Yes it is tough! I work full time and study interior design full time. It is mad hard!! You definitely need passion in this field, I won’t change it for anything though. Can’t wait to change my career next year!
Oh god It is so scary I am at vocational collage for interior design and I am scared of the future and it is much work that is so true but at least I am enjoying so far.
Im watching this video for the second time, and although i understand everything ure saying about taking it easy and managing time, im really scared about starting interior design school next year. Did u use to feel like uve lost urself and that ure not living ur life most of time? Apart from burning out
I really like interior design and looks interesting to me rather than sitting behind the same computer and do the same thing daily, the only thing is that i am now in a grade where we don’t have exams or tests and math so idk if I will be able to do it :/
I made a video explaining what type of math designers need for the career, you can check here: ua-cam.com/video/wPBwgOL2adI/v-deo.htmlsi=oN6onstRgT2PeUMo
I have a fashion design associate degree and I’m thinking of transitioning to interior design by getting an “interior design certificate”. Do you think it’s enough to get a job? with a livable wage?
You want to apply for companies that are looking for Junior Interior designers, they will ask for a resume and an interior design portfolio. Normally you need previous education and/or experience in the field to get this type of jobs, however many entry level job level positions focus for on education and portfolio and they do not expect much experience from the applicant
Without formal education, your best best would be to become an interior decorator (for this you don’t need schooling), self learning can also help you to understand the basics of the industry before applying for jobs. Most companies would still want to see a portfolio of your design-related work, so in a nutshell it can be more difficult to get a job as a designer, some people have been lucky enough to get jobs but I have to say it can be challenging.
That depends on the country, but in North America where I live, it ranges between 40,000 to 70,000 dollars. Experienced designers or business owners may be earning more than that, hope that helps.
Love that you’re talking about this!! I’m right in the middle of my program and I’m starting to feel burnt out too
Yes it’s common to feel the burn out, but keep going and try to enjoy it ✨ cheers
