Simply brilliant. 👏

That's awesome ♡
Same but a while back when I was teaching preschool! This instrument and his skills are truly amazing
This song translates to this instrument so well, and your presentation is beautiful. Roland would be proud.

I'm studying the dulcimer for my character in Dungeons and Dragons; I'm ASTONISHED by how elegant this sounds! As I type while in my session I'll probably stick around for more covers!~
That’s awesome. Thanks. A few of my kids play D&D and enjoy it very much.
Lugging a dulcimer on a D&D campaign sounds like a serious dedication to the craft.

Ted, 29th September, bleary eyed, siting in the hospital subway restaurant earing my breakfast after a long night bearing witness to my daughter entering the world. I was so tired and I saw this on my news feed, I was instantly awe struck, I must of visited this song on UA-cam at least a hundred times since, and it takes me back to that time and moment every play. I will show her this video for years to come and all I can say is keep the music coming. it is truly beautiful what you do.
This is so beautiful I hope your daughter is well!!

That’s my birthday. Congrats
How is it possible that over 400 people can dislike this video? Did they clean their ears out before listening? This is awesome, delightful, a joy - all of the above! Thankyou. ❤️
Thank you. 🙂
Welp, can't see 'em now!
They are probably used to music (I use the term in the loosest possible manner) that they can't actually HEAR, just feel the vibration through their body from the high volume and low frequency bass beat. When presented with something that their ears can actually hear, they don't know how to process it. Audiologists for years to come will rejoice and take their money !

Maybe it is the title. It isn't the most positive thing to hear.
What instrument do you play?
Oh, I'm a piano drummer
Considering pianos are technically a percussion instrument, that makes a ton of sense to call a dulcimer a piano drum
I just called a dulcimer a miniature Grand Piano (in essence, structure demands some eccentric tunings) so yeah... however you want to put it.
They're stunning beasts... percussive strings.

The instrumentation of the original tells us that true human art is becoming harder and harder to come by, this version sounds like a medieval battle that will decide the fate of everything is about to take place. I love both versions.
Just saw him in concert today and still couldn’t get enough of his dulcimer. Had to come here again. Such joyful music.
I almost forgot to listen to this today
I legitimately have listened to this almost every day since I discovered it about one week ago and I intend to keep going.
Coolest Dad award!
I love watching those mute shutter things go up and down. Its oddly satisfying.
It's like a piano and a guitar are coming out of the same instrument

I hope your family is in awe of how wonderfully gifted you are... and how special it is to be able to create music like this. I smiled through the whole song! Thank you! 🙏

*suddenly wants a dulcimer for Christmas*
Tremendous. It makes me wonder about all the other instruments I know nothing about.
The person who invented the dulcimer: So there I was, 30 pints later, hammering piano strings with sticks
The first time I heard this instrument was from a street performer. I recorded it and I listened to it whenever I wanted a relaxing sound. It took me a while to find the name of the instrument to be able to listen to it again properly. I wish I could thank that busker in Swansea, Wales, back in the year 2012 🙏 Thank you for this music in your channel!
You’re so welcome and thanks for the comment.
i keep coming back to this every once and a while, i like this version more than the official song, its so calming, great work.
First time I've seen a damper pedal on a hammered dulcimer. Nice! I have a beautiful one made for me by a man who had a company in Boone NC but I can't remember the name now because it's been well over 20 years ago, but it does not have the damper. I picked up the "hammers" having never played one and quickly learned Amazing Grace. When he saw this, He showed me his shop and showed me the different stages of construction. He realized I had an ear for music so he didn't tell me, but asked me to thump on the three resonant cavities inside. He somehow had them tuned to a major chord! We became instant friends. I bought the best one he had and have loved it, but now wish it had the dampers. You play well!
Thank you. That’s also quite a story. Love it. 😊
I don’t even know why but every time I watch this it brings a tear to my eye. Just sounds so beautiful and it’s so amazing to see somebody making music like that.
This is genuinely probably the most beautiful sounding instrument I've ever heard.
Ted I come back to this video every so often; your rendition sits comfortably in its own home in my mind. This video had such a nostalgic feel on first watch; and now it's formed its own.
I appreciate it. Thank you. Very kind.
When I close my eyes, I hear an upright, saloon style piano.
Those are called honkey tonk pianos if yiu wanna look em up
That instrument needs to be electrified, then you could do some amazing things with it.
NeonsStyle I'm sure there's an electric dulcimer somewhere
It's already an amazing sound. Acoustic instruments rock.
Needs no electricity. He's making it sing with it's natural sound and his talent.
We need to learn to just leave sh.. alone.
No need for electricity that is music in it's raw natural sound amazing.
I saw a beautiful dulcimer for sale in Victoria Australia made of fine woods of the globe including Aussie acacia for 850. It made me curious as to the price tag. You make it sound like one special instrument. Thankyou for being a unique human being and following your gift. Lovely sound!

Don't have much to say other than this is beautiful, thank you.
so its basically a mini portable grand piano. whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
Actually it’s a Hammered dulcimer
@mike sixx actually the Harpsichord came after the Dulcimer just so you know.
@mike sixx zithers are played by plucking this is a hammered Dulcimer. It is an ancient instrument that is the predecessor to pianos harpsichords and etc. It was brought to Europe by the moors. most instruments originate in either Africa or the middle east. Again this is a Hammered Dulcimer look it up!
@mike sixx You know nothing go google it you sound like an uneducated fool. I have researched the origins of musical instruments extensively before it even says in the description that he is playing a hammered Dulcimer. The dulcimer has been around since 900 AD why don't you ask google since you are so sure! also Europe did not invent music they were taught it read a history book!
This is also in the bio if you cared to look so I will paste it here since you do not know how to read! :"Critically acclaimed musician Ted Yoder is widely considered “the Bela Fleck of the hammered dulcimer." I met this family in Evart Michigan at the dulcimer festival last year. What a great family!
I made it a reality. We bought a MusicMakers kit to build a 17/16 and I am so happy I have natural musical ability. I'm picking it up quickly and am working on perfecting The Sound of Silence and a few Christmas songs. My cat, Oreo, is particularly fond of it and will often chortle happily while I"m playing. It took us a weekend to make - we started on Thursday night and were finished by Sunday afternooon. It took 4 hours to string and tune!!!! It's got a great sound! Ted is my inspiration!
Damn, beautiful. Gives me goosebumps just thinking about Swampletics. amazing work my man.
4 years ago my old platoon Sgt posted this on his page his name was Paul Slayton. He is no longer with us but everytime I revisit this song I think of him and how he was a great leader and just a good soul. A few years ago he succumbed to his PTSD and I wish I could have been there for him. But I thank Ted Yoder for this song as a portal to say hello to my friend. Rest In Peace Paul.
