    Critically acclaimed musician Ted Yoder is widely considered “the Bela Fleck of the hammered dulcimer." Ted is a National Hammered Dulcimer champion. He’s released five beloved and critically acclaimed solo albums, and become a master educator of the instrument.
    Ted has been profiled in the Kearney Hub, Huffington Post, and on NPR’s All Things Considered show, among many other features, profiles, and reviews in regional and
    national tastemaking outlets. On Wednesday, August 24, 2016, Ted became something of a household name when a Facebook Live video of him from his Live From The Orchard series playing Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” went viral. The video rocketed up to 53 million views in four days

    First time I've seen a damper pedal on a hammered dulcimer. Nice! I have a beautiful one made for me by a man who had a company in Boone NC but I can't remember the name now because it's been well over 20 years ago, but it does not have the damper. I picked up the "hammers" having never played one and quickly learned Amazing Grace. When he saw this, He showed me his shop and showed me the different stages of construction. He realized I had an ear for music so he didn't tell me, but asked me to thump on the three resonant cavities inside. He somehow had them tuned to a major chord! We became instant friends. I bought the best one he had and have loved it, but now wish it had the dampers. You play well!

    • @marcusford690
      @marcusford690 5 років тому

      @mike sixx actually the Harpsichord came after the Dulcimer just so you know.

    • @marcusford690
      @marcusford690 5 років тому

      @mike sixx zithers are played by plucking this is a hammered Dulcimer. It is an ancient instrument that is the predecessor to pianos harpsichords and etc. It was brought to Europe by the moors. most instruments originate in either Africa or the middle east. Again this is a Hammered Dulcimer look it up!

    • @marcusford690
      @marcusford690 5 років тому

      @mike sixx You know nothing go google it you sound like an uneducated fool. I have researched the origins of musical instruments extensively before it even says in the description that he is playing a hammered Dulcimer. The dulcimer has been around since 900 AD why don't you ask google since you are so sure! also Europe did not invent music they were taught it read a history book!

    • @marcusford690
      @marcusford690 5 років тому

      This is also in the bio if you cared to look so I will paste it here since you do not know how to read! :"Critically acclaimed musician Ted Yoder is widely considered “the Bela Fleck of the hammered dulcimer." Ted is a National Hammered Dulcimer champion.
The video rocketed up to 53 million views in four days."

    I made it a reality. We bought a MusicMakers kit to build a 17/16 and I am so happy I have natural musical ability. I'm picking it up quickly and am working on perfecting The Sound of Silence and a few Christmas songs. My cat, Oreo, is particularly fond of it and will often chortle happily while I"m playing. It took us a weekend to make - we started on Thursday night and were finished by Sunday afternooon. It took 4 hours to string and tune!!!! It's got a great sound! Ted is my inspiration!

He is no longer with us but everytime I revisit this song I think of him and how he was a great leader and just a good soul.
