Negative Feedback is a natural part of selling. You cannot please everyone all the time, even when you do everything perfectly. In fact, most if not all of the best Sellers on eBay have 80-99% feedback. I personally reply to all of the feedback that is negative. If I have points about the Buyer's motive, attitude and ignorance; I make them very clear and shame them publicly for it. Not in a way that eBay will take action against me, just enough to let them and everyone else know I am not their emotional punching bag. Then I block them and never have to speak or sell to them again. Presto done-zo.
Regarding mindset, the biggest challenge is to consistently list. I’m kind of a binge person where I’ll go on a tear, but then kind of not be in the mood for it some days.
Regarding the negative feedback: if you feel like you have exhausted, all options to have it removed I would suggest replying to the feedback stating that you had this in the description as well as you return the item for the full refund to the buyer. This allows, future buyers that look at this feedback to understand you did everything in your power to make it right.
Just found your channel. For so long have been trying to motivate myself to get my eBay re-selling going again. Have been watching your videos. Such great content, have learned so many really useful tips, information, selling terms I had never heard of before, and ways to keep yourself organized. I keep coming right back and always learn something new. Love your straightforward calming demeanor, no nonsense, your format and NO music. Thank you so much for sharing and for your channel.
I think mindset is easily one of the most overlooked aspects of reselling and a great idea for a video. Based on some comments Ive read on FB threads and elsewhere, it is important to treat this like a brick and mortar and treat customers as if they are stepping into your shop. Ive heard sellers complain about having to follow up about shipments after shipping or needing to answer questions from buyers. By putting forth effort to help is what sets you apart from the avg seller. You are the point of contact and it is your responsibility to help your customers. A little goes a long way, I try to go above and beyond which often takes only a few minutes to respond, google some information or even try to track a package down, quickly test or double check something on an item, etc. I let the customer know that I am at least making an effort to help which has put out more than one fire. Customers often just need to be heard. It seems some sellers just like to go aloof, ghost people or block them when there is some type of follow up required. Long response but I do feel strongly about this.
On the gentleman that could not get feedback removed, he could if on his laptop, write a polite response explaining size was listed in description and in item specifics and was very accurately described, yet full return was given in spite of this.
I use drafts to save thngs I've looked up but are in the death pile. This helps me keep track of what isn't listed. And I can reup the draft when they get close to deleting.
Oh for sure mindset is very important, it plays a very important role in motivation. When I get a sale it changes my mindset and encourages me to list another good item.
I think another great way to boost up your rating on eBay is to go in and give ratings for previous sales that you have not gotten feedback for as a seller yet. This way the buyer will notice that you rated them and will more than likely return the favor.
For the guy who wanted to run a promotional on items he relists, just put the date of purchase in the SKU and this will appear in all new relists that get done for that item going forward.
Hey Justin, as we get closer and closer to Christmas I am sure I am going to get questions from buyers like "Can you make sure this gets to me before Christmas, it's a present?". How do you handle buyers who request their item get there before Christmas especially, when we get within a week or two of the holiday. This is my first Christmas as a reseller. Thanks. My SKU for inventory items includes a unique number for the item and an alpha/numeric code for the year/month/day of the original listing. So if I end & relist an item I always know at a glance when I originally listed it. It's the one thing I've done right in this business. 😀

People are jerks. I just received this message on Ebay - "FYI - I just received a message that the carrier "attempted delivery" and will reschedule for tomorrow. We are sitting in our living room and have been home all day. No one rang the doorbell or knocked on the door. Pitiful "attempted delivery" in my estimation. Since shipping largely determines a satisfied customer, I thought you would like to know." How the f*ck is that my fault? I'm sure this will result in negative feedback - I should add that this item was ordered Thursday morning, and shipped Thursday morning. I couldn't have done anything better. I hate people.
You see, this is why I don't accept returns. I know that not accepting affects sales. I sell new, so it's important to me to have not returned products. Also, descriptions are everything. Additionally, call during business hours in America otherwise I find little gets reversed.

With a lack of sleep last night, my body was strongly yelling ‘nap’… that is… til the title of ur video had me completely wide eyed! A wk ago, eBay deleted ALL of my listings, I panicked, then found them + immediately started the sell similar process, + relisted many the next day. Then I noticed that I was getting hit w/so many fees bc it went over my 250 limit since I also listed what I had in drafts. I called eBay, + since it was close to midnight, they said they’ll send it to the dept that will take care of it within 3-5 days. Well… this is the 5th day… and I still can’t list til November w/o even more fees against my bank, so I’ll call eBay again in the AM. Ever heard of this particular experience b4? Signed: Nightmare!
Your videos are always right on point with me lately. I received my first negative feedback since I've been on ebay since 1996. They waited 6 weeks to complain, because of course ebay gives them 3 months to return like we are running a dept store. Funny thing they never asked for a refund as I have about 95% of my listings w/free returns. Even though we all know ebay makes you return everything no matter what you say. Customer is always right. I knew they would leave a negative and I wasn't upset as I thought I would be. Turns out I had a fantastic week of sales a few days later. Coincidence? Did I find the algorithm secret? Who knows but I didn't contact ebay for removal.
QUESTION!!!!! GREAT INFO!!!!! got a quick question. what do you do about listings you post and dont get any views? how long you leave them posted? are do you pull them and relist them at a later time?guess im not patient lol any info would help, thanks again
Hi Justin, regarding your upcoming "mindset" video. My wife and I have been reselling for a while now. For the most part, I feel like any sale that turns a profit is a good one. My wife, however, wants to get the most profit out of any sale. What do you and/or your wife feel about this topic? Thanks for the content, I always appreciate what you have to share.
Hi Justin! I just joined flipwise yesterday and LOVE it! I have 2 Ebay stores .. does flip wise accommodate 2 stores yet and if not so you know when it will? Thanks!
Not yet, but we will allow you to connect multiple accounts in the future. For now you'd need to create two Flipwise accounts, one for each eBay store.
I wouldn't get hung up on the occasional negative feedback as long as you're close to 100% positive. It looks like eBay is emphasizing various customer service metrics recently like highlighting the shipping time you offer in green and also noting the average response time for messages. This was probably possible before but I was recently prompted to add a profile photo and I used a photo of myself so buyers can see that I'm a real person not some anonymous business run by who-knows-who. It's worth taking a look at your own seller profile page (not just the seller dashboard) to see how you're presenting yourself to potential buyers. Whatever one item they chance across that you're selling brings them only a click away from your profile so you should seek to optimize it to the extent you can like you would a social media profile so it's appealing and inspires confidence in a purchase from you.
My draft list is mostly things I’m still researching or tweaking photos, basically working on them, the item specifics slows me down. No nefarious reasons, just time 😙
You should ALWAYS be thinking about how to list things from the buyer's perspective. Not just for lots, but for everything that you actually want to sell.
Have a question on auctions and eBay standard envelope shipping? When the item price goes over 20 dollars and the auction start price was way under 20 dollars why does buyer get the standard envelope shipping choice when paying, but When I go to buy shipping label-eBay won’t allow me to ship standard envelope price and the buyer only pays the lowest shipping option? I sincerely appreciate your help with this one please🙏🏻
Would you ever consider doing a semi-regularly store / account review? Something where you go through a subscriber’s store and give feedback on a couple of listings and store setup and branding (if applicable)? (I’d like to sign up for this 😂)
Re the negative feedback, if eBay won't remove it, you should respond to the negative posting by stating you put the dimensions in the listing for all buyers to see, including the buyer who gave negative feedback. But even though the buyer did not read the dimensions in the listing, you accepted a return from the buyer without objection.
I know I spend a lot of time on my listings but I guess I’m just not comfortable with downloading my pictures directly to eBay. I take all pics in my phone and down load to my computer. I guess I like the bigger screen for my listings. Lol I do have 1 question today. If I have multiple but similar items, like a bunch of fall/christmas pillow covers or a bunch of DVD’s, I always list 1 each for the listing. I see people have 1 listing for something like this for someone to chose from. Is that an advantage to listing some of my items this way? If so, how do I set that up? I think it’s different than doing a multiple listing, is it more? Thanks so much. Love your videos. Most helpful for us newbies.
So I listed a SpaceX kids t-shirt which I'm not able to post a picture of on the comments. But I used the information from a adult 's SpaceX t-shirt that's on eBay for sale. For some reason mine got removed as being counterfeit yet the adult t-shirt which was bought at SpaceX in Houston same place as mine, is still listed on eBay.
I try to list every day. Oct was my worst month yet! Hardly sold anything. But I know I have to keep going and hopefully it will sell at some point. I second guess my wording with everything I post, hoping what i am listing has the right buzz words, etc. Verging on the 7th month now, still trying to figure out how to do international sales.
eBay just automatically put my store in international with no input from me!! I don't really want it 😔 and have no clue how to undo what they have done. eBay just does whatever they want and your taken along for the ride. I really don't like only getting 40% of what's the "total value" of sale like over the moon shipping charges which rips you off for a higher total fee. It's just not worth wasting almost an hour to list for two dollars cleared, which doesn't include my initial costs factored into the mix. Working for zero!!!
Hi Justin. I agree that the mind set topic is a great idea. For me, it would be interesting to hear from ADHD and neurodivergent sellers sharing some tips and tricks for staying motivated and on task. Thanks for being awesome.
Aha, I'm ADHD and unorganized as hell so I started photographing 10-15 items AM, then in the evening as I'm watching TV or Justin videos, I complete the listing on my Iphone over a few nights. That's as organized as I can get!
I also struggle with ADHD. I find body doubling helps, I take pictures and go to the library where there are no distractions and none of my own stuff to distract me. Even if the other people at the library don't know they are helping to keep me on task it works. I have seen body doubling videos for studying or cleaning, I would love to be part of a live listing group.
yeah i got some neutral feedback stating they expected something to be bigger, my pictures show the size on the box and the weight.... Like that is something you knowingly could see in the title and pictures LMAO
Right. I had one where she left a “positive” but bitched about it “smaller than she expected but it’s cute”so I left a reply saying “yes it’s tiny, picture 4 4.75 inches but darling, glad you like!”
My eBay seller performance has been below standard for a long time because of being out of stock on a few items. I’ve learned my lesson to never be out of stock on an item for one. And after attempting to contact eBay several times to try to get this removed and become an above standard seller, I have gotten nowhere. I’ve shown vast improvement in my store this past month. Just don’t know what to do from here. Should I open up a new eBay account altogether? Any suggestions from anybody I could use some help. Thank you
I'm new to eBay reselling but I just noticed something worth mentioning. I set up a few of my auctions using the "Make Offer" feature and noticed there are a lot of buyers that seem to be fishing to see what my "Make Offer" price is by placing back to back bids...$10, then $15, then $20 because they know eBay will auto decline any offer that is lower then the amount I have selected as my "Make Offer" price. I've only been reselling for about 3 months now but it's already making me not want to use the "Make Offer" feature because why would anyone "Buy Now" when you have "Make Offer" available and buyer knows they can get the item for less money? Any advice?
Question for Justin or anyone who reads this. I had someone purchase one of my items on a late evening and I shipped it early the next morning. About an hour after I shipped and dropped it off at the post office I got a message saying that it was not their correct address. They had about 12 hours from time of purchase to when I shipped it in the morning. I know not to change addresses from what is in eBay of course but it was already out of my hands and at the post office at that point. They did use the words “what can we do to make this right” at some point in the messages so it made me think they were scammers trying to do a bait and switch. They were not lying about the address though as I received it back due to the location being vacant. Would you send the money back even though they’ve been silent for 3 weeks now and I also have the item back to resell it? I guess it comes down to my morals but it does feel like they were trying to pull a fast one on me and the fact that they never responded back after mentioning that the best bet would be to contact eBay although I do feel bad to have the item and their money. I did already contact eBay and they said I do not have to refund them in this scenario.
Refund minus the cost you paid for shipping. Then block them. There is still a very small risk if you keep the shipping you had to pay (due to their error) they might do a chargeback. If they leave negative feedback over it eBay should remove it (but it is always at their sole discretion and they don't always follow their own policies 100% of the time.)
Can you suggest a reasonably priced, easy to use, home wifi label printer? I began looking and there are literally Tons to choose from and I have no idea which to choose. I also have Many drafts that I create when I have the extra time to list when my time is short which is Very helpful. I'm really beginning to get burnt out on ebay selling as there are just constant issues. And Buyers can just be intentionally mean.
I went through that process last year and eventually decided to get the cheapest label printer I could find which had decent reviews. Went with a Pedoolo brand on Amazon for around $80. It's been great.
Hello, Justin Resells. I have a smoke detector, and on the day after I listed it, a new buyer purchased it. They registered on that same day and have no feedback. Should I proceed with the sale or refuse it? Thank you.
hey justin - new question: when you say you don't take offers - why do people ignore this? i have an item listed for 11.00 - someone just emailed me with an offer for 8.00 - for crying out loud - even though i don't take offers! do i have to respond? will i get dinged if i don't? this is driving me crazy(ier). thanks - libby
I could care less that someone leaves negative feedback, however when it counts against my rating that sucks! it takes like 10 positives to counteract .1 negative feedback. so, if you drop .5 points then it will take 50 positives. if you're a new seller, a negative can be very bad.
I've had a couple of packages get lost in the mail and had to refund the buyer. Do you claim the usps insurance on that package after that? I never done it just wondering what to do.
Regarding the Gentleman who had the issue of "attempted delivery" and the post office is hanging onto the item.. I had the same issue and eBay does not pay you until it's marked Delivered... so if I had to guess his money is still in limbo.
How do you keep track of your buy costs for items in your death pile? I don't think there's a way to track that in flipwise, so I've just been using a notebook. Just wondered if you had a different way to do it.
Why can't a seller leave negative feedback on a purchase anymore?? Some people have had issues or didn't pay for their purchases but eBay doesn't let you leave negative feedback for those people. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️ I've been on eBay for a long time (20+ years) and I've noticed that now as a seller you can't leave bad feedback?!?? What is OUR recourse?
It's been this way for a very long time, possibly over 10-15 years. As a seller, your recourse is to report a problem buyer with ebay if they break the rules. Too many rule breaks = terminated account. Negative feedback isn't for buyers, it's for sellers. Name another platform where business owners can denigrate their customers in public. Take your time---I'll wait.
@@kibble-net I don't remember saying anything about denigrating. If someone doesn't pay for an item, other sellers should be able to know about that. You don't need to be condescending and rude.
Whenever I am trying to decide whether or not to buy something or to try a new restaurant or whatever, I check the negative reviews first. Half the time they're something silly like, "It never arrived" (Amazon) or "I've never eaten there" (Google Maps). Then why did you give a bad review?! If I saw "Item was too small," I would not hesitate to buy from that seller, assuming the measurements were included on the item I was considering. 🤷🏼♀️
I always try to set my customers expectation properly by posting colors and dimensions. Unfortunately, I cannot make them read the item descriptions.” Is that too salty?
MINDSET : “Tuition ain’t cheap”(name of another good UA-camr out there too) you are going to make mistakes. You’re going to pass on something you should’ve grabbed. You’re going to buy things you shouldn’t and you are going to overpay for things you thought were valuable and aren’t. It’s okay. It’s part of the learning process. I’ve lamented over paying 20 dollars for something only to find that it really only sells for $25 instead of $250. But for 20 bucks i learned a good lesson about that item and will now be able to grab the $250 the next time i come across it. Mistakes are all tuition. A price paid for a lesson learned.
I'm curious how you can ship a jacket to Rhode Island for six bucks, when it would cost me twelve to ship a pair or jeans there and I am closer? I can't image that jacket weighing less than a pair of jeans.
Those nano puffers from Patagonia are pretty light. I can't remember the exact weight but it was definitely under a pound. Jeans are often over a pound. Edit: just checked, it was 15oz including the polybag. If it's costing you $12 to ship jeans, try stuffing it in a USPS flat rate padded envelope; you'll save a few bucks.
Check your pricing including shipping. It's easy to overestimate the shipping cost on these which can make the total purchase price way higher than competitors.
It’s that your drafts expire and get deleted after 90? Days so he advised not to keep too long, it was one of the questions someone asked near the beginning
I don't understand the "draft bank" strategy. Is consistency supposed to provide some advantage? A bigger advantage than 400 live listings? Has anyone quantified the financial advantage? Because it looks like superstitious rain-dancing.
@justinresells ohhh... ok, I call those two different things & that's why I was confused. For me, I call published listings "Listings" and the non-published draft listings "Drafts" LoL
Hey Justin, just a question about mindset. Could you give some advice about feeling very overwhelmed when you get a lot of things going wrong at once. Bad things seem to come in waves for me, I'll have awesome weeks with good sales and no complaints, then I'll have a week of return requests and buyer requesting cancellation after buying your item when it was going to be a good profit etc. Thank you.
One of the reasons eBay will remove feedback is "Negative comments with positive ratings, or positive comments with negative ratings" so this may fall under that!
I just got a neutral with a positive comment like that. eBay refused to remove it because it didn't "violate policy". They DID remove a negative with a similar comment, but they wouldn't do it for a neutral I was told. (My policy was followed and both went on my BBL.)
I recently sold half my tech stock holdings due to all-time highs, leaving me with $400k. Should I invest in ETFs now or wait for a market correction considering potential inflation?
From $37K to $45K that's the minimum range of profit return every week I thinks it's not a bad one for me, now I have enough to pay bills and take care of my family.
Sounds interesting. I was planning to invest some few £ in some coins, stack them up and leave them for a few years, but seeing this changed my mindset. Thank you very much
These videos never get old, there are so many different situations coming at yall every week. Justin the voice of reason "don't worry about it"

This is good to know. I need to start making videos like these.
Really like the video question !
Mindset sounds like a wonderful topic. Although, I don’t think you could do a bad video on any topic.
I take my relistings and schedule them in the future so even if I get busy, I can schedule stuff that goes off automatically at least once a day.
I have loved your thoughts on mindset especially listing motivation vs discipline
@@justinresells Thank you! I am thinking of just closing the second one and just combining them into 1 anyway. Thank you for your quick response!
The photography lights you have in your description. Are they pretty good? And bright? My main store is clothes.
I've experienced eBay removing the negative feedback for me without me even asking after a couple of months.
Suggestion to know how long an item has been listed if you don't have a third-party program or a spreadsheet. Enter the date in the SKU field.
On below, this will benefit other buyers looking that will clearly see seller is reputable and basically hit a jerk.
eBay doesn't consider relisiting an item as a new listing. You have to end the listing and then "SELL SIMIILAR."
both relist and sell similar create an entirely new listing with new item id. give it a shot!
Carol Dewick has some great points( infographic ) on having a Growth Mindset
Hi great videos… I think what you meant to say is END and “sell similar”
End and relist/sell-similar are the same thing
I had to tell myself in the beginning not to let the 3 percent stop me from the 97 percent. It’s easy to get emotional about it sometimes.
Thank you
in the comic category there is a mix lot item specific drop down
I'm new to eBay reselling but I just noticed something worth mentioning.
I lost all mine once i was so pissed over 200 listings , getting back slowly selling again
If the customer said they will remove the negative feedback but doesn't, eBay will remove it. You have to point that out to them though.
Thank you.
No reason to refuse the sale. I sell to new buyers all the time!
Hey Justin, does flipwise work for other currencies? I am a Canadian reseller and I've found nothing as in-depth as what you have to offer.
Yep, it works for sellers in Canada, too.
Hi Justin. Have you ever used Deal Soldier? Know of anyone who has used it? What were the impressions and effectiveness?
I've never used Deal Soldier or talked to anyone who has! Thanks for watching.
JRide Flips uses it and has a video about it 😊
Drafts. If you do a bulk exit of your drafts, then choose save for later, the 75 day count will start over.
hey justin - new question: when you say you don't take offers - why do people ignore this? i have an item listed for 11.00 - someone just emailed me with an offer for 8.00 - for crying out loud - even though i don't take offers! do i have to respond? will i get dinged if i don't? this is driving me crazy(ier). thanks - libby
So when a seller is looking for an item does the algorithm pull info from the description as well as the title?
yep ua-cam.com/video/elNLd5v7n_o/v-deo.html
You can do a reply to their negative feedback. Be careful what you enter.
Regarding the Gentleman who had the issue of "attempted delivery" and the post office is hanging onto the item.. I had the same issue and eBay does not pay you until it's marked Delivered... so if I had to guess his money is still in limbo.
Good point, you're right. I think eBay holds funds for newer sellers until the item is marked as delivered.
Any recommendations on what app I can use to cross list? TIA
I don't cross-list so I'm not sure. Sorry!
Thanks!
How do you keep track of your buy costs for items in your death pile? I don't think there's a way to track that in flipwise, so I've just been using a notebook. Just wondered if you had a different way to do it.
I have a good memory and don't keep a death pile typically, but we will make it possible to add your unlisted inventory to Flipwise soon!
@@justinresells Thank you, that would be a huge help for me and I'm sure many others!
Why can't a seller leave negative feedback on a purchase anymore?? Some people have had issues or didn't pay for their purchases but eBay doesn't let you leave negative feedback for those people. 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
I've been on eBay for a long time (20+ years) and I've noticed that now as a seller you can't leave bad feedback?!??
Unfortunately, I cannot make them read the item descriptions.”
Is that too salty?
Ebay is now charging me .35 for a listing.
eBay will charge you an insertion fee if you go over your allotment of "free" listings. Consider upgrading to a store for a larger allotment.
Mindset and presence are like magic keys. Unfortunately, many don't believe in magic.
You might be able to ship the jeans GA cubic in a small box, that will be less than $12 than a 2lb regular GA, possibly 30-40% less.
Ive purchased 2 vcr dvd combo with remotes. Not one view for weeks now?
Check your pricing including shipping. It's easy to overestimate the shipping cost on these which can make the total purchase price way higher than competitors.
Did I miss the part on mass deleting from eBay?
It’s that your drafts expire and get deleted after 90? Days so he advised not to keep too long, it was one of the questions someone asked near the beginning
Looking for where to send an email question or video. I think I'm dealing with a scammer and need advice. It's small potatoes but still bugging me.

Is Random buyer of giant pants a friend ? Seems like you’re roasting someone 🤣
I don't understand the "draft bank" strategy. Is consistency supposed to provide some advantage? A bigger advantage than 400 live listings? Has anyone quantified the financial advantage? Because it looks like superstitious rain-dancing.
The title of this video is confusing... Did you mean mass deletion of DRAFTS? (and not actual listings)?
A draft is a listing, and this seller is using the draft bank to store his completed listings that are ready to be published, so I meant listings. :)
@justinresells ohhh... ok, I call those two different things & that's why I was confused. For me, I call published listings "Listings" and the non-published draft listings "Drafts" LoL
@@MystiqueOfWonderme too!
got it! I consider a draft just a listing in a pre-published state. but, to each their own!
Hmmm when someone searches, does the algorithm pull info from your description as well as your title? 🤔
Ebay could care less about any seller we ARE SORRY FOR FRUSTRATION
Drafts dont make money so get them listed 🎉
Drafts are deleted in 90 days I believe.
Thank you.
I am pretty sure they delete drafts after 90 days.
I think I read yesterday cause I was looking up some thing it’s 75 days
I just checked. It's 75 days!
I got a neutral feedback and they said it was perfect.. Smh 😑
One of the reasons eBay will remove feedback is "Negative comments with positive ratings, or positive comments with negative ratings" so this may fall under that!
@@justinresells OK thanks I will reach out to ebay any tips on how to do that?
www.ebay.com/sellerhelp/feedback
