As an American, I first encountered Frankie Howerd in the 1978 'Sgt. Pepper' movie when I was 12 years old. I was of the wrong age and from the wrong country to appreciate him . . . when he was in the wrong movie! I'm older and more worldly now, and thank God for UA-cam to allow me to enjoy what my British cousins have valued for so many years! :-)
Frankie Howerd, the greatest standup in the English language, popular to the end of a 60 year career, idolized by the students of Oxford & Cambridge. RIP Francis, there will never be another.
Pay homage to the greatest stand up comedian that ever lived - loved by all from six years of age to ninety-six no one did it like Sir Francis. Never forgotten.
I remember watching Frnkie in "Up Pmpeii" and "Whoops Bagdad" while serving military duty at RAF Chicksands. Love all the innuendos and Frakie's asides that break down the fourth wall.
I loved Frankie I heard that his manager back in the 60s wanted to cover up the fact he was gay? Even my Granny knew he was gay we all did! No one gave a shit he was gay he was just funny!
Hannible100 unfortunately the bbc wouldn't be so understanding. When are you being served was being pitched to the bbc they said "we'll do it but get rid pf the poof" it could be career destroying but he could have come out in the late 80s.
Sadly, the public wouldn't have given a damn, but the tabloids of the day would have crucified him. His agent, on a number of occasions, had to beg and bribe newspaper editors to keep the 'outing' out of the headlines. I'll always be a Frankie-fan!!!!
Sadly enough I still belong to a world where I watch a clip of classic comedy to enjoy the laughter, not to degrade it by turning it into an excuse for complaining about metro. For the record, I support the MeToo movement, and I'm still reduced to tears of laughter every time I watch this or a Mel Brooks movie
We take our selves way to seriously now. I don't know about over there in the Uk but when I was there it was a different time. I ran into many girls like that on my rounds when I was there. I loved it.
@@rogeredwarrddeshon5000 theres nothing wrong with a bit of tittle its better than watching all these boring US elections. I can tell you that. I just got harder now...

Yes but they defended Jimmy Savile probably the post vile bastard ever to have lived Lydia.
@@hannible1002 because he hid under the guise of doing good but he was evil...And he had his hands on millions in charity .. who else did ....guess
We in America had a gay comedian who was similarly funny, a guy named Paul Lynde. If he and Frankie Howerd never worked together, they should have.

That world is all gone now. Who would dare give in to temptations like this? He would find himself in court for harrassment!!
Yes. You can just imagine the metoo harridans crying and moaning.

Disgraceful.
You prudish idiot !!! It's only a bit of fun..
Build yourself a bridge and get over it. What is wrong with people who find sexual attraction bothersome.
