I purchased a new Model 3 recently. I've watched several videos for new owners but this is hands-down the very best. I'll be watching it several more times. Thanks Ryan.
Tesla is the best car company ever! No gas stations, No oil changes, No smog checks, No maintenance, Cheapest to own, Most reliable, Safest, 87% customer retention and quicker than a $650,000 Lamborghini!
I took delivery of a new model 3 5 days ago....your video is excellent and a must see for any new owner. Thanks for your hard work in producing this excellent video! I will have to watch it several times to learn all of the features of this amazing machine.
An important tip for M3H owners, is to know the non screen PRND controls are the buttons on the ceiling above the centre mirror. These are easy to miss because they don’t light up unless touch them. However they are critical to be able to drive the car when the screen is unavailable. Speaking of which, you can reboot the centre screen at any time by holding down both the left and right scroll wheel. I mostly do this when the car loses internet connectivity
This is a super video and I’m going to save it for friends that just got the first Tesla. One thing you sort of missed was about how the schedules are location based. I have a 2018 Model 3 AWD and failed to notice this myself for a while. It means you can set your Tesla to precondition before you leave for work at home and separately for when you leave for home at work. It’s an awesome feature for those of us who live in colder climates.
Very informative and well done! New 2024 M3 owner. My biggest complaint is the phantom-braking with Traffic-Aware Cruise Control. 19:11 It is so bad at times my wife makes me turn cruise control off. It only takes one sudden braking to jar the occupants!
Your video is incredibly informative and offers a wealth of essential tips for first-time Tesla drivers. I’m planning to get my first Tesla model 3 soon.
Option that would be great, the ability to expand the turn signal POP-UP WINDOW to full screen size. Also, if the flashing red bar for a lane change obstruction was larger, like having the red flash across the entire turn signal window, not just the thin red bar at the side. Both would enhance safety, and be nice additions.
This was helpful, thanks. I could see some additions or a voice commands episode. I set up my other USB stick I bought to be a music folder by having two partitions one for Tesladrive and a folder Teslacam then another for Media. and then I use the voice command "Open USB Stick" which allows access to all the songs on my media partition.
I like the hold down scroll wheel tip. Would be good if there were multiple options like hold down, double click, triple click to have multiple options available
You can also activate N by hitting the manual gear button up above the mirror. If you push the plastic above the mirror the different gears will appear. Also works great if your screen freezes.
Excellent video. I watched Jeremiah’s before this and almost didn’t watch yours. But I’m glad I did. It is much more comprehensive and it is clear that you know more about the car. You are more thorough, he’s more off the cuff.
Love mine as well. Had since April. Just have to be aware of the Lowish clearance using some driveways and some speed humps. Great software and regular updates, even though I’ve never had an issue that needed fixing. But love all the tweaks and additions they include with many updates.
One thing I've noticed that no one is mentioning about the auto trunk open feature, is that it only works with an iPhone 11 or newer. I bring this up because I don't want to assume that everyone has an iPhone11 or newer (like me using an old Xr lol) Thanks for your vids!
The Tesla Model Y refresh coming soon is very similar to the Model 3 but has a bit larger interior. May work better for your family. Lots of referral codes around as well for $1000 off, so look for one when you buy.
I am a Tesla owner for over an year. While the software features are cool it generally has an inferior build quality and suspension compared to other luxury brands. I feel like I paid a lot only for Tech and driving (auto steer/ auto pilot) comfort but the car feel itself
The tech is important to me esp FSD and autopilot. Don’t think any other car manufacturers have this level of tech. The car actually improves after the day you own it, other cars stay basically as is. Think carefully b4 going for others. Model Y may suit family better because of its height n slightly roomier.
It’s going to sound cliche but the model Y Long Range is really the winning combo. Better than Kia and other manufacturers. Better, performance, reliability, storage, infotainment, charging network, fsd.
Ryan, Thank you for this. I know there are videos out there that explain features and how to. But they seem to be dated. I have followed Tesla for years but never driven one. This was great for those of us that would like to get in and just go. most how to videos forget that this driving experience is still new or foreign to the grater population. one request for your next video is to point or circle the screen when you say "the temp will increase or decrease" I'm not sure where to look on that giant screen when you say that. Keep up the great work!!
Hi. Nice Video. I’m a little confused. Your car seems to have the “advanced autopilot” because normally the automatic lane change is an additional feature which is not included in the standard autopilot could you maybe check this? 🙏
Very good informations thanks! I am driving the model 3 2024 since august and love it.... A question: I configured the left scroll wheel to record a video from the cameras... How do I transfer a video to my computer for example.. Take the usb stick out is the only option? It is so difficult to reach it with my big hands LOL!!!
one note about automatic cruise control. If you set it to "current speed" instead of "speed limit" you will reduce the likelihood of phantom breaking. So I always put it on "current speed". Then you can always adjust it with your scrolling button.
3:31 I'm just guessing here but I would believe that the reason they have the backseat hidden so much is because using the manual system is more damaging on the door over time and you wouldn't want any passengers that you may have if you use a rideshare service constantly using that.
I have had my 2024 model Y for 3 months and find it the most difficult car to park. Every time you park the system tells you Parking sensors degraded. Great message to get on a brand new car. I notice Ryan never talks about the lack of parking sensors and how much it sucks. Lastly music sounds great in my model Y. It is too bad they force you to use a streaming service for your music which then requires enhanced connectivity which has a monthly fee. I just wish I could control my bluetooth music through the cars system like every other car in the world.
You should check in with a service center- I got a model y 24 AWD (w/FSD) in May and I have no issues parking or with the cameras being degraded- and the rare times I do see a message of the cameras being degraded (think of inclement weather and certain direct sun issues) the car still handles FSD and park assist/auto park very well.
I have no issue with controlling my Model Ys music through Bluetooth. I will be honest, I do like the premium connectivity that allows you to use your music app through the cars entertainment system.. Fun fact, use the wifi from your phone instead of the premium connectivity offered for your car...
Hi Ryan, is the sentry mode recordings preview exclusive to the Model 3? Or is it a setting? I own a Model Y for a little over a month, but this feature does not appear in the Tesla app on my iPhone. However, I can view the camera's live in the app. Another great and informative video! Keep it up!
When you first enter your car the screen is split between your car and your navigation screen. Is there a way to remove the default navigation to just the full car as I dont use navigation 90% of the time, my commute never changes so I find it silly it has to always be swiped right to get rid of it each and every drive. Thoughts?
I own a 2022 M3LR and would love to get acceleration boost upgrade. Can you recommend how I can get the points I need on Tesla app to get this feature?
I finally ordered my new highlander, can you tell me regarding charging. Currently my 2021 I use 80% model, should my new do the same or 100? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Mahalo Adam
How odd. This morning I was thinking that if I actually get a Tesla, I’ll need to find a good video to show me how to use all the options. Bang, this video shows up on my recommendations before I did a search.
Lift gate opening adjustment should for sure be the first thing a new owner should adjust on a model Y. It can hit even the tallest garage doors. It opens really high. It’s why you see so many dented model Y hatches in Irvine. 😅
Ryan, great video. When trip planning, I’d like to see all superchargers on my route and then decide which ones to stop at. Alternatively, I’d like to specify the battery percentage that triggers a supercharger. We much prefer 35% to 20% for example. Why is this so difficult to do? Thanks!
3:20 I think they made it less obvious in the back so it's not used by accident. Almost everyone that got in my model 3 wanted to pull the manual handle of the passenger side to open the door instead of pushing the button for it. I had to explain it when someone was trying to reach that handle but I can't really do that for the passengers in the back. I'm glad the manual way to open the door is hidden in the back so I know my passengers wont use it all the time and dammage the windows or the roof sealing
I want the blind spot camera to pop up on the screen on the appropriate side (left blind spot on the left side of the screen) (right blind spot on the right side of the screen )
You can also go into neutral or any gear using the backup gear shifter in the headliner between the front upper lights. Press the plastic on either side of the flasher button to illuminate the gear buttons.
I wish it had a feature to FINISH charging at a particular time, and it'll start whenever it needs to to hit that target. This would reduce the time the battery spends at a high state of charge.
Uuuuuuuh....that is a feature. Open the app, go to Schedule, Charging, Set a Charging Schedule and put in what time you want it to finish. You also pick what day's you'd like it to do that too.
@@blanejr1 But remember to not add a start time so it will estimate the time needed to finish at your chosen time. I have two Teslas charging in the garage, so I just set one of them to finish at 3 AM and one to finish at 7 AM. It works perfectly.

Right now, I believe it'll start charging at 10 PM even if it only needs 5%.
I transitioned from a 2018 Mazda 3 to a 2024 MYP about a week ago. I absolutely loved every aspect of my Mazda so I may be biased towards a bit of a stiffer suspension. But man that MYP is like butter on the road and is still tons of fun to drive. I prefer MYP suspension over my wife’s Kia Sportage as well.
I rented a Model 3 on Turo before I was scheduled to pick mine up so I can experience driving it in advance. I ended up having to cancel my reservation so on the day I picked up my Model 3, I sat in the dealership lot for an hour watching UA-cam videos on how to drive with regenerative braking so I didn't look like an idiot while driving off lmao.
@@nissan_skyline thats the smallest issue, I found it totally intuitive. My previous turo renter left all the settings in the worst possible state. Took me two days to get it right (normal) again.
Hello 😊 I follow you on UA-cam regarding Tesla. Great job you're doing there 👍🏻 I think you'll reach Tesla and Elon Musk faster and better than me. Can you submit a tip from me? I would like to suggest an improvement regarding the turn signal. Can you suggest that when driving with navigation, the car itself will activate the indicators on bends and roundabouts. This will in any case improve the driving experience for those who have cars without levers on the steering column. Can you convey this to Tesla and give me feedback if you get a response from them?
The auto steering is nice idea, but where I am in the UK the roads are so badly degraded where the markings are too faint for the cameras to pick up, it just can't work here. My Tesla violently swerved across the lane into an oncoming motorcyclist, forcing me to intervene. Fortunately, I do like driving anyway so it's not a bother to never use it again.
What it desperately needs is CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT whether you are in reverse or not. I don't understand why they haven't added it. 😢Every other non tesla car I have had has had it. Come on Tesla, install this in the next update. 😊
I'm new to Tesla and something I didn't like one bit I was sitting at a red light had FSD enabled in chill mode and the MY gunned it off the line when the light turned green like it was in a street race with the car next to me. I'm like woh, no street race going on here sir so please ease off the line. I don't know why I talked to it but I did.
My 2024 has it under the controls Menu or drag the wipers from the dot dot dot men to the Dock and it gives you a menu pop-up to control each level, Auto or off.
According to Elon Musk, we now know everywhere you go, everything you say and all the time in a Tesla, driving, charging etc., is recorded and cataloged. They have video of everyone at the charging stations, the conversations in the vehicles and all the telemetry of the vehicle and they can find you and your vehicle almost immediately. If that is how you want to live, have at it.

I think you meant to set the charging schedule from 9 PM to 4 AM, not 4 PM ... 😉
What it desperately needs is CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT whether you are in reverse or not. I don't understand why they haven't added it. 😢Every other non tesla car I have had has had it. Come on Tesla, install this in the next update. 😊
That would be FSD
Just got my first 3 a few weeks ago. Thanks for the tips Ryan.
Hey Ryan, who’s Luca? Can I give you my referral link too if you use all your referrals up?
I’m trying to move from my old 14 S into a new Y.
Old information, but thanks anyway.
Lemme control my wiper speed manually with scroll wheel instead of 4 preset speeds.
All outside shots were M3 but app suggests sneaky little upgrade.. did you?
