- This is my second Total War Mod TImelapse in which the Soviet Union has been buffed to offer more resistance against Germany. However, even with buffs, the war wont be easy for the Comintern.
World War 2 can be called an economic war, and in this mod, you will feel the value of every resource at your disposal, for instance, you will find that as Germany or Italy limiting all exports and creating an inter-axis economy benefits you the most, whereas as the Soviet Union or the United States of America you will find that opening up to trade and protecting the un-synthesizable resources from the Axis Powers is the most beneficial for your country and your faction and overall win a decisive strategic victory!
The Total War dev team has a goal in mind and that is to make the historical immersion mod that is eSports ready, Immersion is very important to us as we are all WW2 enthusiasts, and any suggestions to how this immersion can be improved will be considered and can be entered in the discord. Although, bear in mind that gameplay and balance will always be given priority!
The Total War Mod can be downloaded from the Steam Workshop. Its definitely worth a try as it is very well made!

The AI soloed itself in Iraq. Like always, every member of the faction puts massive troops on one front, no matter how the supply situation is. That happens all the time when you play the Allies.

Dude germany was fighting at least 10 million Russians lol it’s not like they could send any help at all lol since everyone was fighting and Iraq held off a force not nearly as large as the Germans faced. If Iraq had faced that Soviet force of at least 400 divisions then it would’ve been annexed in less than a week lol so Germany was carrying big time there

Stalin made more preparations than people give him credit for, in the Hitler-Mannerheim tape Hitler even expressed his shock at how much the Soviets had built up. It's believed the build up was known about (hence the sudden invasion) but the degree was a surprise. No doubt Europe would be a lot more red had the Soviets had even more time.
Peeps don't give enough credit to the winter Germans faced man smh, if it wasn't for the winter and the fact the Germans were not prepared for it then the soviets would've had it very very nasty
Realistically, the Soviets very much had the intention of at least keeping themselves the options open for starting their own invasion. You don't build up a giant tank force solely for defending.
Would be interesting if they would actually release their own strategy papers from that time to see what their potential goal was. Probably something along the lines of what they did after the war, where they effectively invaded (in that order) Poland, Hungary and Czechoslovakia, with Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and possibly Turkey also on the long-term list.
@@rjrx3939 the whole winter thing is an average person reason for explaining why the germans lost, it was way more about oil supplies and the poor infrastructure that couldnt sustain a fast paced war in the vast russian terrain, far away from the german home base.

@@james64ibm The Soviets had wanted an invasion of Germany as early as the 30s, but the western Allies refused, so the idea that they'd be building up an army to invade definitely checks out

Look closer. It was soviets, who occupied all Italy. Allies occupied only France and Benelux. Why USSR got southern France - that is a question, though they clearly had upper hand in negotiations.
@@thedreamscripter4002 the reason they got france is because they had far more warscore than the allies so according to hoi4 game mechanics they can do unrealistic stuff like take half of liberated allied controlled france. its a game mechanic issue but its pretty funny just how bad and unrealistic it is
@@notascientist709 I don't even think it's completely unrealistic, Stalin would argue this entire European war was fought by the soviets. He could threaten a new war over a part of France. Allies didn't declare war on them for invading Poland and Stalin might call a bluff again. Also they wanted the communist system to spread over the entire world, better take as much as possible when it's for the taking.

Be humble. I think it does. Almost every single game the axis powers work really hard together (especially Romania and Germany) but Italy goes full retard and just drives their divisions around. In their nation, which doesn’t really help anyone

Well in my games they loose North Africa but conquer a good part of Africa from Ethiopia, they send me as germany like 20 expeditionary forces like Hungary during Barbarossa
@@tomip2636 I had a MP game against a friend (new player) who was playing as the US and Italy steam rolled Africa and then when I joined the Japanese faction (friend took Japanese homelands) they sent all their troops to Japan and held against the Soviets, half of Raj, and the UK. To say the least I was dumbfounded because every game I have to guard them or watch them get naval invaded 24/7.
Too bad though they kept demanding Japanese land which because Paradox are lazy devs just gave the land back to the original holder. So they had to conquer half of Raj and then the entirety of Raj again...
Be humble. @FatheredPuma81 seems like you guys are having better luck with the Italian AI. Everytime I play Axis i have to babysit because Italy is just shitting and pissing

This question is for anybody who notices: Between the Expect AI and Total War AI what's the difference between the two AI systems since both seem to be smarter then the Vanilla AI because they sent the majority of their forces to the front lines in massive force but it seems like they operate differently? So what's the difference between the two AI mods and which is smarter then the other?
Its not the AI in particular, it´s the division templates. The Expert AI mod (dunno how it is in Total War AI) makes the AI building actual good templates, not like in Vanilla.

Germany doesnt seem much better, althoufh they did much better in Barb, they suffered 500k casualties with Fall Gelb and weserubung, way too much

Actually Stalin was prepared for war. And it was offensive war. Only this can explain total defeat of Soviet Army in 1941. They had no dreams of peace with Germany since 1939 at the latest. So, wondering why lost the whole army within 3 months of 1941?

How about a scenario where France didn't fall to Germany and WW2 became a stalemate between France and Germany? There will be a lot of "foreign" powers helping these two brutes fight each other. The Commonwealth sent volunteer and expeditionary forces from all its land (volunteers from British Raj, South Africa, New Zealand, and Canada).
The scenario could be like this:
In 1939, instead of signing the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact, Stalin decided to refuse any alliance between Germany and Soviet. Instead prefered convincing the Allies of the Reich's menace. As in our history, the Allies brushed off Stalin's warning.
In late 1939 (after Germany invasion of Poland and the Baltics) however, the allies finally find out the Soviets were serious about their warning and decided to make a defensive pact between France, UK, and Soviet Union. Just like in the first world war.
Unfortunately, germany invaded Benelux and northern France before the pact could be ratified, while the Soviets realize that they need more time and preparation before joining the war, lest the tragedy in the first world war be repeated.
The Soviets, however, put up a lot of troops in its border as an act of deterrence against German Reich. This made Germany use many of its troops to reinforce its Eastern border, in preparation of Soviet invasion.
With the help of the Commonwealth troops in mainland France, colonial France troops, Soviet volunteers, and unoptimal numbers of invading German army in France, France has time to finally mobilize, equip, and bolster their rank and military.
No longer a war of intervention but a war of survival, the French people find themselves once more called to defend their homeland against the might and menance of this monstrous fascist empire. No longer the french people divided between the socialist-communist, the liberal-capitalist, and the reactionary-conservative. No longer the French people divided. Ils ne passeront pas!
You could achieve such scenario by doing this:
1. As Soviets, deny the molotov-ribbentrop pact, justify war against Germany and always maintain a casus beli against Germany, send volunteers to France. Dont ever declare war against Germany before 1945.
2. As Germany, eat up Poland, Baltics, Balkans, etc. Don't ever declare war against Soviet before 1945.
3. As France, join the allies early and prepares against German invasion.
5. As any fascist countries: send volunteers to Germany.
6. As any democratic or communist countries: send volunteers to France.
At 3:03 There could have had been a pocket at Poland that would have had encircled millions

well if this would be reality and soviet army would have been war ready the war would have been over within 1-2 years but in game with boosting ai it makes not such a big difference
Its sad how Iraq holding out on 3 fronts is less rare than good borders, and somehow in this episode both were achieved
So the USSR lost almost 20 million men and still had 7 million on the front. Huh.

The Germans swarm that single strat bomber with fighters, then overrun them on land and claim 99 nukes, then with many more strat bombers, proceed to turn the soviet union into a nuclear wasteland and threaten to do the same to the allied powers unless they surrender.

I mean it makes sense as to why Stalin didn’t prepare very early, even though because of him the soviet industrialisation was at its peak hence as to how it managed to defeat the nazi war machine as well as guarantee it’s safety, the nazis diverted all of its focus on the military, the soviets weren’t militarists or fascists, they were focused on a new constitution, speeding up the industrial process as well as for the safety of the ussr, Molotov and Stalin approved of the pacts made with the nazis for no aggression, as well as fixing up the economic consequences from the civil war.
And technically Stalin prepared by establishing the buffer states, aka taking baltics, eastern Poland, Karelia, and bessarbia
