
Thank you for sharing your perspective all the way from Australia! Amazing seeing how far this film goes to different audiences around the world, but I agree, technology is definitely something that makes things more difficult for many, I experienced it quite a lot when I was essentially Derek working at a cell phone store myself before getting into filmmaking.
Excellently done, I love how everyday-like this feels. No grandstanding between Derek and his boss, no Hollywood-like escalations. Just two people connecting and moving on.
Tender, beautiful and superbly acted. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by these two good people and the brief but meaningful time they spend together.
this was so good. it reminded me of selling cellphones, and the small moments, getting to make these sort of beautiful isolated connections with people I normally never would have made being a teenager. getting to help someone save their old photos is such a rewarding experience
I still have a recording from when my daughter was about 6 months old.. She was playing in her crib making a lot of cute little noises.. My daughter is 28 now.. I still love to hear that recording..
Great short story... I'm a combat Vietnam Veteran who has also been an artist all my life... every VN Vet I've exhibited with and have been friends with have died... most from Cancer (Agent Orange/Dioxin Poisoning related health issues) ... I live alone, as the wife passed years ago and I've been dealing with several related health issues... that little 100% disability payment does little and means even less. I would rather have my friends to talk about our art or our personal experiences in combat, something I can't with people who have no real concept of 330 days in the jungle fighting to survive .... to date the US VA has posted over 300,000 American solders have died after returning do to their exposure to Dioxin... and no one cares. We were patriots like our fathers and uncles before us... only to die alone.
I’m really sorry to read this , Ken. The politicians have a lot to answer for - the wars and lots more-and justice may not be done in my lifetime. I hope you have a naturopathic doctor to help you with the damage.

A short that i will remember for a really long time. You used your experience to create something so beautiful and touching. You are a very romantic and sensitive person and so are those who were touched by this short. It's a drop of rain on my lips, when i looked up at the sky expecting nothing in particular.
It means a lot to me that you'll remember this short for a very long time. It's been a long process between producing it, screening it around the country, and now publicly releasing it on UA-cam. I especially love your last sentence describing it, I'll remember that one for a long time as well. Thank you.
I’m so glad to hear it came across your feed as well! For years it’s been my great hope that as many people as possible would see this film, and your comment means so much to me and the production!

One year on and I watched this film again. Wow! It really packs an emotional punch. Yes, I've lost so many friends and family. It hits hard. + Rich + _____ ✝️ _____
Beautiful, stunning, true acting bettertan most feature films, their connection, everything. I'm absolutely wrecked, but in a deeply emotional, personal way, reliving my patents' losses. When my dad then mom passed, I'd saved their last messages to me, for my son as well as myself. I lost thst blackberry in a moving truck accident situation. Many times since lost Mom in 2009 i desperately wish I still had it😢
If you want to make an independent film, if you want to be an actor, watch this film. This is how you do it. Everyone in the film gave. That is what you do. You don't make a film so people see you made a film and you don't act on screen so people can see you. It's about the story, the art, giving to the audience and all working together. Wonderful. Thank you ♥
I saw this comment only hours after finishing a short film I wrote and produced with a first time Director, and both of us were tearing up reading this. Thank you so much for watching and especially for these kind words. What you wrote is exactly why we do this.
This has to be the best story I've been told in many many years. Sometimes I wonder how it would be when my mother dies... I'll have to go through this. Even every relationship I've been in felt like this. A devastating situation, that still shows you that you can use the pieces to keep building your road ahead. It's weird, I cried.
I know it’s been a few months since you wrote this, but wanted to drop in and say thank you so much for sharing these words and thoughts about ‘Wireless’. It means a lot to me that this story meant so much to you, thank you again and also for watching.
@@SonofaFritzFilms my grandma died today. I saw your notification and saw this back again. Thank you. These are the little things that smooth a great disaster.
Incredible work, David! I think this hearkens back to a mantra I try to live by: be kind to others because you never know what someone is going through.
The Store clerk Derek should received bonus for his patience and compassion. My mother has terrible time with Cellphone (being she 82 years old). She gets easily frustrated, I always try being patience and explaining things whenever possible.
In an era that most everything has become impersonal, crossing the one person who brakes the (man made rules), in the name of humanity is what makes the humanity remain alive. In my book, this short is absolutely timeless on several levels. For one, there are always times that older generation stay behind in keeping with new technology so this particular experience that James and Derek are experiencing will remain applicable for any other era. Also the sense of universality of this short is what keeps this piece timeless. Finally it is the humanity in this film has a transcending notion about it that doesn’t stop with a specific time.
What kind and beautiful words, thank you so much!! As an artist it is always my great hope that any piece made becomes timeless and resonates with many over the years, so your words are very encouraging and motivate me to continue making films like this.
Brilliant! What a great plot. One of these where you think it is one thing, and then it is …much deeper. Twist idea: The man is actually also one of the owners/supervisors, acting as a mystery shopper to see how far his employees will go in human customer service.
Hi! Writer/Director here, just wanted to thank you for the kind words. I've heard quite a few different alternate plot twists as this film screened at various festivals, but this is the first time I've come across this one. Very creative!
@@SonofaFritzFilms Glad you like it! I watch a *lot* of short films, but it is the first time I thought of a plot twist. I like these gems to stand as pieces of art in their own. And yours is! Just thought that twist might be interesting too. Beautifil acting especially by the widower. Once it is revealed why he is behaving the way he does, one can feel the pain in every word and every silence between them!
My dude and I have this unbelievable connection. It's inexplicable. We love al the same food, and hate onions. We love the same movies and books. We are strange people that are the same. They say to be complete within oneself but I never was. "You complete me" is a accurate.
That someone had to defy their employer, risk their jobs just to have compassion is just heart wrenching.
In the world of sales jobs, and retail in general this happens quite often unfortunately.

It means a lot to me that you'll remember this short for a very long time. It's been a long process between producing it, screening it around the country, and now publicly releasing it on UA-cam. I especially love your last sentence describing it, I'll remember that one for a long time as well. Thank you.
Love is the most important thing in this life. Always love hard and forever!
Simple yet extraordinary
A beautiful and very moving film. I'm so pleased it came up on my feed. Congratulations to all involved.
I’m so glad to hear it came across your feed as well! For years it’s been my great hope that as many people as possible would see this film, and your comment means so much to me and the production!
What a powerful film.
Lindo filme! Chorei feito criança....kkk...e minha alma está mais leve. Obrigado!
Obrigado por assistir e pelas palavras gentis. Fico feliz de ver que esse filme continua a atingir tantas pessoas ao redor do mundo.
A truly beautiful and beautifully crafted piece of work
Thank you so much for the kind words, Nick. It truly means a lot to myself and everyone involved making this film.
What a lovely sensitive film.
wow. such a sliver of humanity so hard to find many days. a gesture that lightens the pain often takes just moments. i need to get help saving audio recordings in next 2 weeks before they get deleted. they are of my dog Liams snoring the last few yrs of his life. a very timely film for me.😪
So refreshing to experience a movie that doesn't make the audience sit through two minutes of useless opening scenes and credits.
Beautiful, made me feel feelings! Beautiful story telling and shots! Bravo!

Just beautiful.
Many times since lost Mom in 2009 i desperately wish I still had it😢
Derek Did Good. Derek listened and communicated
I’m gonna stop watching these short movies, they’re just heartbreaking. Job well done, but I do not want to cry anymore.
Understandable, appreciate you watching this as well as the kind words!
I'm not easily moved. Well done. I'm going to grab some tissues now.
Why'd you have to bring me back to remember and cry over this man's loss 😭
@@thefolkloreof So sorry to hear of your loss, thinking of you and your family during this tough time ❤️
Incredible work, David! I think this hearkens back to a mantra I try to live by: be kind to others because you never know what someone is going through.
An excellent mantra at that! Thank you for watching and for the kind words 😊
Great acting. Well done. Thank you.
The Store clerk Derek should received bonus for his patience and compassion. My mother has terrible time with Cellphone (being she 82 years old). She gets easily frustrated, I always try being patience and explaining things whenever possible.
What a touching and well done film. So quiet and simple but it just drew me in. Thank you.
This is truly one of the best films I've seen in my whole life. Thank you so much for delivering this ❤️
Our pleasure, your comment means so much to me and appreciate you taking the time to watch and share such kind words ❤️
Beautiful comment.

What a warm and tender movie! Brilliantly screenplay, direction and acting. I wish the world was like Derek 🙂
Short but full of emotion. A good reminder of what human beings should be like. Thank you!
Dude why can't you direct more films... really appreciate your work mate !
In the process of making one now, shoot date is later this month 😁
Thanks for the kind words and for watching!
Someone's cutting onions in here man. 😭
Bravo! 2 wonderful actors in a great story
Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching 😊
My dude and I have this unbelievable connection. It's inexplicable. We love al the same food, and hate onions. We love the same movies and books. We are strange people that are the same. They say to be complete within oneself but I never was. "You complete me" is a accurate.
