Thank you, Jimmy, for all the years of joy you have given me. This song especially. It's one of my favorite songs in all of rock and roll and one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard in my life.

Beautiful and captivating. I’m reminded of a time back in 1986 when I was trying to learn to play The Rain Song, and my mum would come by and just stop and listen
Same!! Same year and everything. I was a senior in high school and for my birthday I got a 12-string, a violin bow, and my mom wrote 'Happy Birthday, Jimmy' on my cake. Clearly, my name's not Jimmy. Best day of my life.
Sorry for anyone from the 70s who didn’t have sheet music or the tab, it was actually much easier when you knew how the guitar was tuned! Lol Cheers Jimmy one of the most beautiful things written including classical and the old metal classics!
@@martinjcooke72 This would lead to the conclusion that Led Zeppelin is about the worst band of all times. I wouldn’t go that far… But they are the most reckless plagiarists in the history of rock music. How could they even think that it would go unnoticed. They didn’t just steal songs like Whole Lotta Love and made it into their own song. It was a cover of a (legitimate) cover that they covered and claimed to be the writers of that song! It’s hard to respect them in any way as artists.
Me, at 14yrs and a girl I was hanging out with, I had immense feelings for her that I didn't quite understand in my mind. Still discovering my life and LED-, I came across this song for the first time. It was when the words said, "But I know, that I love you so" that an incredible feeling washed over me, and it suddenly was clear! I was in love!!, I was blown away!! and now fully aware of simply how to tell the girl what I felt of her... And the sheer force of this band that came into my soul that very day in 1981. My life hasn't been the same since!!! It's probably why the album cover has always been my profile picture. I never figured that until now. Maybe that's why the framed album hangs on my wall as an adult.... Peace and Cheers

In my opinion Jimmy, "The Rain Song" is one of the most beautiful songs in recorded history. It's a song that has always deeply touched my soul whenever I hear it. I love this instrumental version of The Rain Song, and I find it so fascinting how you explain your original concept on how the song on the album was to be presented. Fascinating indeed. Thank you Jimmy for all the music.

Soothing and more chill out than they original. It will always feel like summer's end whenever I listen to this song. The wind that starts to blow stronger, some pitter patter on the roof from the imminent noon time rain while you throw back rocking on an old chair on the porch... That sweet melancholy of those days that will never come back again, yet you feel grateful for all these memories you've managed to build throughout your life. It's not always a drag getting old... A sincerest Thank You Mr Page for being who you are.

At the end of 2024, 365 of the views will have been from me. It's just a drop in the bucket for you & this channel Mr. Page. But for me, this song is what FILLS my bucket! Thank You ❤

The Rain song has been with me through most of my Psychedelic Experiences and has definitely impacted my inner self profoundly. This song always feels subtle yet tremendously powerful to make me shed tears of contentment.
I got everyone beat on this comment site....from 12 to 64 yrs.old Led Zeppelin has been my number 1...My favorite song being THE RAIN SONG.JIMMY,ROBERT,JOHN PAUL JONES,JOHN BONHAM I HOPE THE GATES IN HEAVEN OPEN UP WITH THE SOUND OF "THE RAIN SONG".
The ability to transport the listener to another world was perhaps Led Zeppelin's greatest power. You can see the music in colors and images. No other band could do this as vividly, especially nowadays when everything sounds so cold and sterile. I could put this masterpiece on loop and listen all day long.
That ability was predicated on the fact that videos didn't exist and live performance films (yes, actual film) were rare, so the interpretation of the lyrics and airs behind them were COMPLETELY individual. Just like reading a novel, rather than seeing the movie; the characters look, sound and move the way YOU and you alone envision. The concert film "The Song Remains the Same" tainted the featured songs to a degree by creating a fixed association to them.
@@johnalex6309 I'd have to disagree to a degree...when I first started listening to LZ, the phrasing, the Middle Eastern influences, the melodies, the lyrics, were all unlike anything that other artists had released at the time. I would agree that how something 'looks' or 'sounds' is something that I alone envision, however, those songs definitely triggered those mysteries and places their music took us.
Yes. I have had this on loop (in my brain) for about a week and listen to it all day long. And no, that's not a bad thing. It's just so beautiful. Plus - I have Mr. Page and (and sometimes) Mr. Plant performing for me personally, live, any time I want! And sometimes when I don't. Over all, a fair deal, I'd say. I want to thank the UA-cam algorithm for dropping about a hundred 'Rain Song' covers on my home page. Well done, YT!
❤You Jimmy Page. My first concert was Zeppelin ❤ in Baton Rouge, LA. 77. My love for you & Led Zeppelin is why my Grandson, raised as my❤ son , plays guitars. One of 3 is a Les Paul. 🎉
Watching the video, mesmerising of course, but once you see that dude out for his morning jog you can't unsee it. And the bird descending down the side of the mountain above him.
The rain song is one of my favorites. My favorite version is probably live from The Song Remains The Same. Then the live version from Unleaded. Then the album version. Page was my inspiration to pick up the guitar all those years ago. Thanks for the music Mr Page.
It's now 2023 and it's been 46 years since 1977. I attended the April 20th live show in Cincinnati OH. This was their final USA tour as Led Zepplin. I was just 15 and clueless about the Journey life would take me on. Woo!
The Rain Song is one of my favourite songs to play, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever encountered. My compliments to Mr. Jimmy Page, thank you.
I cant even tell you how wonderful it is to hear this. The hour long recording of the JP’s demo experimenting & noodling about with the pieces of this song before narrowing down are among the most beautiful in my entire music collection and ive always dreamed of hearing him put longer/expanded or just instrumental version out to just soak in these melodies, harmonies & lush sounds. So many Zep tracks are like this, i wish there were an “in the studio” package for musicians to listen to, with no focus on the finished song, just 100% on all the making of.
People will still be listening to this in hundreds of years time like Mozart and the like. This music touches my very soul when my girlfriend died I realised why it's called the rain song....... ❤
Jimmy's instrumental guitar pieces have always been so _moving and awe-inspiring_ - it never ceases to amaze me. After looking at the title for a few moments, it suddenly came to me that in 2019 or 2020, I was recording these 'guitar instrumentals' *compulsively* after my father died (I was grieving in the only way I knew how to). I just played and recorded whatever soothed me, mostly mellow-dies and such. I vividly remember saving one of them on my main desktop screen and named it "Seasons"... That computer is buried inside a storage unit some 30 mins from where I am and now I've found the motivation to go and get it! Cole
This work belongs in the annals of modern works of musical art. This song is just mesmerizing-even without Robert’s lyrics. JP, please give us some more!!
I would instantly buy a set of demos like this one. Whenever and however Jimmy feels comfortable sharing them, I’ll be ready. And I’m sure I’m not alone.
I discovered Led Zeppelin back in December 2023. I was watching UA-cam and Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven from Madison Square Garden 1973 was in my “for you page.” I’ve been hooked ever since. I’ve listen to all of their songs, and I love every single one of them. I just love that I can go into a completely different world when I listen to them. Every time I listen to Stairway to Heaven, I feel so many different emotions, and I get this intense feeling of butterflies in my stomach. It’s almost a spiritual experience to me. I just love it so much! It’s been a really rough time in my life recently, and the only way I feel at peace is if I listen to Zeppelin. So I want to thank you: Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, John Bonham, and especially Jimmy Page for giving me this wonderful piece of art that is Led Zeppelin. I hope all of you live out the rest of your days in happiness and peace, and rip Bonzo! I really hope I get to meet you someday Jimmy, so I can thank you in person 💕 I really wish I was alive in the 70’s so I could see them in concert!
I had a similar experience to yours recently regarding Led Zeppelin. I don't know how old you are, I'm 71 and I was a kid when the overwhelming music of the 60s broke out. I followed it with passion but I had never followed LZ's hard rock, it wasn't up my alley. I knew they were the best, loved and followed, but their genre was too far from my tastes. Over time, I read some statistics, for example: which is the most loved band, which is the song of the century, which is the most appreciated guitar solo. The answer, in the majority of cases was: Led Zeppelin, Stairway to Heaven, and Jimmy's solo in the same song. Intrigued, I checked on YT and it was like a bolt of lightning that hit me. I was hypnotized by this surprise, I wanted to delve deeper into their discography and their activity. How much I missed, but I'm catching up. They are all wonderful musicians but Jimmy's guitar particularly fascinates me, both when he plays hard and when he uses acoustics, as in this case. It is now a daily appointment with these old, immortal, enthralling notes.
I played this for months strait. One day I realized I hadn't played it for a while. A long while. Here I found out that I had forgotten to play nearly the entire song. A tragedy considering the hours I spent in my Teens learning it. I look forward to learning it again.
World's biggest Zeppelin/Page fan here (yes, a very bold statement but indeed True) and just wanted to say Thank You. Quite a treat to coincide with the HOTH 50th anniversary release - March 28 1973 - 2023 ✌ HOTH is full of genre- spanning, atmospheric, eclectic tunes. A great introduction to those just getting into the band. It holds a special place for me, as I was born the same year.
Sento l'odore della pioggia lieve ,del te',dell'erba bagnata, della legna, avvolta in un soffice plaid....sublime ,capolavoro di struggente malinconia...
Puddle Town is about two miles from British novelist Thomas Hardy's childhood home. I can't imagine a more idyllic spot to work out the intricacies of a piece like this.
A gift from The Lord of The Strings . Absolutely moving..gorgeous layering and mood Jimmy, what a true musical inspiration and blessing you have been to my life..
Reminds me of the ARMS concert for Ronnie Lane when Jimmy performed Stariway to Heaven without vocals on the double neck guitar at the end of the show at Madison Square garden. The crowd walked out in silence and stunned awe of what we had just seen! Never ever had that happen in many shows at the garden. The crowd was speechless. Such a talent!
Such a great piece, memories of my youth from when I got my first homemade amplifier going without much idea of what I was doing. It was Houses of the Holy I was using for my signal source, it was about 1973 and was positively glowing as I enjoyed this wonderful album after weeks of struggling to make it work with the sinclair amplifier modules I had optimistically bought to fix my blown up amp that I could not afford to replace.
This should have a billion views. What a magnificent demo. In my mind, the most significant Led Zeppelin release since Travelling Riverside Blues came out in the '90s.
This song and Since I've Been Loving You give me literal goosebumps every time I hear them. There are perfect notes in them which go straight to my soul.
THANK YOU for sharing the gem! You have inspire this ole Texas to play 12 string - with my social security I have a Baton Rogue acoustic-electric and an Starshine ST-style with the Gotoh bridge that allow all 12 strings to be intonated (if you are good enough - that to my professional luthier). I spend more the cost of these guitar for new tuners and PLEK'ing but still far less than you pay for your vintage instruments. But thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for all fine years of music. I seen you twice with Zeppelin, one on the ARMS show in Dallas and you are the first musician I saw in Austin with your solo band with Jason on the drums. Jimi, Jeff, Jorma, Jerome, and JIMMY - need no last name in the parathion of great rock'n'roll! And you are all my greatest influences.
Houses of the Holy has always been my favorite Zeppelin album . Most of the album made it onto their set list when touring. Rain song is a masterpiece.
The first song I ever heard of Led Zeppelin was Good Times Bad Times it DEMANDED my attention ! and all these years later its still in my top Zepp songs. Thereafter I quickly devoured 2,3 & 4 after being so blown away by the first album, which in itself was testament that THESE WERE the guys that were worthy of inheriting the crown of the worlds best band when The Beatles ceased to be. Then I saw the film The Song Remains The Same and heard The Rain Song for the first time and was stunned, for me it is truly EXQUISITE a thing of aural beauty that Jimmy has never surpassed its masterfully arranged and played. As a guitar player it has always been in the my list of songs to learn before I die, the ending is sublime, the touch and feel in which Jimmy plays throughout, wrings all the emotion from the masterful chord progression and harmonic structure it was a Joy and Education to learn. There's only one thing to add and its a plea to James Patrick Page for new material. Some composers in time fade away their muse distracted or just spent, but Mr Pages was snatched away, the perfect vehicle for he's creativity tragically cut short with John Bonhams death. I ask myself how can such a creative person that produced such a fantastic body of work just ............... not ? I think its still there, it was evidence in the Coverdale Page album and the passion was still strong in your performances with The Black Crowes, you have done a mighty fine job as an archivist Sir and this is a fantastic find but I can't be the only one that longs to be enchanted by your songs and magnificent chord structures again . Ok not Zeppelin but this track shows there is still beauty in just the music without the big fanfare etc. If not...well thank you for the hours of listening pleasure, I've been blessed to have your music in my life
Mr. Page, you're my favorite blues guitarist. You really play with your heart, there's just nothing better! I start my day with this song, then go right into Tea For One. If you've bothered to listen to the music in this video, you'll notice that the original comment describing this song as,
"A Sublime Masterpiece"
is right on the money!!
This IS Jimmy's song.
This version IS a Masterpiece.
The original version is also a Masterpiece.
Both written and performed
BY THE MASTER himself,
as nobody else can,
Mr. Jimmy Page.
In short,
what I'm saying to you Jake,
is that
TECHNICALLY,
your comment is ridiculous.
And-
Hopefully, NOW that it's been explained to you properly,
now that you know how things work,
now you'll be able to understand that this IS Jimmy's song.
To do with what he wishes.
It's a gift for all of us.
I suggest you cherish it
in the way in which it deserves to be cherished.
I truly hope you had a WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY today Jimmy! 🎉 You have and still bring happiness and beauty into my hard life. I wish I had something to give you to show my appreciation. I hope just knowing someone, somewhere is always thinking the best for you brings you brightness. Sincerely, 🎉💖🎸💎💎💎!
Beautiful and captivating. I’m reminded of a time back in 1986 when I was trying to learn to play The Rain Song, and my mum would come by and just stop and listen
It's my absolute favourite piece to play on a guitar. Glad you have that lovely memory.
Did you learn it?? 👍
Lol
Cheers Jimmy one of the most beautiful things written including classical and the old metal classics!
That's wholesome
Jimmy Page is undoubtedly one of the best composers in the entire long history of rock music. His masterpieces are indelible.
He is the wizard!
The false artist merely plagiarizes but the true artist steals
ua-cam.com/users/shortsVzx-6aVsICc?feature=share
@@martinjcooke72 This would lead to the conclusion that Led Zeppelin is about the worst band of all times. I wouldn’t go that far…
But they are the most reckless plagiarists in the history of rock music. How could they even think that it would go unnoticed. They didn’t just steal songs like Whole Lotta Love and made it into their own song. It was a cover of a (legitimate) cover that they covered and claimed to be the writers of that song! It’s hard to respect them in any way as artists.
@@dirkpehrke9909 - well, yeah, whatever
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. I really want a copy of this instrumental.
The Seasons will always bring me back to fishing at age 15 - 16 trolling with an electric motor in a Coleman boat at night with a good bud, listening to Led Zep and burning one on a lake in Northern NJ.
It’s ridiculous how good this is. Full length demo track.
The Rain Song will forever be to me winter school holidays 1973, tucked up on a couch in the sunroom after an early morning foggy surf session.
Best rock band ever. Page is a genius.
Check out the top of the mountain . It's a top head with two eyes below and a grin full of rough teeth amazing .
Happy 50th anniversary to Houses Of The Holy.
Beautiful, just sublime.
Jimmy please release all the live stuff in pristine quality.
Not in this lifetime. It will go with him to his grave. Just like a part of Zeppelin was lost when John Bonham died.
I used to be able to play this back in the day. Loved its majestic sound and phrases. Thanks Jimmy.
I have felt the exact same way. You describe it perfectly.
👍 ✔️
Is there a video of him explaining the concept of how the song is to be presented on the album?
THANK YOU, no pun, for this Jimmy and being on the planet the same time as me. I was curious if this existed and WOW! HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS TO YOU TOMORROW 💓💗💖! I only wish I could tell you in person, witness your presence or touch your sleeve. Then, my life would turn around and I could die then and there, happier than I've ever been in this fight called life. May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live. Yours is a most beautiful soul. Faithfully yours , as long as I can hold out, ...🎉
I love this song Jimmy. Thank You! Absolutely Beautiful
Love this as an instrumental. Jimmy's music is what always drew me into the songs❤
It's funny...
It sounds like the beginning of Springtime to me!
It's just sooooo good!!

The soundtrack of my life.
I remember hearing the Rain Song on the radio as s kid in the seventies and being captivated.
I believe that place is Giant's Causeway in Ireland. I remember visiting as a kid. Great music with nostalgia
To Mr. Page,
8 months ago you opened this channel with this song.
8 months ago I started opening my day with this song.
That's roughly 240 "views" from me this year.
At the end of 2024,
365 of the views will have been from me.
It's just a drop in the bucket for you & this channel Mr. Page.
But for me,
this song is what
FILLS my bucket!
Thank You ❤
My late Mother raised me on Zeppelin in the 70s , I can close my eyes and see her smiling and dancing to this. Thank you with tears.
I remember the summer of '73 listening to this magic in my first car riding around at night with the top down. And then they were nice enough to come to town a couple of times.
Page made sure every price of work took you on a journey and made sure it had dynamics with expression and build up !!! That’s not just a guitar that’s a musician!
Wow. Sitting in the car waiting for the kids to get out of school it's just starting to lightly rain.
Magical.
I love your songs Jimmy ❤️❤️
You are my idol, you make me happy every day. When I'm sad , I listen Stairway to heaven 😊
I play the guitar too ❤❤
I hope you'll see this message ❤
The Rain song has been with me through most of my Psychedelic Experiences and has definitely impacted my inner self profoundly. This song always feels subtle yet tremendously powerful to make me shed tears of contentment.
Exactly!!
Word brother.
I always said; when I die I want the Rain Song played at my funeral in full. Thank you JP for this gift to humanity!
Thank you for all of the good work like this has done for my Soul Jimmy. You have immorality with us.
🎉 JIMMY PAGE !!! On this sunny saturday morn beginning my day ❤ june 29 2024 👍🏽👋🏽💕
best EVER elevator or hold call music EVER. THANK YOU JIMMY keep on growing.
Thank you Mr Page, for all of your hard work, dedication and generosity. Your gift, is a gift to the world
The ability to transport the listener to another world was perhaps Led Zeppelin's greatest power.
This sounds like gratitude. It's like the moment when you arrive home after a long trip.
Stunningly beautiful. This song, in all its incarnations, never gets old. It's timeless.
Eye Thank Ewe! Now give us more please Mr. Page. We can’t have our biscuits without some gravy now, can we?
I am so happy I found this. Mr. Page is the reason I play guitar, and I hope I can produce material as creative and full as this. Beautiful!
Jimmy, the day I recorded a proper instrumental cover of this, It was raining that day, and was also my birthday, thanks for all the great music.
Thank you kindly, Mr. Page
Every time I hear this song, I get cold chills and a tear in my eye. It is so beautiful and stirs something in my soul, that I can’t describe.
The music paints a picture. Beautiful & otherworldly. Blessed be Mr. Page.
People will still be listening to this in hundreds of years time like Mozart and the like. This music touches my very soul when my girlfriend died I realised why it's called the rain song....... ❤
The Rain Song is perfect...just beautiful.
Cole
Thank you,from spain❤
This work belongs in the annals of modern works of musical art. This song is just mesmerizing-even without Robert’s lyrics. JP, please give us some more!!
Wonderful, thanks so much for sharing the recording and your comments!
What a brilliant piece of music. Thank you Mr Page for all you have given us.
Jimmy has been one of my greatest influences. His mastery of exactly when to add dissonance then resolve is just magical to me.
JImmy , These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall ❤
I would instantly buy a set of demos like this one. Whenever and however Jimmy feels comfortable sharing them, I’ll be ready. And I’m sure I’m not alone.
I discovered Led Zeppelin back in December 2023. I was watching UA-cam and Led Zeppelin’s Stairway to Heaven from Madison Square Garden 1973 was in my “for you page.”
I’ve been hooked ever since.
I really hope I get to meet you someday Jimmy, so I can thank you in person 💕
I really wish I was alive in the 70’s so I could see them in concert!
Thanks for making us better human beings ❤
So awesome hearing the early version of Rain Song. But for me the best version will always be the Live 1973 version from TSRTS
That’s a great one for sure. Many hardcore fans agree that it hits it on all levels.
Yes that's the version !!
Quite a treat to coincide with the HOTH 50th anniversary release - March 28 1973 - 2023 ✌
HOTH is full of genre- spanning, atmospheric, eclectic tunes. A great introduction to those just getting into the band. It holds a special place for me, as I was born the same year.
Sento l'odore della pioggia lieve ,del te',dell'erba bagnata, della legna, avvolta in un soffice plaid....sublime ,capolavoro di struggente malinconia...
This is my go to song when I'm in a bad mood or depressed, instantly feel much better after listening..I love the mighty Zeppelin.
Aw, The Seasons beautiful working title of one of my favorite Led Zeppelin songs, the masterpiece the Rain Song!!
This piece of music, so chills me out. If I could only listen to 1 band on my desert island, it would be Zep.
Puddle Town is about two miles from British novelist Thomas Hardy's childhood home. I can't imagine a more idyllic spot to work out the intricacies of a piece like this.
A gift from The Lord of The Strings .
Absolutely moving..gorgeous layering and mood
Jimmy, what a true musical inspiration and blessing you have been to my life..
Chokes me up. Reminds me of simpler times...
They were speechless because Jimmy Page looked like a walking corpse.
I saw this show. Only I saw it in Los Angeles Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton,Jimmy Page. What a billing.
I saw the ARMS show at Madison Square Garden. I'll never forget it.
Thank you Mr Page. For everything.
so many shades of light and dark ,tight but loose .Zeppelin never age .The further away we get the more the genius is revealed . Thank you Jimmy .
Who else is checking this channel every day for more songs! 🙋🏼♀️
This should have a billion views. What a magnificent demo. In my mind, the most significant Led Zeppelin release since Travelling Riverside Blues came out in the '90s.
Brillante!!
Mr Page, I also wish you many more years to come. You are a great joy to me.❤ much love to you
One of my favorite albums of all time. The memories I have stored in my head seem to have it as their soundtrack.
Thanks to you... I'm much obliged... for such a pleasant stay - Forever grateful
Wonderful piece of music, hopefully Jimmy will share with us more rarities and gems of his creative genius.
This song and Since I've Been Loving You give me literal goosebumps every time I hear them. There are perfect notes in them which go straight to my soul.
Happy 50th! Here’s to 50 more years of Jimmy’s beautiful music!
thank you mr jimmy page for giving us this beautiful demo or NEW VERSION OF THIS CLASSIC song maybe now is the time for a new zep archive album
Wonderful mix! I had never heard all those beautiful little guitar details! Mr Page in all of his genius!
50th Anniversary!
Then I saw the film The Song Remains The Same and heard The Rain Song for the first time and was stunned, for me it is truly EXQUISITE
a thing of aural beauty that Jimmy has never surpassed its masterfully arranged and played.
Some composers in time fade away their muse distracted or just spent, but Mr Pages was snatched away, the perfect vehicle for he's creativity
tragically cut short with John Bonhams death.
If not...well thank you for the hours of listening pleasure, I've been blessed to have your music in my life
The theme song of my life growing up …and right to this day … WE LOVE YOU JIMMY PAGE❤
Mr. Page, you're my favorite blues guitarist.
You really play with your heart, there's just nothing better!
I start my day with this song,
then go right into Tea For One.
I could listen to you all day.
And quite often do!!
I felt honored to see you in concert in '79, and now I feel honored to be subbed to your channel!
Rock on!!
