    You could cut a slit in a pool noodle, place the utensils in the slit and use masking tape between each one to keep them held in place while your working on them. I love the abstract quality of the designs. These are beautiful.

    I see you struggling with the tape, and saw the pool noodle suggestions. But you could also use a second strip of wood across the bowl portion of the utensils, and use clamps on the sides. That way you would still have the weight of the board for stability, but they could be sandwiched between the boards and would be very stable. Just a thought.

      I was thinking the same thing! If you wanted to get really fancy, you could even take some non slip furniture pads, the rubber type, and create a little cushion for each utensil that would also have a little give for the unique shape of each. Then use a couple of adjustable toggle clamps on the end of your 2x4s…. That should give you a fairly sturdy, adjustable and easily flipped or positioned wherever you like, inside, outside…. Clamps are reusable if you need to replace the wood at some point for some reason… the rubber non slip pads are fairly cheap should they lose their memory after a while and not fill in the shapes….
      On that note, this is a great idea…. So cute… and you’re right… I could see these being a hot selling item… really cute!

    HELPFUL HINT BEAUTIFUL LADY:
    1. cut a pool noodle and attach that to the board with a slit. Tape it all the way around in between the spoons to keep them more secure and separated.
    2. Wrap the whole spoon area, this will take more time but less drip worries in the long run. After applying the resin, then set it up straight and let the left over just run straight down the wood and noodle because the spoon will be protected and just peel off after.
    3. I wouldnt put the paint all the way down the whole handle. Leave more space, at least and inch more for those wanting to use it to stir sauces. People will be worried about the resin getting into the food.

As for practicality , I dont see them lasting long from washing them . But beautiful for wall decor. I do paint dipping in water . Swirling in different colors of paint , then dipping my project in and out .Let air drip dry and add coat. Also, I do resin ink painting on woodworking decor . Just a little personal note I can share with you all.. my grandmother used to make so many things and she told e once when we were crafting together, that she had to use screen wire to make a lot of her crafts. Screen used to be made out of wire and she would take it apart to use the tiney wire. She lived to be 99 years old, born and raised and had a long life in High Springs, Florida.

    I always enjoy your videos and especially like this one! Your setup is very functional, and I'm glad I still have some wood. Did you use a 4×4? I viewed your products but didn't see the guage of wire you used... and I also couldn't find the UV resin you used. I would like to purchase it so you can get the commissions. I sure wish I hadn't sold my gel light... It's so fun finding uses for my art with miscellaneous items around the house! Have a blessed day! 🙌

      Argh! I forgot to add those links in the description! Thanks for the reminder! I used a 2x4 for this. I updated the description with the JDiction resin that I have upgraded to, as well as the new light I just bought. The wire I used in the video is a 22 gauge, but I have just bought a 20 gauge stainless steel wire that should work MUCH better. I have a link also for that. Have Fun!

    just an idea you can get a long clamp from lowe's or home depot and clamp them in a line, then they won't fall apart on you. And you won't need all that tape. 😃

    Hi love these! I never worked with resins. I understand to the point when you applied the resin, coated each utensil , checked for drips - then I’m lost! Do you need to use the up light to cure each one? How long ?
    Thanks I’m going to try them as gifts

    • @ACoastalMagnolia
      @ACoastalMagnolia  8 днів тому

      I used regular resin that cures over time, not UV. But you definitely can use UV resin!

    very cool. Quick question about using the spoons with the resin coat? Do you need to use a special non toxic resin coating, since the spoons will be used with food. TY for any feedback.

    Different next time - I would turn them over and do the bottom first so that you don't have to worry if they are dry when you turn them over to do the front - the board holds them up.

    These turned out nice. However, for anyone working with uncured resin, please use proper PPE. I've seen too many crafters become allergic to resin even after they've been using it for years.

    • @ACoastalMagnolia
      @ACoastalMagnolia  Місяць тому +2

      Very good point. I do encourage the proper ventilation if not using PPE. I do not use PPE personally, but I have an excellent working space. ❤️

    • @ACoastalMagnolia

      I used a regular resin for the top coat that did not need a curing light.
