    This is the only video I've seen on the subject that actually addresses the issue step by step rather than using just vague gerneralizations. Thank you.

    Behavioral questions actually are useful. They seem to anger a lot of people, but it's really just learning where they came from.... and how they work.

      The only bad thing about BBI is that you don't know if that person is telling the truth or not . If you're a good bullshiter and quick witted, you'll be good .

      @@markj3175 well that is why we agree that interviews are not 💯% sure ways of hiring top talents. So if I believe I'm a top talent I would rather prepare like you are doing now, watching Peggy, and not let any bullshitter come ahead of me lol

    Also, these behavioral questions begin with "Tell me about a time when...." or "Give me an example of a time......blah, blah, blah." Also, provide answers with "STAR" statements. Be concise with your answers. She is giving an example of a "STAR" statement (what is the "SITUATION" or "TASK" -- what "ACTION" was taken and how the issue was "RESOLVED").

    Oh, I wish you would have addressed the parts where they want to hear about your failures dealing with conflicts with a boss or coworkers, adversity and pushback. from the people you were hired to help within your own team, not just with an irate customer.

    I never liked these kind of questions. First of all most of the questions don't really apply to me-I've never experienced that particular situation. So what am I supposed to do? Make something up?

    • @mj62mj62
      @mj62mj62 10 років тому +1

      If you haven't had a situation involving serious conflict then use the chance to sell yourself. "I havent been in that type of situation but I did have a situation in which and ".

    • @RebelTheRealRebel
      @RebelTheRealRebel 10 років тому +2

      Most people will experience conflict in life in general, if you don't have an occupational example to discuss, use your personal life. How did you handle a conflict with a friend, as a mediator between friends, or a a teacher. Most likely you've had conflict with a relative. Real life is where we learn how to handle these situations not on a job. They are always valid and welcome instead of looking like a deer in headlights.
      What happened? How did you handle being confronted? Were you ever defensive or combative? Dismissive or compassionate? If you handled it badly, but genuinely learned from your own behaviors that will say a lot about your ability to communicate and capacity for growth as a person.

    • @RebelTheRealRebel
      @RebelTheRealRebel 10 років тому

      You can also role-reverse. Was there ever a situation where YOU were the irate customer and someone handled your issue effectively and with grace? Did you leave feeling a million times better? Talk about how that person really left an impression on you and that you remembered exactly what they did or said to disarm you, and how you hope to one day be able to diffuse a situation with that kind of skill. Or some shit like that. ;) There are so many ways it can still be used to reflect who you are under pressure.

    I wish I could just pull a number and get the job all this is too much the go online and never hear back, the crazy interview tactics that won't really describe who somebody really is and the resume hounds that care more about how its formatted than the information that it provides. I would almost rather stand on a corner with a sign than go threw this.

    I agree completely. Whoever came up with this interview technique needs to have very bad things happen to them. It's not geared towards people qualified for the JOB, it's geared towards people who are natural bullshit artists.
    I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that you don't ever have to go through this crap again. If you ever do and you do decide to walk out, bring a hidden camera with you and put it on youtube to show the world how ridiculous it all really is.

    Try to calm down an angry truck driver who called for roadside service at midnight with a flat tire (whom gets paid by the mile) and then hand them an invoice for $800 for services performed after hours... People take a lot of crap from customers and wonder why there is a shortage of decent employees working for peanuts.

    • @SlayerofFiction

      the problem is EMployers no longer stand behind their employees. If you want a good employee, you show them that within reason, you support them.
      I did so and had ferociously loyal employees, which transferred over to a great customer base.
      Then I bought a different company lol
      Now I am looking for work with stupid goddamn behavioral shit in a competitive marketplace of assholes with PHDs trying to justify their existence with this silly fucking shit.
      Blue collar guys are easy "hey man I got bills too, wife was bitching at me last night, no sleep and the boss is an asshole, and here you are yelling too" bam he calms down and you are good to go.
      White collar? Well the pretentious pricks think they are god so your fucked.
