I recently took delivery of my refreshed M3 LR in stealth grey black interior🎉🎉 First EV. I love this car!! It is absolutely fast, gorgeous, comfortable, quiet more refined. I love the tech and minimalism. I embrace the stalkless design it's futuristic. The car is very fun to drive

@@Boutthemvols Sorry to tell you, but Tesla hasn't finished compiling/validating FSD for HW4 in 2024 M3. No date of when it will available. Typical Tesla, they didn't tell me either. Would have kept my 2019 until they were done.
Hi Ryan - I also changed my 21 Model 3 LR too the Highland in Ultra Red - I absolutely love it & it's a step change from the previous version - much quieter, better suspension but I went for LR as the sound is incredible but mainly for AWD. It's an amazing bit of kit - love it!!
thanks for leaving this comment, i bought all weather floor mats for old model 3 last year when i was planning to order the car, then i ended up ordering the refreshed version, been wondering rather it will fit, wouldn't know what to do with them if they don't fit, lol.
As I am considering getting rid of my 2021 Model Y Long Range to save some money, I am hoping to get the new 2024 Model 3 RWD version. I've watched a dozen reviews about this car and your review is the best I've seen. Such an in depth and comprehensive review, I feel comfortable now in making my decision to make the switch. Thanks for doing such a great job on this review.
On AC, one thing important upgrade you missed is the fact that passenger can stop the air flow on his side by tapping the screen. Major upgrade as on my model3 2021 that wasn’t possible and led to "discussions" with my wife as how much air flow is required, rarely on the same view on that specific point :))
LOL! I’ve had this on every car I’ve owned for at least 15 years. How hilarious that Tesla is just now getting it. And they still can’t get auto-wipers right, which again, works perfectly on every car I’ve owned for many, many years! 😂
You can charge a long range to 80% which is 272Miles, same as 100% on Base model. With Long Range Model: 1. You have more range 2. You have less charging time, as the speed of Super charger drops significantly at 80% (Meaning, you can charge a long range, faster than the standard range to get 272 miles) 3. You have dual motor (More stability) 4. You have faster acceleration
Maybe the M3/3+ are subtly different from the MY, but I have found my MY RWD LFP charges from 80% to 100% much faster than a MY LR I rented recently. I was disappointed with the way the LR throttled down in the last 20%. Also, the LR efficiency was lower (may be my right foot) than the RWD,
I honestly think once regions give the green light for FSD, Tesla should bring the enhanced autopilot features to the base then just charge for FSD or make that new combined package like 1k. I still enjoy driving the car so wouldn't want to go all out for full fsd, but on the motorways auto lane change is such blessing
Oscar Peterson Trio - yeah! You are a great content creator. Thank you for your clear, thorough, and detailed presentations. Both your drumming and Tesla info is much appreciated.
We picked up our M3RWD 2024-03-26 here on Vancouver Island, in Canada. 🇨🇦 We ordered Floor mats ahead of time (from Tesla) to be ready and... it came with floor mats. So we have a spare set to swap out when they get dirty. We also got Mud flaps on the front wheel well installed on the car. We're also wondering when we've will we get the 1 month Free FSD Trial/ Update?
It came with floor mats? You mean carpet mats right? I’m getting mine within 2-3 weeks (also Vancouver Island, Victoria specifically) and I purchased a full set of XPE mats from Taptes that will hopefully arrive before my car does. Everything I saw online said the Highland didn’t come with TPE/XPE/rubber mats and for me I wanted that level of protection. P.S. I too am very curious when the Highland/CT “vision-only” Teslas will finally get access to FSD, as I did purchase it :)
Upgraded 3 weeks ago from 2018 3 LR white seats. Got a LR in black with white seats. A few misses with refresh are in no particular order, cup holder to tight. I drink out of soda cans and I’m crushing them trying to pull them out. Still no rear camera cleaning. 2-3 point turns with shifter is a bit of a pain. Bottom line is, if my problems are these few things I have a great car.
I stuffed my stock 2023 model y floor mats into my 2024 3 and you can make that work. Also the SR is limited to 170kw charging while the LR can take advantage of 250kw chargers from what others have said.
Doesn't really make much of a difference with the batteriycapacity differences and charging becomes slower after around 70% anyways, which is a piss break and grabbing a coffee really and you can go.
I daily drive a 2023 Model 3 RWD which has the same battery and drivetrain as yours. I know Tesla says to go ahead and charge to 100% every day if you want, but after listening to some battery experts in multiple lectures, I set mine to 80% for daily use. I only charge it to 100% once per week as is recommended by Tesla documentation. These batteries are very resilient, so it may not matter to most since they degrade very slowly, but I drive 50k miles per year and want this thing to last forever if possible. I have over 15k miles on it so far and am still showing over 99% battery capacity. This seems to be a percentage point or two better than what I’ve seen from other LFP models with this mileage. I’ve also charged 24% on superchargers in that time, so it’s not just L2 charging. If you can daily them at 60-80% max charge, maintain SOC between 20-80% , and only charge to 100% once per week, I think they’ll last an insanely long time.
What do you think of the white interior? Did you choose black simply for personal preference? I always wanted to choose the white interior and I don't know why almost nobody takes it. I heard it was very easy to clean up with baby wipes so the cleaning part doesn't scare me that much
I’ve placed two dome resin buttons, 1/2” sizes, on top of the turning buttons. Now i can feel them without looking, at least most of the time. Works pretty good.
Just picked up my Model 3 RWD 4 days ago. Super quiet and smooth, great range and efficiency from the LFP battery. The stalkless design just clicked with me and finding the drive very easy.
There are loads of floor mats available for the new Model 2024 range, including hundreds of additional add-ons through multiple global vendors. Is that what you meant?
I have to say that the phone key issue is the one thing over time I’ve had issues with that is particularly annoying! The random windshield wiper is generally funny unless you have a lot of dead bugs on the windshield?!?! I believe that the main problem with the phone key issue is the phone itself…?
Yes my Samsung S20 has issues each time the software updates on the phone and sometimes on the Tesla. You can put a wiper on the lower tray which offers you four speeds and auto. Speed 1 is off, 2 is intermittent, 3 is on normal speed and 4 is max. I found this quite useful when driving in the UK recently with all the different types of rain they have:)
I have mine for 2 weeks now. It came with regular carpet mats. The tires came with higher pressure and the steering is slightly misaligned. I also feel a slight vibration on the steering wheel when increasing speed. I hope it's just the steering misalignment or the higher tire pressure and not also faulty tires that I know it's happening to some people. Other than that I'm loving the car.
This was your best review yet Ryan!! Way to keep everything as honest and unbiased as possible, and so detailed! Been a subscriber since you first started out!! Keep killing it brotha!! 🙌🏻🌊🔥🍀
I have one in New Zealand with driver sitting on right side, we drive on left side of road. The steering wheel layout is the same as yours with indicator switches on the left side of the steering wheel. We go through roundabouts turning right, this puts the indicator switches placed roughly at 10 oclock on the wheel. Its very convenient. Im thinking for America its at 6 oclock position which must be not so convenient.
Could be the phone. I have problems with my Samsung S20 every time either the Tesla or the Samsung updates its software. First time it happened, Tesla suggested I un-pair and re-pair my blutooth and it usually works. i understand the US is 80% apple, so Android might be less sorted.
Honestly, I want the updated Model Y performance… but seems that’s going to be a while. I am thinking to lease the new model 3 performance 2-3 years. Then look to the model Y Performance or Rivian R2 perhaps.
The climate control option for the back seats are a little overstated to me. You can change where the vents point , you can turn off and turn on heated seats but I thought the back seat would have its own temperature control option. You aren’t able to do so. Maybe I’m just silly with what I thought but maybe I’m not alone. Also fsd is amazing. I’m shocked on how well it works. The stalks and indicator removal for me was not a big deal and he is right I have grown to prefer it
I got tired of waiting for the refresh Model Y and jumped on huge discount on a 2024 Model Y LR (Ultra Red) and traded my 2021 Model Y LR that never had any major issues. While most things are the same between the model years, there is a very noticeable difference (improvement) in the road noise, ride quality and overall fit and finish. The New Model Y feels much more refined than previous years and has no squeaks or rattles. The seats also feel like they have more padding and bolstering. The one area that is not as good is the sound quality; may be a problem specific to my vehicle, but trying every adjustment, the sound fidelity is not as good as my 2021 Model Y. Time will tell, but so far, I like what I'm seeing in current Tesla build quality.
I often have alternating front seat passengers. The seat position between my wife and my son are very different. I would really appreciate memory presets for front seat passengers. Both go through a tedious exercise if following the other and the settings need readjustment every time. Seems a simple thing to solve and add to the main screen somewhere.
Thx Ryan! Great review as always! Had the same problem as you with my iPhone and M3LR not recognizing each other. I just deleted my iPhone and added it back and it has been fine now for numerous weeks. Otherwise, no issues at all! Love the quiet interior, a high level of quality for sure and the speed! TY
I also got std range RWD like Ryan but in Australia where we get floor mats included which is great. I too wish I got option to include 17 speakers too
Could you compare the ride noise/physical comfort/drive-ability of this new Model 3 and the Model S. I know it is unfair to compare, but could you? (I am trying to decide between the two.) Thanks
Great review. Love that you keep it real. My Audi e-tron was written off by insurance after a relatively minor crash. So I just leased the same vehicle you reviewed here. I was floored when I test drove it, at how many improvements it has. I came back to the dealer and just assumed I was driving the LR version because this feels so quick. Was shocked to hear that this was the RWD. With the lease rates plus the $7,500 credit on those, this is a no brainer. Hopefully my experience this time will be better than my experience with the 2020 Model Y 3 years ago. I’m pretty confident it will be.
I got a 2024 model 3 standard range and it came with floor carpets as well as front mud flaps pre-installed. Im in Canada, so not sure if that's why there's a difference.
Tesla should have upped the driving ranges, and made the standard model have a minimum of 412 miles @ 100% charge. Ranges need to come up significantly to sway more buyers.
Indicator buttons are not a problem at all on roundabouts. Just keep both hands on the steering wheel. I did a test drive going through some 15-20 tight roundabouts, and never missed a turn signal. But the real question is, which one is a better buy: new M3 or a used 2020 Model S "Raven" LR? :) Here at least there is no meaningful price difference anymore.
@ryanshawtech does the windshield washer fluid reservoir finally take a full gallon or are you still left with a little in the bottle after topping it off? My biggest pet peeve with the model 3s I’ve owned.
Thank you for pointing out two irritations in Tesla cars: 1. The poor parking sensor system and 2. The squeaks inherent with plastic to plastic snap together construction. I hope Tesla pays attention to your critique. I drive a 2023 Model Y and am surprised Tesla allows these minor flaws to detract from an otherwise tremendous product.
Ryan, do you use the Model 3 for carrying your drums? I'm a drummer as well - thinking that the Model Y would be the logical choice for me. I generally play a small jazz kit for gigs. Thanks for your valuable content.
Ryan could you plz amplify comments about models that have and do not thru 2024 have the better lfp battery, you indicated it is only available on standard model 3 but not extended range ? I only want lfp version in either models 3 or also have y heard anything about rv platform based on semi platform ?
Ordering with a Referral Link does not get you the 3 month trial of FSD. Confirmed with Tesla sales that there are currently NO incentives with the refreshed M3. It may not even qualify for the "Musk" 30 day trial.
Hi Ryan, love your contents and great videos. What you buy if you were me. No home charging, Model Y or Model 3. What range? Please help, this would be my first EV ever. Thank you
Hey, Ryan. Another great video. How long can you keep the car at 100% charge before you leave and drive? Should it be driven right away, or can it sit overnight at 100%?
I have the same build as you but from China, as I live in Australia. We get floor mats included on the SR and also covers under the speakers in the rear parcel shelf (which are missing on yours). Do you know if the standard autopilot will change to the new AI engine used in FSD 12 soon?
Can you talk about what’s happening with, new model 3 white interior delays please ? I order mine in January 10 and the expected delivery is may 13 - jun 12
The Bluetooth Phone Key thing is an issue. It's done it to me 5 times now. Twice it required me to unpair and repair it. I can tell it broke because it won't play my audiobooks or the audio shuts off when the phone screen goes dark. If the Tesla SC set your phone up. You SHOULD try to unpair it and learn how to pair it again. Or it'll be frustrating.
Like everything except the lack of the turn stalk, because you can’t just wave away the problem with roundabouts. Not being certain about indicating correctly will lead to accidents.
Really like this car. As a first time Tesla buyer the experience has been atrocious due to my EDD being delayed 9 times because of the white interior. I ordered this same color exterior with white interior. I'm really considering cancelling my order despite how much I enjoyed my overnight demo drive. I can oick up the black interior tomorrow if I want. Actually could've been had a black interior a few months ago.
i have the refreshed 2024 model 3 also, with enhanced autopilot. I can't seem to get fsd beta though, the button is greyed out. Is FSD available for this car yet?
I’ve been driving my new 2024 M3 LR. The sound system is incredible. The ride is confident and smooth. My last EV was a Chevy Bolt EUV, which I liked but the M3 makes the Bolt look bad in comparison.
I have this same issue using my phone as key where randomly it will not work. I have to restart my phone. If I unlock in the Tesla App, I have to use my key card to drive. It does not recognize my older Pixel Android phone for driving unless I fully restart the phone. This started with a more recent update in the past few months. It is super annoying.
My wife's Model Y fights between our profiles. It is pretty consistent for which profile it picks based on who is driving, but almost always has the wrong phone as the media device over bluetooth. Anyone else have that trouble? The "priority device" option never seems to stick to a certain profile but rather overall.
Does anyone know where to get accessories for the 2024 M3? I want screen protectors (esp for the back one in case people kick it when getting in and out). I would also like floor mats, etc
I never had a model 3 before this is my first. I owned a 2021 model y previously. Now when I compare my 2024 model y and the model 3 I do think the model 3 is more quiet but not as much as everyone seems to be claiming in my opinion. I haven’t been driven in the back seat but I do feel like driving both cars they are similar in noise reduction since both front windows are double glassed. Ride quality over bumps are better on model 3. But compare to model y because of the difference in height it becomes closer in comparison. I will say maybe model 3 older vs newer might be a much larger difference but I will say test drive it so you can decide for yourself. Also the back seats itself are comfortable but the feet positioning is terrible. You can barely get your feet under the front seats and the way you sit in the back leaves a large than normal gap between your thigh and the actual seat.

interesting! But i feel ike it could break if enough force/weight is applied?

How do you feel about leg room? I tried it , didn’t feel comfy to drive. I’m 6 f
Is Sirius XM available for it? I test drove the Standard and Long Range, and I have to get use to not having the stalks.
Was waiting for the Y but damn the new M3 is sharp looking. Wish it qualified for the federal rebate
The Model 3 Performance may qualify ⚡️😎
What did you do to your old model 3?
I too wish I got option to include 17 speakers too
As you pointed out, if you have a vehicle/s in addition to the M3, it's difficult to switch between the two.
Just curious, Is there still option to purchase faster 0-60?
While maybe a bit unfair, if possible, how would you compare. the ride quality of your new Model 3 to ride quality to an older Model S?
Seems like the standard range comes with full premium interior (sound) in Canada most likely as they are coming from Shanghai.
Hey Ryan great video. Just wondering if you had a headliner / ceiling sunshade or if that is the tint from the glass roof?
Like everything except the lack of the turn stalk, because you can’t just wave away the problem with roundabouts. Not being certain about indicating correctly will lead to accidents.
Looks great, want the rear dbl glass in my late '21! ALSO HAVING SAME BT ISSUES YOU HAVE RECENTLY...
Just started rolling out yesterday
Ryan reboot your phone. Works for me when I have issues opening the doors
I thought the steering on the new 3 was vague even in sports mode compared to previous
Is the card / key water proof ?
I’ve been driving my new 2024 M3 LR. The sound system is incredible. The ride is confident and smooth. My last EV was a Chevy Bolt EUV, which I liked but the M3 makes the Bolt look bad in comparison.
Tesla website charges extra for floor mats on the Long Range. May trade in my 2019 LR for the new one
My 2021 LR is now not opening when I come near and have to use the phone app.
Does this tesla as quality build issues like the old one ?
Another review had passengers windows not working because the connector wasn't made. Suggest you check, cause not like they do.
Does anyone know where to get accessories for the 2024 M3? I want screen protectors (esp for the back one in case people kick it when getting in and out). I would also like floor mats, etc
Another great vid sir 😊
I have a 2019 M3 Standard having that same issue with the phone key unlocking, think its something with the new updates Tesla been pushing out.
You can barely get your feet under the front seats and the way you sit in the back leaves a large than normal gap between your thigh and the actual seat.
it still looks pretty bumpy, i see you bobbling up and down, how much less bumpy is it? i’m asking because i’m hating my Y, it’s way too bumpy
I am wondering if it hurts the battery when the LR is charged slowly to 100% - any experiences?
NMC Li-Ion don’t like being empty or full, charge speed doesn’t matter for this in particular.
Why is the range so different than the UK spec
Is it because of where you are in the world or are US miles different to UK miles
UK is using WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light vehicles Test Procedure) rating
and US is using EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) rating
Incredible car! 👍 We love ours.
