Jeremy Jahns reviews the 2010 movie "The A-Team".....and he knows the entire monologue from the t.v. show intro.....although he wont admit it. Watch more videos by Jeremy Jahns here: / jeremyjahns
Logic, really? You don't look for logic when watching anything, past or present, with "The A-Team." It's just fun and explosions; like a better scripted version of a Michael Bay film.
I just watched this movie and can honestly say that IT DID NOT disappoint...The original series had a lot of "Nawh That can't happen"...and this movie played on it as well which was the mystique of the captivating original. I loved it!...best entertaining movie that is a remake or movie made version. I highly recommend watching this is you are a fan of the Original TV series.
I completely understand where you're coming from, but I loved the take on the show, it took something that was relevant then, and made it relevant now, it showed the relationships in the team incredibly, where guys piss each other off but are always there for each other. The plot....if you actually were one of the few people who pay attention to it, is incredible and completely ties in with "The Crime they didn't commit" from the beginning of Season 5, but putting it in a modern international conflict meant more relevance. The casting for the team was perfect, in my opinion as someone who frequently rewatches that show. The film knows what it is, it knows the stunts and cool shit defies physics....but have you seen the original show? They crash a freaking helicopter into a mountain and survive. People should remember the tone of the show when going into this. Plot plot plot....ridiculous action scenes intertwined and then a massive explosion fest at the end. Despite this the movie definitely had heart because everyone did the show justice and wanted to do so.
lol The whole point of the A-team is to be cheesy and badass i'm only nineteen and I still like the outdated A-team better it just has that classic charm.
First: Nobody liked season 5 Second: The problem with this movie was that it took itself too seriously. It lacked the lighthearted cheesy tone from the show.
@@wjzav1971 Yea, im gonna have to call bullshit on that. Yeah, it had serious moments, but the humor in this movie is on fuckin point. It know when to take itself seriously and when it was safe to crack jokes, unlike the mcu and frankly alot of movies today. It lets the serious moments be serious, and it let the down time sections be lighthearted and fun.
Despite never actually seeing the original series before, this movie was still very fun to watch. I can't believe Mr. T himself said it felt "too violent for him"
I loved the old A-Team show and I loved this movie. One of the important things with making a movie of a TV show, at least I think so, is recreating the vibe of the show. This movie did that, I think. Hannibal's line "I love it when a plan comes together", BA's fear of flying and putting him to sleep, Murdoch's craziness, face man's way with women, their escapes and the creation and preparations of their plans. Had tons of fun all throughout the movie and never a dull moment. Yes, all the stuff face had at his prison, but I wasn't surprised by it at all! That's what face man does, he gets stuff. See how he treated all the people at the prison and getting them a bunch of stuff? I was skeptical at first, but I came away with really liking the movie. I would watch it again and I also really want to go back and watch the old TV show.
Did a rewatch and to be honest... the movie aged well... felt like watching the 80s tv show. Edit - realized I watched the extended version.. was better than I expected.
Your nostalgia for the A-Team series, and the original Karate Kid.... You are NOT as old as I am Jeremy!?! ;D You are just the Master of pop culture, and I bow to you.
Jeremy I want to thank you for your reviews, I absolutely hate when reviewers give really silly comparisons like oh the movie felt so relaxing like the wind at the top of a mountain...very few of us have climbed mountains so this comparison is lost but you manage to make every comparison relate able so thank you, if only you did a review of every movie then I wouldn't have to waste time watching some of the abominations out today.
I liked the movie, I bought it....but don't find myself watching it often. I guess I was just afraid that if I didn't like it, nor others to, the "A-Team" would disappear and we'd never see another.
you know what it's funny because i hate when people say "its a big dumb action movie" but at least it had a decent script and never takes itself seriously and moves fast
For the Shaky Camera sequence was not that much, due Tony & Riddley Scott is the producer for the A-team, there is some Tony Scott -ish close quarter combat filming. Really Enjoyed it a lot.
Great fun flick, Neeson is definitely Hannibal, Cooper has and is a good Face... but the guy playing Barracus is an MMA fighter and does look less menacing than Mr T❗️ That said you are right, Copley is an awesome Murdock, he steals the movie ‼️ I enjoy this movie ‼️👍🏻
In response to this guy's complaint that lots of stuff happens in the film that could never happen in real life: I recently watched the movie on DVD with the director's commentary, and he states that the TV series was full of impossibilities, and that they were just playing homage to that. It was all in the spirit of the series. It would probably help to keep that in mind when you see the film.
The movie wasn't a textbook GOOD movie, but I had fun watching it. Its one of those movies you could just pop in and have a blast with the impossible scenarios that come to light.
If you watched the original show you would know that it was based on them getting out of impossible situations. They always ended up having the right tools in front of them out of no where. The movie was just paying homage to it.
One thing I think is running through a lot of people's mind is this question: How could you possibly think of making an A-Team movie without Mr T. I used to watch these series as a kid, but can only remember it through Mr. T. What other character is as important as him?
Yes, but, like an old relationship, will you eventually forget all the bad stuff and only remember the good? Thus prompting you to pine for it, buy the dvd, realize your mistake, and sell it the first chance you get. Time will tell.
Loved the movie, seen It again 4times for the fun and action. Saw the 80s TV series as well as G.I. Joe Cartoon and McGyver and Mission impossible TV show from the 90s. -The comparison with smokin aces was a bit odd? -Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper and the South African actor playing Murdoc was great casting! I think this movie follows the same blockbuster action movie as Gone in 60 Seconds and The Rock with Sean Connery more than the movies he mentioned. A bit physics defying and pmopus at times but on the other hand every damn car in the TV series had a catapult underneath the car flynging It in the air by even a haystack 🤣🤣
The tank scene alone is worth the movie. (all the way back when they're still on the plane) Score for A-TEAM movie without the tank scene: 5/10 Score for A-TEAM movie with the tank scene: 15/10 Yeah. It's epic.
I liked it, so it was over the top, but come on, its the A team, they use to fire a 1000 rounds, without ever reloading, then the bad guys flipped their car, flew 100 meters, landed upside down, and just walked away.
I will never get "critics" who attacked The A Team for goofy physics and what not. I mean why not use the same critique against Dracula or something? "Oh THAT would never happen!!!" Well no shit. The A Team was SUPPOSED to be over the top ridiculous. You were SUPPOSED to just go on the roller coaster ride and enjoy it not question why the 3rd loop was smaller than the 1rst.
Well, your partly right. People WERE shot, but no one in the show ever died. That is what the director said, and if you watched the show, you would see it's true.
Those four manly actors playing those four manly characters created a machoism singularity around which the laws of physics are thrown out the window in a swirling mass of badassery
I love Sharlto Copley, he needs to be in more movies

I really enjoy movies where people use guns and stuff like that. I will see this movie, but since it's shown on the same week as Toy Story 3, a movie I simply won't miss, I will probably wait for A-Team to come out on DVD.
It's funny that you compare this movie to Smokin Aces and Mission impossible. The director of this movie directed Smokin' Aces and he was THIS close to directing the third mission impossible movie but he dropped out at the last minute.
I was disapointed tbh. I loved the 80's show as a kid watching it on a old peoples 70's-80's tv show channel and I was up for the hype. It was missing something though. I did however somewhat enjoy it.
Nice review Jeremy. I knew it was going to be over the top and ridiculous, and that's what gets me excited about it. I think I'll have fun, as long as I don't think about the realism like you said haha. Keep the good vids a comin man.
Well, that's all fine. What I really disliked is that they changed the characters from being Army Special Forces to being Rangers. The title of the original tv show and now the movie is "The A Team". Special Forces are split into groups of 12 men called Operational Detachment Alpha, ODA or A Teams. That was the whole point of the show.
The A-Team? I honestly don't think really anything in the A-Team universe is SUPPOSED to happen in real life. So it's not really not meant to be realistic.
The one thing i hate for most reviews to a movie, os when one says "well its not realistic" well no shit. Why would you expect to go into the movie and see realism? Its a movie for entertainment. When watching a movie, for me personally, i dont look at realism. Sure there are a few things depending on what movie i watch that i kinda go "ehhhh that wouldnt work in real life" or "if they did this instead of this it might have worked better" but that doesnt destroy my enjoyment of it. Also i know ill probs get the message of "well you never watched the original so how would you even know if the movie was any good?" And yeah i could see your point, but there has been many movies/games/shows based off of a previous series and personally when i take a look at the original to the new version, i do see why many people would like the original and be disappointed in a remake, but i also notice how some things from it doesnt stand up or even is any good back then either. So if you want to watch a movie, dont go in expecting realism or it to be like "THE BEST MOVIE EVAR!" Just go in and enjoy what it is. Sure there are many flop movies but not all are super bad. Many can be enjoyable if you push everything else aside
Yes. "It's like Tony Scott's cameraman got palsy and then filmed all the action in 'The A-Team.'" Shaky cam is such a meme, now, that we only allude to it, and everybody knows what you're talking about. Why can't Hollywood do good action, any more? Is it because they just go for pretty faces and want to keep their insurance happy? Or are most of these actors just doofuses? Action scenes were poorly edited and possibly poorly shot. It's hard to tell due to all the cutting. Either that, or nobody was doing any actual physical stunts. I'd rather watch Bruce Lee, in one continuous clip, from one tripod, do a 30-second fight sequence, than watch 5 seconds of what passes for action in Hollywood, these days. I didn't know until watching it 10 years later that Jessica Biel was in it, or I'd've watched it, long ago. She just lights up the screen from any angle. Speaking of action, her presence on the cast gives you a much more physical presence. "Girl's got skills" was what the trainers said about her, when they were choreographing the fight scenes. She's got hops, power, and coordination. Totally wasted on Hollywood. Plus the whole "lights up the screen from any angle" thing. I liked Neeson's treatment of the Hannibal Smith character. Quinton "Rampage" Jackson was a great casting choice, but they used NONE of his martial-arts training to advantage. I still liked the writing for "B.A." in the movie more than the t.v. show. I think Mr. T played it perfect for how the t.v. show was written, but I felt like this B.A. and Murdock dynamic was better. The Murdock character wasn't as un-hinged as the one in the t.v. show, making it more believable, in my opinion. If only they'd taken more pride and care or maybe just had more SKILL in shooting the action sequences, the movie was actually pretty good.
I saw this movie when it came out in theathers in 2010 with my brother and dad my dad is a huge A team.fan and i.half to.say i like this movie. And i.like the tv show. And it does suck there won't be a sequel....
Honestly I will say, I do prefer movies that are a bit more real, and not ridiculous for the sake of being ridiculous (whether or not it's intentional). This for me though, just worked. Something about it worked so well, that I forgot about how ridiculous things get in it. And I think what it's always been is the chemistry between the guys. They were fantastic together. For me, it's like I'm just watching them hangout and do crazy stuff. It's a lot of fun, and I'm glad I enjoy it more than I think I usually would with movies like that.
There are some movies where ridiculous and unrealistic parts are taken too far and it doesnt fit the movie(Resident Evil) but for this movie it works great. The problem is people expect it to be the same as the old TV series (this, Star Trek) when the movie isnt really aimed at them.
Yeah, you're right, it is a bad relationship. Like a bad relationship, I tend to remember only the good parts from the TV show. In summary, I'm still totally seeing this movie.
@waste0fspais only problem though..we ,the united states, don't employ the Buford M8 Ridgeway AGS.nor does germany, during that scene. in fact, i think the only country to ever use that tank would be taiwan, thailand or indonesia.
I don't understand why ppl expect the A team to be realistic, it already looked completely bogus (in terms of physics) from the trailer. It looked like it was going to be a lot of fun. Was it that bad?
I liked the over the top action but was anyone else a little disappointed in this film? I didn't hate it. I was just a little disappointed in it. The plot just seemed...convoluted towards the end. Is that just me? Maybe I need to see it again. That was just what I thought after seeing it.
This is a movie u gotta watch again and again to appreciate it's not a terrible movie its a simple popcorn fun movie just like the more recent fast and the furious movies... just better. And the cast was amazingly picked by the way.
@trequor I know, I loved this movie, Rampage was decent for his first big screen appearance, Sharlto Copley was hilarious, Bradley Cooper was funny and cool, and Liam Neeson was just as badass as he was in Taken...Amazing movie but sadly the chance of a sequel look slim to none at this point.
dude, I loved this movie! and i think that if they would have made it more realistic than the show it would have been less enjoyable. plus that Tank-flying scene was pretty beast.
Logic, really? You don't look for logic when watching anything, past or present, with "The A-Team." It's just fun and explosions; like a better scripted version of a Michael Bay film.
g1015m best part was flying a tank. 😁😎
g1015m Personally I need some realism with my movie. it could've been so good if the effects were practical
I think this movie is just a little underrated. Not awesome but a funnish watch.
Yup
Im 7 years old i watched this movie and so coll bro
I just watched this movie and can honestly say that IT DID NOT disappoint...The original series had a lot of "Nawh That can't happen"...and this movie played on it as well which was the mystique of the captivating original. Shartlo Copley as Murdock was hilarious.
I loved this movie. I guess it was because I didn't watch the T.V. Show, but it was a reboot for a new generation and it was fun. Very fun to watch.
Despite never actually seeing the original series before, this movie was still very fun to watch. I can't believe Mr. T himself said it felt "too violent for him"

Physics, logic and possibility? Sorry but that is foreign in A-Team land
Actually the physics were proved out right...
Just rewatched it! Had a good time. Love rewatching movies 9 years later. Btw it’s on HBO lol
What about ten years later?
The movie wasn't a textbook GOOD movie, but I had fun watching it. Its one of those movies you could just pop in and have a blast with the impossible scenarios that come to light.
Lol omg Smokin' Aces, I completely forgot about that great little movie..
One of my few disagrrements with you jeremy i loved this movie
One of the most underrated movies ever.
Actually, by that logic, it would just mean that HE liked battleship. He never said A-team was a good movie, only that he liked it.
lol bad relationship analogy was on point ... good stuff man
If you watched the original show you would know that it was based on them getting out of impossible situations. They always ended up having the right tools in front of them out of no where. The movie was just paying homage to it.
Love this movie ;)

Put in physics, logics and possibilities in a movie and you'll have a documentary rather than a movie.
Yes, but, like an old relationship, will you eventually forget all the bad stuff and only remember the good? Thus prompting you to pine for it, buy the dvd, realize your mistake, and sell it the first chance you get. Time will tell.
I actually enjoyed this movie. it's not one of my go to movies, but if it's playing on TNT or FX or something I'm gonna sit and enjoy it

They Shot a Drone out of the Sky with a flying Tank.......Thats Awesome Jeremy!!!
i love the part when the guy playing mr t is like you crushed my van you fool
Underrated movie
however implausible the tank scene was legendary
There is a reason it was like Smokin Aces, it was the same director.
I just rewatched this movie , and i feel like modern day jeremy would enjoy this movie alot more for what it is
I liked it, so it was over the top, but come on, its the A team, they use to fire a 1000 rounds, without ever reloading, then the bad guys flipped their car, flew 100 meters, landed upside down, and just walked away.

The A Team was SUPPOSED to be over the top ridiculous. You were SUPPOSED to just go on the roller coaster ride and enjoy it not question why the 3rd loop was smaller than the 1rst.
It could have been a little more true to the series, but apart from that, it is what it sets out to be: a decent action flick.
"you spin me right round...."
Baby Right round like a record baby
I love this movie and the old show
Very good movie, underrated.
I hate it when I notice the darkish spot of where men shave.
Once I see it I CANNOT. UNSEE IT.
And now you have a mustache, Mr. Jeremy.
Well, your partly right. People WERE shot, but no one in the show ever died. That is what the director said, and if you watched the show, you would see it's true.
Nope. You're Physics were bad math.
I loved this movie and never realized that was Vicus until now. I want sequels to this.
@DiClivity Well, he is a big movie fan, like me. So of course he loves to talk about them.
Was this before he had actual ratings? Sounded like this could be a "won't remember this in T-minus 2 days," but doesn't explicitly state it.
Still watching it in 2022
Yeah... but that means you liked the Phantom Menace as well...
Those four manly actors playing those four manly characters created a machoism singularity around which the laws of physics are thrown out the window in a swirling mass of badassery

I didn't think the original tv series followed the idea of logic. I mean in one episode Boy George was helping Hannibal and the crew? What The Fuck.
I don't understand why ppl expect the A team to be realistic, it already looked completely bogus (in terms of physics) from the trailer. It looked like it was going to be a lot of fun. Was it that bad?
good movie that wont put you in a coma like inception
I liked the over the top action but was anyone else a little disappointed in this film? I didn't hate it. I was just a little disappointed in it. The plot just seemed...convoluted towards the end. Is that just me? Maybe I need to see it again. That was just what I thought after seeing it.
This is a movie u gotta watch again and again to appreciate it's not a terrible movie its a simple popcorn fun movie just like the more recent fast and the furious movies... just better. And the cast was amazingly picked by the way.
@trequor I know, I loved this movie, Rampage was decent for his first big screen appearance, Sharlto Copley was hilarious, Bradley Cooper was funny and cool, and Liam Neeson was just as badass as he was in Taken...Amazing movie but sadly the chance of a sequel look slim to none at this point.
buy it only Blu-Ray definatly
dude, I loved this movie! and i think that if they would have made it more realistic than the show it would have been less enjoyable.
plus that Tank-flying scene was pretty beast.
I loved this movie and it sucks there's not gonna be a sequel. Again 7 fast and furious movies and 6 resident evils but no a-team 2!
in there the trailer, their in a tank thrown out of plane shooting at a drone!!!! how do you come up with that.
Love the A team
This movie taught me 1 very important thing. How to fly a tank.
