We had one we bought used same color but not leather interior back in 1988 for my wife who had a Grand Prix that was two doors and too small, as we had three babies in car seats in the back, a 3 year old and one year old twins. We drove that car for six years and it rode like a dream, never had one issue with anything, only oil changes tires and a battery during those years. We bought a Taurus wagon, to replace it for all their stuff, soccer, hockey, etc.. and we got a good amount for it to boot. I really loved driving that car, family trips, outings, I kept it shining like new, clean as a whistle inside and out, it was a great car.
I have an '86. Owned it 19 years so far. Still has the original engine, transmission, rear end, and electric in-tank fuel pump for the multiport FI in which this was the 1st year of. 286k miles and counting! We take it off the road every winter here in central MA to keep the salt from destroying it. Ours doesn't have the optional cornering lamps, leather, or cassette radio, but it has the aluminum turbine wheels instead of the wire wheel covers.
inherited a 85 Grand Marquis Brougham from my Aunt going to need gas drained from sitting, maybe new starter solenoid, and fuel filter. Sat the last 5 years, mint! 12k miles, like new as been garage kept!
i just bought a very similar car that is the same midnight blue metallic. Mine is a 1989 with 67,000.0 miles but has the full Carriage roof Canvas top and 50th anniversary gold trim package in excellent condition.
you certainly dont see too many from this generation with leather seats unlike the 1992- 2011 models, and second these are rare even in the salvage yards as by now a lot of em are new appliances.
That's actually not true. I don't have access to the numbers, but I see many mid-'80s to 1991 Panthers with leather - even the wagons - way, way more than GM offered.

They were very popular cars at the time. This one looks great, well taken care of.
I was lucky to own 1985 and 1989 Mercury Grand Marquis LS. Both outstanding automobiles 🚘
