Doing these kinds of videos is great man and I have to say that bass sounds great while also looking like a Fender with a lovely maple fret-board, I find them more appealing looking that the darker rosewood kind.

Wow, picking pattern is not standard at all I analyzed the video and tried playing the way he does it's easier this way. He doesn't alternate pick everything, there is a lot of downstrokes. It doesn't go down up, down up, down up. It goes d d u d d d d d u, d d u d d d d. Basically, he only uses upstroke for D to E and for A to A# which are short bursts of notes played on one string. It seems like David doesn't like to use alternate picking between strings which also explains why he has trouble playing this riff with fingers and since he is a downward pick slant player he is prone to have problems in this specific area. So he solved those string skipping problems by using downstrokes much more often. He just didn't pay enough attention to outside picking and changing strings and so he developed his technique based on downstrokes.
