one of the most epic action scenes ever: expendables pinned down in the tunnel when suddenly you hear boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, bad guy flying, and old spice dude walks in with his AA shotgun... FUCKING EPIC
One thing I didn't like: the disrespect for Jet Li. He loses against Dolph Lundgren twice. No one can beat Jet Li. Maybe Jackie Chan or Donnie Yen. But not Dolph Lundgren.
Dolph Lundgren also is an expert martial artist and also outweighs Jet Li and is taller. He's also actually fought before. If they fought in real life Lundgren would win.
I completely agree with you on just about everything, especially about the cameo. However IMHO the scene with the plane carpet bomb and the scene with Terry Crews (need I say more) were both engraved in my mind.
My girlfriend actually kind of dragged me to see this movie when it came out. I can't complain, it was a blast and I got to shut off my brain for 2 hours (much needed rest), but I could totally tell she had a WAAAY better time than I did. Role reversal, I just love it. :D
I didn't like "Rambo 4" very much, but I loved "The Expendables"! This movie is just one of the best senseless Action-bloodbath that I have ever seen!!
The whole time I was watching Expendables, I was thinking: "They should'nt have put the ACTORS together...but the CHARACTERS they played! Rambo, John McClane, etc. THEN it'd be a lot better!" Although it was still good! :D
@Missluvangel he already did one when LTA was doing The Quad, it helped with subscribers but i always thought that the ads during the vid meant they were already a partner... maybe not
@himsheha The story was straight forward and very easy to understand. These guys are mercenaries. They do this kind of stuff for a living. They don't require in depth backstories. Granted Jason Statham did receive more development, and had a love life established. Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li had an established rivalry going. Even Eric Roberts got his fair share of development. That's important for a villain in any movie
Oh boy, your reveiw makes me even more excited to see this movie! Especially if the action scences are going to be like the ones in Rambo 4. That movie was epic to say the least!
That is a possibility, indeed. I can't argue against that, the 'splosions and fistfights are excellent. For me, the Expendables is a good movie and a great action movie. There's really nothing wrong with just liking the action
Saw this last night. I agree with Jeremy that you should only see it for the awesome action scenes, for which I liked it. I was one of the few people who actually hadn't seen the trailer before the movie, so thanks for not spoiling the cameos!
Hi Jeremy Good review, I really loved this movie. The black guy with the enormous gun, he was awesome. The noise was brilliant, and Sylvester Stallone just keeps us entertained. Regards Gerann
Hey now.....action movies aren't just for guys. I love action movies. It is a dream come true to have all these guys together. I'll be seeing it. I love your reviews. I'm always happy to see a new video from you.
the black dude with the AA12 was the craziest shit i've seen in a while. i was laughing so hard when he shot the truck, like "aww i've got all these 12 guage grenade rounds, and no humans left to eviscerate, imma shoot a truck"
I cried a little tear during a "dance movie" review. Now he's back on track. I'm gonna chalk the dance movie review up to "that's the day Jeremy tried crack". We're all better now.
@sepa8310 that was the cameo he was refering to, ( 2:04 ) you know, for the folks that didn't see the trailer when it came out, so that they would be surprised by his aperance >____>'
I haven't seen the Expendables trailer, I rented the movie, and I'm about to begin watching after I finish watching this review. So to Mr. Jahns, Thanks for not spoiling the cameo.
Arnold was a huge draw for many crowds flocking into this movie. It was a cameo worth revealing in the trailer. Maybe John Claude would have been a better surprise.
Hey Jeremy! Can you also do some reviews of good movies that you really loved watching in the last 20 years...Maybe a Top 10 list or something....Oh and have you seen the movie "Paradise Now" ???
@Gears2halo He's a badass because he is simply is. The dude's an actual martial arts master and has won several tournaments to prove his skill. He also does a lot to help the community which makes him a badass in a different way. So yeah, Chuck Norris=badass
I agree with what you said but you forgot to mention there was some depth thrown in for some character development lol, unless that's what was the in between part where shit didnt happen.
Same thing here, When I saw Chuck Norris in that trailer it made seeing Avengers even more Awesome and he wasn't even in the Avengers, Can't wait to check out Expendables 2
in a earlier one of your vids u recommended Dexter. and while i was going through my netfix i decided to watch an episode and im so hooked. man what a great series thx XD
@eviletcetera i know!! it woulda been so freaking cool of willis had participated in some kind of....violent scene but nah, dude just stood there. Arnold didn't do much (or something) either but you know, he's not an actor anymore and he gets all fancy and stuff now so, whatever, it's understandable but THAT was the coolest cameo EV-VER.
I really just found this movie boring, it took itself too seriously, and the action wasn't really exciting. The sequel was better but it was still nothing to get all excited about. Also was I the only one who thought Chuck Norris's cameo was incredibly anti-climatic? Overall their not terrible films, but their nothing to go and rush to the cinema to see.
Solarstar10 everything you said here is pretty much how i felt about THE EXPENDABLES by the time we get the later action I stopped caring and it felt anticlimactic THE EXPENDABLES 2 I went in seeing a shit film but I was actually close to being blow away by it but then people tell me "NOT AS GOOD AS THE FIRST ONE" So I look at them like "What is wrong with you" I was excited to hear about THE EXPENDABLES 3 then as it got further in development I started to dread it because more stuff was revealed on what was gonna be in it talk about a huge watered down let down version of THE EXPENDABLES 2 :(
Well, first off he Trained Obi Wan, he also trained batman, he is God, He is also Zeus, Leader of the A-team....plus he has played in a few cool action movies! =D
Yes he did. You must be thinking about the original Rocky, which was indeed directed by someone else, John G. Avildsen. Rocky Balboa is Rocky 6. (Sly also directed 2,3 & 4, but Avildsen did 5).
Dude, I'm a chick and I freakin' LOVED This movie!! I went to see it with two of my gal pals. Well, I thought it was PURE BADASSERY and I loved it. One of my gal pals thought it was better than what she expected it to be. My other gal pal thought it was yucky! But me, oh yes, it was right up my alley. I love action movies and this is one of the best ones to come out in a long time. Just awesome. Your review was spot on!! I love you, by the way. Your reviews make my day! :D
you will make your 100, 000 subscribers easy. I tell anyone who has a youtube account to subscribe, none of them have disliked your vids. good shit and keep it up Bro - from a fan in New Zealand.
@TanzbaerundSimon EXACTLY!!! This movie may has well have been put together from old footage of action movies cut together and no one would know the diffrence... The Fist Fights: Good guy punches *camera spins 720 degrees* Bad guy gets hit *camera spins the other way 720 degrees* Bad guy starts falling down *camera cuts to another angle (upside down!!) and spins several more times* You never know/care whats happening.... Expendables = Classic case of "Aww... my dreams have been shit on."
@JediKniight1995 I personally don`t like swearing because I`m a Christan and so is Chuck Norris, but removing gore from a action movie that doesn`t sound right.
@JeremyJahns what do you think about Jean Claude Van Dam and Steven Segal not being in this movie due to personal issues (not between them, just the movie)?
I've been waiting for this movie 2 years! Going to see it next week. Thanks for the spoiler free review Jeremy, as always, I'm sure we're on the same page here.
I'm a human being who's going to see the Expendables who hasn't seen the trailer yet and I happen to be watching this video right now... Now I really want to see the trailer...
I loved this movie. I didnt see Mike Trejo though. I thought he was gunna be in it. The only thing that I didnt like in this movie was the cgi blood and cgi fire.
i agree he shouldnt have been in the trailer it would have been soooo much more epic especially when he walked in...and the shotgun was awesome i loved that boom sound it made
Saw it, loved it. Just the way I imagined. Brainless, raw fight, everybody in their sexy roles. Mickey Rourke delivers, fuck he's good. Had a good laugh on "šljivovica" (I'm from Croatia). And the only thing I didn't like was Jet Li's underdog role. I wish he had more of Lethal Weapon role.
Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with that call, too. Here he's a badass martial arts master and has been in some badass 80s action movies, and yet he refused to take part in The Expendables 2 if it couldn't be made to suit younger audiences. How wholesome of him; he was thinking of the children. Because, after all, that's what a movie like The Expendables needs to be about - family hour. *sigh* I hope it's at least a hard PG-13. And if they make a third one, they should leave Chuck out of it.
I seriously can't wait to see this movie! The action scences from the trailer look awesome so I think that the movie will live up to my expectations besides the fact that Segal, Van Damme aren't in it and that Arnold doesn't seem to have any fighting scences :( . Oh well, I still think that it'll be epic!
Jeremy very entertaining reviewer. surprises in this movie I liked was Dolph Lundren had a interesting role kind of like his role in Universial Soldier Jet Li actually showed some humor something different then I seen him Terry Crews was like the Rambo character with the high Powered guns maybe has the biggest arms Jason and Sly great chemistry in dialoge some gory scenes like Rambo 4 Im not a big fan bodyparts blowen in bits cameos where awesome overall 7&half stars out of 10

the only person who can be jet li..... is jet li
Nope,he just an martial artist and actor,he wasnt a real fighter
this franchise ruined jet li
Dolph Lundgren also is an expert martial artist and also outweighs Jet Li and is taller. He's also actually fought before. If they fought in real life Lundgren would win.
nah they were realistic all the martial arts in the world won’t help u if ur a 5”8 170lb fighting a 6”3 240 meathead
omg watching this in 2017, jeremy is that you?
Watching this in 2020, same thought haha
Omg watching this in 2020 😉😁
@@delegationofar-rahman thanks for remind me of this video lmao
Rewatching this in 2021
That scene where Mickey Rourke monologues blew my mind
A remake of Hamlet with Sly & the gang? I might actually see that just for the experience
Love this movie! I went to see mindless action-shit blown up and that's exactly what I got. Not even a love story, hurrah!
OMFG what's wrong with the quality of this video ?!!
Oh... 8 years ago... well, now I get it.
I completely agree with you on just about everything, especially about the cameo.
However IMHO the scene with the plane carpet bomb and the scene with Terry Crews (need I say more) were both engraved in my mind.
I love the visual style of The Expendables. The tattoos, skull rings, muscle cars etc. The vision for the movie was clear and executed well
My girlfriend actually kind of dragged me to see this movie when it came out. I can't complain, it was a blast and I got to shut off my brain for 2 hours (much needed rest), but I could totally tell she had a WAAAY better time than I did.
Role reversal, I just love it. :D
When I went to watch The Avengers I saw the trailer for The Expendables 2, Chuck.Freakin.Norris.

Where is Keanu Reeves
Oh boy, your reveiw makes me even more excited to see this movie! Especially if the action scences are going to be like the ones in Rambo 4. That movie was epic to say the least!
This movie was amazing I saw it yesterday, some of the best action scenes ever!
Here's my critique:
Action - 9
Acting - 3
Plot - 5
Overall - 6
And that's mainly because I was digging the action.
That is a possibility, indeed. I can't argue against that, the 'splosions and fistfights are excellent. For me, the Expendables is a good movie and a great action movie. There's really nothing wrong with just liking the action
THIS IS WHAT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR!!!
Arnold
Saw this last night. I agree with Jeremy that you should only see it for the awesome action scenes, for which I liked it. I was one of the few people who actually hadn't seen the trailer before the movie, so thanks for not spoiling the cameos!
Jeremy your lighting has gotten so much better ❤
Hi Jeremy
Good review, I really loved this movie. The black guy with the enormous gun, he was awesome. The noise was brilliant, and Sylvester Stallone just keeps us entertained.
Regards
Gerann
100 % agreed with Mr Butterball, Boondock saints should be up there amongst your older movie reviews
@SithLordGryffindor He did, those were the cameo's he was talking about.
@Rawk4Life Action 9
Acting - 5
Plot - 6
Overall 7.5 ;)
Hey now.....action movies aren't just for guys. I love action movies. It is a dream come true to have all these guys together. I'll be seeing it. I love your reviews. I'm always happy to see a new video from you.

The Expendables starts this weekend here in Austria.. I am sure a hell gonna watch that!
was watching this review again..just for fun.
Had forgotten how good you look with the stubble.
I cried a little tear during a "dance movie" review. Now he's back on track.
I'm gonna chalk the dance movie review up to "that's the day Jeremy tried crack". We're all better now.

girl*
@supercholoman no, I am not a lesbian. Just because I like action films doesn't make me a lesbian.
I love Liam Neeson. He is one of the reasons I actually enjoyed the first Star Wars prequel.
You are quite right. No spoilers here :)
Hey Jeremy! Can you also do some reviews of good movies that you really loved watching in the last 20 years...Maybe a Top 10 list or something....Oh and have you seen the movie "Paradise Now" ???

LOL love your reviews mate
I agree with what you said but you forgot to mention there was some depth thrown in for some character development lol, unless that's what was the in between part where shit didnt happen.
@SpyengoEen I know right? I thought he wanted a knuckle tap!
yes the cameo is Arnold
This movie would have been a lot better if the trailer wouldn't have given away so much.
Same thing here, When I saw Chuck Norris in that trailer it made seeing Avengers even more Awesome and he wasn't even in the Avengers, Can't wait to check out Expendables 2
in a earlier one of your vids u recommended Dexter. and while i was going through my netfix i decided to watch an episode and im so hooked. man what a great series thx

Thank you for not spoiling it. I just got back from Japan, haven't seen a trailer for it yet. So, thanks for keeping the cameo secret.
@eviletcetera i know!! it woulda been so freaking cool of willis had participated in some kind of....violent scene but nah, dude just stood there. Yeah, I think there was so much hype surrounding, that by the time the creds rolled. You felt slightly underwhelmed.
+nirvana 8193 i know i did slightly
Damn you look like a Gotham Villain
He looked like the Joker back in the day.
I'm sorry, I misread your comment. Thanks for the quick reply! Cheers.
@sepa8310 plus he mentioned him just didnt want to spoil it
Well, first off he Trained Obi Wan, he also trained batman, he is God, He is also Zeus, Leader of the A-team....plus he has played in a few cool action movies! =D

Had to watch John Rambo again today. I know it's a couple of years old but you should do a review for John Rambo Jeremy.

@JediKniight1995 I personally don`t like swearing because I`m a Christan and so is Chuck Norris, but removing gore from a action movie that doesn`t sound right.
@Seiryu64 The Expendables is based on Rambo, its like an 80s action movie, this is what they were like 20 years ago
i am gonna see the exspendebles , i have not seen the trailer. thanks for not spoiling jeremy i love you man, we all do.
PURE ACTION!! MY KIND OF MOVIE!! can't wait for a sequel.
@MultiFortran i agree he is freaking great
I ONLY seen The Expendables for 2 Reasons. #1 The Actors & #2 The Action! I wanna see this ONLY on Blu-ray! Seen it in the theatres by the way.
If you put all the Expendables-actors into a remake of Hamlet, you'd have the comedy of the year right there!
what about Bruce Campbell?
I m in 2020
@JeremyJahns what do you think about Jean Claude Van Dam and Steven Segal not being in this movie due to personal issues (not between them, just the movie)?
agreed
is this awesometacluar or a must own on blu ray?
2020 right here
I enjoyed the movie as I grew up on 80's action films and action films in general. Will I go see 2? Hell yes. Bumbed about PG-13 rating yes I am.
@sepa8310 he wasnt really a main character he was just in for a cameo.
I know people see these types of comments all the time, but I'm all woman and I loved this movie! My kind of action film with my favorite badasses.
I've been waiting for this movie 2 years! Going to see it next week. Thanks for the spoiler free review Jeremy, as always, I'm sure we're on the same page here.
Yes, they do.
Rambo 4 was awesome. It totally made up for the shit that was Rambo II and III. Looking forward to seeing this. Nice job on the stubble.
Yes, the prayers were answered. =D Can't wait.
Arnold Schwarzenukka!!
that cameo scene was the holy grail of actionness and they're not doing anything yet it was that cool
The Expendables Fucking rocks like the good ole badass 80s flims 😎
i agree he shouldnt have been in the trailer it would have been soooo much more epic especially when he walked in...and the shotgun was awesome i loved that boom sound it made
i wasn't allowed to see the expendables in the theater cause i was too young. I had to wait till i got it on bluray :C
Was the Hamlet comment referencing Last Action Hero?
Saw it, loved it. Just the way I imagined. Brainless, raw fight, everybody in their sexy roles. Mickey Rourke delivers, fuck he's good. Had a good laugh on "šljivovica" (I'm from Croatia). And the only thing I didn't like was Jet Li's underdog role. I wish he had more of Lethal Weapon role.
a remake of Hamlet with all those actors would be HILARIOUS!! They should make that!
i agree the machine gun scene was fucking awesome in Rambo 4
he's gotten a lot more professional but the content has always been awesome
Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with that call, too. Here he's a badass martial arts master and has been in some badass 80s action movies, and yet he refused to take part in The Expendables 2 if it couldn't be made to suit younger audiences. @FlubberFishZ he was in the movie for like 2 minutes\
@FlaminMarshmallow bruce willis? o-o
Jeremy very entertaining reviewer.
surprises in this movie I liked was Dolph Lundren had a interesting role kind of like his role in Universial Soldier Jet Li actually showed some humor something different then I seen him
Terry Crews was like the Rambo character with the high Powered guns maybe has the biggest arms Jason and Sly great chemistry in dialoge some gory scenes like Rambo 4 Im not a big fan bodyparts blowen in bits cameos where awesome overall 7&half stars out of 10
every other reviewer ive seen said this movie sucked...thank you for putting my head straight i actually want to see this movie now
