That's the information alpha or delta that the airport is giving you, it states which runway is being used, temperature, wind,... This has an own frequency on the radio so basically if you change frequency or shut down the radio it should stop. But if you want to keep it reallistic you should listen to it at least twice.

The lights to the left of some runways are called VASI, short for Visual Approach Slope Indicator. You indeed want to have 2 white, 2 red.
Easy way to remember what the lights mean: all white - fly all night, all red - you're dead.

Liberal Patriot they are called papis

DJ creeper Gamer you're right! VASI is the less precise version with only 3 lights. What we have here is a PAPI. Thanks for the correction.

I don't think "you die" when the PAPI shows 4 red (or 2 red). You can request Go-Around.

I have a joystick that I am using. Would love to get a yoke but have not really had the time or money to invest in a good one. I was using my keyboard for a couple years before I got a joystick and it was probably the best decision I ever made in relation to FlightGear. Hope this helps

Are you using the keyboard for the yoke? Or the mouse? Or a joystick?

I use a joystick. It generally gives more control than a keyboard but for my first 6 months the keyboard worked just fine

+Hair In a Jet Engine sure! I would say it's important to look on the wiki and look up stuff on UA-cam if you are curious about a certain aspect of it. But most of all just try new things, although you shouldn't do experiment in real life, Flightgear is a simulation so it's okay to mess up. Practice landing, taking off, navigating etc until you are comfortable with it. It takes a lot of time. With a keyboard, also understand that small adjustments can change a lot, especially when it comes to altitude. In terms of keeping it interesting while flying, I would recommend looking on the wiki for some well developed airports that have really cool scenery. Hope this helps!

It's also worth noting that even though I was able to land okay in that video, I am much better now because I practice. (Tip: the slower you can get without stalling when you are landing the better)

At the beginning I always flown with a Cessna (which is nothing bad) and did not understand anything. Now, 2 months later, I fly my 777 all around Europe and understood everything. I did it by Trial and Error and by Learning on UA-cam and The Flightgear Wiki. Also, dont play with keyboard, if you dont want to spend much money on a Joystick for Flight Sims, just use a regular Controller as you know them from any Play Station Etc. and bind it. I did it and it increased my Flying skills so much. Also, the Cessna 172p Skyhawk, your Beginner Aircraft is harf to control. Very easy is the Apm 20, but its Physics are not very realistic either. So go with a Robin Dr 400 or if you want to go bigger the MD 11 or the 777. Just try out everything. I know I am late, but maby I can still help anyone. Also sorry for my English, I am from Germany. If you want to to ATC in Flightgear, use OpenRadar. Sincerely😋😉
