Badass! That is the craziest American Bass sub I've ever seen. I'm really feeling the yellow basket for somec reason too. Just awesome... not that i could lift it, but i love it.

Strictly n spl sub for sure. I bet it can take a good bit of abuse. I like fosgate, dd, old kicker n jl but those American bass are true to spec sometimes underrated!

Pheww what a monster... Ain cheap but whatever it's pretty stout. Basket kinda looks like a JL W7. Need some serious power to move that suspension a 6500w amp would not move it much you need actual 6500watts so a 12k would make it jump.
Boy was I ticked off I bought a american bass xr 12 d2 off ebay from a reputable seller and it came box had been opened sticker was removed and spec sheet.....but plastic around sub had never been removed nor did it look to have ever been outta the box ...someone just removed the sticker and spec sheet....sub plays well its nothing of the kings caliber but is a very nice sub ....sounds amazing ...but man was I ticked off about my sticker ....
I'm local to Bob and American bass, yet can't stand it. Bob hasent change a bit lol. He messed up and put way to many spiders on this sub. Yet creating a spl sub. If he would of changed it up. Dropping the fs now you're on to somthing.

I only buy their top tier products because they sell motors and frames cheaper than anybody else and then I just find soft parts as I go. Robot Underground (UA-camr) is helpful on rebuilding. I also use TheLordofBass.com

Ya you are not joking. They failed in that department. To be fair though, the motor is almost the exact same diameter as basket. I don't know if it would fit in hole with boot. Basket is 288mm, motor is 280mm

Not sure what you're getting at but I have American Bass Xmax 12 D2s in my truck currently. They are wired to 0.5 ohm on VFL Comp 8K amp. I have no problem with doing 150s and it sounds great doing it 🤔

The first brand i ran was Skar Audio and thought it was dope ...i bought a single VVX15 and a RP1500 and it slammed but i eventually upgraded to AB XFL 15 and a AB Amplifier that pushed 2k...but i started to realize how much all these companies are just cookie cutters and they all buy from the same few Chinese dealers ...AB made an amplifier that was identical to Skar Audio .. budget gem budget bust did a video on them....many of the subs i had wanted were all copies of another design...i come from the 90s were Fosgate was king and there was no such thing as cookie cutters and whatever the rating said on the box was under rated...so, i told myself if i got back into car audio i want nothing but quality which is why i run all Tru Technology Amplifiers but i am switching over to stereo ingrity amps and speakers..i learned how to tune and bought a DSP abd umik2 mic ..i have ran everything from zapco, sinfoni, abyss, morel, rebec, mosconi,steg abd even McIntosh..all high end

I remember when I bought my MTX 9500 back in the day 20 yrs ago it was mounted to 3/4” MDF . And that was a 80 lb sub .
Box will be double walled 0.75 inch plywood (1.5 inch thickness) and baffle will be quad so 3 inch thick
the old 9500s were beastly back then! Those and the Soundstream

With the bigger coils I would go 15s and 18s. The spider on 12 is way to small. Not gonna flex much
I would've gotten the 15" just because $50 difference isn't much. But the spider is the same diameter. It's just wider at the top.

I agree. My girl car has (2) XD 10s for $130 and VFL Comp 2k for $181. Hell you can buy 2 Xmax 12 or VFL Comp Signature 12 for $1300 😂🤷
