They are renowned for a reason,in the right hands that is 😮
Raw and uncompressed = awesome! 😮
I had a ecstasy and a Shiva 20th...initially I thought they sound good but after the honeymoon was over I was like WTF was I thinking...sold both and got a stealth, couldn't be happier.
Jarod hi! Nice video ) I really love ubershall, it's one of the most musical amps) you just don't understand how to set it up. For high gain and metal - the starting position of the presence is 0. In fact, it would not be correct to name this presense knob. It controls more the feedback Power Amp of the amplifier, so it would be more correct to name it MID boost or something like that. Read the instructions for the amplifier) it also says that you need to keep the presense knob at 0 when dealing with metal) and other work's great ) Thanks for your videos! Great job!
Well.....it definitely sounded better this time around than the first time you had one. And if you listen to that earlier vid of the Twin Jet, I still say that it wasn't firing on all cylinders and I'll die on that hill!! This one sounded WAY better in all aspects and at least you gave it another shot. From my end, it sounded great but that may be different than what you were experiencing in the room...but we'll talk more about it later! 🤘
It sounds great in the mix !!!!!
The red seven sounds awesome!
Sold mine right away. Just couldn’t get a feel for it!.
FWIW, Bogner uses a Log10A taper for the treble pot. You’ll have set it pretty high to behave similar to other amps on the market.
Correct
First! This is a dream amp of mine!
You look like me trying to something I like out of a Framus cobra. But when I did, it was really, really good. I still have it and still have the paper. I wrote what the settings were. Uberschall definitely has that beefy sound to it.
Oddly enough I was just in that store the other day hoping to find a bogner or soldano to take home, I just missed it by a couple of days. However I did find a rev blue locally. It didn’t seem to take that much effort to dial in as a twin jet so I’m glad I didn’t opt for one of those.
I got the most gain out of my Kramer. The problem with the fatback is that depending on the music you literally run out of gain and EVERY single note on a solo has to be picked FLAWLESSLY to make sure it really screams and doesn’t make the note sound dead but if you execute it right it’s like an inferno. Therefore it’s better if you’re playing less intense music. The worst part is all my settings got changed 🙂↔️
I would be curious to see you do a review on the Uber ultra. I have a feeling that you would have a much better experience over what you had with the twin. The odd box and Deadweald duality dx work great with the ultra. Or you can forego the boost and get great chugs on channel two using the morph. I found the ultra easy to dial in. Anyway, great to see you revisiting amps. 🤘
Thank you very much. I'd absolutely love to try one of those. Hopefully I get a chance to do that
I actually like the raw open character of this amp. I see what you mean about the tone stack, though. I wonder how if it's similar to the new Uber ultra in terms of the weird tone stack.
This is the mystery of the amp ‼️
Through my prs fatback it literally sounds like a top of the line Marshall super lead. It screams voodoo child.
Through my regular custom 24 it sounds atrocious.
Through an esp with bone breakers it’s interesting and very cky quiet bitter beings sounding.
Through my Kramer Baretta at under $200…it’s phenomenal and it makes it sound like 6,000k guitar?
Yes. I don’t get it but the point I’m trying to make is that it’s super sensitive to the guitar. I remember when i first tried it i tried a super cheap esp at the shop that was selling it and it sounded exactly like the first Rammstein album to the T.
Sounds like a metal zone!
Try Original Überschall that much better then twin jet version, more full and saturated.
Really look forward to a Tone Wars review of the new Bogner Uber Ultra. Please make this happen.
Thanks for commenting. I'm definitely working on that. Hopefully they get back with me
I’m actually waiting for your review of the Uber Ultra before I pull the trigger on buying one. Cheers Jarrod and thanks for your amp reviews.
@@brandonwhitehawk5104 that really means a lot. Thank you for commenting. I will do my best to get ahold of one of those for you and everyone else
I never got to play the Twin Jet, but I owned a rev blue and it was SO damn awesome. Weird EQ definitely, but it was a total beast. I let mine go because I tend to like a bit of versatility and the Ubers really aren't about that at all...they are straight-in, plug and play amps
I love the Uberschall and it's vatiants.
Bogner uses logarithmic pots, so don't be afraid to dime a control to get the sound you're after.
I worked at a shop that sold Bogner amps, and one of my buddies was friends with Reinhold. I learned a ton about the amps from him, and dialed in correctly with the right guitar and pickup combination they sound insane.
Everything is highly interactive, and every control effects the rest. It's a great tone tweakers amp, but they take some time to dial in.
Bogners are awesome IMHO, but they're definitely not a set everything to noon and make mild adjustments to get a good sound type of amp.
Do you know if the new Uberschall ultra is any different from this? The twin jet sounds good but the new one seems to have more options and features
@@benpotter4905 yeah, it has several modifications. One of them being a density control for the power amp section which is basically a negative feedback control focused on the midrange giving you controls for low, mid, and high on the power amp stage.
Also, each change now has bright and bottom switches, as well as a voicing switch. Channel 2 has a clean, crunch, and Uber mode switch, and channel 1 has a crunch, Uber, and ultra mode switch Ultra mode has 7 gain stages if I remember right. Channel one also has a Metamorph knob that changes the EQ structure of the amp, to the left it's more classic Uber and to the right it's tighter with more aggressiveness and cut.
Reinhold really outdid himself trying to make the amp more versatile and make it so it has even more options for high gain tones.
@@PistolsPlayground does it do the classic hot rodded Marshall style thing and have good cleans? I know how dangerous the Uber sound is. My next amp will either be this or a Friedman be 100 deluxe. Not really sure.
@@benpotter4905 in crunch mode it does a good hotrodded JCM-800 approximation.
If the hotrodded Marshall thing is primarily what you're chasing then it's hard to beat a Friedman.
If you dig the Bogner tone and are wanting to really focus on the hotrodded Marshall tones, but also want to have access to ridiculous gain the Bogner Helios Eclipse is an awesome amp. The Eclipse mode has a shit ton of gain while capitalizing on the amps molded Marshall circuit.
If you can find a Helios Eclipse and a BE-100 locally, it would be worth spending some time having a shoot out between them.
@@PistolsPlayground alright. I have been told to check out the Be-100 deluxe, ecstasy, Uber ultra. So I am primarily a groove / death metal player but want something to do the thing and other things. I really prefer a refined style of sound. I get unsure of Friedmans capabilities without having the gain dimed with a boost on. That is a $4,000 amp. I definitely need to see more metal examples of said amp instead of AIC and classic rock examples.
It's not just you I bought a bogner and could never find settings i liked. I would think i got it sounding ok and turn it on the next day and be unhappy again.
Thanks for commenting. Yeah, this amp is just really weird and I can't trust what the knobs are doing. Hopefully they fix that issue with the new version
I haven't ever heard a demo of this thing that I thought sounded good which is the opposite of the regular uberschall which I always thought was weird. Regarding the knobs my Rivera KR7 is the same way, I end up fiddling with the knobs more than playing it so I just don't really use it.
Michael nielsen has a video showing this amp off very well
Great video ! yeah that thing would be a pain in the Ass for me it needs some better pots.
Where is your FX level control set? Those volume settings out front should squeeze heads!
3:00 if memory serves
@@TONEWARSgearshow Really lean on the treble knob on the lead channel. It acts as a “size” control. 3:00 on.. you can really dial the overall amount of bite in conjunction with the global presence.
Amp LOVES front end input.
Boost Karen out! 🤣
The Leviathan stole the Twinjets lunch money
Haha agreed
Yeah, I'd pass on that amp. What justifies the price being so damn high?? Soo many better options out there.
ua-cam.com/video/GMgsNIBtPm8/v-deo.html
This video is the only time I've seen this amp dialed in right.
What you need to do:
- Depth ALL THE WAY UP.
- Mids almost all the way down.
The amp has sooooooo much natural mids, that it sounds weird compared to any other high gain amp, unless you do the steps mentioned before.
Marshalls can be raw and open, do they sound bad? You are being too polite, that's it :P
Most Bogners share the same congested, thick mids and I think it is love or hate thing.
imho Ecstasy 101B is the most musical and tightest, normal sounding Bogner I have played, perfect for rock, hard rock, metal not so much.
I would actually say EVH 5150 III 100W normal version is like a metal version of Ecstasy (not exactly the same, but the most similar amp I have played).
Uberschall sounds slightly nicer - darker, but still it is a dark-thick-mid-sizzle going on. So while Ecstasy lacks the gain or bass of Uberschall, it just kicks more imho and sounds "normal". Anyway the internet is full of crap and hype and guitar myths, there is nothing wrong with the fact you don't like some amps.
Alotta money for an amp that can sound that bad.
It's because Katie 88 isn't a good tube for guitar amplifiers
J rod get your hands on a bogner uber ultra and be prepared to keep it when you get it and you actually don't need a boost with the Uber ultra but i know you will 🤘. The twin jet was Bogner's biggest flop ever.i almost got one and glad i didn't.
Thanks for commenting. I'm hoping to get my hands on one sometime in the near future.
Channel one was better IMHO!
Fun video but you need to get your hands on the Uber Ultra to completely change your mind about that lineage of amps
Indeed and you actually don't need a boost with the Uber ultra
Skill issue?
Do you agree with Glenn Fricker that all tube amps kinda sound the same when cranking the gain up?
Not really. They're all voiced differently. There's always going to be some similarities but there's definitely differences regarding voicing, texture, aggression, tightness, looseness, and how the mids sit in the tone stack
That guy is an idiot. He uses too much gain and wonder why everything sounds the same.
