I think according to the official canon, Sophitia fought Cervantes and shattered one of the Soul Edges but was badly wounded by the shrapnel. Then Taki showed up, finished Cervantes off, and took Sophitia to get medical attention. Then, Siegfried showed up, tried to take the remaining Soul Edge, the sword came to life as the Soul Edge character, Siegfried fought and killed it, and the Soul Edge sword. He unfortunately didn't know that doing so would turn him into Knightmare...

He finally managed to come across the legendary weapon Soul Edge, lying beside the defeated corpse of the dead pirate Cervantes. But as he reached for it, the corpse lit up in a hellish blaze of fire and attacked him. Siegfried raised his zweihänder and defeated the fiery inferno, breaking his sword in the process, earning the right to wield the Soul Edge for himself.
And when he grabbed that bitch he turned into a soul harvesting machine for half a decade convinced by the sword he could revive his father with enough souls

@@axinhedgelion8417 That's actually accurate. The profiles from Soul Calibur 1 confirm it to be true! And like Keihedgie1747 said, Soul Blade's canon events haven't been altered.

HOLY- We're covering SoulEdge/Blade now? Dope. I'm the majority kind that started with Soulcalibur 2...not the one with link in it, the PS2 version.
Side note: Both Nightmare and Devil Kazuya were costumes in their respective first game, but became an individual character the next.

I was born in 1997, and my dad had the Dreamcast when I was a child, so I grew up with Soul Calibur 1 first. I've followed the series and have been a fan ever since. I also played Soul Edge on the PS1, and my dad played the game before I was even born.

took until i was much older to realize seigfried from soul calibur is link from oot's voice actor, but in this game (which i never played as a kid) it is so clear haha. very nostalgic in that way.

You mostly look invincible when you dominate your opponent. Whether it's Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, TEKKEN and Soul Calibur or others, you definitely give people a run for their money. And for that, you have my respect.
These are tool assisted speedruns, meaning these aren't legit gameplays, and he uses save states and messes with emulators for perfect gameplay. You'd have to be almost inhuman to do so good legitly.
This was one of the first games I played during the pandemic, this game is sweet! Love this gameplay

Siegfried in Soul Edge is voiced by Nobuyuki Hiyama, who voice Link in Zelda. It's funny, since he voiced Link in Soul Calibur II.

And you gotta admit, when Siegfried or Voldo uses their Soul Edge, they are DANGEROUS OP. Those 2 are my top favorite characters and I love their 2p/alternate costumes the most. I also love Soul Edge, Li long and Taki.

Very cool! Is there any chance you'll do any Soul Calibur I TAS? I love Astaroth and Voldo's 2P costumes and Yoshimitsu's 1P costume in that game and would love to see videos with those costumes. My absolute favorites in the series, especially 2P Astaroth and 1P Yoshimitsu.
Dreamcast doesn't have a TAS Emulator, so I think SC2~3 is possible. 🤔🤔🤔

This is the only game in the series where you can lose your weapon, so not many people know about it. A similar mechanic is in the Samurai Shodown series

Yes, if you lose your sword energy by either block, using the Critical Edge combo or by doing that one attack used by either Cervantes or Soul Edge(Inferno was just call Soul Edge before he was named Inferno for the next game, which is Soul Calibur.)
