    Nothing beats making some visual observations and not relying on the predictions all the time. Of course, all that good feeling can be undone when your trying to unfurl a headsail and someone is holding on to the furling line. :)

      No way! We had started working on a Spotify playlist for fun but it’s super hard to keep up to date. We don’t always pick the obvious music compared to other sailing adventures but it makes us smile. So pleased you enjoy the tracks.

      Wow, thank you! We have fun and figure we should just be ourselves. Hopefully everyone hits the share button every so often as that really helps us grow. We don’t do this to be famous but if we were able to get to sustainable that would be such a relief.

    Would you prefer digital controls for the engines, or old stuff. Old stuff you can fix with a hammer and a spanner and a bit of grease. If electric goes down the term goosed comes to mind.

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  4 місяці тому

      Our Nanni engines are fully mechanical (no digital components about them) for that exact reason. Perhaps you are mixing this up with the additional digital monitoring we had added with Zora? The engines themselves and their ignition system is all analogue, diesel compression goodness, we just added the ability to see their data and set alerts for various aspects within Zora which integrates with most of the things we have onboard.

    I had the first built L47..... Had B&G I struments and Hercules auto pilot. Troubles were not coming from the fluxcompass. I. The ap box finally is split in two halfs ..... Two wires , orange I remember, their connectors were half burned, causing the problem. Had that several times. Was sailing solo with guests, how difficult it was that the ship was turning to starboard without reason. Took some time to discover the issue. Hope for you, it is the same error

    • @RedSeas

      Wow! The first L47. That’s so cool. You’ll know this boat better than anyone.
      We will have to check the wiring and hopefully find something like that. Thanks for the tip. I was starting to think the AP was just getting Alzheimer’s

      It’s hard to show on camera as we use a wider Len’s to be able to hold the camera and talk to it but this wasn’t the worst we’ve had to do. Most of the OBS rivals are under the water so it’s hard to show just how tight a squeeze these can be

    "off grid" you clowns crack me up. Sailing is always "off grid". Ahe is hardly unvisited. Its one of the most visited atolls as its on the main track througj the Tuamotu. Try going to thr SE end of the archipelago, or to the Australs or Gambiers

    • @RedSeas
      @RedSeas  4 місяці тому +1

      Sounds like you, like us, have a love of travel.
      These days, the most common route through the Tuamotus takes folk through Raroia, Makemo, Fakarava and onwards to Tahiti.
      That said, more people summit Mount Everest each year than cross the pacific to visit the Tuamotus so perhaps everywhere in these archipelago’s are “remote” to most. 😃
      In our time in Ahe, we clocked 2 other boats visiting and were informed that they had not seen many sailors at all this year.
      Still, perhaps it has seen more boats in the past.
