He used to play with his finger during the early days of Megadeth. Watch the 84 show with Kerry King and Lee Rausch, he plays with his fingers. Also he does Fingerstyle when he chills in the background during extended versions of songs, like She Wolf.

Great interview Mr Ellefson and that peace sells riff is an absolute classic. One thing though , Sid Vicious couldn't play for toffees , all the bass lines on "Never mind the Bollocks" were played by Steve Jones.
