    Have you hit a wall on carnivore? Has the scale stopped moving for a few weeks and you don't know why? In this video, I will go through 11 tips that have worked well for me in my over one year carnivore journey. Going from the most obvious and easy tweaks all the way to things that may not be as obvious, this video may be exactly what you need to get over the hump and get that scale moving again.
    Protein Powder Recommendations:
    When looking at a label, try to avoid any kind of vegetable seed oils and dextrose or other forms of sugar like corn syrup. I also avoid flavors and artificial sweeteners when on carnivore. I also exclude sunflower lecithin. Here are some good examples of protein powders I would use:
    Naked Nutrition Whey: amzn.to/47vdGJf
    Naked Goat Whey: amzn.to/3HjIVfz
    Bulk Supplements Beef Protein Isolate: amzn.to/47FQBn4

      Well said! I have been on the carnivore diet for about 8 months now. Dropped 42 lbs in the first six months. Then i hit a plateau. My goal is 40 lbs more. I found that no sugars or substitutes of any kind, no alcohol even if it does not contain carbs and exercise. I try to walk 30 minutes per day. It is slowly paying off. Like you said, i didnt gain all this in a year.

      I’m slowly melting I can’t see weight loss but I can see I’m shrinking. I can’t eat carbs without nearly half a stone going back on! Protein n fat fills me like no other I feel full definitely whereas before carbs never told me I was full. But in carnivore you know eat when you hungry and your body knows when full. Novel after all my years to know satiety without a scale and calorie counting!! Wonderful!

      That's funny I said the same thing in the beginning but after months of the scale not moving and my instinctive brain kicked in (the same one that said give up the dairy when I was trying keto, but I didn't listen) I finally let go of the cream and the cheese. And Incorporated more butter and egg yolks into my diet and the scale started moving again. Now I do buy a brick of cheddar cheese and we'll have one or two slices (small slices) every once in a while but in general overall I avoid the cheese and I completely cut out the whipping cream

    When I first started Carnivore, I did the "eating until comfortably stuffed", for 4 weeks, stayed off the scale and then weighed in after that, and I had gained 17 lbs. I cant eat that way, I will over eat like crazy. I have to track my daily intake and stay in a deficit.

    • @JennyMitich

      For some people that is true!

    • @benvowels5316
      @benvowels5316 4 місяці тому +4

      @Klaymour28 This is so true. I also followed the advice to eat until comfortably stuffed/no limits and when I started counting calories in addition to strict carnivore, I discovered I was eating over 5000 calories per day. It wasn’t gonna happen on that many, so I do carnivore AND count calories and it’s making weight loss a BREEZE!

    • @Hemlock66
      @Hemlock66 4 місяці тому +2

      Thank you for writing about this! I also gained around 20 lbs on carnivore. I haven't gone back since and am now struggling to lose the 20lbs. Low carb, moderate fat, and high protein seem to work best for me. But yes, counting calories isn't mentioned by all carnivore experts.

    • @VV-dz5hk
      @VV-dz5hk 4 місяці тому +1

      That is because "normal" diet messes up our our hormones and unbalances everything. I had to slowly educate myself by tracking calories for a couple of months, just to learn the basics. Then your body regulates itself: when you're hungry, when you've had enough, whether you need more of this or that...

    • @sidneybuckaloo
      @sidneybuckaloo 2 місяці тому +1

      I was the same way. I could easily throw back 3lbs of ribeye a day with some eggs. I’m a 5’7 female. That’s a huge amount of calories and macros and I gained 7lbs in 2 weeks. I had to take my fat/protein ratio from 80/20 to 70/30. Losing weight is happening much easier now and I’m eating around 1700-1750 calories.

    I'm glad you finished off the video talking about why weight should not be the issue. Carnivore is not a weight loss diet, it's a body composition enhancement lifestyle. How do you know what your ideal target weight is? I see more and more influencers who are so scared of weight gain, and they adjust their food intake and fasting to try so hard to maintain their goal weight. Your waist to height ratio is a better indcator than body weight. Your body will need to build muscle mass and bone density, along with a long process of autophagy - it's not just about fat loss. One last point on dairy. If you are taking protein powders on carnivore then they are either whey protein, which will spike insulin through the roof and promote fat storage, or they are casein based. You can't say no dairy and at the same time use protein powders to increase your protein intake. I had no problem with dairy, but I did with the protein powders.

    • @JennyMitich
      @JennyMitich  4 місяці тому +5

      Great points! I 100% agree with you. My “ideal weight” is 130, but I’m not married to that number. My body is going to settle wherever it settles and I’m ok with that. The metabolic health improvements are why I’m staying on carnivore, there is just no other WOE that makes me feel as good 👍🏻
      I personally don’t use protein powder 😀

    • @LucidAmethyst
      @LucidAmethyst 4 місяці тому +4

      @@JennyMitich One piece of advice. 130 is not your ideal weight, it's a meaningless number and almost certainly incorrect. Your ideal weight is what your body decides - just eat an ancestrally appropriate diet, eat until you are full and let your body deal with the rest. If you do that, you can't over eat. One of the amazing things about carnivore, is once your body has had enough, it makes food taste sour. That's when you stop eating and you then don't eat again until you are hungry. There are only 24 hours in a day, and you are asleep for 8 of those. Too many people are focused on the scales, when they don't need to be if they are eating a 50/50 ratio of fat to protein. Organs, eggs, meat, fish and dairy are the top 5 most nutrient dense foods that will build muscle, bone and connective tissue at the expense of adipose tissue. Everything about the human body is balance and it's the most capable machine for maintaining that balance, but you have to trust it.

    I'm about 6 months in, and dairy definitely slows down weight loss.
    I now believe that if you have more than 30 lbs to lose, eating less fat will help lose that weight faster, because your body has to consume the dietary fat BEFORE it can metabolize the excess body fat.
    Eating tons of fat before you are near your ideal weight will stall your weight loss, I believe.

      Hello! And yes, I totally agree with you. Third shift is horrible for health unfortunately. Add stress into that and your body is going to be holding on to all of its adipose tissue because it assumes you are in crisis mode. Now, I recognize that you can’t just quit your job and go to first shift, that’s not realistic. There are ways that you can mitigate this. Working on the stress, exercise, and consistent bedtime can be helpful👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Cutting out dairy totally work for me. The problem is it was just as hard as cutting. Everything out the first time! That stuff is crazy, addictive, for me, it was like sugar.
    Also, just a small critique, you started your video with an ad for electrolytes that feature artificial sweeteners and then your second piece of advice was to cut out artificial sweeteners. It seems like your sponsor doesn’t really align with your values.

      Thank you so much! Cravings will go down as you continue on carnivore. I think in the beginning, just make sure you are eating until you are comfortably stuffed at every meal, and that will help take care of most of your cravings for snacks. But, if it continues, just make sure you’re eating a carnivore snack. The longer you go without having sugar the easier it’s going to be for you👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Thank you! I found you when I needed you the most..... into month #4, loving it, I feel way better, down 20+ lbs, usual pains are leaving, but I'm plateauing right now for 2ish weeks. Addicted to Gatorade Zero, heavy cream in my coffee, and I think my eating needs more discipline on when and how much. I exercise with pickle ball, walking & bicycling, and slow that down as my body tells me to. Moving forward, my plan today is cut gatorade, H-cream and start to eat 10am-3:30pm, only 2 meals, and increase protein. Fat numbers are good, protein is light, I'm not really snacking, but a beer here and there, and late evening eating is "Old Joe pattern", breaking that has been the challenge.... thanks for your insight, I feel these changes are easy, just not routine yet, I just needed you to remind me.... ;) I think it's going to help me. - Thank you!.

      Hello! I think I replied to one of your other comments, but I think you should take a look at your protein intake. I know that sounds counterintuitive because you’re only eating meat but if you’re focusing on high fat, you may not be getting enough protein. I ran into this problem around month four and I increased my protein to 130 g per day minimum and I felt better within a couple of days. I recommend getting at least one gram of protein per pound of ideal bodyweight. So if your ideal weight is 150 pounds, aim for 150 g of protein. See if that does the trick👍🏻

    Although your points are bang on…I do disagree a weeeee bit on a few of them. The two that stand out to me is the exercise and training with weights and the scale. The weightlifting is super important and the scale can be very important to some. Walking is ok but if someone wants to exercise weight training is the master above all else in so many ways. It strengthens your bones, your joints, it strengthens your soft tissue…cartilage and tendons for example, it burns off fat, it builds strength and muscle, it’s great for your brain, it develops cardio…I can go on and on. Walking or running doesn’t do most of these. However…if anyone is hitting the gym as as you say…hummmm….that’s fanatical, unnecessary and a time waster unless you’re a serious body or powerlifter. Losing weight is all about burning off more calories than you take in. It’s that simple. If someone wants exercise (which is PERFECT!) the best way to do this is 3 or 4 times a week lifting weights for 45 to 60 minutes MAX! You don’t dinker or screw around…gawking or chatting or playing on your phone…you WORK! The other days do the walk or jog. Even better twice a week do Interval running. It is absolutely the best and takes only about 20 minutes. There is need for 60 or 90 minute or 10k walks unless for piece of mind or vitamin D. Along with the carnivore diet this will keep your body strong, healthy, straight, fit and beautiful. Furthermore, there is no age limit on when to start. In fact, weight lifting becomes even more important as you age into your 50’s, 60’s or even 70’s! I will be 69 this summer and I recently did 3 repetitions of deep squats with 250 lbs! My goal is at least 1 repetition of 300 for my 70th birthday! As time goes by your body will love you more and more! CARNIVORE ON FOLKS!

    How or where can I learn what my daily calories, grams of protein,fat, and carbs should be for weight loss on carnivore ?
    Please help TIA

    • @georgemoonman2830
      @georgemoonman2830 4 місяці тому +2

      A good rule of thumb is 1g of protein per pound of body weight (or a bit more if trying to gain muscle) and then 1g of fat per 1g of protein. Carbs should be as low as possible for weight loss so avoid milk and stick to a little heavy cream, cheese, etc. (use as a condiment rather than as a main thing to eat).
      Calories are nonsense so you can ignore them - the packet is allowed to be 20% wrong plus you have no real way of tracking your actual expenditure and if you eat less calories your body can adapt by burning less calories, so hitting your protein aim and trying not to go overboard on dairy is the best I've found. Counting calories doesn't help anything. If you're sticking to strict carnivore and feeling hungry then eat as your body obviously needs it! I do this and then some days I don't feel hungry at all so don't eat anything.

    • @JennyMitich
      @JennyMitich  4 місяці тому +1

      I 100% agree with the commenter GeorgeMoonman2830 below, it’s going to be highly individualized. That’s why I like to start with the 70% fat to 30% protein ratio for beginners, because that can be something to aim for. You may find that you work better with more protein or less protein, but you will figure that out. In the beginning, don’t worry too much about it. Just eat carnivore foods until you are comfortably stuffed and then don’t eat again until you are truly hungry. If you get that skill down early, that’s going to set you up for success down the road.

      Hello! You could try to incorporate a 24 to 36 hour fast once a week and see if that helps move the scale on the right direction. Or maybe play around with your meal timing.

    So I have been doing carnivore diet for about a month and a half so far. Starting off i was seeing great results. Lost about 10lbs but now i have reached a plateau. Im 38 yo, 5'11 235lbs currently. I eat about a pound and a half of red meat/ground beef and 6-7 eggs a day and cook with butter. I eat only once a day in the evenings after i get home from work. I weightlift 5 days a week and do 45-60 minutes of low intensity cardio on off days. On top of that at my job i usually get about 6k-10k steps monday-friday. Am I gaining muscle now? Why has my weight loss stopped?

    • @JennyMitich
      @JennyMitich  2 місяці тому +1

      Hello! Its not a plateau until you stay the same weight for months. I think you may be gaining muscle while losing fat. Sometimes there will be weeks where you lose nothing. I have basically been the same weigh this entire month

    I'm positive... dairy is my issue...I added cheese products back in a about 3 weeks ago and I've gained 3 pounds and won't come off 😢! I'm going back to only ghee and butter and NOTHING else.... Maybe a dollop of heavy cream in my coffee in the morning!
    I've also realized I need way more magnesium ❤❤❤❤!

    Dairy: High quality, raw dairy doesn't have this affect. It's generally the high percentage of casein and the lack of lactase in pasteurized dairy that is problematic. Also, raw butter is a miracle food.
    Detox: too little emphasis is placed on the fact that carnivore kick starts all sorts of detox processes. Most people who have been living a standard western lifestyle are full of all sorts of toxins, mineral imbalances and nutritive imbalances. At some point the detox will kick in and you might stop losing weight. The one thing you can do here that is simple is to drink very clean water, and a lot of it. Also heat stress is excellent ( hot baths, sauna ). If you want to address this more aggressively, there are functional medicine practitioners that can get you a comprehensive hair mineral test, which will give them an idea of your tissue saturation, and they can give you a supplement protocol to kick start those imbalances back into balance. Yes, you can have deficiencies in carnivore because of long term damage your body has accumulated. Those deficiencies will go away over the long haul anyway...however that can take many years ( one practitioner is still purging her body of excess oxalates after 8 years ). Doing it this way can offer rapid correction for some things, and genuine correction for others. ( some toxins simply will not detox without specific protocols ).

      Hello! I just use MyFitnessPal and put all of the food into the food diary, and it will tell you your ratios. You don’t have to be super militant about it in the beginning, just eating carnivore foods and getting used to the way of eating is the most important thing in the beginning. You can start to make adjustments to your fat and protein ratios when you’re further along.
