Hi Dr. Dray...Thank you so much for clarifying your opinion on people who wear make up. I've been a subscriber to your channel for quite a while now and respect your educated opinions and expertise! I've learned a lot from you. In the past, I've felt your comments about wearing make up were a bit harsh and dismissive. I've suffered from acne all 50 some years of my life. Its been so bad at times, I couldn't bring myself to leave my house. People can be so insensitive, attributing acne to lack of cleanliness or just being mean. The mental part of this disease can be just as damaging as the disease itself. Wearing makeup has been a lifesaver for me! It helped me to hold my head high and live my life to the fullest. Thanks to you, I have created an inexpensive skin care regime which has dramatically improved my skin. Thank you SO MUCH for that!! Now I'm wearing much less makeup as a result. Have a great day and thanks again for the video. 😊
Miss Betty Not Really You have expressed my views perfectly. I no longer suffer with acne but do use makeup. Over years, with makeup, I have learned that less is more. The biggest and best lesson life taught me is any makeup, expensive or not, won’t look good on skin that isn’t cared for properly.

Getting ready by putting on skincare and then a little bit of makeup and picking out my outfit is always relaxing for me since it’s like alone time + self care time. I gave up foundation for tinted sunscreen and only use concealer from time to time but I like blush, bronzer, mascara, brow gel and highlighter. I’d rather just be conscious of ingredients than stop using it all together.
I know you don’t wear makeup, but I would love to see you review the ingredients of Bare Minerals original mineral powder sunscreen. They also have a couple tinted sunscreens. It’s the only thing I’ve been able to tolerate to cover up acne.
Two years ago when I started my skincare journey I also started to wear makeup more actively on a near-daily basis. For me personally, makeup has been an uplift on my self-esteem since I always have acne and never really feel good about my face. I always double cleanse my face tho every single time after I wear makeup and never skips my skincare routine. From my experience, I don't have any problem with makeup and my skincare routine still shows amazing results! Thank you for pointing out the self-esteem part, really appreciate it!
I used to watch those beauty guru videos and take their advice on what makeup to buy. Now I watch you, I'm wearing less makeup and feeling better in my skin than ever. At the rate my skin is improving from taking the advice in your videos, I think I won't feel the need to wear makeup at all soon. At least, that's the goal. Ironic but you have made me feel more beautiful and confident than any of those beauty gurus. You are very refreshing. Thank you for taking the time to upload.
Dr Dray, thank you for always being considerate and compassionate for your UA-cam "patients". I wish I could give up foundation...in just too self concious about my severe dark undereyes and discoloration around my nose/mouth. Thank you for helping those of us that are in this category.
L's Channel you’re not alone- I feel insecure about my own uneven skin tone, redness, big pores & old acne marks. But it’s nice hearing Dr. Dray being supportive to those of us who feel better when wearing complexion makeups 💗 I think part of the reason I wish I could get away from things like concealer & foundation is that I just really want to further simplify my daily routine! Can’t give up mascara & eyebrows though- my face looks “bald” without them! 😂
I never thought I had an issue with fragrance...until recently, when I started using more moisturizer. I noticed some were causing me to break out, and every time, it was the ones that contained fragrance.
Geslina M Same! I always watched these videos and thought fragrance didn’t affect me. Recently l also figured out fragrance was irritating my skin and causing breakouts

I needed this video. As someone who doesn't suffer from acne. I tried the hyped up L'Oréal Fresh Wear foundation and it broke me out horribly on my cheeks and jawline. Even though I did a patch test on my neck. After a month later of babying my face and only using 3 products for my skin care I'm almost back to normal.
I wish I can let of not using a light foundation. I did , however did a no foundation or I should call it “Dr Dray challenge “ on the whole month of July and wore no foundation at all and only mascara and sunscreen and let me tell you... I totally detoxed my skin. I also used a lot of things that you recommended and stopped using things that you thought were not good. My skin is so much better than before and NOT with the help of all these bogus expensive “luxury” skin care products but with just simple things from the drug store with good ingredients such as neutrogena hydro boost and Cerave SA cleanser. So thank you so much for always giving us great information. I love how towards the end you mentioned that you respect the individuals that do wear makeup and I love how u told us that you do watch makeup tutorials even though you don’t wear makeup yourself . Thank you always and please keep giving us and recommending us wonderful useful products!!!
Thanks for all your wonderful recommendations! I have changed my skin care routine and follow some of your advice. My skin looks and feels better. I stopped using make up almost 6 months ago and got very aggressive on applyingSPF and no fragrance on my skin. Appreciate your time and dedication you put on your UA-cam channel.
It’s like she knows what I need every single time I have a skin problem/question! I’ve been breaking out with eczema around the eyes because of my makeup, so this is perfect. You’re the best! Thank you so much!
Happy Monday Dr Dray and everyone ! This was wonderful and so helpful . I had acne for most of my life at 56 I still have large clogged pores and old acne marks . For years I always wore makeup to cover up and also as you said in your video it was fun and creative. A few years ago I went cruelty free after adopting my shelter puppy . I then went into organic makeup and really saw my skin get congested ,and red and really not looking great . I realize now that most had essential oils and different things that actually made my skin worse . I am so grateful I am now no longer wearing foundation and concealer ( i switched to the colorscience products ) I do wear eyeliner and mascara and lip color . I also switched to your skin care recommendations , and while I have a ways to go I am starting to see improvement !!!! I can't thank you enough !!!!!!
Really well balanced information and I love that u acknowledge that men use makeup too. Also my dog loves wearing mascara, I've tried to talk him out of it, but no luck so far.
As someone who’s had prior aggressive acne, makeup has helped my self esteem immensely in the past. Luckily, it’s all cleared up now, but I know exactly which ingredients will flare up a breakout and am extremely picky with my products. I use or wash new tools every day, i only use sponges, and when i use brushes, i tap it all in gently.. but I also wash my pillows cases every other day, my phone, etc (important for makeup wearers)! I neeeever sleep in my makeup either. But I will say, now that my skin is clear, I don’t feel the need to even wear it as much. Just sunscreen 😁
Thank you for your honesty and understanding that not all can afford expensive products for our skin to be healthy. I am very grateful for your honesty in skin care products and being an advocate that healthy skin can be achieved to everyone in society by making professional dermatological information accessible through your videos! You are a role model that Kindness is free!
Denatured alcohol and Ethylhexyl Palmitate are the two ingredients that make me break out almost instantly! I didn’t realize for years because I always had acne, but when I would use products with those after accutane that’s when something would pop up and it all made sense.
@@DrDrayzday Hi Dr. Dray! Have you heard the brand called Aesop? If so, could you please do some reviews about this skincare products? Thank you very much.
I rarely wear makeup anymore thanks to watching your videos. And when I do wear it I notice it causes texture on my cheeks. So it’s not worth the trouble to wear anymore. Great video!!
Happy Monday! If I didn't have such pronounced dark circles under my eyes, I could probably live without makeup. The image we project is so important today that we want to hide everything. I would never go out without trying to hide my dark circles. It's really a self-esteem problem. Very glad you pointed it out! Dermablend is an expensive product but the amount you have to use is so small that it lasts much longer than a simple makeup. I finally bought Hadalabo oil cleansing and Pond's fragrance-free on Yestyle. There was a very good special and I didn't hesitate. I've been waiting for this video for a long time. Thank you it is so much appreciated!
This makes so much sense now. I had the clearest skin in high school into my early 20s then, I started using CC cream and started getting acne. I didn't get it until I was a few months in, so, I didn't see the correlation there. Thank you Dr. Dray!
Your commitment to your viewers never cease to amaze me. Sometimes I catch myself thinking “how does she do it, with such a busy life?”. I remember the day you took your time to answer my question. That really made my day. Thank you so much for caring. Love from Orlando , FL ❤️
I'm envious, as my rosacea & related flares keep me tied to foundation. Fortunately, some of the recommendations from Dr. Dray such as azelaic acid, mandelic acid, & CeraVe Moisturizer have helped tremendously in lessening my flares/symptoms, so when my skin is having a good day, I'm able to wear lighter mineral makeup & feel OK. 😊👌🏻
Bella.Italiana.Fitness , I wish I can do away with everything except lipstick and mascara. However, my Italian olive skin tone makes me dark around the eyes and looks terrible without a brightening concealer and some light eye shadow. But I have been very conscious about using as little as possible.
I've had acne for twenty years, and it's only controlled now with Epiduo gel, birth control, and lots of moisturizing. As a teen I was definitely guilty of over-cleansing, not moisturizing enough, and applying makeup too aggressively with dirty brushes - it didn't cause my acne but didn't help it. I tried not wearing any makeup at all for a while in college and my acne only got worse. I went back to wearing it because it made me feel less gross and self-conscious. Epiduo really helped but did give me dry/combo skin. I'm glad I didn't have to try accutane. Things that break me out in cosmetics: any kind of chemical sunscreens, anything with a high amount of dimethicone (which is hard to avoid in moisturizing products), and fragrance.
Happy Monday, Dr. Dray! Could you please do a reaction video to Mixed Makeup’s reaction series of celebrities doing their skincare routine? Or maybe react to celebrities’ skincare routine on Harper’s BAZAAR in general! Love Susan Yara, but it would be nice to see a dermatologist’s POV
Awesome video. Thanks for recognizing that acne is a disease and understanding the impact it can have on self confidence and the need for makeup. I have had acne for the past 2 years since coming off birth control and it comes and goes. In the end I think it has made me stronger and made me love my skin more. I’ve started going makeup free more and really taking care of myself and my skin. Since watching your channel I’ve started using rosehip oil and a first aid beauty fragrance free facial moisturizer with really good ingredients as well as the avene spf. I love the way the spf makes my skin look and makes me feel confident enough to go out without makeup. Thanks for bringing awareness about skincare!! 💖
Also I am now off to clean my makeup brushes 🤣 and really appreciate the tip on application because sometimes I find myself beating my fkn face too lmao
Happy Monday Dr. Dray. You are truly a consummate professional with a heart. ❤️❤️. Thank you for giving those who suffer with acne and other skin diseases clarity in their daily struggles.
There are a lot of self proclaimed skincare gurus saying that the use of Beauty Blenders can worsen acne because they breed bacteria. Do you have any thoughts on this? Thanks!♥️
That's why only use makeup synthetic brushes and wash them with dishwashing liquid detergents every week, please 🙏. They get cleaned much much better. I as a Dad and medical doctor myself have to keep telling my daughters almost every week!
I useto be really into make up, but for the past year or so I've only been wearing tinted sunscreens, tinted lip moisturizers and mascara. I feel like my skin has never been better. It looks and feels so much better. I remember wearing heavier make up and constantly feeling like my skin was dry and like.... not breathing? If that makes sense. I have focused on skincare (especially wearing sunscreen) and its the best decision ive made for my skin 💕
Hi Dr Dray, can you please talk about hand veins and what can be done about them. I enjoy watching your videos. They are so informative. Tybee is so CUTE and ADORABLE.
I don't have acne but I don't like wearing makeup. I don't like the feel of it. I'm older so it's not a big deal for me. That's why I care more about my skincare than makeup. And I thank you for that!!!
So interesting that you said mineral preparations containing titanium dioxide and zinc oxide can have a positive effect on acne and rosacea. I suffer from the latter and tried Soolantra, Metro-gel and then oral antibiotics, all with zero effect. Paulas Choice ultra light SPF30 sunscreen with resveratrol mops up the excess sebum from my super oily skin and I am now almost free of symptoms.
I was prescribed Metrogel for rosacea, & noticed little benefit in regards to breakouts (although I'm sure the niacinamide in it was beneficial in some way). I've had much better results from Dr. Dray's recommendations of azelaic acid, mandelic acid, & CeraVe Moisturizer. I also use a gel cleanser & toner that contain salicylic acid (transient exposure, but I think they help too). 😊💕
Seeing you rocking your sunscreen, mascara, and looking beautiful has inspired me to ditch the fullface which wasn’t practical for reapplying sunscreen and I suspect the reason for all the redness on my cheeks. I now only wear mascara, liner, and sometimes a bit of light eyeshadow and man it feels great😌 .
Fran Ameri: It probably depends. I do know Dr Dray mentioned in her “why you are breaking out” video that trying out stuff too frequently can contribute to acne. “10 reason why you are breaking out| Dr Dray” ua-cam.com/video/2gIKnxcbEMk/v-deo.html (Go to 1:50)
@@DrDrayzday please clarify as I do remember your 10 reasons you are breaking out video that using too many skincare products and not sticking with a certain product routine for at least a month will cause breakouts.
Dear Dr. Dray, This video came at the most appropriate time. I was acne or breakout free for a while. I have been using my tretenoin etc. Then all of the sudden developed acnefrom rashes on my cheeks just like you mentioned. Turns out I have been using some make up, a new face balm to remove make up and who knows what. So I have stopped everything including make up ( concealer) and am giving my face a break. Sticking to acne medication and a few days of doxycycline for immflamation. Etc hopeful it will get better!! Perfect timing. Love Christopher from Miami Aka dancer5287
Your skin is glowing Dr. Dray. I tried messaging you on IG, however I don't know if you read them. Would love to have you do more videos on different skin conditions as I am going to study to get my Derm Certification as a licensed NP. I am super excited!
I have to know even though I don't even use liquid makeup because 1. It feels gooey in the face and 2. My shade (olive medium) doesn't exist on any brand I've tried.
Makeup companies are starting to come out with many many undertones..for skinlike finish try dior face and body and the new luminous abh foundation..they have olive undertones
Eneyda Cruz have you tired Pur foundation and concealer in one? They have 100 shades, I checked it out at Ulta and I would be shocked if you could not find your shade in that range. Fenty also has Many shades I would imagine you would find a shade that suits you
What about a brand like Cover FX? They are free of a LOT of the same things. Thoughts? PS:Can you do a review of the sunscreens for dark skin (Bolden and Black Girl SunScreen) Thx
This brand was my go-to for my aggressive, cystic acne. Bare minerals broke me out (the powder foundation) because of the mica. I still use cover fx to this day:)
Oh wow love this! As an occasional make up user thank you for not demonizing it. I don't wear it every day and use a lot less the last year but it can be fun and creative!
Thank you Dr. Dray! Wonderful as always! I’d love to learn which makeup tutorials you like to watch. I particularly enjoy Dustin Hunter and Wayne Goss - they’re informative, witty and I find them so soothing to listen to.
I find spot treating with a mineral sunscreen that has zinc helps to get rid of pimples faster. It's white but dabbing some on and blending it in blurs and protects it. I do this overnight too and it's less red and gone down by morning. It's a vicious cycle, makeup makes pimples worse so we buy more makeup to keep covering it.
@@Peaceful-Sheep I seem to be ok using most baby sunscreens so long as they have less chemicals more zinc for protection. Zinc is less irritating for me. Physical/mineral sunscreens overall seem less irritating on my sensitive skin.
@Miss Betty here is a link to one of the Doc’s “shop with me” videos. The topic of baby sunscreen starts around 18:00 but IMO the whole video is great. I love her comments on the 2 Cetaphil Cleansers-“one I hate and one I hate less” I about spit out my coffee ua-cam.com/play/PLUM_QJFLRbNLHg03H3usFMuvdEN_kNMz5.html
Make up I have researched and found to be fragrance free, non comedogenic and has minimal ingredients... NYX total control foundation, NYX can’t stop won’t stop loose powder, NYX matte or the dewy setting spray! Yes all nyx !! I have noticed no irritation and feels light on my skin. I researched ingredients through an ingredient checker website. Also wash your brushes and sponges regularly. I like the ISO brush spray cleanser.
Nourisse Naturals makes a great loose powder with only 3 ingredients: zinc oxide, iron oxides, and silicon dioxide microspheres. It's SPF 50, non nano, fragrance free, cruelty free, comes in a variety of shades...just to name a few highlights. It comes with a lighter and darker color so you can mix it to your skin tone. I got mine on Amazon.
I’ve had a lot of trouble with acne ever since puberty started and I did like to use a high-coverage concealer on my spots, but nowadays I tend to use (relatively unnoticeable) acne patches on active breakouts. It camouflages the spots a little, and keeps me from touching the acne.
Thank you so much for this information, Dr. Dray. You are the best! I’ve been using tinted sunscreen as foundation for the most part. Oh! I almost forgot: in your vitamin c Cerave review I said I’d found a vitamin c that worked for me. Wrong. It was fine for the first 1/3 of the bottle and after that irritated my skin and caused a nasty dermatitis.
Hi Dr Dray! Thank you for this video. I have a request - could you consider making a video talking about “skin care ingredients” in foundations? I have an inkling that’s a huge marketing plot that is highly misleading for a lot of people.
Dr. Dray does the 2hour period of sunscreen reapplication starts from the moment you put the sunscreen on or it starts only when you are exposed to sunlight? Thanks Dr. Dray!😍
kristel shayne herrera: This video is helpful on this topic. “Should I wear sunscreen inside? In the car?| Q&A with Dr Dray” ua-cam.com/video/rYuk5b0XBmg/v-deo.html
The 2-Hour period only really applies to strenuous outside activity. You should still reapply, however if your indoors all day, then doing it every 2 hours is unethical as you're directly exposed to ultraviolet light.
Thank you for this helpful information!! From a die hard makeup lover❤️👍🏽 I DO want to take good care of my one and only skin but I certainly do NOT want to give up my makeup it is my therapy 😌 so I very much appreciate your advice and I plan to try the makeup brand you recommended in this video 💐
I got the eltamd sunscreen everyone loves. 2 days later, me my husband & my 2 kids had clogged pores. I have figured out that ISOPROPYL PALMITATE is prob pore clogging for most people like they say. I am also sensitive to makeup, the only thing I’ve found that doesn’t bother my skin is cetaphil tinted moisturizer. And I’m sensitive to liquid cleansers. I’ve use glycerin & water to moisturize before & had a breakout of bumps every time. So for me, glycerin which has a low comedogency rating is clogging on my skin. 🤷♀️ Dr Dray, you have said that anyone who has acne has an impaired skin barrier. Over the last few months I have gotten my skin in really great condition. No more itching or eczema. But i still get a spot or 2 from hormones once a month. Does that mean I have “acne” & my barrier function is disrupted still? Or just normal skin being skin?
Hello, what would you do recommend for acne hyper-pigmentation? What products are good to vanish acne dark spots? I hear that vitamin C is very helpful. Thank you for all the good information you give. Very helpful :)
Rhys Jones: Not true. For example, many moisturizers and sunscreens don’t perform well in or near beards and mustaches. And there can be extra challenges/concerns with products or ingredients when men are experiencing razor burn & ingrown hairs on their face and necks.
Firstly, I love how balanced and thoughtful you are by considering all viewpoints re the makeup and non-makeup community. It’s incredibly refreshing to see someone be so honest about the pros/cons, and compassionately discuss the psychological effects acne as a disease can have of on people. Secondly, are there any sugar alternatives you’d recommend for acne sufferers out there? I’m not well versed when it comes to nutrition, and with so many sugar alternatives flooding the market... it’s a little confusing which one to pick!
please tell me, do you think a beauty sponge can be a problem if washed with a antibacterial soap before every use? I mean is it possible to have buildup of bacteria and cause acne or is it safe? thank you
tori Gonzales: I recommend you go to their website to look up the ingredients in their products. I just did and all of them contain fragrance, fruit/flower extracts, tea tree and other problematic ingredients, which is a deal breaker for me. Plus they’re overpriced, so no thank you.
Thanks so much for addressing this topic, Dr. Dray. I do wear foundation to cover imperfections so I really appreciate your input. Happy Monday! Have a great evening! 🐝🌼🐝
Dr dray what do you think about bare minerals makeup ? Im so grateful go have found you. I went to a dermatologist for a cortisone injection in a giant cystic pimple that wasn't going away. He completely made fun of it and even called it a "monster." Made repeated jokes about it and made me self conscious to go back even though his treatment cured it. I wish you could be my dermatologist !
Hello Andrea, Thank you for the useful information! I have a quick question about green tea, could I get the green tea benefits by just patting a wet used tea bag on my face? Thanks.
This was such a great video!! Also, when you mentioned pets, it gave me the idea of a video talking about pets and skin reactions/allergies. For example, I get rashes on the insides of my arms if my dog licks me. Generally I just wash the area and apply hydrocortisone cream. Is that the right thing to do?
I dampen my beauty sponge before using it as it spreads the foundation nicely and makes the sponge much softer to use, and always wash it after each use. Watching beauty gurus applying makeup with a dirty sponge with layers and layers of old dried gunk just makes me cringe. Yuck! I wash my brushes too as they can become bacteria farms very quickly. :-( Happy Monday Dr. Dray!
@@britnysnyder4991 I use warm water and bar soap, usually fragrance free if I've got one. Otherwise it's just whatever bar soap I have available. I replace my sponges every 3 months or when they develop cracks or holes which can trap bacteria. :)

Yeah. And how high up fragrance ranks in the ingrediants list.
👍
jaymari: What a great testimonial 👏 👏 👏
Thanks for all your wonderful recommendations! I have changed my skin care routine and follow some of your advice. My skin looks and feels better. I stopped using make up almost 6 months ago and got very aggressive on applyingSPF and no fragrance on my skin. Appreciate your time and dedication you put on your UA-cam channel.
Thanks for watching Ms Susana :)
Susana Anaya: 👏 👏 👏

Thank You Sooo Much!! Happy Monday To You Too!! I Hope Your Day is Going Beautifully!!
mary ann Gonzalez: Congrats on your evolving skin care and improved skin health! 👏 👏 👏
J T thanks so much 😊
Really well balanced information and I love that u acknowledge that men use makeup too.
What do you recommend?
Thank you for your honesty and understanding that not all can afford expensive products for our skin to be healthy. I am very grateful for your honesty in skin care products and being an advocate that healthy skin can be achieved to everyone in society by making professional dermatological information accessible through your videos! You are a role model that Kindness is free!
Thanks Dr. Dray. I've been wanting a video like this as I am a skin-conscious makeup wearer.
A Candle that Burns Bright 💙
Denatured alcohol and Ethylhexyl Palmitate are the two ingredients that make me break out almost instantly! I didn’t realize for years because I always had acne, but when I would use products with those after accutane that’s when something would pop up and it all made sense.
Thanks to oil cleansing and using fermented essence, I now have about 60% less pimples and breakouts. Much of Dr Dray's advice work for me too
Happy monday to the coolest doctor!
Happy Monday!
:) Hope you are having a good week Ms Shannon
Shannon Graham: 👏 😃
Dray!
Thanks for this video. I feel so sorry for these young teens, both boys and girls who have acne and struggle with it for years.

Your commitment to your viewers never cease to amaze me. Sometimes I catch myself thinking “how does she do it, with such a busy life?”. I remember the day you took your time to answer my question. That really made my day. Thank you so much for caring.

Make up free is amazing.😍😍😍
I just wear liquid lipstick and, or mascara now past few years.
Bella.Italiana.Fitness: 👏 👏 👏
Yes pleaseeee!!!!
Definitely!
Susan Ha omg I thought I was the only one who thought that. Like a dermatologist should be reacting to beauty guru skin care routines, if anyone
YESSSS
I watch her videos too and Susan Yara and she said in a Q&A, she sometimes thinks she knows more than dermatologists. I just laughed.
I have focused on skincare (especially wearing sunscreen) and its the best decision ive made for my skin 💕
sugarcoat: 👏 👏 👏
Hi Dr Dray, can you please talk about hand veins and what can be done about them. I enjoy watching your videos. They are so informative. Tybee is so CUTE and ADORABLE.
I really love and appreciate you mentioning the effect acne has on mental health and self esteem ❤️
I don't have acne but I don't like wearing makeup. I don't like the feel of it. I'm older so it's not a big deal for me. That's why I care more about my skincare than makeup. And I thank you for that!!!
I’m so curious on what beauty gurus you watch !!
Your face is sooo flawless! I cant wait to feel comfortable without makeup
Dr. Dray, please make a video about ultherapy, its contraindications, and effectivity. Thanks so much!
Not related to acne, but to skin integrity-- Is it ok to change up your skincare products often, or does this irritate the skin? Thanks, Dr. Dray! 🥰
Fran Ameri: It probably depends. I do know Dr Dray mentioned in her “why you are breaking out” video that trying out stuff too frequently can contribute to acne.
“10 reason why you are breaking out| Dr Dray” ua-cam.com/video/2gIKnxcbEMk/v-deo.html (Go to 1:50)
It has potential to irritate
Fran Ameri it doesn’t matter
Oh, that's great to know!! Thank you so much, Dr. Dray!!! 😘🌺
@@DrDrayzday please clarify as I do remember your 10 reasons you are breaking out video that using too many skincare products and not sticking with a certain product routine for at least a month will cause breakouts.
Dear Dr. Dray,
This video came at the most appropriate time.
Thank you for your videos. They really help us to know how to treat our skin the best way possible. Hello from Washington state!
Thanks for watching
I have to know even though I don't even use liquid makeup because 1. It feels gooey in the face and 2. My shade (olive medium) doesn't exist on any brand I've tried.
Olive light to medium here. The cosmetics world definitely ignores us.
Fenty also has Many shades I would imagine you would find a shade that suits you
Dior has olive shades
What about a brand like Cover FX? They are free of a LOT of the same things. Thoughts? PS:Can you do a review of the sunscreens for dark skin (Bolden and Black Girl SunScreen) Thx
T.M.M. Richardson yess
This brand was my go-to for my aggressive, cystic acne. Bare minerals broke me out (the powder foundation) because of the mica. I still use cover fx to this day:)
Try dermablend foundations :D
Yes the cover fx cream foundation and the cover fx mineral power do not irritate my skin at all and the only makeup I trust on me face!
YESSSS ON THE SUNSCREEN FOR DEEPER SKIN TONES!!!! I hate having a white cast underneath my makeup or just in general.
I was wondering what brand of sunscreen works best for you? I'm still looking for one that doesn't irritate my ridiculously sensitive skin.
@@Peaceful-Sheep I seem to be ok using most baby sunscreens so long as they have less chemicals more zinc for protection. Zinc is less irritating for me. Physical/mineral sunscreens overall seem less irritating on my sensitive skin.
@@Peaceful-Sheep Aveeno has a good baby one and I've used.
@@meganrain2298
Thank you for the suggestion...it never occurred to me to try a formula for babies..😳 lol..makes perfect sense..thanks again
Stephanie Butler how do they make the shades with just three ingredients?
@@sueharrison6718 good question. I always assumed they tweaked the iron oxide concentrations.
Yesss I needed this video because so many makeup products I have make me break out 😩 thank you for this video!
I’ve had a lot of trouble with acne ever since puberty started and I did like to use a high-coverage concealer on my spots, but nowadays I tend to use (relatively unnoticeable) acne patches on active breakouts. It camouflages the spots a little, and keeps me from touching the acne.
I been makeup free for 2 years! Thanks to you! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Carol Guz: Woo Hoo 👏 👏 👏
Thank you so much for this information, Dr. Dray. You are the best! I’ve been using tinted sunscreen as foundation for the most part. Oh! I almost forgot: in your vitamin c Cerave review I said I’d found a vitamin c that worked for me. Wrong. It was fine for the first 1/3 of the bottle and after that irritated my skin and caused a nasty dermatitis.
You’re skin is so beautiful and glowy!! What is your skincare routine?? Please!!

Hello Dr. Dray! With what should I wash my makeup brushes? Is soap and water ok?
Thanks Dr. Dray! I recently switched to Bare Minerals trying to avoid makeup ingredients that trigger acne. Have you ever used their products?
I have been reading articles on silk pillow cases helping w skin conditions is this true or false?
Thank you Dr. Dray I have been wondering about these exact questions. You do so much good for your community! ❤️
Hi Dr Dray! Thank you for this video. I have a request - could you consider making a video talking about “skin care ingredients” in foundations? I have an inkling that’s a huge marketing plot that is highly misleading for a lot of people.
I agree with that lots of youtubers are way heavy-handed applying makeup. Funny thing is that while doing it, they'd tell viewers to not rub hard. 😂
I have learned so much about skin care from you. I enjoy your channel and thank you for doing what you do!!!!
Hi Dr. Dray thanks for the informative video! You should review the Bareminerals products!
Dr. Dray does the 2hour period of sunscreen reapplication starts from the moment you put the sunscreen on or it starts only when you are exposed to sunlight?
Thanks Dr. Dray!😍
Froufrou Deluxe thanks I know about that, but about if you’re at home and there are no windows where UVA can pass thru
kristel shayne herrera: This video is helpful on this topic.
What would be your top products for “sunscreen makeup”?
Thank you for this helpful information!! From a die hard makeup lover❤️👍🏽 I DO want to take good care of my one and only skin but I certainly do NOT want to give up my makeup it is my therapy 😌 so I very much appreciate your advice and I plan to try the makeup brand you recommended in this video 💐
I use the Jane Iredale pressed powder or Alima pure powder over my physical sunscreen (because I look purple). My SD skin has never looked better.
Thank you so much for this! Your compassion and talent for education shine, as always.
Dr Dray, you have said that anyone who has acne has an impaired skin barrier.
Lovely video! I'd really love one of this concentrating in allergies ♥️ Makeup gives me really bad allergy breakups
What primers would you recommend? I struggle finding one since my skin gets so oily during the day, but is very dry in the morning.
Joycee Joseph she has a video on that. Primer is a glorified moisturizer
Hey Doc, can you make a vlog reviewing skin care products for men? (lotion, shaving cream/gel, aftershave, face wash, etc.)
Rhys Jones: Not true. For example, many moisturizers and sunscreens don’t perform well in or near beards and mustaches. And there can be extra challenges/concerns with products or ingredients when men are experiencing razor burn & ingrown hairs on their face and necks.
I love your videos, and I have taken your advice on so much skin care! I would love to know your thoughts on Rodan + Fields products!
El Ly She likes Better Stevia French Vanilla.
Thanks! ❤️
El Ly You’re very welcome.
El Ly: Dr Dray uses a variety of stevia products, not just Better Stevia French Vanilla.
Thank you, J T!
please tell me, do you think a beauty sponge can be a problem if washed with a antibacterial soap before every use? I mean is it possible to have buildup of bacteria and cause acne or is it safe? thank you
Can you PLEASE do a review on the brand LANEIGE, especially, the skin cream(toner + moisturizer)
tori Gonzales: I recommend you go to their website to look up the ingredients in their products. I just did and all of them contain fragrance, fruit/flower extracts, tea tree and other problematic ingredients, which is a deal breaker for me. Plus they’re overpriced, so no thank you.
Thank you Dr. Dray.....from all your makeup wearing viewers! ❤️
A C thanks for watching
Thanks so much for addressing this topic, Dr. Dray. I do wear foundation to cover imperfections so I really appreciate your input. Happy Monday! Have a great evening! 🐝🌼🐝
Dr dray what do you think about bare minerals makeup ?
Im so grateful go have found you. I went to a dermatologist for a cortisone injection in a giant cystic pimple that wasn't going away. He completely made fun of it and even called it a "monster." Made repeated jokes about it and made me self conscious to go back even though his treatment cured it. I wish you could be my dermatologist !
This is great. I have redness and always wonder what makeup would be good to use. Can you review the Clinique Redness solution line?
Aimee Gill Dr. Dray has a video on redness.
@@wap9137 yes I have watched them.
Aimee Gill Oh, good.
Great video. What do u think is best for the skin. Powder or liquid foundation? Thanks
I only use concealer on dark circles and non irritating mascara :)
Hello Andrea,
Thank you for the useful information!
I have a quick question about green tea, could I get the green tea benefits by just patting a wet used tea bag on my face?
Thanks.
not likely
Happy Monday Dr. Dray!
What do you wash your sponges with?
@@britnysnyder4991 I use warm water and bar soap, usually fragrance free if I've got one. Otherwise it's just whatever bar soap I have available. I replace my sponges every 3 months or when they develop cracks or holes which can trap bacteria. :)
Britny Snyder I use Dawn liquid detergent...works great! And a touch of olive oil to keep the sponge material from cracking.
Dr. Dray can you do a video of good eye makeup remover ? Thanks to you I don't drown my acne prone skin in thick foundation and switched over to tinted sunscreen instead. However I do do eye makeup up and my eyes are sensitive. I use eyemake up remover but irritates my eyes. Curious if you have any recommendations recommendations removal of eye makeup?
Dr Dray you are a sunshine. Thanks for sharing your knowledge on so many topics related to skin. I truly appreciate you!
Dr. Dray,
Do you have information on skin picking/dermatilomania? Particularly that of the lips. Aside from “stop picking” could you provide some of the science of manually removing skin layers?
