Scuttle lol that was a very productive day of fishing. Those snapper blues can be alot of fun. As always thanks for having us along brother. Stay blessed
Man, I'm living through you guys and your videos. I'm recovering from a stroke on June 28th and missing my surf and pier Fishing this summer. So, keep up the great videos keeping my hopes alive for next year.👍👍👍👍
Always enjoyed your videos, I was able to walk solo today for the first time without a walker. It's coming back daily slowly but surely. A big Hi from Wetumpka too.🖐
That group of blue fish as well as the seagulls scuttled you across the sand and waves. Living in WY and getting to the coast to surf fish seldom makes these videos a priceless opportunity to see and hear where a person desires to be at that given time. However elk season is two weeks away and I will be scuttling through the mountains pursuing that heart pounding Bugle and the beach will take second place for a short amount of time!
Great video, Matt! The bite was definitely on! And everyone was going for the Blues: you, Scuttle, and the Tax man! Thanks again for sharing! Stay Safe and Healthy!!
Scuttle: Awesome video. Love catching those blues. I fish'em at dusk with big chunks of cut ladyfish in the Sarasota area in the intracoastal. They fight like crazy - sometimes even jump. Biggest one I have taken so far was 24.5", and that was a beast. Their teeth are wicked. They literally will take the bronzing or the red coating right off of the hooks. I tried using flouro up to 60 pounds test, and they were continually chewing through and breaking off. I have now switched to 60 pound braided wire bait rigs. Believe it or not, after about 10 to 12 larger fish, they will even destroy the braided wire. I tried live pinfish one night, and 2 very large pinfish got cleanly shorn right in half. Looked like someone had used a meat cleaver on them; the cut was so clean.
Scuddle.....great content as usual... Back home (Long Island, NY) We call the Big Bluefish...Gators! They get big and are super aggressive...as you know
I've been watching you vids for a little while now. Watching you catch Blue Fish, I couldn't help notice, how much they resemble a fish we catch here is Australia called Tailor. Turns out they are the same species.
That was a fantastic video nothing more fun than catching fish on top water the size of those Blues I was kind of surprised you didn't take one home for you and Courtney that was pretty cool a shark hit your top water though really good to see you hitting the beach more often lately👍👍 scuttle
Used to fish Alabama point back in the 70's. Blues were always prominent to hit. Dont get to fish much anymore, but always enjoy your videos, along with the other local boys. Fishing vicariously thru you. Keep up the 'scuttle' butt, your vids are very entertaining.
Nice video and love the bluefish action. Do you not eat bluefish? We used to keep the ones between 1 and 3 lbs and bleed them in a bucket of salt water, then after filleting them soak the fillets in milk for a few minutes. Bake them with lemon and orange slices and some cherry tomatoes and seam with a touch of salt, fresh ground pepper, basil, and oregano, and you have a tasty fish dinner. Always eat them fresh though, and only in moderation.
Hey Matt seems that your living in a great area I’m assuming gulf shores or around orange Bch.love watching your videos.I’d grew up in the Miami fla. fla keys area now in to. Truly miss the off shore fishing spearfishing & nit fishing which is always a great memory would like to hook up if I can get in your area I’m just crazy @ fishing for what ever bites God Bless you & your family
Skuttle! That was awesome! I’ve been trying to hit some topwater. Just this morning birds were diving everywhere in front of me and tarpon were jumping. I didn’t have the tackle to hook a tarpon but I threw a moonwalker and an ES lure anyway, but didn’t catch anything that way. Caught about 15 fish with my set rigs, so that was fine, lol. Tight lines!
Hi Matthew I was fishing off the jetty in Ceduna South Australia last year and I cast out a float rig and it got picked off whilst the float was in mid air that was fun it was a giant Pacific gull unfortunately it took all my line off my reel luckily I had it tied to on and it eventually dropped it but it really livened up my day
Here in SE Queensland when the tailor (bluefish) are running in winter, you often don't have time to get teh slack out of your line from casting before it gets slammed. The ones you were getting were all good eating size and great fun to catch. When you start getting the 40 inch fish it can be fun for a bit but then after a while it feels like your arms are going to drop off.
Scuttle! Rob (my 5 year old son) is a huge fan of yours & loves watching your videos. We go to the outer banks in a few weeks and are hoping for some big blues to blow up on our lures like they did on yours!
Hey man! I just picked up a lamiglas graphite 10’6 medium light 2 piece steelhead rod with a pen pursuit 4 3000 series 15 lb power pro super slick braid and 40 lb fluorocarbon leaders. Is that a good set up? Do you have any thoughts or opinions on that! I just wanted to pick up an extra set up we are heading down to St. George Florida first week of October for some surf fishing, and wanted to get an extra setup. Thanks!
Really enjoy your videos. Do you ever try bucktail jigs in this situation? We're planning on coming to the Navarre/Destin area the first week of October. Hopefully something will be biting. Stay bummy!
Scuttle,,, I am moving to Florida in January 2023 to Homosassa Gulf side cant wait to SALT WATER FISH I have been out on a few deep sea party fishing boats and it was fun but it is what it is LOL . I live in Indiana and love to fish for Bass, crappie , Blue Gill or what ever will hit LOL . I have so much to learn about salt water fishing like the tackle , fish, baits and what, when and where. I have just subscribed to your site to pick up on what i can but nothing like hands on any tips would be great thanks
Anytime you can wake up and get to the beach and fish you are truly living your dreams. In New York, the blues are twice the size of where your fishing. Is that a fishee story? That shark at the end was pretty Kool.
I used to watch your videos all the time, but to be honest from a girl that grew up in the Keys, catch, clean & cook was what my siblings & I did as kids when left alone for 2 weeks or so at a time, this is back in the mid 1960's, he flew for Pan Am out of MIA. We did fine, caught, cleaned and cooked our own food, we all were divers at a young age, things were different, we fished and dove for food/
Scuttle!!!! Had the same problem this past weekend with the birds trying to grab my top water lure! But all in all had a blast using it. Made me nervous though, didn’t want to snag a bird!
Seagull catch & cook vid next?
Taste a lot like spotted owl
I thought they tasted more like a Hummingbird. .
Eh in all seriousness they're worse than crow plus I think they're federally protected.
Nah catch n cook Fred.
We call 'em "sea chickens" up here! Pre-salted!
I like how some of you creatively interject the key word in a sentence. Very entertaining!

@6:40... are seagulls fair game?

Are you using the medium or medium light version of the rod?
Looks like the Bluefish blowups ups here in the Northeast. Fun fishing, but rough on tackle.
Scuttle.

Yeah the north east gets huge bluefish. That’s a trip I certainly will make.

Scuttle! Will be down at GS in 3 weeks for a couple of weeks of fishing.
Scuttle suggests using a Dingle Hopper for bait! What's your favorite rod to use surf fishing?
From a East Coast man them blues weren't half bad specially for Florida. Congrats on all your success, keep it up.
Scuttle, we enjoy your videos, thanks
@bama beach bum Awesome video. When surf fishing, do you have your drag loose when the rod is in the holder or pretty tight? Thanks! Tight lines!
It looks like the fishing has been on fire there lately! Those are so big blues, they don’t get to big in Florida either!
Bama Scuttle Bum. 👍🏻 In South Africa we call blue fish "shad"... We get some busses here
Nice vid. Scuttle makes sense.
Plenty of small pomp's and blues on orange beach, spoon/fishbites.
Scuttle! Keep up the great content brother!
Have you ever fished the pier at St. George island? Going this fall .
I haven’t. Sounds fun though!
