Damn 5 species in a day from the surf. That pretty cool. Spanish, ladyfish, blues, whiting, and catfish. Down here in south Florida from the surf it’s a bunch of snook and jacks, if your lucky a tarpon. Really amazing video!
Matt have you ever tried the catfish? Skin them out and fillet them and bread them in Louisiana fish fry and deep fry them squirt a little lemon on them grab you a piece of onion eat the fish and the onion it's delicious!
I love FIshing Blitz!!! the spatula is a scoop for the rice ,i flop half the mat over then "slide everything close to you with the mat , then it should naturally roll, squeeze tight at the end . cutting in wrap helps if you dont have a super sharp knife. also clean the knife each roll. or halfway through the cutting. wet your fingers with water, spread the rice evenly to the edges, ponzu Is DANK! its like soy sauce but upgraded. Goes good with gyoza too. my dad is a sushi chef in Hollywood FL should go check out Sushi Song sometime if your down there
You can also go to any Asian or Japanese grocery store to buy actual ponzu sauce but yours works well too! Usually ponzu is made with soy sauce and Yuzu citrus. Also for the sushi making you guys did really good! To make it easier to cut use a sharp knife wet with water so the rice doesn't stick! Great video I enjoyed watching it like all the others!
Those storms looked mean but you saw it through great vid Sr. And that sushi looked delicious and great color. For only rolling sushi twice y’all did a great job 😁😁
That was a fantastic video. I've never made sushi but I'm definitely putting it on my bucket list. I enjoy eating it and I'm sure making it fresh like you did is amazing. Thanks for sharing your family time with us. Your relationships are so real and genuine. I loved it. Stay safe and be blessed.
Hey BBB. I'm a disabled watcher from Virginia of most you guys.. Here is a show idea.... All of you ocean fishers should make a "Most Dangerous Catches" video with short snippets from other shows. I just watched your Stargazer catch. It would be a good filler when fishing is tough. Great content! Keep your line wet and STAY BUMMY!
Good video, always fun watching your video's I learned allot from watching!! Pout a touch of ponzu sauce in the wasabe super good!!No bell pepper in sushi, but what ever works!!🤣🤣good video!!
Great video! I love the catch and cook vids. This one was really good--the sushi looked awesome! Courtney is just precious, I love her expressions, and y’all’s daughter is just absolutely gorgeous! Keep ‘em coming!
Nice to see anything other than Cajun spiced cooked fish. Spanish mackerel also lends itself well to an Italian preparation called Crudo. Sliced super fresh Spanish mackerel salt pepper lemon juice ,cold pressed extra virgin olive oil . Great ingredients simple ,clean authentic flavors
That was a really great video glad to see you guys are hitting the beach a little more often pretty good action even if you did have to dodge the storms hey Courtney you did a stellar job on the sushi looked really really good I wanted to try some myself as always God blessed till next time👍
The wooden paddles are for scooping up the rice. You can use Ponzu sauce for sushi and sashimi although traditionally you just use a combination of soy sauce and wasabi. Nice rolls for a beginner!
Really enjoyed this video!! Your Sushi looked fantastic! My wife and I love Sushi! She prefers to have to fish cooked, but I love it raw! I especially like spicy salmon or tuna rolls with thinly sliced avocado and eel on the top! We sometimes get Poke bowls from out local HEB Grocery store! You need to try that...it's just deconstructed sushi rolls...but they have a lot more rice, veggies, avocado and either raw or cooked fish or crab meat!
I think the catfish have merited a spot on the catch n cook vid list. They should be your target species next time. Keep up the cheery content--appreciate it.
Dang it man!! Looks delicious. I wish this video had been up a week ago. I love sushi but have never seen it made with spanish and we had a pile of it!
@UCn7QgfiiS_jLX8wGf4uX7WQ I lived in NYC for 60+ years and enjoyed fishing all over Long Island and the New Jersey shore, no I reside in Georgia just south of Atlanta. I miss Salt water fishing and will be going to Savanah or Florida on the gulf this fall. Did you ever fish the north coast of Germany?
Beach Bum, tried surf fishing at Johnson Beach a couple days ago and the seaweed was just ridiculous. You not having that problem over your way? Should it just try to fish though it? I really appreciate your channel!! You got me back into it. After I sold my boat I just kind of gave up on fishing but always missed it.
Some tips - cast shorter than normal to avoid the worst beds of weeds. Use a long rod to keep line off the water. Keep the rod straight upright in a sand stick as close to the water as possible. Use single hook rigs and don’t use grip leads to create as few points to snag weed as possible. If using a shock leader use a lighter one than usual to keep the knot small.
I'd also recommend a longer pole. I'm a bit east, just across the border into Florida and have been dealing with seaweed as well. Recently picked up a 12' pole and it made a big difference. I still pick some up when I reel in, but hopefully I already have a fish on at that point.
enjoy your site i am fixing to move to Homosassa Florida from Indiana cant wait to hit the surf but i am starting from scratch i have no tackle or knowledge i have been a fresh water fisherman with no oceans here in indiana lol . suggestions on tackle for beginners
For second try you did good. I still struggle rolling sushi. Glad to see you back on the beach more. Are the fleas thick enough to collect for this winter and spring?
I've never tried it, but I believe the flat spatula comes in about the point where your fingers touch the rice. They make it look so easy, just rolling it up on a flat surface. I would love to try to make my own! Where did you get your set? I'll have to search for a how to vid!!! Love it!
Well done. My kids have loved sushi since they were tiny. Not my oldest is 6’4” and sushi gets real expensive. I do love catching and preparing my own fresh fish though. Thanks!
We think you did a wonderful job on the sushi! Sushi make you get better and better at it. Some Japanese pickles would have been really good in that also.
I love sushi, but I have never tried to make it. You could have sold yours in a sushi restaurant based on the looks of it. Y'all need to get Camera Man Ron over there to try some 😂
Think of the paddle looking things like a sticky rice putty knife. Scoop the rice out of the cooler and smear it on the sea weed (or wrap as you did). If used Spanish for sushia lit but I’ve never bled it first.
BBB, I love Japanese mackerel but it's a cold water fish. I always wonder about sushimi with our mackerel. Can I get opinions from you and your subscribers???
I'm sure I probably missed it if so tell me which one but I'd like to know some information about what kind of rod and reels you're using on the surf, And maybe what kind of line and rig you're using. I'm in North Florida you're fishing looks fairly similar to what we have we just have more waves to deal with. Thanks for the Content buddy.
Just recall the words of James Spann,
“When thunder roars, get indoors”. Be safe out there.
The bulls are headed your way Matt. Time to get the bummy stick out and let's catch dinosaurs.
That looks so good!
I love it when the rod gets bent the minute you put it down!
No Haters Here you guys are reaching out & having fun.. God bless u all..
I watch every Wk from Centennial Colorado

goes great with gyozas!!! Its like the step up from soy sauce but you still need kikkoman for cooking habachi all day!
Good video Matt with Courtney and Annalise. Looks like you have a new recipe. Yum! 🙏🏻❤️
Those storms looked mean but you saw it through great vid Sr. And that sushi looked delicious and great color.
For only rolling sushi twice y’all did a great job 😁😁
The fishing was great but I give you guy's a 10 on presentation on the dish you had me drooling:)

It looked delicious! Not too many people would try something new and just put it out there! Nice job!!
Great job on the video and the sushi. The should have a specific vinegar mixture in it which adds to the flavor.
Good video, always fun watching your video's I learned allot from watching!! Pout a touch of ponzu sauce in the wasabe super good!!No bell pepper in sushi, but what ever works!!🤣🤣good video!!
Spanish mackerel is superb when you serve it sashimi with thin slices and a straight-up ponzu sauce and maybe a little bit of ground daikon radish. 😁👌
Y’all did great! Fishing around a storm can be very rewarding and hair standing!
Awesome catches! Fun to watch! Your vids are soooooooo exciting to watch...keep them coming please!!
Great video! I love the catch and cook vids. This one was really good--the sushi looked awesome! Courtney is just precious, I love her expressions, and y’all’s daughter is just absolutely gorgeous! Keep ‘em coming!
Fun day at the beach! Lots of action. You both gave it your best shot on the sushi.
Looked good. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks for sharing
Super fun video . Crazy weather . Rough water gets them hopping.
The beach is so beautiful, love the fishing
Nice to see anything other than Cajun spiced cooked fish. Spanish mackerel also lends itself well to an Italian preparation called Crudo. Sliced super fresh Spanish mackerel salt pepper lemon juice ,cold pressed extra virgin olive oil . Great ingredients simple ,clean authentic flavors
Great jobs on the roll! Looks delicious
Great job! Instead of making rolls, ive layered the ingredients in a glass pan, and cut in squares, instead of rolling
Trying to fish the surf at Pine Knoll Shores, NC . No luck . Top water am, metals, two drop nada. Water is so warm. Co.e on October. Good luck
That was a really great video glad to see you guys are hitting the beach a little more often pretty good action even if you did have to dodge the storms hey Courtney you did a stellar job on the sushi looked really really good I wanted to try some myself as always God blessed till next time👍
Try the sound side.
Love love seeing you on the beach again

Great job guys. I really enjoyed watching
great video , great looking sushi roll. Not bad at all. looked yummy.

Great video, Matt!
Super good!!
🐟🐟🐟🐟🐟
I think the catfish have merited a spot on the catch n cook vid list. They should be your target species next time. Keep up the cheery content--appreciate it.

That looked like a ton of fun and looked delicious!
Awesome video man! I'll be down in your neck of the woods late October doing some fishing, I hope the wife and I get into them!
What size hooks do you use on rigs for whiting?
That sushi sure looked so professional! Be so proud of yourself you did a great job yum!
Great job as usual. I love Sushi, but I could never do what you did. I would have to had cook the fish. Thanks for sharing.
It’s tough fishing when you start asking Fred for advice.
Dang it man!! Looks delicious. I wish this video had been up a week ago. I love sushi but have never seen it made with spanish and we had a pile of it!
My mother and I tried bluefish sashimi In Cape Cod and it was absolutely fantastic. As good if not better than tuna!
Thanks podna! That looked fun.
I am so sure. i win these daily 😐
The roll looked pretty good 👍🏻 I love sushi and eat it like a lot
You have to try some Bachan’s Japanese Barbecue Sauce with that dish !!!
Good day fishing, dinner looks great

Man, I would love to experience that!
Can you use Spanish mackerel for cut bait?
Tempura is basically taking Sushi, battering it and then deep frying. Try that some time!
Sushi looked delicious. Great video
Ponzu is soy that is aged with fruit flavor added. You can buy it right next to regular soy.

Amazing fishing ❤️
Have you tried a Alabama rig from the beach ?
"A SPA* I HIT I HIT THIS FISH" 😂😂 @6:31
Love you content. You did go straight Ed Bassmaster there a sec though!!! Lol. Look at this. Look at that. Keep up the good work
For second try you did good. I still struggle rolling sushi. Glad to see you back on the beach more. Are the fleas thick enough to collect for this winter and spring?
Do you freeze your Fleas in Sinkwatter or do they do best in Saltwater . Or dus it matter.
@@jimmyfumbanks6081 I blanch them or freeze in salt brine for longer storage in freezer

If it taste as good as it looks you did a great job Courtney.
Well done. My kids have loved sushi since they were tiny. Not my oldest is 6’4” and sushi gets real expensive. I do love catching and preparing my own fresh fish though.
Thanks!
Looks good, I suggest watching Chef Hiro Teradas videos and you will learn quickly how to roll sushi and cut Sashimi. Nice job for second try
Awesome video trying new things as a family … the princess is beautiful …
We think you did a wonderful job on the sushi! Sushi make you get better and better at it. Some Japanese pickles would have been really good in that also.
I believe those paddles are for working the vinegar into your rice. Great video but no catch phrase/word today?
I love sushi, but I have never tried to make it. You could have sold yours in a sushi restaurant based on the looks of it. Y'all need to get Camera Man Ron over there to try some 😂
You ever use corn meal when frying fish?
What size reel are you using?
The sushi looks GREAT!! (3 more weeks until my FISHIN' TRIP!! )
Think of the paddle looking things like a sticky rice putty knife. Scoop the rice out of the cooler and smear it on the sea weed (or wrap as you did). If used Spanish for sushia lit but I’ve never bled it first.
That 4runner tho 🔥🔥
Great job...
Great job on the sushi
June grass has been a bummer on perdido key...
more rice and water to prevent sticking. Great job.
BBB, I love Japanese mackerel but it's a cold water fish. I always wonder about sushimi with our mackerel. Can I get opinions from you and your subscribers???
You're too excited and spinning that reel too fast. You got the fastest swimmer out there! 😏
Looking good man! 🍣
I'm sure I probably missed it if so tell me which one but I'd like to know some information about what kind of rod and reels you're using on the surf, And maybe what kind of line and rig you're using.
