    I own a Kioti 3510 loader tractor. I don’t have a backhoe, but did buy a stump bucket that is great at uprooting stumps and large rocks. Backhoes are great for digging big deep holes and deep trenching. My advice is take your time and really learn your needs for the tractor before buying. Happy Homsteading!

      @@philrodger2716 TY and I'm doing okay. Been so difficult at how quickly she went, suffering with a broken hip, dementia and not eating or taking fluids for the last week of her life. She had a DNR in place, so the doctor respected our wishes to just let hospice take over, keep her as comfortable as possible until her body just gave up. We lost our dad just prior to my 23rd birthday as he (@ 45 yrs. old) and my mom had a car accident the night of my older brother's wedding and dad died instantly and we almost lost mom as she was critically injured. This happened on Mother's Day and mom was buried on the same day my dad passed. Been a journey, but I have picked up my cross and am moving on. ♥

    You guys definitely need a tractor! Save your back. We have a Mahindra. It was great for us here on the farm but even more useful up north at the camp. Honestly the best and adding the backhoe was just icing on the cake. We were able to finance ours with 0% interest for 7 years. Open loan so you can pay it off whenever you feel like. Which is what we did when we refinanced the house to buy the camp. Just a thought... sometimes better to buy brand new and not have to deal with someone else's bad maintenance and upkeep. Not always easy to see what can go wrong with a used piece of machinery. Even for Jason and he's a heavt truck mechanic that has worked on tractors his whole life. Good luck and can't wait to see what you decide on. That Bobcat looks good on ya's!

    Enjoyed the video, the technique of starting with action without words is becoming popular and is a great introduction to a good video! I know it is more expensive, but you have a tractor, I would get a backhoe with bucket. It will do everything a tractor will do except pull a plow. Actually, what your borrowed was a bit like I was suggesting if it is big enough. I would look for older but a bit larger based on other YTubers. Even though you leveled it, I would use joists on blocks to keep it off the ground so it will last longer and not rot.

    I just looked at a little Bobcat like that the other day at Blains Farm and Fleet store. It was $16k with a bucket. I think you can attach a snow blower to the front as well on these. I’m thinking of selling my little plow truck and buying something like this. You can only push snow so much til you run out of room. Gotta have a cab though, don’t like being cold 😂

      Ya I wish that wre true...but it is too big for the woods and is only 2wd so it has its limitations. I love older equipment, but with all the tight spaces and hills around here, the old massey just needs a farm to live on.

    • @tomkrause62
      @tomkrause62 Місяць тому

      @@OffgridwithJayandJen Just totally goes against your "make with what got" nature though? When i waa growing up on the farm we were lucky to have wide front axle, let alone 4 wheel drive. We got by without.....

    • @OffgridwithJayandJen
      @OffgridwithJayandJen  Місяць тому

      @tomkrause62 I know....it's why I seem so hesitant in the video and have beat myself up and struggled the last few years without....but the longer I do this, the more I'm realizing if I'm going to make this work amd be efficient at all, I need a more capable tractor. I'm 40 years old now and shoveling all day long and lifting 1000 pound logs over to the saw mill and maintaining my trails and roads just isn't possible for the next 20 years without a machine. Im this video I know the old massey looked like it did the job fine but it took Me 3 hours to move those 4 logs 150 yards over to the mill....not 2 minutes like in the video. Also the massey will not drive up to the cabin....the hill is just too steep to do it safely, so doing what I want to do here is for the next couple decades I need to bite the bullet. It's just silly to fight it.

    I have a c40 Bob cat love mine. My only complaint was my first maintenance which the dealer told me was required after the first 50 hrs. They charged me 1100.00 for the first maintenance. Was supposed to schedule one at 500 hrs I think . Not
    sure if that was just the dealer i used or if all dealers are the same. Would not buy from them agsin for vsriety of reasons. I don't think I will continue with tgst dealer for maintenance either. Overall i love love the tractor.
