I just rode the new Beamer 1250gs and Pan am. Walked out today with a brand new Harley Pan am special. Blue and white! Personally the big difference between Harley and bmw is the Harley feels way faster way more powerful! Just wait till and exhaust and power commander on the Pan Am! Everyone should go test ride a new Pan Am! It will change your thinking

I recently came out of bike retirement and was going to purchase the BMW however I decided to buy the Harley. It was the best descion! So far when riding around I have seen 100s of BMWs but NO other Pan Americas... Yes the BMW might be the best but I prefer to stand outside of the crowd (. Ps. I don't go rallying so it's more of a touring thing)

Hey guys, you’re missing the fact that you can drastically change the suspension settings. It significantly changes the rebound and dampening. Your review is the first I’ve watched that have kudos to the BMW suspension. Most other reviews described it as mite, numb, non-communicative. The Showa electronic suspension is far superior.

I was not sure about your introduction on the suspension systems on both bikes. The Pan America Special has self leveling suspension as standard, whilst the BMW normally gets a system that you have to tune by electronically selecting the load factor, unless you pay the extra money for the fully self adjusting option. BMW has been making the GS for so long that they have got both the quality and the ride almost perfect, but the Harley offers a good alternative.

The Pan America is the number one selling adventure motorcycle in the US. I have test rode it several times. I have researched it thoroughly. I placed an order on one. I like the looks of an African Twin and some features. The BMW GS is just a huge motorcycle for me. Not even going to bother looking at other brands as dealerships, parts, finding mechanics who can work on them are few and far between here in the US. If I was going around the world it would be on an African Twin.

Love the fit and finish of BMW. These bikes have spent years refining and figuring things out. Is it perfect? Nothing ever is. But it’s perfect enough for those who love them. Next up will be the new Triumph Tiger 1200 just out. The HD Pan America is a great first attempt but needs some feedback and refining and then commitment by the Motor company to be in it 100%. Harley was poised and balanced and had a linear power band.

From my experience, BMW always provides reviewers with a top spec bike, it's always optioned up (no base models are given to reviewers). The Pan America you have is the base model, it is not the top spec bike and Harley does have has a quick shift option available in 2022. The plastic rack on the Pan is not intended to put a top box on it, there is appropriate hardware which is fitted to mounting points under the passenger seat for mounting top boxes or carry racks. I am in no way saying that overall the Pan is better than the BMW, it's not, but please, here you are not comparing apples with apples. The Pan is biased for on-road riding (similar to the Duke Multistrada) , so hard-core off-roaders will not favour the Pan. But if one spends most time on road, then it's a no brainer which one is easier to live with.

I bought a Pan Am Special on May 28, 2021. I forced the dealership to trade it in on October 20th 2021. It didn’t even last 5 months until the dealership was concerned about federal lemon law kicking in. They were on their 3rd attempt trying to fix the electrical issue that would cause the bike to stall (usually in an intersection) and then go into limp mode. You would have to completely wait for the bike to power down and reboot before it would barely start again. In the time I owned the bike it threw. 16 different codes. The dealership, nor the MoCo knew how to fix this problem. They were more than happy to give me a deal on the trade-in for a Heritage that I really didn’t want either. This bike is absolute garbage.

They ride where they want. Go out and demo ride and see for yourself. Then decide.

Another European Push for BMW. BMW is not cool. Its a PIG on wheels. I would not buy either of these bikes. KTM is unreliable. Suzuki bid is a soft street bike. Yamaha Super T need a real update. That only leaves the King. Africa Twin is the King and any one that rides ADV knows it. This channel is a joke.

Honestly I find the the BMW rides better and it feels lighter than the Africa Twin, which carries the weight very high (especially the Adventure Sports). But I don't really like either of them and think both are too big. But that's just my opinion. Some people prefer KTMs and some prefer Kawasaki. Others will prefer Ducati or Suzuki or Yamaha or Triumph. It's good to have the choice for different budgets, priorities and taste, as well as channels like this where you get to see the bikes and hear their impressions.

Aprilia Tuareg is a great contender in the Adventure Class now, as well as the Ducati Desert X.

They are comparing the 2 bikes ,the emphasis on the Harley and using the BMW as the yardstick. They are not trying to compare them with the rest of the ADV bikes. They also gave their unbiased opinions and the reasons behind their findings. It would be very unhelpful if they just described the bikes PIGS on wheels or the King or AT The bike for fairies who cannot use a clutch and change gear. That would make it a joke.

@@terryrance2662 Absolutely. Personally I find anyone who claims the AT is "the king" to not be serious either... AT's also have plenty of their own issues and I find it as much if not more of a "pig" than the GS, to be honest.

That was just the plastic back piece. That is not the top case bracket. Unfortunately these guys misstated quite a few details, and were reviewing the base model bike.
