10 skills: "He who sweats more in training, bleeds less in war. " A huge amount of information will be thrown at you. Start to learn it asap! 1. Design Boards. A collection of images put together. Design direction: color, palette, theme, vibe, mood you want to create. Mood boards, concept boards, furniture boards, material boards. 2. Composition (primarily used in arts field, such as music, photography, painting, writing). Good composition includes a balance and variety in shapes, colors, and materials to create a pleasing environment. Principles and elements of design. Other disciplines of arts. 3. Communication. Interior design presentations. Job opportunities and design businesses. 4. Softwares. Sketchup (2D & 3D) + AutoCAD 5. Terminology. Interior design vocabulary. eg. Window treatment, upholstery, wainstcotting, hue, shingles, lumen, layered, faux, facade, CRI, sheen, clerestory, siding, trim, hue, focal point, vessel sink, vaulted, lever, niche, etc. 6. Drawing and sketching. Before digitalize it. Turn your abstract ideas into the fine concepts. Don't need to be a perfect drawer. Making your point through rough sketch. 7. Seven elements of design. Space, light, texture, line, pattern, color, and form. (Link in below) 8. Principles of design. Balance, unity, rhythm, emphasis, contrast, scale and proportion, harmony. (Link in below) 9. Standard measurements. Every single measurement inside public and private spaces. Widths, heights, depths, sizes of everything. Memorize them and know it by heart. Make the process faster. Bring a measuring tape and measure every single thing you see. 10. Materials. Not all design programs will teach the in-depth of construction materials. Not the foundation concrete in your world, but the materials that interior designers will choose to design spaces. Counter material, floor material, fabrics of chairs. Suitable for that application. eg. Marbles. A soft stone can chip and stain very easily.
Good timing. Tomorrow will be my entrance exam as an interior design. Wish me luck. I am one of those you've mentioned about having no idea entering this school on what to do. Thank you Lord for bring me here in this video. Thank you also, the creator. It helps me to learn the tips about interior design.

Btw you currently live in Canada right, so like how are the job opportunities over there, really wanted to know and also which university you had gone for during your school/college years. Hope you reply to this.💗
Hi there, I am happy that you like the content! Yes, there are good job opportunities for designers, the school you attend also plays a role, most employers are looking for people who studied at CIDA accredited institutions, here in Vancouver there are two as far as I know: BCIT and Kwantlen, hope that helps ✨

Andrea, how many years would you say one needs to become a self-employed designer working only on the projects they really love starting from zero? Thanks
Well, that’s hard to answer but to gain enough experiences on the field I would say 4-5 years are what you need. Also depends on how many projects you work on, the more you work the better and the more knowledge you will gain to become self-employed.
i’m planning on going the interior design field when i go to college in 2025, do you have suggestions of the best state to study and eventually work in?
Which book we should prefer before taking interior designer course. I am in 11std with commerce stream so with my study of 11th with other books I should prefer
Well I know this question is weird but I still want to know the answer 😅😅😅 I hope you don't mind! Since interior design is a course that teaches both theory and terminology alot l, does it mean that the course will have a lot of paper exam instead of just having to do project essay and report?
Hi there! I did have tests for theory yes :( specially when you are just starting and learning about history of design, design theory, colour theory, etc. But normally later in the program you will have more projects and less exams (at least that was my case when I was in school) hope that helps :)
@@aandreatru Thank you so much for responding. If it possible can you please make a video about giving tip of how we should review for exam and what we should know best?

That’s wonderful, you’re so young and already have passion! Don’t be afraid to start learning, I also didn’t know how to draw at 14, in fact I was terrible, and slowly over the years I have learned, no one is born knowing
Yes, some universities have a Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design and after you can continue into a Masters in architecture which would take around two years to complete. However, not all universities have this option.
Hey!! I'm rn a plustwo student and I'm really confused about selecting my major I wanna study design but not sure if that's graphic design, interior design,ui/ux design.which is good among this.. and which has more opportunities..and which is the best college for design etc..can anyone who has majored in design speak about this👀
I can’t tell about graphic or ui/ux design cause I am not very familiar with those careers but interior design has opportunities depending in the country that you live, here in Canada there are good opportunities while in my hometown (Mexico) there weren’t as many. If you are looking for good colleges, there is many, you just want to make sure that they are CIDA accredited, not all schools are and this accreditation ensures that the program is up to date with industry standards. Hope that helps✨
Sketchup? Really? I'm using Sketchup now because it's free and I'm broke, but it's a pig of a program to work with! It doesn't tell you your coordinates except at the origin, all its lines and planes automatically engage with each other and different layers can't use the same plane unless you create separate objects, and the colours change drastically and very unrealistically when you change camera angle. How is this the best software you can find?
