Charles, you’re the only guy who can get me to sit through an ad read 🤠👍🏻
*To hell with the factorbox - give us the code to purchase this bass!*
@@CoolPapaJMagik yes!.....but not for the ridiculous, overpriced, unnecessary stuff nobody really needs, which Charles - and everyone else on UA-cam - is pushing (which you can ALWAYS get cheaper elsewhere ....or an equivalent......!)
... but for the HUMOUR ... !!!
No thanks!
If someone gave you a bass made from a tuna can, a bread stick, pubic hairs for strings and staples for frets, you could still make it sound awesome 😂
This guy can make anything sound great
So true. With how good he is at bass, it’s amazing he’d have time to learn piano and guitar so well. Some people just have natural talent 🤠👍🏻
Knowing Charles he probably plays many more instruments too 😭
@@CoolPapaJMagikWasn't piano actually his main instrument?
@@michaelluong6484 could be 🤷🏼♂️
This guy can make anything sound great except the damn chapman stick I've been asking for a year.
Give us the Chapman already!
He could compose an entire song on a rubber band and make it sound epic.
I feel like that's going to be an upcoming video now lol
@@J1ntu I hope so!
Check out Bernth's rubber band guitar
Charles Berthoud: Hold my beer/bass.
That would be awesome
Deep thumping lows, the power of the ultra mini bass. All jokes aside your precision here is impressive. I can’t believe you’re able to make it sound like music at all 🤠👍🏻
It's so much harder to play 🤣
@@CharlesBerthoudtrade fingers with a squirrel 🐿
@@CharlesBerthoud I'm wondering how it is able to maintain, or even achieve anything that comes remotely close to being in usable tuning. Its not like the strings on toys are the real thing. Just a little skeptical and I'm a huge fan of your work dude.
@@michaelfox2433 Trust me I was as surprised as you 🤣it's about 30 cents flat so I had to tune all the background guitars and bass 30 cents flat to match it. The intonation isn't that great but pretty impressive for a random toy they probably never expected anyone to play
@@CharlesBerthoud Fair enough.
Okay this is just nuts. I've seen these "world's cheapest guitar" and "world's smallest guitar" videos but I've never seen one played like this. You made a whole ass song and it sounded GOOD. How did you even tune it? How are your fingers even landing on the right frets? This is just mad.
It's about 30 cents flat and I only played on one string - I had to tune the background guitars and bass 30 cents flat to match it 🤣
@@CharlesBerthoud That's smart to down tune the other instruments to match it. I'm just still amazed that you played anything on it at all. And the fact that you even got it that close to proper tuning, wow
No wonder it sounds so dark!
Quite impressive
Have you seen ichikas "I play $1 Guitar"?
I use to work at a dollar store and a kid asked me about a small plastic guitar we sold if it even worked so I opened it, tuned it and proceeded to play "Sweet Child'o Mine" until a string broke. I had no idea if it would work either but it surprisingly sounded OK. He was flabbergasted and I felt so proud for no reason.
Love the makeshift string strap that you made for yourself.
Seriously Charles, found your channel last year and have seen just about every video you put out, and they’re all great! Keep up the amazing work dude!
I was scrolling down looking for this comment! I don't have to post it now.
I love how we’re all hooked like, “Oh, that does look hilarious.” But then we stay because it’s one of the most metal things ever.
Dude, you literally play bass on the worlds smallest bass better than I can on a normal sized one. I'm in awe of your skill and talent.
That bass really rocks; I’m not sure if the bass is very tiny or if you have become a giant because of the thousands of hours practicing your instrument.
definitely the latter
Both ! (and you make great songs too)
Thank you Charles. The fast pick parts reminded me of my Dad playing the mandolin; most he made himself along with numerous guitars, and a fretless bass for my brother.
Dad has been gone four years, the brother that played the bass has been gone over nine years; so thanks again for the good memories.
Charles - truly you are a magician or a wizard or both - the backing track , the strap , the brilliant Arab phrasing , when I close my eyes , the sound takes me all over the world . The size of the instrument is irrelevant to the size of the sound - you can make a toy sound as big as the world - brilliant stuff !! Genuine creativity - thank you 🙏👏👏👏👏👏
How in the heck did charles manage to fit his hands on that fretboard 😂
And on a Hoffner Bass at that! Charles can turn anything into metal at this point haha. Cheers
A lefty mini-Hoffner at that!
It's not the size of your bass that counts, but how you shred it. You are a master of all sizes and shapes, keep blowing us away with that renegade stuff!
if i could play with my small thing that well id never leave the house
This is crazy. that $1 guitar sounds better than it has any right to. also your ability to fret the notes is impressive as heck.
This sounds like a combination of dark funeral, disturbed, and Testament. Which is to say absolutely f*cking wicked.
Just the fact that it actually is possible to play such a Smurf-sized bass is flabbergasting to me, actually playing it right is phenomenal in my book. Playing heavy metal on it for real sounded like some legend out of a crackhead until I saw this.... and I'm still questioning what I saw and hear.
Micro-piccolo piccolo bass that only Charles can play, which makes Charles the Micro Maestro! 🎸🎩
You know you've defined a new peak level of skill when you can absolutely shred on a bass barely bigger than your hand.
Totally awesome. Gives the feeling of riding on a sandstorm
Kinda has an unhinged intro to a new Mad Max baddie lol
Good sound from that Hofner "violin ignition" bass guitar (Beatles Paul McCartney's well-knowed bass model).
This sounds like a Dream Theater tune - more metal tunes please!! This is amazing
lol yea like the Home outro kind of.
Too much blastbeat for that. Maybe a LaBrie solo track.
@@counterfit5 they had blast beats in the song ''Nightmare to remember'' that might actually be the only dream theater song with the blastbeats
This is the first video I've seen where he doesn't slap or tap, but it's still amazing playing.
The main riff is super catchy, well done
Please I'm begging you make a whole album with just this little guitar and heavy metal I would so rock out to it
After seeing you do all this crazy stuff on bass I'm now more amazed than ever before 😂
What's next? Anything with strings or perhaps just one string? Metal on a Tampon? Lol, awesome as always!
This is what is called the Rob Scallon effect. Great job!
I have a 2/3 scale Shamisen and this is pretty much what it sounds like.
That looked like the hardest I've ever seen you concentrate while playing bass!
We need a full version (with proper bass) of that song ASAP!
Do you know what that song was? I'd list to add it to my playlist
@@Hawkm0th I don't, no. I'm assuming it's something Charles composed himself.
Вот это по нашему - играть на всём из чего только можно извлечь звук. 👍👍👍
Hilariously clever! Reminiscent of Cateen on a tiny piano 😅
I love this. It forced you out of your comfort zone, made you do something totally different and it sounds great!
Man you are amazing. Good for you. Congratulations. Great work
Sounds fantastic actually! Just don't windmill it or you might completely lose your head
You have managed, with one instrument, to make death metal sound italian
After seeing the stuff Charles does on a bass, I kind of believe it when he says he practices 40 hours a day.
Charles can socialize and play in the party at the same time. No problem.
It's really good. I'll love to hear this on a bigger bass
Not a meme, a masterpiece
You should play all the small thinks with it lol
0:22 I love how this is basically just Bouzouki (Greek guitar) Metal and I'm all for it!
Would it be proper to call this heavy, or light?
2:14 I love the Fender Kingman basses so much, but i've never encountered one on youtube. The mini bass stuff is pretty awesome too tho!
it sounds like one of those traditional japanese instruments, i forgot what its called. Really well played, I love it!
Also i feel like it could fit in my pocket lmao, pocket bass
I think a Koto?
Davie is gonna pull out a 36 string ultra mini bass in his next vid 🤣
A shamisen?
@@zeropolicy7456 thanks
Love the guitar string neckstrap lmao
You'd make INSANE heavy phonk with this
The strap just sells the whole thing. Now we need a band of full-sized musicians playing some metal on tiny instruments.
Being great needs no clickbait. 👍😎
Gotta love that "why is this working" face
The backing track is perfect!
This guy rlly turns anything into a funk rock type. U wouldn’t be surprised if he could do a full with opera. LETS DO IT CHARLES
Legend has it this is the very instrument The Beatles used to get the sitar sound on Norweigen Wood…
What? I mean.. how?..
This sounded WAY better than I expected, but how on earth did you manage on such a tiny fretboard??!
Sounds like various near & Far East string instruments were combined into 1 miniature body lmao.
I'm amazed at how:
-you manage to hold it in place while playing, I mean you even see it moving but you're still handling
-you manage to actually find the right frets while playing
-you don't break anything; even when I play on my classical guitar, when I start going Metal mode my plucking becomes pretty rough, I once tried a friend's ukulele and broke a string after 10 min
-you manage to keep composure, but for this one I guess intense focus helps :D
Hell yeah lol reminds me of Beni from Waggakiband and her shamisen solo on "homura". Can't believe you managed to remind me of her playing-- with THAT 😂👌
This may be the greatest shred video of all time 😂
Keeping the advertisements entertaining is the key. Thank you for the content!
I actually have one of these tiny bass models I got as a gift from years ago. *MINI BASS BATTLE GRUDGE MATCH* 🤣
🤣🤣How that thing didn't explode when you were ripping on it is beyond me🤣🤣 👍
2:00 “You might be wondering how I practice 40 hours a day!” 😂😂😂 Said with a straight face too!
No one: So i see you play bass...
Charles: A little...
Omg I LOVE the tiny strap! Absolutely amazing (like always)! I can't believe that you could nail those riffs on that thing.
I sense a theme ... first it was Barbie Girl, now the American Girl Doll sized bass 😅! Awesome!
I didn't catch anything from the advertisement after the video because I was shocked of how did you even do all of that. Talking, opening a bottle *with one hand* ,AND playing scales‽ Holy...
@_MRCHARLES_BERTHOUD... did you like our conversation?)))) XD
0:48 That is a beautiful harp you got there
I don't understand, how it's possible to actually play something with such a tiny frets?
Great job, as always! )
i could listen to that stuff on a loop how he so good man
Just when I gave up hope and stopped believing in goodness, you play the world's smallest bass. I see rainbows leading into your home!
Excellent video!!
How cute! He's playing a soprino viola da gamba like a guitar!!!
"40 hours a day" a man of culture I see
Was about to say the same thing. How inTereSTINg.
Honestly out of everything crazy you've done... this is by far the most unexpected!!! 🤣I love your stuff man! Also just an idea, you should do another bass challenge video. Those are always really entertaining and I would love to participate!
Woahhhhh.... Mind Blownnnnn.... Feels like I'm watching a dream. Next, I'd love to watch you play anything salsa on rubber bands on a fret board maybe... cos it really seems like Impossible is your nickname
I legit thought the meal said "actor" on it when you pulled it out of the fridge. Like it was supposed to signify the meal was not real, only an actor in the skit 😂
You must be given recognition for that commercial. How many people can play their scales while opening a bottle, or poking holes in a frozen meal... I half expected you to play while eating, but I realize you have to draw the line somewhere!
I honestly think Charles is the greatest modern musician. Sincerely.
Just amazing! And once again the ads are entertaining. Well done.
Yeeees, We definitely need more metal from Charles Berthoud
MINIATURE METAL !!! YEAAAAAHH !!! 🤘
I find it cute that he even used a nylon string as a strap for his mini bass, hahaha!
Lol the tiny strap 😂😂😂😂 you're awesome man
The sound fades a lot quicker so that simulated vibrato effect was really clever
That was actually sick. 🤘😎🤘
Finally an instrument for the people with small hands can play comfortably
The dental floss as strap was a nice touch😂
Really has that nice muted woody sound the Hofners are known for.
Really surprised at how good that little thing actually plays! What a jam! I was laughing at that "strap" from the beginning, then you said the 6 string short scale piccolo bass thing again 😂😂😂😂its my favorite. Really lisses off my 7-8 string playing friends.
@Charlesberthoud you gotta find a Dearmond/Fender Ashbory bass now!
Hands down favorite part is the "strap". 🤣🤣🤣
This is what guitars feel like to bassists
Isn't that the new Le Fay, Charles Berthoud Signature model? Niiice!
🤟🔥🎸🔥🤟
Imagining Charles adjusting an itty-bitty truss rod to get the optimum tone for this video 😂
the dental floss holding up the bass is hilarious
This has no right sounding this awesome but you pull it off and I love it
Can we appreciate how difficult it is to do such precise and ryhtmic picking on this tiny toy 😂
I also enjoy Charles' playful lightheartedness in this one. A possible warrior's relief around the campfire? I'm here for it 😎
INSANE! Cheers from Brazil.
It's not the size that matters, it's how you use it 😂
