Acne Free has a cleanser that is 2.5% BP, a milk texture and quite gentle! I know just about every other Acne Free product is junk, except this one. It’s the Oil Free Acne Cleanser. I can’t stand leave on BP products because they bleach. I just use it as a short contact therapy “mask”. Apply, leave on a few minutes, wash off in the shower. I believe CeraVe is also coming out with a foaming 5% BP wash. I use the La roche Posay Adapalene and love it! Somehow it seems to spread much more smoothly than Differin, and it’s a better buy when you have 20% off coupons for Walgreens and Lovelyskin!

It’s weird because I’ve had clear skin for so long and then I used a cleansing oil and it broke me out so bad and I used so many other products and finally my skin is getting back to where it was . I had these little bumps and then they turns into big pimples .
Abigail j34 YES ITS TAKING FOREVER TO GET MY SKIN BACK TO WHERE IT USED TO BE . BUT NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE A CLEANSING OIL . The little bumps went away but now it’s just spots here and there and it’s clearing up .
Omg same 😭 currently trying glycolic acid. I think it's helping turn the tiny bumps into full blown acne faster. I'm wondering if I should alternate with differin gel. What worked for you?
11:10 - It's not just benzoyl peroxide that has been left on the skin that bleaches stuff, because I found that after a shower after using it on my arm pits (as recommended by Dr Dray to replace deodorant and yes it does work), when I dry my armpits, that bleaches the heck out of the towel (after a lot of rinsing). Now I think this definitely has something to do with my underarm hair, like maybe it's soaking it up a bit and it's not all rinsing out or something I dunno. A lot of surface area with the hair. Beats me. Clearly this doesn't happen with other areas of the body or Dr Dray would say so, and she doesn't have hairy armpits (she does the same thing). So if I care about the particular towel, I let my armpits airdry. But once I'm dry, nothing is going to get bleached anymore.
In the past year, I've discovered a few closed comedomes on my face and they're driving me nuts. So glad you posted this video, I'm excited to give one of these products a shot. Thanks for all that you do.

It's now barely noticeable & in another week it will be completely gone.
Ahh! I had no idea salicylic acid might not be ok during pregnancy! We need to make that more widely known. I bet lots of other women didn't know either!
I’m very confused. I have horrible closed comedones, but I feel that my skin is very dry and sensitive. I’m 28, don’t drink or smoke, and yet I feel like I’m really starting to age in the face. All these things make me think that using salicylic acid would be bad bc it’s for oily prone skin? If I have closed comedones though, that pretty much means my skin is oily? I have always found that in the past when I would try skincare products, it just made my skin worse. Skincare is so overwhelming lol
Is it possible to get close comedones from irritation from AHAS and BHAS?? Or even retinol. I have always have clear skin and now this is driving me crazy 😭
Thank you so much ❤️ could you please do a video on period breakouts.. I used to get just one or two and they would go away on their own. Now, they're more and stay for months.
I think it's safe to say that a 10 minute leave on mask is more effective than a one minute wash. But if you've sensitive skin, the wash may be less irritating.

But then I break out on my T zone and get these closed comedones on my forehead. I have used the ordinary azelaic acid, but really don't like the weird powdery texture.. It makes my skin feel tight and dry afterwards. I have seen it help my skin a bit, but I have much more faith in Paua's choice. Plus, right now you can get it in the travel size for $10. I got it for $8 through a sale.
Got myself the whole clear line with the sale. Even got a free gift bag with some extra goodies!
I have the same skin situation going on, how has your skin been after 3 months? Considering the trial version since it's on sale.
I wish I had known all this years ago, I have been suffering with this on my chin for a few years now and I have over the years tried to get pus or whatever out of them and now i have scars/acne on my chin along with the closed comedones, thank you so much for sharing this video.
The PC Azelaic Acid booster has become a Holy Grail for me.
Roll0112358 👍🏼
Has it helped reduce your close comedones? I get them on my chin a lot and they are so tricky to get rid of sometimes because them always seems to reappear.
roll can u link me the brand u use?
Tencups I believe PC means Paula’s Choice. Correct me if I’m wrong. :)
Polly Chen Yes, I meant Paula’s Choice!
You look so pretty, your skin is just perfect and glowing.
I want smooth skin once again. I use to have smooth skin and all of sudden my face feel rough and bumpy. It doesn’t even feel smooth after I deep clean my skin😭💔it make me feel like I look so old.
@Shady Lady I think I start to have a rough skin after I use all type of products that my sister bought because I want to make my skin to be smoother but insisted my skin get rougher. My adviser for people who still have a smooth skin is to stay with whatever cream or soap they using. Don’t try out other stuff unless they want bumpy skin.
I really don’t know what I would do without this channel ❤️ You are the best
I was started on tazarotene cream and I’m excited to eventually achieve the result.

This makes sense because I’m pregnant and all of a sudden I’m developing a ton of closed comedones!!
My dermatologist yesterday told me I didn't have acne but only closed comedones BECAUSE OF THE MASK I've never had acne and after covid I have some bumps on my skin, they make me SOOOOOO insecure 😭😭😭😭😭😭I want my pre covid skin back
Anyway he gave me an light exfoliator to do everyday, I hope it works this summer
Don’t forget your skin may be dehydrated. Comedones on cheeks is a good sign u may actually need more moisture
R u sure dat dehydrated skin can lead to closed comedones on the cheek, cos I have been suffering frm it for a while now....
Hmm you could be on to something after using differin my spots have cleared up accept on both cheekbones and they feel very dry.
I try to hydrate then i break out even more
Acne Free has a cleanser that is 2.5% BP, a milk texture and quite gentle!
I've had these all my life and I never knew how they were called :) I thought I whiteheads were postures
Lol, same fellow Alex T
Thank you Dr. Dray. This information is so beneficial. Hope you have a wonderful weekend,
i wonder if you could make a piercing care video. i know its random but i know a lot of people must have problems and go to the derm. i think it would help w so many myths and stuff that people suggest to use. thanks for all the effort u put into the vids
Much needed. Wedding season here and I need to keep my face clean!

Thank you for finding cruelty free products...this is most important for me 😉
3:10 I feel so scolded right now 😅 I'm so guilty
ikr... just debated whether or not to last night and did, but trying to be 'disciplined' and only let myself extract like 4... then I came across this vid 😬
Im a Hispanic woman(Multiracial) olive skin tone. I will try this out and come back with my results. Also how can people like myself outside the US , get tretinoin cream? Thank you Dr Dray. 🎉
It’s weird because I’ve had clear skin for so long and then I used a cleansing oil and it broke me out so bad and I used so many other products and finally my skin is getting back to where it was . I had these little bumps and then they turns into big pimples .
I’m experiencing the same thing!! I started using a cleansing oil and have so many little bumps and more pimples.
Omg same I did oil cleansing and now my skin is taking MONTHS to go back to what it was 😫
Sophia yes I hate it . It traumatized me 😭🤣
Omg same 😭 currently trying glycolic acid.
Can comedones be micro needled professionally? Like a single one on my face 😭
In the past year, I've discovered a few closed comedomes on my face and they're driving me nuts. So glad you posted this video, I'm excited to give one of these products a shot. Thanks for all that you do.
Hi! How do you treat them?
title: comedones
my brain: condoms
:/
💀
I love you Dr. Dray! Thanks for always educating us. Your are the best! Sending love from your Filipino follower ❤️
Hi! I have a few whiteheads that appeared two years ago. I will listen carefully to this video again because if I can improve or make these few bumps disappear. Thank you for this video which will be very useful to me. I wanted to establish a routine before addressing specific problems.
This is sorcery!! I do currently struggle with it. 😢 Thank you!!
Garden of Wisdom also has a 10% azelaic acid as a serum for £9. The Ordinary is super occlusive and rubs off in clumpy balls even on bare skin. The only way I could stop it from pilling was by mixing it with another moisturiser on my hand before using it
Hey Dr D! ❣️
Zap Zit is Awesome! And under $5 at Walmart. Thanks for the recommendation!
Thank you so much doc! i finally understand what type of skin i have and what i was doing wrong my whole life. This video was so helpful! god bless you🥰🥰
Bot?
Which would you recommend most for someone with acne prone but dry skin?
I think Mario Badescu has the best skin care products, including acne. I tried them after receiving free samples about 15 years ago & haven't used anything else since then. I even love their shampoo & bath products. The positive side is they are more reasonably priced compared to other top named products. My sister, who is a devout Clinique user even she admitted MB worked wonders on her skin, but she still can't give up her Clinique.
Hi Dr Dray! Does that work as well for the ones around the mouth? Best!
Hi Dr. Dray! I love your videos! What do you think of that Cera Ve Salicylic Acid wash? Have you ever used that? Also, do you offer skin consultations at all? Thanks again!
ever since i started an actual skin care routine (used to only use african black soap and tea tree oil for breakouts) ive been gettin so many white heads..
i have realized the problem. the niacinamide was making my skin worse.
You're purging
@@luztiburcio1499 did you leave the tea tree oil as a mask or wash or how ?
Did anyone else notice how healthy her hair look's ?
Hi! Can you please tell us what ingredients that triggers closed comedones.😊
Can you please do a video giving suggestions for anti aging when you have comedones
An option that is available in Europe and I believe also over seas with azelaic acid, when it comes to prescription strength (20%) is a serum called aPad from a brand Geek&Gorgeos. Just wanted to throw tree hat out there
Watching Dr.Dray is always my favorite part of my day! Happy Friday everyone! ❤️
Mine too ! Have a great weekend
Thank You Sooo Much!! Happy Friday!! I Hope Your Having a Wonderful Day!!
You pretty much summed up the content of a "acne treatment" orderset pathway I am working on for ambulatory clinics across a health system.
Great video, Dr Dray!
Could you please talk more about Alba Botanica’s sunscreens and moistruisers? Some of them seem to be fragrance-free.
There’s nothing in this video I haven’t done and more…yet I still have closed comedones :(
This video is what i needed, going to try differin or the la roche posay, thank you
any results?
@@cerealis_5432 at first my skin barrier was really bad at the time so on the first try it burned me had to stop for some months, recently i am not using adapalene but another retinoid called altreno since i have access to samples of it and it is not as sensitizing right now, afterwards i will move on to otc of adapalene again
I’ve been using the Peach Slices SA face wash for a week now and have noticed no changes whatsoever on the area around my nose where I have comedones 😟. Next, I’m going to try Differin gel at night.
Hi,
Paula’s Choice Azelaic acid booster contains Glyceryl Stearate, which some people claim is an acne-causing ingredient. What are your thoughts on this? :) Thanks for your video!
I love you, you literally saved me tysm 😭
Would you recommend using Lactic Acid to treat closed comedones? I’ve beusing the ordinary 5% for about 3 months and it’s helped stop the comedones from developing into raging red bumps, but I want to keep the comedones at bay. I spoke to an ordinary team meme er and they recommended that I move to using the 10% and seeing if there are better results
😊 Did you get any good results from changing your routine to the 10%?
update?
thank you, happy friday!
Thank you for making all of your helpful videos. If possible, would you make a video about skincare and acne during pregnancy?
Not sure if I should use differin or azaleic acid for my sensitive skin and comedones
Thanks for all the info and have e great weekend! 🤗
This was a great video filled with such helpful content. Thank you!
Susana Sunshine 💙
Thanks for the updated video on this. Happy Friday, Dr. Dray!
Hello Dr. Dray. I really love your videos. Can you please suggest me something?
I have oily skin with blackheads and pimple marks. In the Morning, I use this SA cleanser, followed by Garnier Vit C serum, and La roche posay Sunscreen.
In the evening, I again use SA facewash, followed by Hyaluronic acid and Niacinamide based moisturizer.
Is this alright, or do I need to change something? :)
I havent been receiving UA-cam notifications for the last two weeks, and notifications are switched on, Weird! Oh well Saturdays chores accompanied by dr dray! Not so bad really
eliezuh law: Dr Dray publishes videos daily at the same time everyday - 11 AM Central Time (Texas) so notifications are less/not necessary than with other YTers.
@@jt8142 i live on a different continent and prefer the notifications bell tbh but good to know
Hey dr. Dray what kind of sunscreens would be good for comedones?
Zinc or titanium sunscreen. A good one is the sheer zinc nuetrogena
This is super helpful thank youuuu. 🙏🙏 I suffer with this every winter on my forehead and cheeks and I’m thinking the dry cold air is causing my skin to freak out and dead skin cells get trapped.
I know 2 years pasted by maybe it's because of winter clothes coat, hats, scarfs etc. They are rubbing the skin and if they aren't washed frequently
Enough they may cause problems

I chose salicylic acid but can you do a tutorial of how to use it like how many times a day/week and what to put before and after and how to apply salicylic acid and more tips
wish more of these products were cruelty free!

I got closed comedones all over my cheecks 2 months ago and now they are cystic acne all over my skin can someone please help :/
Can you please suggest what type of moisturizer should we use for comodones..
Seriously so helpful ❤️
Dr Dray thank you so very much for all the information. I just have a question. Last week I started Tretinoin 0.025% I am 28 years old that’s why I chose tretinoin because of its anti-aging effect, I suffer from comedonal acne (it gets really bad sometimes) but since you didn’t mention it on the video I wanted to ask if tretinoin would also be effective and enough to get rid of my comedonal acne (which is my main skin concern currently) or is Adapalene a better option for comedonal acne? Thank you so very much for your reply or if someone else knows I would also appreciate your comments 🙏🏼
I need to know this too my skin is awful 😫
Same here
Did it work? I’m exactly in your same situation right now. Idk if tretinoin is better than Adapalene
@@aliciaguerrero6149 I've been using tretinoin for years, actually got the prescription because of comedogenic acne but it hasn't done anything. It does exfoliate and make the skin peel etc but the bumps remain under the skin. Hence why I'm now searching for other ingredients.
@@xenondoro8573 same. For me salicylic acid was working but almond milk broke me out bad again. Comedonal acne is so annoying.
Can you make a video about ingredients like polyethylene, polymethyl methylphenidate, polypropylene. It’s seemed to be in some cleansers and cleansing balm. What are the impact on the skin and the environment? Thanks 🙏
Hi Dr dray can you please do a video on feet corns like darkening of the skin ontop of the toes and what I can do to get rid of them thank you so much love your channel ♥️♥️♥️
My husband recently had a closed comedone on his cheek which after several months grew to the size of a raisin & people were starting to notice. 2 weeks ago, I sterilized a fine sharp needle & inserted it into the comedone & used a comedone extractor. It's now barely noticeable & in another week it will be completely gone.
Sarah G I hope you videoed the extraction so we can watch
Sounds like cystic acne
Ahh! I had no idea salicylic acid might not be ok during pregnancy! We need to make that more widely known. I bet lots of other women didn't know either!
I've heard it shouldn't be no more than 2%
Please make a video on pregnancy skincare recommendations..
spoorthi duggi: Dr Dray already has a video on pregnancy skincare.
Yea she already does
I’m very confused.
This is super helpful. Thank you!
Thank you so much ❤️ could you please do a video on period breakouts.. I used to get just one or two and they would go away on their own. Now, they're more and stay for months.
Thanks for sharing. Best wishes. Do this dry the skin?
Would something like the salicylic acid masque from the ordinary used twice a week , be less effective than a salicylic acid wash ?
I think it's safe to say that a 10 minute leave on mask is more effective than a one minute wash. But if you've sensitive skin, the wash may be less irritating.
Excellent dermatologist. 👍🏽
