3 - Brazil doesn't have life sentences like the US, at the time of these incidents, the maximum amount of time anyone could stay in jail was about 30 years, since 2021 it's 40 years, and if he stayed in jail, because of his age, it could be a life sentence, but because of his wealth and polítical connections he will most likely remain in house arrest for his life

João is a monster and when the things he was accused began to appear, there were so many, one after the other, that we began to doubt their veracity. But it was all true. Even organized crime has already sworn him to death and if he ever comes out in the open again, he won't last long.

For a more wholesome case, there's Ze Arigo who was also from the region. He was said to have channeled the spirit of a doctor who died during WWI in order to write prescriptions and perform surgeries. I only partially know the story through an old Reader's Digest compilation known as "Mysteries of the Unexplained" given to me by my late great grandmother. The book itself has lots of stories I've never seen covered on the internet, most of them short, but they'd make for great follow-ups since it was written 30-40 years ago and with the advancements in science I reckon quite a few of the stories are now explainable.
