    My grandfather used to be an instructor on the Tu-154. He was military trained and flew fighters for about 7 years. He used to pull the blinds over the windshield of the copilot and make him land only on instruments regardless of day/night or visibility.

      No not good. Hierarchy and chastising in the cockpit has led to air disasters in the past with Captain's making poor decisions and co-pilots unable to override or question poor decisions. This happened in China. They have since re-trained their pilots and had to change the culture of hierarchy in the cockpit. Russia is unfortunately still lagging behind. Human factors.

      SMaze17 That was unreal, who doesn't want their pilot's screaming like bloody hell while landing? The captain needs IV Valium and a series of 100 colonics. You may have heard about the Aeroflot A320 crash with the captains young children sitting in the captain and 1st officer seats. Watch the 5 episodes of Airplanski, it's OK to carry your bottle of vodka on your flight to help you settle down a bit when things get on your nerves. Delays of 1-5 days, missed stops, grossly overloaded aircraft and supermacho former fighter pilots in the cockpit are routine.

    This appears to be a training flight. Conversation btw Instructor (on left seat) and Student goes smth like:
    I: don't fiddle this gddmn yoke like that - take it easy - hold your direction!
    ...
    I: when were you supposed to extend the slates?
    S: on 125
    I: when did you?
    S: umm... 110...
    I: BS! we were on 98 - now, bcz of your piloting, they gonna roast us all!

    They're landing at Novy Urengoi / Новый Уренгой in the north, Can see it on the chart :D at 2:14
    I recall a story of a crew from LOT that attempted to take off with 45* of flap set by accident. It lifted off after less than 800m at around 180-200km/h and whilst accelerating very slowly the plane was still controllable. Russian Engineering!

      Novo yeah, 154 is probably the most agile commercial airplane at low speed, the landing speed is always like 120-130kt, at same time still have a lot of control. This probably is the easiest plane to land manually.

      What's the problem with the airplane? When the yokes move alone at 6:22 they are likely being controlled by the engineer, and the FO is holding the yoke, so the captain one moves accordingly. The newspaper... as far as he's not reading it while landing, I don't think it's big trouble.

      @prg2766 tu 154 was very advanced airplane for its time. Actually the training captain was complaining why the trainee is unnecessary moving the yoke. Control surfaces on tu 154 when on autopilot and even when flying it manually are moved by the super advanced system(ABSU), according to the needs(of stable fly, demonstrated by captain vigorously miving the yoke hard left and right and telling that the plane is going straight - ABSU. One former Tu 154 pilot, now captain instructor on b737 described tuv154 is rock solid and uncomparable easier to fly than any b737 - Denis Okan you tube channel). Also this captain is complaining that tha trainee does not give commands for flaps, lights and that he is deviating from the landing profile.

    GA style GPS ...lol. One thing though, Russian Jets were built tough to land anywhere. When you can see an IL-62 land on a grass trip, you know they were bulletproof. The TU-154 was triple everything as well for short field operations from runways of dubious quality. The pilots were often ex-fighter jocks and they if you watch them land, they treat their ships like fighters - they swoop in, pull tight turns and push a steep final. These guys like a drink though but if you're landing in the middle of winter in snow storm, these are the guys you want at the stick.

Look at his arm: holding the yoke as to squeeze water from metal. It does not support student pilots, there is no reason to yell.

    Jeeze, Western ‘sterile’ aviation piloting seems a million miles away from the Russian style of aviating. 😂. It’s funny to watch, looks so chaotic, the 3 guys shouting over each, with real bells and buzzers.

    Our pilots are trained not worse, and sometimes better than the western. Here the problem in equipment is more. look at it KLr9sBqIm6A I don't know, whether you understand Russian but if you understand, likely it will be clear that it for the plane. ;)

      I think the douglas engineers painted the dc9 cockpit green because that color helps you to stay focused. An arts teacher told me something along those lines when she asked us why the schoolrooms were painted mostly un green. And the tupolevs,dc9s and my school walls have a very lookalike green

      Если не ошибаюсь штурман только поворачивает, а тангажом управляют именно пилоты

    • @Sergiy_Usp
      @Sergiy_Usp 2 роки тому

      @@user-mj5pb9gk6b, конечно у пилотов есть штурвал, но в полёте всегда включен автопилот (АБСУ), и самолётом управляют, воздействуя на АБСУ. В том числе и по тангажу - рядом с рукояткой "Разворот" есть колёсико "Спуск-подъём"; вращая его, штурман или командир плавно задаёт изменение высоты и темп этого изменения, например, при смене эшелона полёта, контролируя приборную скорость. Если же в полёте под автопилотом потянуть или толкнуть от себя колонку штурвала, произойдёт расцепление АБСУ по каналу тангажа, а если повернуть штурвал, то автопилот отключится и по каналу крена, естественно, с индикацией. Этот метод отключения АБСУ называется Пересиливанием автопилота.

    Absolute utter chaos in the cockpit. No alt. callouts, barely any checks, captain losing his rag with FO, bells going off on finals causing annoying and potentially dangerous distraction. No wonder they crash all the time.

    • @prg2766
      @prg2766 7 років тому +5

      The bells you hear at 7:52, 8:40, 23:52 and 24:33 are simply the marker beacons, present on most planes to help the pilots while landing. Nothing strange or particular on that. And you can hear the callouts on minutes 9 for the first landing and 24 - 25 for the second one. The other bell, that rings three short times on a row announces the autopilot being disconnected.

    • @bEEBO178
      @bEEBO178 7 років тому

      F Pi The tone of the captain is not condusive to good cockpit management. The FO sounded like he had been well and truly bollocked. Definite hierarchy between captain and FO which has doomed many a flight in the past. No place for it in the cockpit. The bells irrespective of their purpos are a distraction. Bells like that don't exist on western built aircraft. I appreciate that this is an ageing A/C.
