This has always been my favorite part of the movie. I love Jack White but he’s often in character (not a criticism) - but that look when Page plays WLL in front of him it’s so real like holy $&€# - the mask disappears in a moment of reality
I love how much joy he seems to get from playing and listening to musicians that influenced him. He has the excitement of a little kid in his eyes as he's listening to the Rumble. That kind of passion keeps you alive and makes life worth living.
Jack Black and The Edge have that smile on their faces when Jimmy starts playing whole lotta love. You have to imagine this was really special, even for them.
It's great to see how much he really loves this music of his youth, that he surpassed a million times over. Paying your dues. And he played on _Goldfinger_ ! Brilliant!
It's nice to see that Jack White and the edge actually sit there and listen to Jimmy Page about what he's talking about they don't try to overpower him with conversations about themselves, he actually soak up what he's saying or so much to be learned by a man that has a talent that he was born with that he worked at shaping so hard to leave a lasting impression
They were just in awl because the guy they idolized and spent hours trying to copy and driving every one crazy in your house is in the same room playing in front of you kinda starstruck
'oh, here's a little number you might know' - goes into Whole Lotta Love. 'And perhaps this' - plays Kashmir. 'This is another' - In my time of Dying. And in the meantime; Jack, the Edge and every single one of us are picking our jaws up off the floor. He is truly an alchemist. He takes the same basic notes that we all know and he creates gold...
A treat to see the Edge and Jack White's faces as they watch and listen to Page playing 'Whole Lotta Love'...he really is the greatest writer of riffs since the original Black Americans...Hendrix not excluded, which is quite something hence the looks of wonderment!

Jimmy Page playing air guitar and then laughing is the cutest thing ever. He's still adorable. Doesn't come across as this "dark lord" character people have painted him as.
I completely agree. If you read some of the books, or articles, they paint him as something very dark... It's undeniable that he was quite interested in mysticism, and magic, but in person he just comes across as a sweet, but impish prodigy, who has unending passion for his craft.
As an artist, Jimmy Page deserves to be up there with the Picasso’s, da Vinci’s, and Beethoven’s of history. I believe his artistic genius is of that level, not to mention his technical talent. The man’s music has changed my life, and so many others. Truly a once in a century talent
That's "Link Wray" in the beginning. So glad to be reminded of this guy. I remember when I checked this out from the library like 20 years ago now just because I was curious. Mickey Finn and the Blue Men sound good too....I want to hear more. One of Jimmy's first bands.
Some of the greatest songs are very simple to play. 'Rumble' and' Whole lotta love' benig two examples. The thing about them though is that they may be easy riffs to emulate but very hard to come up with in the first place. Although not on here, one of my favourite examples would be The Kinks 'You really got me'. It proves you don't have to be a virtuoso to come up with great songs.
Jimmy always comes across as this sort of sweetheart, babe in the woods type. Quiet and a bit shy but remember, one of the most iconic photos of this guy is of him back stage drunk as hell passed out in a folding chair with a bottle of Jack Daniels in his hand lol
God I love this scene, you can feel Jimmy’s love and admiration for the music and performance of Link Wray (I think that’s how you spell his last name)

Thanks for the comment, I did know that. My dad was a bass session player in the 60's too I had a bootleg album of all the stuff he'd worked on..He didn't come up with the main riff and its not that The Kinks couldn't play. I bet you didn't know he played on 'Goldfinger' by Shirley Bassey for the Bond movie.
Before LZ were formed, the Kinks "You Really Got Me" was probably the most exciting record out there.Dave's solo is so spontaneous, it would be hard to replicate even for Jimmy.

The way Zeppelin was going, it was going to be either him or Bonzo. The band breaking up after losing Bonzo probably saved Jimmy's life.
