      Beautiful set up. I have had a few in my day. I still have one one of Bettas has tank that only has a heater in it. No filter. His plants filter his water. I use many house plants that live to hydro grow. He has fast growing aquatic plants as well. His tank is very balanced.

    i _love_ how you mention that these tiny tanks aren't suitable for fish. i see so many "fish tanks" at the store that are too small for any species and it makes me sad to think about how many people put some fish in there without doing the research. beautiful build! the shrimp look happy imo.

      Can I ask why you couldn't put a couple small fish in something this small? If you have a filter and aeration? Thanks.

    • @MargotLemaire
      @MargotLemaire Рік тому +24

      @@stevecarrell8765 Because the space itself is too small :) It's the equivalent of raising a pig in a cage.

    • @corbeaudejugement
      @corbeaudejugement Рік тому +35

      @@stevecarrell8765 fish require roughly 2 L (1/2 US gal) of water per cm (a little less than half an inch) of length. even a tiny fish would require a tank much larger. now take into account that many small fish are schooling fish, meaning they need tank-mates, and now you see the problem. fish have quite large habitats in the wild, and while it's impossible to recreate that, we have to respect the minimum requirements for their well-being. think of it this way: you wouldn't force a dog to live in a crate its whole life, so you shouldn't force a fish into the same environment. hope this helps! have a nice day :)

      @@corbeaudejugement could 1 rasbora not be happy in there... 🤔

    • @corbeaudejugement
      @corbeaudejugement Рік тому +10

      @@Plough78 i'll consider the bora bora rasbora as an example, as they're extremely common in aquaculture and have a very fun name.
      bora bora rasbora get to around 6.4cm, or 2.5in, in adult length. a single rasbora would therefore require 12L of water, or about 2.5 gal. rasbora are schooling fish and cannot live happily outside of a tight school, so count on keeping at least five, but preferably eight or more. that means, at the most conservative estimate, you'd need a 60L (approx. 16 gal) tank to house them properly.
      tl;dr is no. tank's too smol.

    Look at the bubbles on those plants! They are pumping oxygen into the water like no pump can do. When you see bubbles rising from plants, you know that the person who owns the tank has done a fantastic job making an environment which is healthy for plants. Such an environment will also be healthy for whatever aquatic life you decide to add, whether it is fish, invertebrates, amphibians, or nothing else at all. What a perfect environment! Great job!
    Thanks for demonstrating this art for us. it is the perfect mix of art and science!

    Tip, wist je dat je aquasoil met een magneet kan oppakken. Ik zag dat je het met een luchtslang opzoog maar wat nog veel makkelijker is met een stokje en een magneetje aan het uiteinde. Wel zo handig als je een mooi zand padje hebt en er aquasoil geknoeid ligt. Zo zuig je geen zand op en blijft de boel netjes.

    You can easily put some guppies in there as long as they don't breed. I have 10 young guppies in a 3 gallon planted tank and their father in there with them. You can tell if fish are happy just by their behavior. If they are all over the place exploring the tank I think they are happy. If they sit in one spot like top or bottom they are probably unhappy. But again it depends. Mine love to chase bubbles especially and are extremely happy in there. So people saying you can't put small fish in little tank aren’t really right. It just depends i guess how many plants. Too many plants could suffocate the fish.

    Bonjour! Thank you for this video. For a year, I have exactly this size of aquarium on my electric work table. I redid the layout 3 times, but without much success. I think the light is too close to the surface of water and I have a lot of algae problems. I had "Bernie", a ramshorn snail who died after a year. He was born in another of my aquariums. It's crazy how attached I was to him. I watched it several times a day. His aquarium has been lying on my kitchen counter for 2 months and I am unable to do anything. You give me want to try again. Maybe change the light. I really like your very planted little aquarium. I have a mini foam filter (but the bacteria is probably dead, since everything has been unplugged for 2 months). I might as well add 5 shrimps to it. Yours are pretty. Anyway, thank you again. I wish you a very Happy Holidays! ✨Bonjour from Quebec City 💁🏻‍♀️🇨🇦/🇫🇷

Alleen toch raak ik niet alle alg kwijt. Is groen van kleur (joh), en niet van dat draad of baardalg. Maar gewoon wat ook wel eens op de ruiten zit en/of het filteromhulsel. Hey, love your aquascape video, but i have a question, is it safe to just put plants in aquarium with their pots (it's terracota pots with soil in it not the plastic one)? Or you must take them out of their pots and plant it in soil? Sorry for my bad english

      The plant soil contains too many nutrients and will cause algae.
