ya got my vote PETE...i was a lot younger....I'm only 75 lol
The Beatles cruelty, just showing off on what they knew was their last album. Imagine what the other bands thought when they heard this.
You and millions of other people.
It’s the masterpiece that only the Beatles could have ever created!
Amen, brother.
This is basically the Beatles' outro as a band. Couldn't have been any better.
Absolutely. Every facet of them is right here, this medley is their magnum opus, even giving Ringo his only solo in their career.,
Golden Slumbers was a song for their fans, Carry that Weight was a song to each other, and The End was a song to the world.
I am a staunch supporter that this was the best way for them to go out. My god, Let It Be and Abbey Road. They went out at their best and leaving fans wanting more. Had they stayed together just to appease fans and/or for the money the music could have suffered and we wouldn't have this epic legacy that all us Beatles fans cherish.
George Martin told them " I'll only produce this if you all work as The Beatles. No petty shit" . They did just that.
That’s All Folks ✌🏼
im 74 years old and still listen to the Beatles, the best band ever
😮
I call it the Homeless Medley after witnessing a grocery store shoplifter today.
More violins.
Once there was a way.
Carry that weight for the next 240 days and then poof.
More violins.
All so well crafted. No beating it really.
@@CJBW335 No. Nothing. Beyond words. It's Life.
Why wouldn't we? This is timeless music, in my opinion Abbey Road is their ultimate masterpiece.
They were just plain better than everybody else by a wide margin. There are a few other great bands, but none came close to the wild creativity exhibited by these four. It was as if you had Mozart, Beethoven and Bach in the same little quartet. A spectacle.
This is it. You might not get it if you are new to the band, but this is the culmination of their artistic legacy. Everything they were is in this medley. The harmony, the production, the talent each member had at their instrument..it's overwhelming.
I agree. It's so beautiful and imaginative in it's sound. The vocals on Sun King are heavenly. It never gets old from start to finish.
Greatest goodbye from any artist(s) in the history of humanity.

That run from "Mean Mr. Mustard" to "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" is criminally underrated to be honest...

you can leave the beatles for a while and listen to other stuff but, when you come back...just WOW !! it hits you again just how good they were.
They had an otherworldly force behind their music, was it just love?
@@emau2459As an artist myself, I notice the best skill one can have is to be able to hear what is playing inside one's head (lyrics, melodies and harmonies) and to translate all of that to the “physical”. Once you learn an instrument, the translating part is not that difficult. The real work lies in learning to hear (or receive) your art. The best artists are the ones that have their channels very open, and The Beatles did it like no one else. So besides love, there is also truth - they were absolutely true to themselves. This is translated in their performances and freedom of production. Even Ringo shared this core honesty, so if the song asked him to record an extra snare or maybe only a tambourine the whole song, that's what he would do. So they treated each song as if it were its own world.
This just happened.
@@edu-lins Well said; thank you for your insight. To me, the Beatles almost represent the expansion of consciousness, how they kept redefining themselves and finding a deeper truth to express; and in the end, returning to where they started, just rock n roll. No other band has ever had the same effect on me, despite the amazing acts that are out there. For me, Pink Floyd is a close second, but still shy of the mark.
@@emau2459 it was talent, hard work, and dedication. And hard work. Oh, did I mention hard work? Yeah, lots of hard work.
I will never get tired of listening to the Beatles. I grew up with their music starting from “I saw her standing there” to “Let it be” and beyond. In my honest opinion, they are the “greatest band of all time.” 50 years from now their music will still be played on the airwaves.

John supposedly hated this medley but it always brings a smile to my face. I never get tired of listening to it. I think it's one of the best things the Beatles ever did.
It was mostly Paul's contribution and they weren't on the best of friends status !
My favorite Beatles album. And I know about John's opinion. He was a jerk...but not really lol. He just didn't think it was rock n roll enough.
He just wanted to keep sleeping on the stage when he was 18.
Then again, what did John know?
@@musiccollectorJohn knew a lot. But this is very reminiscent of Paul's later works like RAM, now that I think about it. The blend of the 2 styles could have worked well throughout their lives had they held it together.

@drh-ov7eq And of history yet to be written. I can't see how there could be a musical act, to better them. And given the drivel passed off as being music, these days, it's a safe bet.

I dont how the Beatles did what they they did in 7 years but we are so blessed. An extraordinary catalogue of songs. This is a beautiful medley of songs. They had music oozing out of their pores. I'm 68 now and have loved them from childhood. They are game changers. Nobody - not Queen, Stones or anyone comes even close. The Beatles changed everything.

Absolutely Right About That. For a musician at that time not to recognize the Beatles. They changed the Game.
You are so right. I’m 40 grew up on the Beatles, no one can hold a candle.
It's not humanly possible 2 do what they did. I don't know how......yet.
In 1964, my father begrudgingly - with the help of my mom - allowed me to get a Beatles haircut, but never let me wear Beatle boots. Every one of their albums, upon release, became my new favorite. My girls grew up with the Beatles and other 60s and 70s classic rock, jazz, classical, et al, but the Beatles are our favorite. 2015, I took my wife and daughters to see Paul for her 60th birthday. We had incredible seats and an unforgettable time. My oldest walked down the aisle to In My Life. They brought long-lasting joy to so many lives and generations.
An older friend of mine told me that he has proof God exists, and will send messages thru the radio to you on any specific area of concern. His proof was when he somehow survived Vietnam as a draftee (80% mortality rate in US Army in 1969), and on his way to the air field to be transferred home stateside, he prayed to hear some good music with unique meaning to his life. Upon climbing onto the plane to go home, the pilot was listening to a military radio station and when my buddy took his first step onto the plane, and he knew he was going home after 2 tours of unimaginable horrors, the opening piano chords and Pauls vocals started playing. Once there was a way, to get back home...i heard this one over 30 years ago, and still to this day when i hear this masterpiece, esp. this haunting opening verse, i still shed some tears for my buddy, i cannot comprehend the joy he was feeling that glorious day in 69 when he left Hell, and heard this for the first time...Praise God and thank you for the Beatles...
Thank you for that ! The Beatles
truly were messengers of the Gods. . They transcend race , colour , nationality, age and religion.

Golden Slumbers is one of the most beautiful songs ever written.
The Garden at Gethsemane, followed by carrying the cross (Boy you're gonna carry that weight a long time), followed by being nailed to the cross (drum solo), followed by dying on the cross because he Loves You, followed by it is finished (And in the end the love you make is equal to the love you take). The greatest story ever told set to rock music. Pure genius.
So good the great jazz guitarist George Benson covered it, rare for George, but it spoke to him.
@@jcsgodmother That's an interesting assessment but the lyrics aren't actually referring to religion, Golden Slumbers is really referring to the play Patient Grissel by Thomas Dekker printed in England in 1603. (When Paul wrote this song, he referred to the words of Patient Grissel closely, read them and you'll see). And Patient Grissel is itself referring to Chaucer's Canterbury Tales.
I stand by the interpretation I wrote down. John Lennon said the Beatles were a Christian band and spent his entire life "playing the role" of Jesus. Abbey Road was the last album they recorded (Let It Be was released last because it took so long to get it in shape for release but it was recorded before Abbey Road). This medley is their effort to take everything they were working on but had not completed and put it together in a medley that summed up the Beatles . It was John wrapping up the Beatles and it makes a Christian statement. It is their final masterpiece.
@@jcsgodmother I'm afraid this song has nothing to do with your religion. As I said, the song comes from Patient Grissel (there is a poem in Patient Grissel called "Golden Slumbers", I'll add the poem in another post). And John Lennon did not believe in your god. Nor does Paul McCartney. Nor did George Harrison.
You cannot convince me otherwise - this medley is the greatest piece of music ever recorded.
Why Her Majasty was removed remained until now.
I'd say, as far as pop(ular) music is concerned, you're probably right.
Lucky to exist with hippie spirit last of dying breed
Not so sure any of us are in a position to judge the greatest piece of music ever recorded but that it is objective to claim this was one of the greatest bands ever at their best. The ending of Abbey Road is the greatest ending of an album - and an incredible poetic end to the GREATEST band ever!
True
And to think that it was mostly made up from leftover songs that they couldn't really finish. Loads of people say this is their favourite album becuase of this medley. Whereas with a lot of other bands, their material gets weaker as they go on, and no one really likes their final abum, it's an absolute testament to them that thier final output is considered to be thier best.

@@teddyboymanlapaz8202because it's 60 years old
When I listen to the early Beatles, or any Beatles music, I realize they are better than most music of today. Their music will live forever.
-bango skank
Well there is other great music 🎶 too. The Who "Won't get fooled again" or pinball wizard that deaf dumb and blind kid can sure play a mean pinball 😅
@@user-kp7xg1yi6kDid the Who come out today?
the best band. the best album. the best side of album.
Thank you Beatles for enriching our lives forever
If anybody ever says "The Beatles were great lyricists, but only average musicians" make them listen to this. Repeatedly. There is nothing about this that isn't utterly brilliant.
Well put. It's as close to perfect as humans get.
How about 'just another boy band'. That's my favorite.
I've never heard anyone say that
What bands take a bunch a melodies and make it sync together. NO ONE!
@@MusicALLyes You will sooner or later
There’ll never be another band that will have such a transformative affect on the world and humanity
When I was in High School n the late 60's from the Sgt Peppers album through The White Album through to Let It Be I remember the High School having a small Stereo Record Player in the Music Room. When a new album arrived dozens of students would sit in the Music Room listening to the entire album then engage in really deep conversations about the music and its meanings.......... Cant see that happening with Taylor Swift???
This whole album is pure solid gold.
George plays fantastic on this album. Just listen to what he does on She came in through my bathroom window!
Hate to burst your bubble, but Eric Clapton cut a lot of tracks on many Beatle's albums.
I know he played on While My Guitar Gently weeps. I didn't know he played on this medley. @@jamesdaniel3326
@@jamesdaniel3326 Seems like your bubble is the one to be burst. Eric Clapton played on just *one* Beatles song, which of course was While My Guitar Gently Weeps. he didn't feature on any more of their songs.
It's surprising how many fools like you come along posting misinformation. You could always look it up for yourself before you post your rubbish and make yourself look completely clueless.
I don't know that Eric played any part in Abbey Road songs..?? @@jamesdaniel3326

Ringo's versatility is shown in this medley! 🎶👍😊👍🎶
The art of writing to a song
He's no virtuoso
But he doesn't have to be - that's were his critics' go wrong. They expect him to be a technically brilliant drummer - he, instead, plays to the song. His writing sensibilities are first and foremost in service to the song he's playing. That makes him brilliant in my book.
the drumming through each track just complements each section perfectly.
this easily shows that he is an amazing drummer, and that's thanks to his unorthodox style
Yeah, all the way from the pub down the street. Just kidding. A lot of people say that Ringo didn't do this. Ringo sure got a lot of flack! 🙄🫶🕺
this a band with all 4 members bringing something to the table...
Yeah, once he finally gets to do solo. They gave the drummer some.
To whoever posted this a sincere thank you. Have a blessed day.
AFTER ALL THESE YEARS IT NEVER GETS OLD ONLY GETS BETTER LIKE A KEG OF IRISH WHISKEY
This is the best medley by any band in the history of recorded music. It is 16 and a half minutes of pure genius. And also the only time Ringo Starr did a drum solo I believe. A masterpiece.
Ringo's only drum solo is correct and the timings perfect that is his claim to fame
@@grantgunden83: Your comments are spot on about this being Ringo's only solo but it's more than that: Its a superb piece of musicianship performed by a master technician, linking different phases of a complex melodic sequence that maybe wouldn't have worked with it. None of the usual self indulgence, chest beating tuneless egotism that usually accompanies drum solos, this is pure class.
When they get to Golden Slumbers, I get a feeling of sadness. What once was, is now gone, but wouldn't be nice to be there again. You can never go home~~~ Such a great medley!
Well, I still visit my parents, there is still my room (that I later shared with my sister), but you're right, it's different, I have my own life and do not live there anymore. At least the memories remain.
Only Maxwell's hammer is a miss
This was so nice of you to post this, you made my evening so much better thanks! This is the best medley EVER!❤👍🙂
When this album came out, my 17-year-old brother played it in circles. I was only 5 but was astounded. Family's all gone now, but I'm here remembering. Thank you, lads.
They were always commenting on how some didn’t like some part here and there, etc. I just can’t help but wonder if they really knew that WE LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!! There will never be another band that created such history. ❤
Paul’s bass line is fantastic!
Paul's bass, Ringo's drums...Perfect!
YES, indeed. I love it!
It always was. Seriously good musician, as were they all. Went to the Abbey Road studios the other week while in London @ the US Embassy. Walked the crossing. It actually opened in the 30s, didn't realise that.
Very underrated for his bass playing
A linha de baixo de Something e Antológica
In an eternal league of their own.
I feel blessed i saw them in their first Ed Sullivan Show (64) at 10 and grew with them and spent my life as a following devoted fan to them and their music. The luckiest decade to have lived
I'm watching my kitty over under the table half snoozing while really listening, told by the way his ears are turning.
Brings a tear to my eye........ such a beautiful piece of music
🥺😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭 I am sure I will listen this till my final day... 😭😭😭😭😭
Brings me back to some very significant times of my coming of age. All are of grander and if had the chance I wouldn't trade them for anything. The Beatles are as much of me as I am. (If that makes any sense
I can listen to this every day and it does not get old.
It is often overlooked how important their linguistic origins, their beautiful English accents contributed to their unique sound. The voices were formed in their early years and it carried all the way through. If you listen to some of their interviews, you will hear what it is. Tears.
100000% more beautiful than english american accent
Absolutely true! I saw an interview with Cynthia & Julian Lennon, who commented on the beautiful Liverpool accent. It has a warm, rich, lyrical sound.
The UK music industry as we know it now existed precisely cuz of The Beatles! Just as their political empire faded away, their musical empire emerged led by The Fab Four!
Can't tell you how many times I listened to this album, but wish I had a dollar for every time!
I am 59, and if was given £ for everything l have this album, l guess l would have at least £1000 🎉😊😊
One of the most beautiful medleys in the history of Pop / Rock made so far. Nothing to add.
As much as I love many of their early stuff, this one stands together with a hand full of others from their MMT and SP albums at the top of the heap.
@@musiccollector you see i hadnt listened to MMT in such a long time i had kind of disregarded it and considered the white album and revolver far superior but just listened to it again and instantly reconsidered, its hard to think of my top 5 all time albums without about 4 beatles records! a radiohead record just about sneaks in

Every sound ever produced by a human being led to this. The greatest virtues of mankind condensed in 16 minutes. This is one the things that makes every bad thing we've done worth it.
mostly agree , but doubt it if balances out all the bad things. makes it tolerable very nicely, though.
I saw Paul in Syracuse, he sounded terrific!! Did the MEDLEY, played over 3+ hours no breaks, and he’s had the same band for a number of years now, so it was so polished. ❤He asked how many people knew how to play Blackbird, a thousand raise their hands, he says that’s wonderful…but you’re all playing it wrong 😊

Most of Abbey Road is pervaded by what Nietzsche called "the melancholy of all things finished." The medley especially.
I used to sweat on the next Beatles release from childhood to my teens they never disappointed us. And who would have believed that after fifty four years their music would still be the benchmark by which contemporary music would be judged.
I'm also 74 old still listen the best band all time.forever fan until a die. Roberto Vattuone from Chile.
Absolute magic! I was a teenager in the 60's - the Beatles played the soundtrack to my adolescence.
