Due to copyright spammers (who are not even affiliated with the documentary), I unfortunately had to cut out the segment of Sound of Torture - otherwise, this whole video was going to be taken down. The unedited version is still on Patreon.

I was just watching “Children Underground” recently, I haven’t finished it yet. I was not surprised but still shocked at how eerily and tragically adult the children are in their behaviour, language and demeanour, especially the younger ones. For most of them their lives sadly don’t seem to have improved very much as adults. There’s also a similar exposé documentary from 2007 called “Bulgaria’s Abandoned Children”, I first saw it in 2015 and I was shocked at the conditions those kids were growing up in.

The last time I saw Troy Boner was at the 1999 renaissance faire in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
I’m originally from Omaha, but I’d moved to Lincoln about 8 months before, and ended up working at Ren-faire with some SCA friends. Troy was friends with some of the same people, and he stayed at our camp that weekend. I knew I had met him before, but I couldn’t figure out where until that night when everyone was sitting around the campfire drinking. I overheard Troy say that he was hiding out from the cops “over that old boys town thing” and that’s when it all clicked, I met him at boys town when I was 12, I think he was like 16, and a bunch of us smoked out on the roof. That was the first time I ever got high, but damn sure wasn’t the last. I don’t blame him for all that shit though, he was just as naive as the rest of us.

It's this image of the little girl laying down on the lawn to sleep and her brother laying down next to her to comfort, reassure and protect her as always.
Which at that moment only showed me a picture of 2 lost children, but 2 siblings,
who give each other real trust and real love under such cruel conditions.. It was just this picture.. "A love letter from a young mother to her daughter, the film tells the story of Waad al-Kateab’s life through five years of the uprising in Aleppo, Syria as she falls in love, gets married and gives birth to Sama, all while cataclysmic conflict rises around her. "

I’ve seen people who got numb and even twisted as they stay in the system, rarely do they believe what got them into doing what they are doing in the first place, they age and get numb and simply doing their job because it pays for their lifestyle…. In another word, they’ve lost their passion, they have exposed to maybe too much cruelty than they can handle and they break down…

I was like in 4th grade when it was aired on tv. I watched it with my dad.
I didnt understand exactly what was going on obviously. But I do remember the scenes of the kids huffing the paint.
I always tried to remember what the documentary was as I got older but I could never find it.
