I don't understand why some people are leaving disparaging remarks about an infomercial or sponsorships.
A lot of these companies are smaller than they rely upon channels like this to showcase their products.
I would never think that you could run an AC off of solar.
It's up to each individual whether they believe the person or not but I wouldn't be subscribed to you if I thought you were liars.
I'm also not mad that you got it for free.
You have like 50,000 subscribers and that can reach a lot of people people with like-minded interests.

I appreciate that Scott......there is definitely a huge misunderstanding from some folks about the whole YT world. Without these awesome companies sponsoring smaller channels like ours, there wouldn't be a channel, it's simple. Without our subscribers there wouldn't be a channel......most folks understand how it works...but the 2% that don't get it are not something I worry too much about. We appreciate you my friend and thanks for being one of the good ones here. Plus I really had fun with this video and answered a question and problem we have had literally thousands of comments about. Win win

      Hey Jay, I’m Jay👋
And my girlfriends name is Jenn:)
I’ve been running a very small AC at my cabin in VT in a thru wall application. And really been dreaming about a mini split. Would be so great having heat capabilities too. And my coal stove back up.
Thanks for the info and the install footage, very nice.

I am in Las Vegas, Nv. In June it was hitting 100, and this month it has been pretty steady from 112 to 119.
Electric bill for a/c will be $500 to $900 this month.

Ok guys, I just found you. YT algorithm showed you in my feed. I've seen many videos of off-grid people, but I found that they seem too professional and they seem to cater to their sponsors. Your way of saying things are to my easy to understand, and your honesty shines through. I will believe anything you say over those other "experts" subscribed and looking forward for new videos.

It takes a few minutes to get heat going; AC comes on faster. Build a snow shield over the outdoor unit. It doesn’t work with snow blowing into or blocking the unit.

Pretty K👀L DiY Unit. I was wondering if the outside heat pump would still work ok located under the deck mainly for weather protection and Im thinking going up through the floor of the cabin & mounting the inside unit near the floor may make for an easier install IDK.

I think it's great one of the reasons I've never considered off-grid is because I am very intolerant to the heat. I had a traumatic brain injury and when I get hot I can have severe migraines and potentially seizures.
The climate is getting hotter and hotter and this is a wonderful solution so I thank you for bringing it to everyone's attention regardless of if you paid for it or not.

This is perfect. Thanks so much. Our AC is killing us… over $500 a month in the summer. We looked into splits and were quoted around 9K for two units installed. To be fair, the HVAC person who gave us the quote uses high quality splits that have lLong term warranties and can be repaired. He advised against your brand and those like it because they may not be repairable. But heck, if we were to get three years use out of one and replace it ourselves, and did that every few years, we’d still be way ahead.

Just a tip from a professional electrician. Do not connect the power to the unit directly with pipe. Use flex for the last few feet. You must also have a disconnect within 50’ and within sight of the unit.

Good tip....I was being cheap and used rigid because I had some. There is a fusible disconnect under the deck. Appreciate the advice for all

WOW! That is flippen awesome. It looks like MRCOOL thought of everything from a tool kit to finishing touches over piping. Since we run 50 % of our cabin on solar (4.8kWh), I will be interested in the the drain on your system. Cool and heat. In April/Oct we run a propane heater to take the chill off vs. the woodstove. This might be a better option. Thanks for taking this project on. You two rock. 73 & God Bless. JohnyMac

Hey buddy.....as you may remember our system is of similar size and we ran the unit for 8 hours straight during the daytime that week when the Temps we in the high 80s. As long as the sunshine was on my panels, it didn't even effect the batteries.....we pull in about 1200-1500 watts all day long with the good sun exposure we have and that tracker following the sun all day. I did not run it once the sun was off the panels because it would obviously draw the batteries down within 6-8 hours with only having 5kwh Here as well
