Wow. This takes me back to being there for this music in 1969. I saw them at the Denver Coluseum. I was young, and so was this music. This sounds so fresh, still.
Yes, we were. I was 18 in '75. Saw the Stones in Memphis that year. I've seen CS&N twice and Neil twice. But never all 4 together. This is a fine cd. My hidden gem? Sea of Madness!
They made such a big impact. My mom always talked about how they played Teach Your Children at her graduation in 1971, and everyone sang along to it. CSNY created magic.
18 degrees and windy here in the mountains; wood stove heating the house, and I find this gem to warm the soul. 4 guitars, 4 voices, 4 mics, LIVE! Ya get only one take to hit the right harmony, and they know it, and enjoy it - just listen to the fun they have after each song. Takes me back to that time, my 17th year - what a time for great music.
You and me, friend - turning 66 next week and this music formed the backdrop of my growing up; it is eternally a part of me. Wasn’t it great to have been alive in such an electrified era?
I always put on these good old CSN&Y records when summer is getting hot and dream myself away into California of that era. Must have been such a cool time back then.
Wow lady of the island , a lost classic i havent heard in a very long time. Ive saw csny in 1973 at cleveland municipal stadium during the old world series of rock concerts. Since then ive seen csn 3 times, duets of stills and young, along with crosby nash, stills young and nash solo several times. RIP DAVID we miss you dearly!
Was the concert in Cleveland Stadium with Jesse Collins Young, Santana, and THE BAND??? If it was it was in 1974. I drove up from Louisville, Ky. for it. Truly a great concert. Remember a full moon moving across the sky as C,S,N&Y played for hours.
David Crosby is proof that you don't have to be a lead guitarist to be an excellent guitarist. One of the best rhythm guitarists of all time, his acoustic melodies in particular are mind-blowingly intricate...
Absolutely. Rhythm guitarists are not recognized. L know cos l m a reallly good one. Crosby was the best of the best out there! Thanks for bringing that out.
Thank god i was born in 1952 so i could see all these groups like CSNY at the peak of their careers. The 60s to the 80s were the greatest decades for music ever, not like the crap on the airwaves today.
Wow....these have to be the most beautiful reditions Ive ever heard from them. And I've heard a lot of bootlegs over the past 30 years. None sound as emotional as this release. And its a nice send off to David.
These guys were pure magic together. I hope the younger gens discover the best singer/songwriter supergroup ever formed. Been a lifelong fan of CSN/CSNY, and I own all their records except this one. That's going to change today.
It's obvious they were enjoying their performance. Imagine, unplugged version in 1969? They were way, way ahead of time! What a group. Big thanks CSN&Y for the beautiful music
They were of their time , keep in mind all fore of them had already been in a top 10 band.. They all had written great songs before coming together as a band.. David Crosby to a great degree was the catalyst .. IMHO..
It’s not that special, actually. It was the time when the folk scene was very strong - they just decided to do an acoustic evening at the time when it was everywhere around, that’s all… But they are great, no question here… )
I've always been a disciple of Stills...his vocals and playing here are stellar, especially on "On The Way Home"...this entire remix of this album is so sublime...
Read somewhere that in addition to writing songs and contributing vocals, Stephen Stills played lead guitar as well as Bass and even Piano on that first album. I was 15 when they did this concert and unfortunately never got to see them live. This is the next best thing. Still listening at age 71 in 2024.
@@autk Neil was the better songwriter, Stills the better guitarist. Just listen to interminable screechy Young solos late in his career. They ruin perfectly good songs.
What you can be most thankful for is that "Suite Judy..." comes complete, in '4 Ways Street' came with a very small excerpt. Thanks Rhino! Thanks to CSN&TY, Thank you for so much beautiful music. 🙏🙏🙏

If it would have been more of your finest guitar playing, I might still hit’ I guess - the missing piece, but nicer way. Bless y’all !!!!

Sure, because Vietnam, political assassinations, burning cities, and Nixon were a real fun time. 1964-75 were a sh*tshow in the US.

If a music is magic, then their music is! For me, it is exactly what music is supposed to be: melody, creativity, harmony. And supreme beauty.
This is absolutely beautiful. I miss storytelling in today's music,
I was at this concert
Sat in 3rd row with 2 of my closest friends
Aside from Woodstock and McCartney x 2 this was the absolute best.

My boyfriend (husband) saw them in Honolulu in November 1969. Neil Young played with them for the first time. Never to be forgotten.
My sister was there, but she has Alzheimer’s so she’s forgotten. 😮
Magnificent, perfect performance. Crosby’s chords & tunings are wonderful. 😜😎

I thoroughly agree. I am not fond of the blues as I find it dragging but when Stills do it, he makes the blues melodic.
Neil Young and Steven stills were the dynamic duo on guitar. Hell yeah

Not the same recording at all. Different guitar parts, not as urgent as the Woodstock recording. Different vocal arrangement.
But the 2 versions are more or less delivered over the same template.
