Then, Siegfried showed up, tried to take the remaining Soul Edge, the sword came to life as the Soul Edge character, Siegfried fought and killed it, and the Soul Edge sword. He unfortunately didn't know that doing so would turn him into Knightmare...
He finally managed to come across the legendary weapon Soul Edge, lying beside the defeated corpse of the dead pirate Cervantes. But as he reached for it, the corpse lit up in a hellish blaze of fire and attacked him. Siegfried raised his zweihänder and defeated the fiery inferno, breaking his sword in the process, earning the right to wield the Soul Edge for himself. And when he grabbed that bitch he turned into a soul harvesting machine for half a decade convinced by the sword he could revive his father with enough souls

Bushido Blade was another excellent Playstation 1 title with weapon based combat. It was a contemporary with soul blade I think? Amazing era of games. Nothing but hit after hit. Old school can't be beat. They got it perfect the first time! ;)
You mostly look invincible when you dominate your opponent. Whether it's Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, TEKKEN and Soul Calibur or others, you definitely give people a run for their money. And for that, you have my respect.
These are tool assisted speedruns, meaning these aren't legit gameplays, and he uses save states and messes with emulators for perfect gameplay. You'd have to be almost inhuman to do so good legitly.

This is the only game in the series where you can lose your weapon, so not many people know about it. A similar mechanic is in the Samurai Shodown series

Soul Blade is an entirely different beast! Even weirder is that soul blade was going to be a 2D game originally but the tech evolved at the time and they instead stopped production of soul blade 2D and started soul blade 3D. For their first game it had an insane amount of features and had re-releases with updates making it the behemoth title at the end of its lifespan in the console version.
Yes, if you lose your sword energy by either block, using the Critical Edge combo or by doing that one attack used by either Cervantes or Soul Edge(Inferno was just call Soul Edge before he was named Inferno for the next game, which is Soul Calibur.)

Dreamcast doesn't have a TAS Emulator, so I think SC2~3 is possible. 🤔🤔🤔
